I chose this ryokan based on photos and reviews. The hotel grounds are beautiful, but it looks more beautiful in the photos. We were there during the golden week and thought there would be a lot of people, fortunately it wasn't. We liked the room, the onsen too.
We took both breakfast and dinner to try the local cuisine. There was a lot of food, but then we realized that we don't like all Japanese food. But there was also a lot of tasty food. Overall, the hotel is not bad.
I didn't like how the transfer from the bus stop to the hotel was organized

The ambience was fabulous and Kaiseki meals astonishing. The room big and comfortable. The price was well deserved. Kagetsu is top notch with their attention to details for their service, food, Onsen baths and more. Don’t hesitate to go there. It’s a dreamlike stay. 🎎

It is a traditional hot spring hotel. We stayed in the old wing this time. I heard that one side is newly renovated. The old wing really has its age and the rooms have a bit of a smell.
In mid-February, we made a reservation for the family bath on the 5th floor, but the floor was damaged and had not been repaired. It was dangerous for children to pass by.
The front desk had limited English and could not fully communicate.
There are not many tourists, and overall I am very satisfied.

There is a playground where you can play table tennis and putter golf
The rental open-air bath was also wide and good ♨️
I definitely want to go again!

We really enjoyed our stay with our 5 year old
It was a treat to stay in a traditional hotel with Yukata and sleeping on Tatami beds.
The food was absolutely amazing and very delicately prepared. Luckily, we had our own private open air bath, otherwise it was extremely difficult to book any reservations for the onsen and private baths.
By the time we checked in, everything was pretty much fun
Our kid loved the cute kid's amenities kit, feeding the carp and walking through the garden.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

This is great time to be in this hotel. I recommend to check in before 15:30pm to do many activities in the hotel. I will come back again. Many private spa are there. It is very worth value and great spending time there all night long.

It doesn’t matter that the hotel is old. The look at the front desk that looked like a widower really made me worried for her. The service quality in Japan has declined after the epidemic. It is no longer the Japan it used to be. I don’t recommend staying there.

設備は少し古めに感じるが、スタッフの皆さんにホスピタリティを感じるし、綺麗な感じで良い宿かなと思います。
お部屋は和室。チェックイン時はお布団ひいてある感じでしたが、すぐ寝転がれるのはいいかも。トイレや洗面台が窓側にあり、テーブルと冷蔵庫が干渉して使いにくい感じはあります。ただ冷蔵庫やエアコンはよく冷えて良かった。
温泉は自家泉源らしく、透明ですが少しぬるっとして良い感じ。加温の方は熱くなる時がありますが、冷たい方が源泉に近いのかも。ぬるっと感も冷たい方がありました。露天風呂もあり、気持ちいいです。
たまたま夜の花火が観れたのは嬉しい。短いけど。
今回は桃と葡萄、おざら目的でしたが、鵜飼があるようなので、次は鵜飼見学も目的に来てみたいかもです。

It feels like an old ryokan hotel, but it has a cozy feel like visiting a country house. There is a hot spring in the hotel, and above all, the dinner buffet was delicious. The menu is varied and the price is good value for money.

They had Bumbo and bath rentals available, so even small children could enjoy the hot springs.
The hair dryer in our room was broken and unusable, but we managed to find a hair dryer in the large public bath! It was quiet, in a great location, and we were able to relax.
