"Glenlo Abbey is a beautiful hotel. I stayed here recently with my family and felt the need to write a review given the warm hospitality we received from everyone at the property. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Troy. He provided amazing local recommendations that we capitalized on and he even went above and beyond driving my family to town in the hotel shuttle when there were no cabs large enough to fit us around. Jordi at the lobby bar was also a complete rockstar - patiently making a custom cosmo for my mom! He was so friendly and warm. Everyone we encountered was great though. Breakfast was delicious and set in a stunning room - you could order a warm meal and then browse the cold buffet while it cooked. My siblings and I also stayed in a family sized room which had a generous over sized bathroom. Pro tip: ask to stay in the newer section of the hotel."
"We stayed here 3 nights during our Ireland road trip and it is located less than 2 hours drive from both Dublin airport and cliffs of Moher. We booked the room with Hyatt points and hotel was busy over the weekend with a wedding. Hotel is located in several acres with distant water views and walkable golf courses. Internet connection is fast (~50mbps) and breakfast was excellent with both hot (freestyle eggs, pancakes, French toast) and cold (cereals, fruits) items. Room size, mattress, bathroom amenities are all up to the expectations. Pillows were a bit thin & collapsing and they did not have any memory foam pillows available."
"The hotel is an aging "country house hotel", with rooms built before handicapped access was required. No ramp for wheely luggage, let alone wheel chairs. No elevators. Rooms accessed by stairs only. General reaction of extended family group was "disappointing". Pleasant setting, but Lough Corrib at some distance from the hotel and quite narrow at that point. Walking access (+/- half mile) comes with warning of stray golf balls. "Grounds" converted into 9-hole golf course. No sign of the "two bicycles per room" although wet and windy while we were there. One good public room where breakfast is served, although reservation required for breakfast. Other public rooms are tired (frayed carpet in "residents lounge"). Train dining rooms rusting in place - and yes, we did look closely at them. Rusted through in some places, and cobwebs. View rooms look onto squat three-story building that contains two meeting rooms and casual dining room/ cum golf club drinks location. We had a room overlooking the garden, with windows secured in place with screws. Could not be opened. Some traffic noise from main road. Bathroom updated at some point. Comfortable, but... In need of a make-over."

Guests will find Galway Thai Massage, BumperFootball and On Yer Bike Cycles just a short distance from the hotel. "Do not book this place if you are 'young' as they are prejudice towards customers based on their age and appearance. Our check in process left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. When we checked in we were told by the receptionist that we would have to pay a security deposit for our stay - this was no problem and I had been made aware of the deposit cost the day before our arrival, however I felt the price was extortionate: 350 euro deposit for a 1 night stay (165 euro for the night). The receptionist proceeded to take out a printed document with an extensive list of situations whereby we would lose our 350 euro deposit. She went through every bullet point on this list at length and we felt as though she was making the assumption we would break one of these rules. Which included but not limited to: any noise complaints, the property having to be cleaned 'more than the usual', leaving any dishes in the sink, cellotape being put on the walls, late night call outs for any disturbances, anyone other than the agreed guests entering the apartment (we were told there was cctv to ensure this..), the list went on and on! I commented that they must have had people really wrecking the place for them to be this extensive on their rules..the receptionist replied that its to ensure the comfort of other guests.. I guess our comfort wasn't a priority as it left us feeling extremely unwelcome. On entering the apartment there was a big sign notifying us that there would be a minimum 2000 euro fine if the fire alarm was set off... We were staying here one night to rest our heads and chill before a long drive back home after working in Galway for a few days. We are both 30 years old and in no way were planning to party in the apartment, I felt that because we looked younger the receptionist judged us on our appearance. On check out I asked about the deposit return and I was told by Catriona the receptionist that I would get my deposit back in 3 to 5 working days 'if everything is ok with the apartment after cleaning and inspection'. I was starting to stress a bit because even though the place was totally clean and tidy I was concerned by the receptionist's manner that they were going to scam me out of the money. Thankfully it is back in my account now but I've seen reviews from other guests who have not had their deposit returned! On looking up poor reviews of this place on booking.com, tripadvisor and google, there are several people who have been treated this way - the property is discriminatory towards younger people. They should advertise their property as over 50s only if that's what they want."
"Had a lovely stay in Jameson Court Apartments. We were family of 5 with 3 kids. Apartment was super lovely, spotlessly clean and very well stocked with delph, cutlery, pots etc. it was a very nice touch to leave teabags, milk, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs. Even a few biscuits. They thought of everything. Have zero complaints. Excellent location in Salthill. Zero issues with deposit. Staff really friendly and helpful. Car park spots were a little tight but great that it is free. All in all, a very pleasant stay. Thank you."
"Had a brilliant stay in Jameson Court Apartments. The apartment was spotless and the location was excellent, close to cafes, bars and restaurant. The underground car park was a bonus. I would definitely recommend the apartments and can't wait to come back for another stay."

"One pro, one con, and I would definitely stay again. The pro is that although the hotel is right next to a lively pub, the noise is reasonable. I stayed in room 102, right next to the bar and am a light sleeper, but had no issue getting a restful night sleep on a Fri night. The pub itself is also great venue, for a pint or breakfast, and there is a shared door between the hotel and the pub, so on a rainy day you can go back and forth and never step outside! The con... the night porter was not at his desk when we returned to the hotel after midnight. We rang the bell a couple times, the bouncer from next door came over to help us out, but the door was never answered. Note above you can go between the bar and hotel, so that's what we did to get to our rooms, but it was frustrating and if you didn't know that was possible I am not sure what you would do. We reported the issue to the front desk the next morning, they apologized and comp'ed our breakfast. All told a nice stay, the night porter issue was more a problem with the person working the desk than the hotel so I would definitely recommend the Skeff and stay again myself."
" On arrival we were met by Marie in reception lovely bubbly girl made us feel so welcome. All the staff are so friendly but have to mention one in particular Niall at breakfast was such a lovely friendly guy he was on his own both mornings taking the orders cleaning tables serving tea and coffee but still had time to talk to everyone such a amazing young man and I hope the skeffington realise how lucky they are to have him on there team. Would definitely highly recommend staying there. The only complaint we have is we ordered dinner and it was cold but was replaced also ordered soup later that day also cold but was replaced. That was the only complaint for the two days. Well done to all involved 😀"
"We absolutely loved Skeffington Arms! The airport lost our luggage, but the hotel staff were so helpful in finding the necessities. The breakfast was also amazing and the location was great. We will definitely be visiting again!"

"We booked here for two nights at the end of our week's tour of Ireland. We missed the turning for the hotel car park so better signage may be helpful. Plenty of parking spaces although they're quite tight but we still managed to park our very long and wide car easily and entered the hotel from the back entrance. Very good lobby area, modern and stylish. Our room was decent and, although overlooking the busy road at the front, it was quiet. The bathroom was good although I struggled to turn the shower on and off as the controls were big and round and very stiff for my little hands. My husband had to do the honours! We were delighted with the location, a short walk into the town but well away from late night noise. We'd also recommend downloading the VoiceMap app as the hotel provides a voucher code so you can access a free walking tour. Worked very well offline and was an interesting way to explore the city. Breakfast was excellent - staff were very attentive and coffee was delivered quickly. Plenty of choice and decent quality, although a bit disappointed that most of the fruit appeared to be tinned On our last evening (a Friday), we went into the bar for a drink before going to our room. There was a man playing guitar and singing. He was excellent and performed for ages, really got everyone singing along. Some people may prefer a quiet place for a nightcap but we thought the atmosphere was amazing and a perfect last night of our trip. We had more than one drink as well!"
"Been to this hotel many times for many reasons . Family , friends , stag party, business. And it is as good as ever . Sitting quietly on the harbour but literally minutes from the bustling Latin Quarter this is an ideal base for anyone visiting the city. It’s a wonderful vibrant city full of culture, great music, great bars and indeed some great hotels. This one’s right up there. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are top class. Food and drink are just as good. Be back again ….."
"Excellent hotel - the food, staff and location were top class. Particularly the staff who were so helpful, hard-working and simply couldn't do enough for residents. A complaint, however. Our superior room, on the third floor, had no windows (only skylights) - otherwise, the specifications were high standard. When we raised the matter, we were very promptly relocated to another room, with a window. Parking was very good - but the inherent friendliness was both amazing and memorable."

"I believe in giving any substandard business the opportunity to try and put things right, so, before I came here to leave a review, I did the following: 1. Told the receptionist, when asked if I had enjoyed my stay, that I didnt and explained why, but got no satisfaction other than a sympathetic nod and a "sorry about that now", 2. Sent a comprehensive email to the hotel a few days after my stay, outling the issues I had. I provided my phone number, as well as my email address. No response from them. 3. Contacted the hotel again 2 weeks ago, via their online chat function, to ask if anybody was going to even acknowledge my email. I was assured it would be passed on to a manager the following day. No contact from the hotel since. I paid €257 for 1 night, with breakfast. When we arrived into the reception area, it was packed with a wedding party who were enjoying a drinks reception, and we felt like gatecrashers. A very friendly, helpful, lady checked us in, and we'd a very nice time roaring over the noise and across the reception desk at one another, in order to be heard. Our room was spacious, but the carpet was absolutely filthy. It was also located on the third floor, overhead the main entrance into the hotel, which became a problem from the minute we went to bed...but more on that later. Stay tuned! We had dinner in the bar, and the experience was akin to one of the funnier episodes of Fawlty Towers. Staff were wandering around, but ensuring to stay well away from tables and customers. I felt like many of them had possibly started their first ever service industry jobs that evening. Service was dire. We chose a table ourselves, after standing around, being ignored, for 5 minutes. We then had to go up and ask for menus. Then we had to call a staff member to take our order. The food was fine...a burger & chicken goujons....typical bar food. We remained in the bar after dinner for drinks. The service was genuinely appalling. There was a 10-15 minute wait each time we went to the bar. Staff behind the bar were tripping over one another, and many of them seemed genuinely clueless about bar work and/or drinks, where to find them, how to serve them or what to serve them in, and customers had to keep directing them. To make matters worse, a lot of the wedding party came out to the bar area for cocktails, and id imagine that, 4 wks later, many of them are still waiting to be served... The only redeeming thing about the bar that night was the excellent 2 piece band that were playing, and, only that we really enjoyed the music, we would have left. We got no sleep at all that night. As mentioned earlier, our room was located overhead the reception area, and other well inebriated guests spent the night happily congregating outside the front door, smoking and having the absolute craic and banter, all the while being completely oblivious to the fact that there was anyone other than themselves in the hotel...there seemed to be no effort whatsoever made "
"Very friendly staff, very helpful, always help you out, always smiling, nice and warm feeling from the minute you walk in, nice and clean, and the food menu was very good, and the food was lovely, would highly recommend this hotel, "
"Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable with fresh spotlessly clean bedlinen. Room and bathroom was very clean. We arrived to check in at 3pm but the room wasn't ready but the receptionist took our luggage; we got called shortly afterwards and told that the room was ready and our luggage sent up. Our luggage hadn't been sent up and we had to ring down to enquire about it. Later that evening we noticed that there was no tea, coffee etc in the room so we rang for that. These are small things but with the rates being charged for room only all attention to detail is a must. "

"Check in to the Cliffs of Moher in the west of Ireland. The nearest big city is Galway. Galway has few good hotels to choose from. Jury inn is a good choice. The location is next to the Spanish arch in the city center. Very close. Self-driving cars can be parked in the underground parking garage on the right side of the hotel door. An overnight car of 10 euros is not expensive. Although the hotel is old, the room facilities are good, and the breakfast is also a standard English breakfast, it is recommended!"
"The advantage is that the hotel is at a good location, next to the picture location. It is very close to the pedestrian street and not far from the seaside. The downside is that the room is not big, and we live with a single bed and a double bed."
"Located by the river, there are many options for restaurants and bars nearby. The breakfast variety is OK, the quality is good. The room is comfortable and clean, the room type is a large bed plus a single bed, suitable for children."

"It just wasn’t for us. My husband booked Connemara Coast Hotel Ocean View with Balcony. When we arrived, it was cold and the rain was coming down. There was no Bellman to meet us, so we carried our bags in, checked in and then some staff member brought a couple of our bags to the room while we brought the rest of our bags up after a walk down many hallways to the elevator. We were starving after a decent journey to the hotel, ordered room service and they forgot our beverages. No water in the room. The balcony wasn’t covered, so chairs were wet and balcony was wet, only to enjoy the view of the Atlantic through the glass door and upon the lawn in the back were, I don’t know what. Two structures which did not obstruct our view, but were not appealing. We had asked for towels during our stay which after 1 1/2 hours did not arrive, so we had to call, again. Taxi rides to Galway which we were able to request at the front desk, but had to wait until someone was at the front desk as they were in the back office. The kicker was the night before our flight, the fire alarm went off multiple times while we were sleeping. Guests were coming out of their doors and asking the one staff member who came to the hallway was there a fire. The only news we received was either a guest was smoking in the room ( and knew the room number)or it was coming from the elevator. You are a staff member , knock on the door or enter the room with a key…..Neither, a good case scenario. My husband went downstairs to see if there were guests down there to determine if we should leave our rooms. Finally, guests went back to bed, didn’t smell smoke, so said our prayers and went back to sleep. Also, no late room service and when I say late, I mean after 10 pm. On departure, we had to carry all of our bags to the front. So, in summary, while the hotel was clean and staff members we did get to speak to were very nice, I wouldn’t stay there again. No one can help the weather and mishaps do happen, so putting that aside, it did not live up to our expectations which we thought would be one of the nicest hotels on our itinerary."
"I was a little annoyed at check in that there was no lift to my room that wasn't miles from the desk. The young man at the desk made a sweeping gesture and pointed me to the 'grand staircase'. I'm 4'11" and 75 years old traveling alone. I was less than amused. A very kind man who was not an employee carried my bags up the 'grand staircase' and the miles of corridor to my room. Perhaps they could work on this kindness. Breakfast was lovely, the rooms were lovely and quite clean. Views were amazing and parking was easy. I'd recommend this if you don't mind hauling your bags. If I'd know, I'd have asked for a ground floor room....which no one bothered to offer to me."
"Lovely staff, very comfy room and bed, and great views. I loved being able to use the pool and sit in the hot tub looking out to sea after a day out. breakfast was excellent, and dinner was pretty good too. I do wish the hotel would stop using single use toiletries in the bathroom, and provide real cups in the bedrooms, as the waste of paper and plastic bothered me."

The hotel is right next to the bus station, the El Square is just across the road, there is a visitor center across the road, and there is a question to ask directly. We are going to Asford Castle the next day. The staff at the visitor center helped us check the bus time and booked a taxi for us. The hotel's facilities are very distinctive, the interior is old-fashioned, the beds are old, similar to our beds of the 780s, but very clean. The entire hotel room is partially filled with the smell of disinfectant. The hotel breakfast was delicious and the rest were average.

Unfortunately, we experienced a very disappointing stay. And it truly upsets me to write such a review as we usually have wonderful mini breaks and are usually bubbling over with excitement to share our experiences with everyone else. I shall explain.....we arrived with friends and had booked Afternoon Tea. Our table was set up, but the table cloth was not ironed and the table setting was quite untidy. Service was a little scarce although there were numerous staff floating around, most of which were avoiding eye contact. Our Afternoon Tea arrived and the food was very acceptable., however when we eventually attracted attention and asked for a refill of tea, our cups were taken away. Perfectly, acceptable....however we thought we would receive a fresh pot of tea and as our cups had been taken away, were expecting clean cups. Unfortunately, our tea cups were returned, filled with tea, unwashed and none of us knew who owned which. We had to request fresh cups and a new pot of tea. We also had a swarm of blue bottles resting on the ceiling above our heads of which one fell down onto the table. Evidently, we finished promptly and moved tables. You may be thinking this lady is expecting a lot, but you must remember we paid well for this experience, in a 4 star Hotel and to be quite honest we have received better Afternoon Teas in small restaurants ...... at half the price. Later that night we were in the bar area and as residents we expected to have the pleasure of an enjoyable evening there with our friends. Bar service again was very slow and it wasn't due to overcrowding. Staff then started cleaning around us, stacking chairs, pulling blinds, sweeping etc and we were then promptly asked to leave our table and move yet again, out to the foyer. Our whole evening was disruptive and quite unsettling. Our booked dinner was acceptable but unfortunately most of the hot starters were served cold and the standard was not quite there. So as I said before, we experienced a disappointing visit. Lots of staff to be seen, but few willing to serve.....the personal touch was missing and seemed to have no floor manager directing staff. Unfortunately, we will not be rushing back again. I do hope the Ardilaun will read this and learn from some of our experiences and correct them for future residents.

King size room really was king size. Comfortable bed, spacious size, well equipped with an aircon that worked and was individual to the room. Bathroom was delightfully large. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was really good, the coffee service to the table efficient and the service was friendly and warm (even in an environment where the hotel had busloads of patrons). The walk into town was quick and close to shopping amenities for any eventuality. All round well worth the higher price tag than can be expected elsewhere in Europe.

I stayed almost one week in this hotel. Unfortunately, it was the money not worth it. At check-in, the woman from the reception was not very friendly and I didn't feel welcome. She just wanted me to pay the room and did not give me any information about the hotel, breakfast etc. The room was quite big, what I really liked. But there was no fridge in the room. In the bathrom, The daily cleaning service did not include hoovering the floors. You could here all the noise from outside the room or the rooms next to you. As there are many Party guests in the hotel, I could a lot of things during the night. Just not acceptable. After checkin-out, I forgot an item in my room. I wrote an e-mail to the hotel if they could send it to me. Until now, I have not received any answer yet. The only good thing in this hotel is the location (very close to the center) and the pub next to it. I would not go there again.

They should advertise their property as over 50s only if that's what they want.

I believe in giving any substandard business the opportunity to try and put things right, so, before I came here to leave a review, I did the following: 1. As mentioned earlier, our room was located overhead the reception area, and other well inebriated guests spent the night happily congregating outside the front door, smoking and having the absolute craic and banter, all the while being completely oblivious to the fact that there was anyone other than themselves in the hotel...there seemed to be no effort whatsoever made

Nox hotel - Galway 4-30-5-2-2022 The staff at this hotel was accommodating and very polite. The bar tenders, the front desk and the wait staff. They were very professional even during the hectic bankers holiday over the weekend. The breakfast buffet was a very enjoyable. The property does have decent bar and lounge area inside and outside. The property was 1.9 mile from eyre square. A short cab from the property. Cab’s get to the property usually in less than 2 minutes. The room was very standard and very clean upon arrival. A shout out to Gloria who called me a day before confirming I was still coming to the property and ensured me my room would be ready upon my arrival. She was sweetheart.
