After a 2.5 weeks trip, I can now say that this was by far the best hotel I have been in, and the best meal. The location (5 minutes from the superb garden I wanted to see, plus as a hotel guest you get in for free) is great. The air con was perfect, not too intrusive yet during the heat wave it felt just right. And the food! With a view from the roof tops as you feast. The staff was also lovely and friendly, the bathroom kitted out with all the mod cons a westerner would like. I cannot recommend it enough.

I spent a half month and a half of the day, a hurry day 々, but I used it with my wife to heal my fatigue. From arrival to departure, each staff member has a nice smile. I was able to spend time, the food and facilities were great, but the natural smile and care were comfortable inn

It's been about 10 years since I came here. Three years ago, the guest rooms in the main building were completely renovated and turned into detached guest rooms with an exterior entrance, which together with the six existing detached buildings, evolved into a detached inn. The magnificent entrance that had been in use for a long time now serves as an entrance exclusively for outpatient bathers, and a reception desk exclusively for hotel guests is now located in the connecting passageway that separates from the main building. That's fine, but the location of the front desk is difficult to find, there's no staff on site, and you can enter the guest rooms without passing through the front desk, so I felt there were some security issues. I used the detached area again this time. After all, the bathroom here is unique and interesting. What's more, it's a smooth hot spring with a sulfur smell and plenty of hot water. You can come in as long as you want. When I first came to the public bath, there was an open-air bath, but unfortunately it is now completely covered with a roof. Meals are served at the semi-private dining room in the main building. Previously, the main weakness of this inn was its food, but when I came back for the first time in a while, I was very surprised at how much it had evolved. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for the meal, but this time the quality of the food had improved considerably and it was incomparably more delicious than before. The dishes using spiny lobster and Ajisai beef from Kumamoto Prefecture were very good. However, there seems to be still room for improvement in hotpot and chawanmushi. Since it's a hot spring in Kumamoto, I'd like to try horse sashimi if possible. Although I feel that we have made considerable progress with this major transformation, there is still room for improvement in terms of front desk response. However, 21,000 yen per person on the day before a holiday for a luxury course meal of spiny lobster and Ajisai beef in a detached room for two people is really affordable. I would like you to aim for further improvement.

The hotel's location was the main reason why we booked the place. It was close to both Kumamon Square and Kumamotojo, the 2 things we wanted to do in Kumamoto. However, note that even though it's right next to Kumamotojo, it still takes a 15~20minute walk to the entrance because it's on the other side of the castle keep during it's repairs. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, standard level of service in Japan is just one step above every other country. The staff did valet parking for me without extra charge, and was quite helpful in helping us to get to different attractions and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is very dated and the rooms are in dire need of a full renovation. I think that is why the rates were quite reasonable. For a hotel this caliber (probably 5 stars when it was first built), we only paid around 10,000 yen per night. The issue is the rooms are really old and the carpet looks dirty and ripped. parts of the washrooms were so old the faucet looked like it's from the early 90s and with small amounts of molds in the creases. Because the hotel is old, the ventilation isn't the greatest either. One of our rooms although was non-smoking, we could smell other room's cigarette smell in our room. Overall, I don't really recommend this hotel because it's really dated, but if you are on a budget and want close amenity it's worth a shot. The staff are nice too so I feel bad for not recommending the hotel, but at the end of the day, there are just better options in Kumamoto today.

I made a reservation with reference to the word of mouth, but I was very satisfied. The fusion of luxury and friendliness made it a good memory. I used twins and singles with my family. I think it's a building from before, but the interior has been renewed cleanly, and I'm glad that it's equipped with a charging port, washlet and air purifier. The view of Kumamoto Castle from the open lounge on the 11th floor was also wonderful. I would like to know more about Kumamoto, so I would like to use it if I have another chance.

Last fall, I stayed at a hot spring inn in northern Kumamoto Prefecture. It wasn't an expensive inn, but the service and food were good, and above all, I thought the hot spring quality was trottro and it was a very good hot spring. At that time, I heard from the people who were staying in Kumamoto that there are many good hot springs scattered around here in the northern part of Kumamoto. I was looking for such an inn and found Ryokan Hirayama in Ueki Onsen. I didn't know about ”Ueki Onsen” until I researched northern Kumamoto this time. I had no way of knowing about the small inn there, ``Ryokan Hirayama.'' ”Hirayama” is a small inn with about 10 rooms, and our room was an ordinary Japanese-style room. As for the hot springs that I was looking forward to, it was really trottery, and it was like being soaked in lotion. My skin feels noticeably different after taking a bath. I thought this spring quality was the best I've ever had. It was called the ”Mido Fuji Plan” and we had dinner in the guest room next to our room. There are no expensive ingredients, but the ingredients from Kumamoto are beautifully prepared, and the dishes that come one after another are all beautiful and delicious.
Ueki Onsen is located in the northern part of Kumamoto City. There were several hot spring inns, but our accommodation for this day was Ryokan Hirayama. It was a small inn with about 10 rooms. It was said that the quality of the hot springs was excellent, and it was definitely true. There are many hot springs in Japan that are described as ``beauty hot springs'' or ``like being soaked in beauty serum'', and we have been to many beauty hot springs, but the spring quality here is number one. I thought it was 1. The texture of the bath is also completely different. The food was also amazing. The food was served in the room, but it was prepared in the room next to us, which was nice. The dinner we had was a kaiseki meal called “Shindo Fuji Plan”. It doesn't use a lot of particularly luxurious ingredients, but the seasonal ingredients of Kumamoto were beautifully cooked and it was very delicious. As for the breakfast, I felt the concern that there was a stove that warmed up the grilled fish.

There are 2 Daiwa Roynet Hotels in Kumamoto, so we took a taxi to the wrong one! Fortunately, they are walking distance from each other. The taxi driver cannot read English, so you need to be clear that it is the Ginza Dori one. It is not near to the railway station, so tram ride is needed. We took a taxi because there were 2 of us and 2 large bags. I like the room size because of our large suitcases. There are many restaurants nearby. We love this place

The front desk was on the second floor. The first floor is 7-Eleven. The number of multi-storey car parks attached to the hotel was small, and when it was full, the affiliated parking lot was very far away. One blue sky parking lot was vacant, but it didn't stop me. There was a parking lot other than the affiliation nearby. It is good that the bathroom has a bathtub and a washroom. The room is not large. There are many times when the front desk is congested. There was a 7-Eleven on the first floor and it was convenient. The bar area is close, so it is convenient to walk when eating out.

In addition to the toothbrush, the convenience facilities are placed in the front, which is a style that can be used freely. It is individually packaged like a free sample and is very easy to use. I plan to go to sea the next day, and the foundation of sunscreen is also very good. Breakfast is a buffet, but I am satisfied with the balanced vegetables and protein and good infection control measures. Close to Kumamoto Castle and the city, it is very suitable for sightseeing. The only problem is that the roads are very congested during commuting hours in the morning and evening, so you should be careful.

It was convenient because it was not rainy even in the rainy season because it was possible to go to the hotel through the arcade downstairs immediately after the city tram. Kumamoto Jo castle can also walk and the location is good. The breakfast was delicious and there was a drink service, so I think the cospa is good.

Stayed in a room with an open-air bath. The room was clean and easy to spend. There is a tatami mats, so you can go go go. The bed is a bit hard, but it is not difficult to sleep. The open-air bath can hear the sound of the car because it is all over the city, but there is a cherry blossom and it is not visible from the surroundings, and the curtain for completely blocking is also installed, so if you are concerned, you can use it. The water was clean and easy to use. The outlet is hardly close to the floor, under the TV, under the bed, the bathroom and the air cleaner. If the charging cable is short, the tablet will be charged at the bed. If the charging cable is long, you can extend it from the TV and put the tablet on the tatami mats to charge. It was because it was a room near the coin laundry on the 3 floor, and I heard the sound of the washing machine. However, I was able to spend it without worrying about it. It is also convenient that the next door is seven eleven. I didn't use breakfast buffet because of corona. The hotel receptionist is a sister in a T-shirt, and there is no atmosphere called ”Hotel Man”, but I was able to check in and check out smoothly, and there is no rudeness. It was a very good hotel with location, newness and cleanliness.

This hotel is located within a short walking distance from the Kumamoto station. From the JR bstation exit it is on the left, just beside the Bic Camera store next. There is also a streetcar/tram stop so near the hotel which you can use to explore the city touristy spots! Shopping is convenient as the Kumamoto AMU Plaza (see another Review) is 5-mins walk away. The lobby is quite spacious and I quite like the intimate setting and lighting. Check-in was fast and 3 lifts serve well with travellers + luggages. The room design is quite standard and we have requested for x2 single bed, the room size is respectable. Noted that they're still using the physical hard key and not the keycard type. Hottel provided some amenities and complimentary bottled water in the room, sufficient for us . The Hotel is very into Going Green, there will be no housekeeping within first 3-days unless requested upon. This may likely be the model moving forward, to cut wastages. We had our breakfast at the nearby Pronto. The Kitaoka Shrine is just about 400 metres nearby, opposite direction of JR station so we recommend to drop by if time permits. A good stay experience. J

We took Highway Bus (2.5hr) from Fukuoka Airport to Kumamoto Sakuramachi Bus Terminal. Koko Hotel is directly connected to the bus terminal. Hotel was opened in June 2022 and there were now clear signages to Koko Hotel as we alighted from the bus. We took escalator to the 2F and take the lift to the 14F where the Hotel lobby is. From the lobby, we get a clear view of Kumamoto Castle. Our Superior Twin Room is very spacious and comfortable. We paid Y32,310 for 2 nights. It is 10 mins walk to the Castle, and 10 mins taxi ride to Kumamoto Station. Amu Plaza next to Kumamoto Station has plenty of eateries. Sakuramachi has Family Mart, restaurants and shops.

I stayed 2 at the end of the year. It was my first stay, but I wanted to relax and stay again. The hotel is over 9 floor, but the glass is often used and the view is bright everywhere. Creation that I have never seen before. A mechanism that cannot be put in the room key in the lodging zone. The building is a corridor style, overlooking the garden and chapel on the 9 floor, but it is lit up at night and this is beautiful again. The rooms are a bit vertical, but I was able to spend calmly. I liked my wife very much. The public bath is also like a fashionable and splendid hot spring hotel. Maybe more. There was a drum coin laundry next to the entrance of the public bath, and it was convenient for consecutive nights. Breakfast was a buffet, but the buffet on New Year's Day is a great word. When I arrived at the entrance with the service of the soup and arrived at the seat, the miscellaneous boiling was carried first. The soup was very delicious. In addition to the usual buffet, there were special dishes for New Year's Day, but there were many fresh sashimi, kazukono, shrimp, etc. There was red rice in rice. All were delicious and ate a lot. I went by car, but I went directly from the underground parking lot to the front floor and the parking fee was very good. Moreover, I think it is the best value for money in a hotel in Kumamoto City with a 24-hour parking setting. My wife started saving money because she wanted to go to the end of this year.

Great value for what we have paid for. Efficient check-in process. High quality public bath facilities with two hot hot springs (one indoor and one outdoor), one sauna and one cold water pool. Although this hotel is listed as a 3-star hotel, we would say it is much better than many 4-star hotels in many regards. The employees at the check-in desk speak decent English too.

The location is very good, you can walk to nearby attractions. The room is also quite big. The only bad thing was that one morning the fire alarm went off and no staff could be found to ask what happened. The fire alarm bell rang for a long time before the announcement came, and it was only in Japanese. The final guess is that it was a false alarm.

My wife and I stayed at the Nikko Kumamoto from 1/5/2023- 3/5/2023 on our second leg of the kyushu trip after a disastrous stay at Nikko Huis Ten Bosch( that I posted on another review). The hospitality was a complete turnaround . We arrived by taxi from the kumamoto station and upon arrival at rhe entrance, there was.a guest officer to help us unload and wheel in our luggage to the check in lobby. Throughout our stay whenever we stepped into or walked by the guests officers, they would greet us and acknowledge us. Despite the language barrier, I was especially touched by the sincere efforts of one of your male guests officer who wore glasses. I had intially wanted to visit Mount Aso but did not know how to go there using public bus. So one one evening I walked to the guest relations desk and stated my intentions and request for more info. I could tell the officer had difficulty trying to communicate in English but he was trying very hard to get the information across. Throughout our stay were given maps and shown by pen and drawings whenever we had questions to a location ie ramen restaurant while waiting for check in, where to shop for sneakers etc I really appreciated the hospitality and guidance despite the language barrier. We hope to be back in future and keep up the good work! I hope the nikko mgmt team can transfer this consistency to your other chains ie( nikko huis ten bosch which clearly lacks such direction ). I really hope when ever I'm in japan I can go back to a nikko

The lobby is on the 3 floor. Breakfast venue and welcome drink are on the 3 floor. Yukata is in the lobby and bring it yourself. Slippers and yukata are prohibited in the common area of the building. After taking a bath, I changed into indoor clothes, wanted to drink coffee slowly, and forgot to bring a yukata (because I have a lot of baggage when I enter the museum). I want to warm dinner in the microwave. Etc. I often want to go to the lobby. But I don't want to wear shoes. Because it's for going out. If it is a type of this hotel, I don't think there is a possibility that outsiders will enter the breakfast venue. I don't know why slippers are prohibited. I can't relax when I wear shoes. It's attractive to have free coffee, but I can't go for a drink. I'm dissatisfied. I want you to make slippers a little more sandal-like and allow them to wear. It seems to be a slipper that can be washed, but halfway. If possible, I would be happy if there was a large communal bath. Is it because it is Japanese?

The location is in front of Kumamoto Station. There are restaurants and convenience stores in Kumamoto Station premises, so you can eat and drink without going to downtown areas such as kasushima Cho. Stay at the upper stage of the partition room type for 1 people. There was one lighting, USB connector and outlet in the space. I think most luggage will enter because the locker is large. I think wifi was good. The shower room and powder room are large and clean. Drinking and drinking are available in the food and drink space in the back of the front desk. There is a pot with hot water and a microwave oven, and a bar where you can drink alcohol is also provided. There is an outlet in the eating and drinking space, so you can eat and drink while charging your electronics. The difficulty is the sound problem. Because it is not a private room but a partition room and a dormitory, the sound of other guests (such as the opening and closing sound of the locker in the early morning of the midnight cherry blossoms) is echoed. The earplug is an amenities, but there is no effect near the person who has a big ibiki. Please stay after recognizing that there is such a thing that people who care about sound are concerned. However, compared to other dormitories and capsule hotels, I think there is a cleanliness and cleanliness that draw a line. Bicycle rental is also done and 500 yen for 8 ~ 20 o'clock use.

I stayed at the introduction of an acquaintance. It is very clean because it has just opened this summer. Security is also safe because the elevator does not move without the key to the room. Unfortunately, I couldn't see Kumamoto Jo castle from my room, but there was a table and chair on the rooftop, and I was able to enjoy Kumamoto Jo castle at night. We have used it several times. It feels a bit old in an old hotel, but it is a hotel that can be clean and calm. The morning Viking is a 10F restaurant, so you can see Kumamoto Jo castle that took the Asahi in front of you. The Viking was delicious as well. There was ”Kumamoto Ramen” and I made a morning rake on the last day. The size of the room and the hardness of the bed are satisfactory, but because the room light is small, I want another standlight and the bathroom faucet can be set to temperature I'm grateful. I made four stars. I am satisfied because I had a calm and comfortable time

Kumamoto|0.55km from city center
I’m just finishing a two night stay at the KKR Hotel Kumamoto. The KKR means the hotel is mainly intended for national civil servants, but in reality anyone can stay there and the prices are reasonable. I have a twin room on the 6th floor with a view of Kumamoto Castle from the bed! The room is closer in size to western hotels and breakfast is included. The hotel is an aging beauty, but is still pretty nice. Kumamoto is a hilly city, especially near the castle. There is not a lot nearby the hotel, unless you are driving, or you walk down to the city, about 600m. Breakfast in the morning is mostly Japanese. It is a buffet and the quality is good. If you are lookup for quiet and peaceful, this is the place.Overall, I’ve had a nice stay and would definitely stay here again.
