Highly recommend - all main areas are accessible. Friendly staff willing to assist at all times. Very comfortable spacious bedroom with good walk in shower. Sitting room area spacious with plenty separate divisions. Excellent breakfasts and,in our opinion five star evening meals. Table reservations are well timetabled so that the kitchen can provide the best unhurried service. Exterior peaceful surroundings away from what can be a busy tourist area.

This is a historic building dating back to 1548, experienced 11 owners and is now a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large area, with flocks of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a very good lake view and a large grass. Hares and squirrels often jump in the grass and woods. You can reach the lake by a small road or hike in the forest. You can feel it from the elevator, the hotel is very old The spa has a heated swimming pool, cold pool, hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool. It is really pleasant to face a large area of grass and woods. The only thing to note is: check out at 11 o'clock, be sure to go to the spa before check out, after 11 o'clock to add 20 pounds per person.

The service at this hotel is exceptional, the staff are not only super helpful, they are personable, friendly and great company too. The rooms are beautiful, the setting is incredible with views of the lake and hills, the spa facilities wonderful and the food was delicious- we ate 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners and everything was well cooked and very tasty. We have had the most relaxing weekend. Thank you to Richard and his incredible team.

So check in time is 3pm and we arrived 2 hours early..got to front desk only to see that it would not be manned until 3pm due to staff shortages..no problem, it just meant I had to leave our bag in the car (totally my fault for arriving early).. Went for a walk and a few drinks round Keswick and returned to the hotel just after 3pm. We got checked in (room 4) which my wife recognised straight away as being the room we stayed in 13 years ago for her 40th..apparently the same decor.. Off we went for a few more drinks and returned to the hotel for a meal at 1930ish only to be told by the same fella that checked us in about 4 hours earlier that they would only serve residents..once we established that we were in fact residents I asked him what time the bar closes? His reply..”as soon as possible”.. One of the reasons I booked this hotel was because it advertised it's own beer garden so on a lovely June evening, sun still beating down when you might want a couple of drinks, in the 'beer garden' - the front door is locked at 2030 and lights out. After last night's trauma of not even being able to get a drink we went down for breakfast..honestly we are far from picky eaters but it was mostly undercooked.. Sorry for sounding negative so on the plus side...the bed was very comfortable and the hotel is actually in a fantastic location for exploring Keswick. So put it on that or not. Is this

Having read some of the negative reviews I'm very pleased to share my experience. Travelled with partner and 2 children. Stayed in family room 15. The hotel in right in the centre of Keswick and we parked in the hotel car park mid morning. Check in was easy and the room was spacious and clean. Nice bit bathroom with a bath which had super hot water and filled the tub in 10mins. Food was great for our evening meal and the breakfast which was included in the price was fantastic. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again as it was a great experience.

Stayed for 2 nights with my girlfriend and on arrival we had the option to upgrade from standard to a room with a 4 poster bed etc. We checked both rooms an took up the upgrade option. The room was massive with 2 tv's and a lovely view of the mountains and rear garden area. The 4 poster bed was great and bathroom was very modern and clean. The decor in the room itself was abit dated but it was OK didn't really bother us. Location is fantastic only 15-20mins from keswick village. The facilities onside are brilliant as there's a indoor pool which is of a decent size. It also includes a sauna, jacuzzi & steam room to relax in after a long walk in the hills. The staff are lovely and very helpful, Gemma in the bar was fantastic. The breakfast is nice that was included in the price. Overall we had a great time an will be booking again soon.

Fantastic value for money. Great facilities. The pool, sauna, jacuzzi and new steam room are all immaculate, well sized and set in a pleasnt setting with large windows. This hotel is very clean. Parking is no problem and plenty. The breakfast is spot on. Although they had a few less staff then they would like, I only new this from a sign in the building. i felt there were plenty of staff and they were all very friendly and willing to help. We used the gym at 7am, small but has a lot in it and well laid out. Good machines. We ate in the restauarnt and enjoyed it. This is our second time here, as we come to walk Cat-Bells and we will be back. Thank you to Janet who served us on the morning and i think it was Emma a new young girl. See you all soon, best wishes Bonnie and Ian

After entering with some in trepidation I was pleasantly greeted by a professional friendly gentleman who took my order and booking for dinner that night. I found a lovely corner to pitch up and settle down to enjoy my pint. Some times when you just try you are rewarded. And this is one such time. Feel very comfortable in the friendly, bright, clean and well run establishment. Fully recommend a visit. And if you can stay in the hotel or camp site next door then so much the better 👍🎊👍 Foods good too 😋

we stayed here at the start of the year , it was lovely and the layout of the rooms was fantastic. I liked that they had kept the original aesthetic as much as possible. it was nice to sit near the open fire in the lounge area and read whilst waiting for our dinner table reservation. the breakfast was fresh and hot each morning when it was served, the view from the room was lovely too, the only reason I am not giving the full 5 stars is that unfortunately due to the old building the windows meant that the noise overnight from the road was quite loud, I know this cant be helped ! staff were also very friendly.

Only stayed in this hotel for one night but can't fault it at all. Double rooms are not massive but very comfortable and contain great little touches, The free chocolate and drinks provided are a touch that probably doesn't cost the hotel a lot but is a welcome relief from the profiteering vibe most hotels portray. The hotel also has a built in chrome cast to the TV so you can cast over your own Netflix or Disney plus shows. I would also like to mention that despite the fact it seems to cater for a significant number of guests every morning the breakfast is exceptional and brought on order. (a little tip is you can ask for a cappuccino in the morning rather than the tea or coffee initially offered). Hotel is also in a great location near to a lot of nice bars and restaurants and although it doesn't have parking, the train station car park around the corner is reasonably priced and secure. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

There were no towels despite me having a booking for six people, and only one toilet roll but after asking I did get everything I needed. Also there’s no point checking in online as it’s still a very long wait at reception. Car park is pretty much non existent but overall I’m happy with my stay.

I stayed here on business which provided an idea location for my work and also was a small drive to a shopping complex! My Room on arrival was very clean carpets vacuumed and bathroom clean! Air con was a blessing as it was a warm couple of nights. Only fault i noticed was a USB socket to the left of my bed was broken where I believe people before were being forceful apart from that a clean room overall and most importantly i slept well 😊 Staff were very friendly on site and happy to help the first night they were clearly short of staff and i felt Aaron who I believe was running the shift explained there maybe a delay with food this evening and somethings maybe off the menu regardless to this managed to provide a decent meal regardless to there struggles. Checking out Jasmine and Aaron both really friendly and was a very simple process! I would stay here again in the future!!

Every member of the Hilton Team we met during our stay were fabulous- receptionist, bar staff, executive lounge team, Brightsmith Restaurant, house keeping, breakfast, concierge - all keen to help, have a pleasant chat and a laugh- yet continue to work and remain professional - very tuned in to guests and the guest experience. A credit to themselves and the hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean and I have to say the bed and pillows were the best I have ever slept in, amazing. The hotel was busy which added to the atmosphere and buzz. Yet the bedrooms were really quiet. In my opinion The Metropole has the edge over other hotels. We stayed here a few years ago and it still has that 'plush' appeal, it is a treat to stay here - it was like coming home and we intend not leave it so long before we return again. Thank you all.

Perfect base for a one night stop over before an early flight the next day. The food was lovely in the bar and reasonably priced. Walking distance to the airport and car park so location is perfect too! We used the monorail to go to the NEC/resorts world arena area which has shops, cinema, bars and restaurants. Great if you have a bit of time there as the hotel room is tiny but has everything you need.

Despite being a clean and comfortable hotel, we are still annoyed over their customer service when we wanted to change our booking as our pet died on our check in date. They would not change our booking. We did not want a refund just to move the booking to a date the following week. They refused.

First time staying in this hotel so was unsure what to think however the room is so comfortable and clean. Neli, the member of staff at the front desk, was so helpful and checked us in quickly and answered all the questions we had. It was nice to be greeted with a smile when checking in. The rooms are on the small side but the layout worked very well and makes the most of the space. The bathroom is clean and provides shampoo, body wash etc for people who are travelling light. Luckily the rooms have air conditioning which is perfect for these hot summer nights. Definitely recommend, amazing deal for the price!

Breakfast

3.8/578 Reviews
Jewellery Quarter Birmingham|0.94km from city center
There is so much to unpack here when it comes to Selina Birmingham. Never again am I staying at this hellhole of a hotel. For a name like Selina, the hotel sure is nightmarish to stay at. It's shameful that the hotel shares the same name with my non-biological/cosplay partner. There is no breakfast but at least, the bedding, the pillows and the duvet are comfy (but most likely due to the fact that I’m tired) and the wi-fi is decent. Unfortunately, this is where the compliments stop, especially when the dorm rooms are so dark, you have to turn on the flashlight on your phone in order to see. Not to mention, there is no television in the room I was staying in. To make matters worse, the dorm room is cold, coupled with no heating. I honestly don't mind the cold most of the time but the room temperature is too cold for my liking. Speaking of the ground floor, the Korean receptionist told me that I'm not allowed to eat my food at a table at the cafe and told me to climb the stairs all the way to the third floor in order to eat my food. It isn't fair, considering the receptionist with the short, dark hair tends to allow me to eat my food at a table at the cafe during the very early hours of the morning. I eventually lost my patience and yelled at the Korean receptionist. It's rare when I lose my patience. I threatened in a growly voice with, ”I suggest you fill the pot noodle to the top with water unless you want a scathing, negative review to be blasted on the radio for everyone to hear?”. Finally, she got the memo. The rooms, bathrooms and toilets and facilities are unsanitary (for example, there are biscuit crumbs all over the bed sheets. I didn't know until I got out of bed), the entire hotel itself is not accessibility-friendly as if the lack of a lift and the staff not being accommodating towards disabled people such as myself isn’t of any indication, the kitchen and the kitchen equipment on the third floor are dirty, there is no hot water in some of the bathrooms within the dorm rooms, the bathrooms and the dorm rooms are shared (therefore, there is no privacy), the lights keep turning themselves off if you’re idle (I’m more used to turning on and off the lights on my own accord), you need to pay £10 for a padlock which is complicated for disabled people and the list goes on. The toilets, bathrooms, kitchen etc are just as dirty as Badea Faulkner and Olive Allison Brown from the Avanzar House in Middleton, Manchester not cleaning up after themselves. And don’t get me started on the staff being problematic. They aren’t very useful to the point where I had to shout at them due to their language barriers and them not listening to me, let alone understanding me. This is troubling for autistic people like me. Never in all my years have I encountered such frustrating hotel staff members. Compared to the other hotels I've stayed at in the past, the hotel staff in these hotels were never infuriating. If a lack of staff doesn’t tell you the appalling

The 5th floor room was quite an experience to behold! Upon entering the wedge-shaped cave, we were met by a strange smell, which receded a little after 24 hours of opening the tiny window onto the concrete central courtyard (the only source of natural light). Cleanliness was a problem, as it was apparent that lamps and switches had not been cleaned for some time. Skirting boards had accumulated considerable amounts of dust. The brownish carpet next to the bed was threadbare and looked dirty. Decor was reminiscent of early 1970s. The beige wallpaper was falling off in places. Wood furniture was of a type that could easily have been picked up from a house clearance after the occupants had died. Ceiling stains from previous water leaks were apparent. Bathroom was that of a poorly installed 1980s design. Of course, shower bracket broken (shower head hassle to be held by hand) and there were brown stains within the bath and tiling. I swear upon using the shower for the first time that the water ran brown, but I could not replicate this later. I hope it was just rust. The toilet paper holder was at least quite humorous - pull the screw out to release the black electrical-taped holder to insert a new roll. This really is a joke. A hotel chain simply shouldn’t regard this as acceptable in 2022. We were offered free drink vouchers as compensation, but the room could not be changed as it was fully booked, due to a health conference - I hope the delegates did not leave more unwell than when they arrived. Positives - staff friendly (and apologetic), nice food, decent Wi-Fi, nice reception and clean bedding and towels.
