We stayed a few nights in Kyoto and appreciated the very central position of the hotel. Walking distance of 30 min to the shopping center of Kyoto and then Gion with the nice corners and restaurants. The hotel is very clean, i also liked the pyjamas they offered. The breakfast is bad, nothing was fresh. All veggies and fruit came from cans, american style plastic cheese and low quality toast bread. Which is poor since it is summer and fresh produce is on every corner. Good point is the free use of their restaurant area and free beverages.the hotel tries to be sustainable yet all plates and cups are disposable single use. Its garbage all over. The staff was trying hard to be welcoming and helpful however none seemed to be perfectly sure of what he is doing. Maybe languange barrier... Also their fear of making mistakes is ridiculous. Wanted to visit a special place the staff recomended and has printed information about ( in japanese i could not read) only to go there and figure out that the place is closed. The opening hours were written in japanese on the paper given by the staff....this really should not be happening. If you can manage without help getting through kyoto and need a nice and clean hotel but don’t mind the poor breakfast than you should stay here. If you need more assistance and better quality, this hotel is not for you.

Needed a one night emergency hotel room (got out of Tokyo a day early due to typhoon Hagibis), and Karaksa was perfect. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Room is clean, on the smaller side, but sufficient if you’re just there to sleep. Breakfast buffet was average. We paid less than $90, which to us was a steal. Ended up changing our hotel reservation for our return final night in Tokyo to the Karaska there, hopefully we will be as pleased.

A wonderful concept for a hotel which rewards minimalistic travel. Great facilities at the hotel which cater very well for young couples. Breakfast was great. The room was spacious for the type of hotel and the bed was modern and very comfortable. Will definitely consider staying again.

The beds were very comfortable, and the personnel were extraordinary, very helpful, and kind. The personnel made traveling around kyoto so easy, comfortable and delight to come back to rest. Also, they easily set up luggage transfer, which was perfect and reliable. The breakfast especially the mangos and pancakes were delicious. It was nice that there was 24 hr availability of refreshments and soup. The location also made it easy to get to kyoto station, bus stop and ranken station. The availability of convenience stores and daiso are so close.
