I’m here now, and the Property is beautiful but had a few frustrating things happen. We spent the money to upgrade to a 2br waterfront so that we could enjoy coffee and breakfast on the porch in the mornings. Not cheap. Upon checkin I asked if I needed to purchase breakfast to bring in, they told me no- we have free pastries to go in the morning. So when we were at the multiple pastry shops in bar harbour that day, I got nothing. Checkin paper printed and handed to us says pastries begin at 7:30. Come down at 7:30, and they told me pretty rudely that pastries don’t come out until 11:30? My only option for food onsite is a very expensive formal sit down breakfast. Visibly frustrated I was told- I can give you an apple. Cool, so my entire family is up here splitting a single apple for breakfast. Thanks guys!

Ok this place closes mid October so you have 3 weeks to go. I cannot stress enough how fantastic this place is. Here’s why. The staff. The drop dead gorgeous furnishings & comfortable sitting places be it inside or outside (don’t get me started on the lacquered backgammon table by the fireplace) the sconces, the wallpaper & fabric choices, the wicker chairs, ok wait EVERY chair. And I mean every loveseat, couch, not a stain on one - and just like yours at home, you don’t want to get up. So big props to his decorator @kellerandco. They give you blankets like other places hand out napkins. The gardens. The food at Little Fern, Fish Camp, drinks at Harry’s Bar. And IDK if it was just me but the fellow guests seem happy & friendly. Well why wouldn’t they be? Hello Sonya - general mngr, good job! I felt like I was the ONLY guest in the hotel. And as a gardener - omg. Go sit in Ann’s Beech Pea Garden. More than once. I met Ann btw. You know she’s super busy but she said it’s the end of the day so let’s walk the property. I’m a huge fan girl now of Ann Ratcliff. Her gardens are beyond pretty & she’s so humble and wants to educate you on what’s new and interesting on the grounds. So yes, was Cadillac Mountain & Acadia amazing? Totally. But waking up in this amazing hotel, where btw the on site bakery (check out the see saw next to the coffee caddy) has your complimentary coffee hot & delicious & waiting at 6:30am. Oh and the lovely barista inquired @ my stay and said there’ll be a fresh pot waiting for me tomorrow. And it was & she remembered me. It’s the little things like that. If you read a bad review on TA @ this place, and you might, it’s only because no one place or person is perfect. So sure maybe they got something wrong. My guess is if you adopt their attitude of grace, they’ll make it right. So yes the town is adorable, as are the neighboring towns & Acadia NP unreal. But starting and ending my day with the loveliest staff I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet made this one fabulous vacation. FYI, I stay in really nice hotels all over the world. So I know excellence when I see it in action. Bravo Tim Harrington. Can’t wait to visit your other properties: The Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford, The Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit. And I cannot wait to make my reservation at Asticou in Northwest Harbor. Tho let’s face it now that I’m having a full on love affair with The Claremont I’ll feel like I’m cheating & so they’ll have to share me. If you’re busy these next 3 weeks, they open back up in May 2025. It’s brilliant what Tim Harrington is doing for those of us who like nice hotels, and he hires the best of the best so yes Mr. Harrington, I’ll be back.

Incredible view, rooms and dining. We had a great experience and would definitely come again. Room was perfect and enjoyed sitting in the library and on the porch and overlooking the harbor. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. One even went in the back to get me a s’mores package after closing. Excellent customer service

We spent two days at the Claremont at the suggestion of friends who frequent Maine resorts. We heard that it had been refurbished in the last few years and it showed well. The staff, especially Carly at the Buttercup Bakery went out of her way to see to our needs. Our room, though small (it is an older hotel), was comfortable and well appointed. Acadia park is about 30 minutes drive. We walked downtown Bar Harbor and hiked the trails and Carriage Roads around Jordan’s Pond. We at dinner outside at Boston River Fish House the first night and on the second night we had cocktails at Harry’s Bar and were pampered by John. We even chatted with a couple and discussed mutual acquaintances that we both knew well. The second night we had dinner at the Little Fern. Lobster bisque, Wagyu steak tartar, grilled salmon and beef tenderloin all were all prepared expertly and were delicious. As opposed to some reviewers, we enjoyed the seating arrangement, ents that allowed conversations with adjacent guests. We spoke to a couple on their honeymoon and a retired university president and his wife who live nearby and came for dinner.

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous views and a top notch restaurant. The pool also was wonderful. However, we booked an ocean front view but our room mostly overlooked a roof. When we pointed the out, we asked for another room or a discounted rate but were denied either option. This was a disappointing response from such a high end hotel when the rates were very high.
