Stopped on spec whilst passing by for a bite of lunch and was surprised and delighted by the standard of the food produced. So good that I had to ask for the recipe. Service was excellent, friendly and welcoming and the soup we had was simply extraordinary. Thoroughly recommended.

Our one night stopover was very relaxing. We enjoyed an excellent meal and spent the evening in the peaceful welcoming lounge. Breakfast was of the same high standard. Our room stylish and the bed extremely comfortable. Overall we would highly recommend a stay in this excellently run hotel, situated in a small peaceful picturesque village.

Just had a 2 night stay with friends using The Kings Arms as our base to do some hiking in the area. The Eden Valley area and the hills to walk are picturesque, heart-warming, historic, sandstone-built English.villages, with Temple Sowerby and the Kings Arms Hotel being no exception. My bedroom and bathroom were warm and cosy. The wider 9 En-suite bedroom hotel is beautifully appointed. There is a bar area which also serves as the main dining area, plus a further lounge with a mixture of tables and settees extending the dining space or for relaxing in and a separate games room with pool and darts. An idiosyncrasy is that there are no tvs in the rooms or bar / lounge, which, for me, adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Our evening meals and breakfasts were excellent. The bar has a good selection of ales, cider, wines, teas and coffees. Special mention should be made for the staff who hosted us, making us feel welcome and running the busy bar and dining in a warm and professional manner. I read that the hotel is looking to bring further space into use in their future, planning permission willing, extending bar space and adding 3 further bedrooms including a ground floor accessible one. I hope that I get back to see how things change in the future.

Enjoyed a 3 night stay in this gem of a hotel. Our room was spacious and beautifully presented, and the bar and lounge areas bright and welcoming. All the staff were friendly and professional. The menu offered a varied selection of options - all that we had were first class, and the breakfasts were lovely. The atmosphere in the bar each evening was busy and vibrant - a mix of hotel guests and local visitors, all enjoying this super venue.

We have just returned from a most fabulous stay at the Kings Arms Temple Sowerby. From opening the entrance to the hotel you were greeted with a warm atmosphere. The entire team working there were fantastic in every possible way to make your stay enjoyable. You could have a chat and a laugh nothing was too much trouble. The lounge was cosy and relaxing. The seating area for eating was excellent too. Food cooked by wonderful chefs piping hot and delicious. Perfection . The breakfasts were delicious and a great choice on the menu. Bedrooms were very cosy and relaxing. We had a great nights sleep. Quiet and peaceful.
