We stayed here on our Elbe river cycle trip. Great rooms, friendly staff but the church bells are a bit of a nuisance - especially a prolonged session at 7 am. Early morning delivery trucks with air conditioning units running full blast sounded coming into the market square were bad also. Good breakfast and good storage for bicycles.

You probably consider going to Dresden. You know the bombed City with the restored Frauenkirche - well, don't! Go to the real beauty, the houses that hasn't been rebuilt because they havn't been destroyed, a small City that wasn't bombed at all during the war. Yes, Meissen - 20 kilometers north of overcrowed-with-tourist-Dresden. Here in Meissen lives 30.000 sachsens in a nice, quite fairytail-town with lots of restaurants, Germanys oldest Castle, the river Elben a glimpse away and of course a great Hotel: Goldener Löwe. That is where you should stay, and if you're lucky you get Room nr 103, a Junior Suite with a nice view to a square, a huge suite and a luxury bathroom. Included is a great breakfast with eggs and bacon, a lot of other good stuff - and sekt! The germans has got a great idea: lets drink sekt, sparkling wine, for breakfast! It makes the day so much better from the start :) The Hotel offers private (and paid) parking, we used it, but are not sure whether it was necessary. It is a very peacefull place. Goldener Löwe is placed in the absolute center of the little town and you can walk to anything: The museum for Meissen china (porcelain), the Castle and the Dome, the River Elb, and to all the good restaurants and cafés. But do bring your car and take on excursions in the countryside - it was here Casper David Friedrich, the great painter, was inspired for many of his best paintings. There is The Sachsien Switzerland, and there is a wineroute - they make a decent whitewine here. But forget about Dresden - and if you must go, and your probably must, then take only half a day and hurry back to Meissen...

As part of the hotelchain "romantik hotels" you know at least for a bit what to expect. High standard hotel quality with good restaurant as well. This hotel has been extended in an annex building and I got a huge room in this part, overviewing the central place before the hotel / church. Very comfortable bed, sitting area, good writing desk and spacious bathroom. Wifi of good quality. Breakfast is in buffet style with everything you could think of. In the evenings parking in front of the hotel is free of charge, during the day you can park in the garage at the foot of the mountain and an elevator will bring you up for € 1,- only.

We stayed here for 3 night with my family. And the experience was very, very good. First of all - space. The apartment is enormously huge (2 huge bedrooms, one huge living room, separate place with dinning table, a bit smaller kitchen and bathroom (with bathtub). The design is not necessarily a smashing one, but cozy, with wooden Ikea furniture, and functional. Parking place free of charge on an internal backyard (big advantage). Two supermarkets very closely located. You can get to the old town in 10 minutes by walk, and the porcelain manufacture is just 100 meters away. The personnel does not speak English, but they are helpful and friendly. No worries about that, just goot to keep this in mind, especially if communicating by e-mail before arrival. Generally - very good place to stay!

I stayed here on September 2019 for one night. The Hotel is at a very beautiful spot with view on the Elbe River and the Albrechtsburg. The room itself was clean and good. We didn't have a Minibar or Air-conditioning, we also didn't need one. So make sure to ask for that beforehand if that's important to you. The WiFi was fast. My favorite part about the Hotel was the Breakfast. It was really good and it is in that castle-like house with view to the Elbe/Albrechtsburg. A lot of different food, bread, buns, eggs, sausages, meatballs, cheese variations, smoked fish, cereal, fruits, yogurts, juices and sparkling wine. I heard that the Wellness area in the Hotel is also very famous, but we didn't check it out. I'd stay there again and my be I will next year.

This is probably the quaintest hotel I've been to. The rooms feel like you're at home rather than a hotel. Breakfast is pretty standard, but the view looking over the river was such a beautiful way to enjoy our meal. Sadly we were only here for one night but from the brochures in the lobby it looks like there are wine tours in the area. I would love to stay at this hotel again if I was in the area.
