Room service is only every other day - for a place costing well over $200 per night - that is ridiculous. No complimentary breakfast either. So many cost cutting measures that for this price, we will stay elsewhere from now on. Told housekeeping about a sulfur rotten egg smell coming from bathroom drain in our disabled access room, but nothing was done about it. And - furthermore - beware when making your reservation - if you think you will get military discount - be advised that only applies to active duty military, not retirees. I complained to Marriott about being denied the military discount at the Courtyard Mayo Marriott in Jacksonville FL. Number 1 - Their own agent handing the reservation knew we were retired military yet quoted us the military rate - that alone should have enabled a refund. Their agent made the mistake, not us. Number 2 - I looked at the website just the other day and it just says ”government/military” does not specify ”Active Duty military” - the Marriott's response said their ”policy” is active duty, etc - but nothing about making sure the drop down menu online makes that clear. Number 3 - Our daughter's husband is at that same Marriott - checked in on Sunday, 26 Feb - and RECEIVED the military discount and he is retired military. This policy is not being applied equally, that is for sure!! Very disappointed about the ”bait and switch-ness” of all of this.

During the online booking process I gave my credit card information because the booking that I did stated that payment was to be made in full for a 1 night stay at time of booking. Right away after booking I receive a confirmation stating what my total was, then stated ”less deposit amount”(amount that was to be charged, amount ”due at Check-In” $0.00. It also stated that ”The same credit/debit card that was used to pay for the room at time of booking must be present at check-in. Followed by ”Funds for at least the 1st night need to be collected at the time of booking”. So with all of that being stated on the confirmation from the hotel would you expect that your card would then be charged at time of booking for your stay?? YES! So we show up for check in only to be told that we have a balance. After traveling hours all day I am now tired and not ready to deal with this. The lady at the desk was kind but honestly seemed very unsure of exactly what she was doing. I proceed to explain to her that this was paid at time of booking. Was told that it was not. Showed my confirmation, and was still told it was not. I should have just went to another nearby hotel at that point. Had to take time to search my credit card history to find out that my card did not appear to be charged. Now is that portion my responsibility(yes it is). However. For them to send out poorly worded confirmations is not at all proper. I definitely feel mislead. Then my receipt from check in stated ”Deposit Transfer”? ”Charges” $0.00, and” Credits”(amount that I thought was paid at time of booking)? With a ”Balance” of negative the amount thought paid? So that alone would also appear as if I had paid the amount due at time of booking. After the lady at the front desk asked for assistance from another staff member with my check in(and I paid at check in) I was just ready to get my room for the night. The quality of the hotel has seemed to go down over the years we have been there. The rooms were okay minus the shower water not coming out well. In the morning we were just ready to leave and get back on the road. Proceeded to the front desk for check out. Of course I was thinking that all I needed to do was return my room key and be on my way....but that was not the case. A different lady at the front desk then told be that I HAD A BALANCE!! Are you kidding me? I just laughed at that point. I told her that their was no way I had a balance. I just went through the ringer at check in about the amount ”owed”, and was not going to be told again that I owed. The lady at the desk had to call for assistance with the matter. After that call I was told that I was good to go. I feel as if the front desk staff needs more or better training in regards to the processes that take place at the front desk. This stay was such a headache. I will be looking elsewhere when needing to stay in Jacksonville again.

Nice, easy and quick breakfast. That's really the only reason to visit the club, the rest of the day they don't offer much, not even bottled water. Would I stay there again? For that price....on business... yep I would!

From the welcoming of the staff upon check in to check out, it was all up to par! There were no cups or an ice bucket in my room. The breakfast was very good, though, with a variety of foods, including oatmeal, which some hamptons don’t include, but that I love! Overall, though, this was a clean hotel in a good location, and I would stay here again.

Soon I pulled up in the parking lot, first thing in my mind was ”uh-oh” and I walked up to the front desk, the staffs were nice until I walked in the room, it was smelly, nasty, floor (omg) there are flies everywhere in the bathroom, towel rack was broken but the maintenance came and fixed it with some glue. I wanted to check out but the room was already paid for with no refund. I decided to buy my own comforter, sheet, pillowcase, and towels just to keep me clean and safe. Make sure to wear sandals to prevent feeling dirty, oh yeah I bought some Lysol to get rid of smell and germ. The water won't drain down in the tub after taking shower. They need to burn down the whole property, seriously!

|13.43km from city centerWay better than expected. Stayed 1 night with husband and 2 dogs on our way to south Fl. I wish we could have a room like this every time we need a hotel. Plenty of convenient parking. The rooms are clean and spacious. Closet is huge plus there is a lot of drawer & shelf storage for clothes. Bathrooms are well lit and have plenty of storage space which is a big plus in my book. Nice recliner chair too. AC was nice and cold and the windows with screens open if you’d prefer fresh air. Check in was super easy. I didn’t catch his name but the gentleman who checked me in was very friendly. Laundry machines are free - they were out of detergent but convenient nonetheless. My only complaint, and this is with most hotels so it’s not really a knock on this particular hotel, the water pressure in the shower is bad. The next time I need a hotel I will certainly pick a Sonesta Suites.

TA reviews are fairly honest; which is why so many travelers depend on these reviews for their travel needs. However, a takeaway lesson here is do not go by TA reviews alone anymore. We looked at various properties, and selected this for the excellent rating as well as for it's proximity to our meeting venue. Besides being a terribly wrong decision, it was a huge health risk. As we entered the elevator, we smelt a moldy smell. Thinking it must be because the elevator was old (creaky, frayed) we went on to our room. However, the damp smell was replaced by an unpleasant smell of cheap air freshner in the corridor, that only got over-poweringly stronger in the room. But it was very late, we were extremely tired after a full day of driving, so we decided to just deal with it in the morning. During what was left of the night, we had trouble sleeping and attributed it to the loud noise the air-conditioner made. But upon waking, we had stuffy noses, a headache and feeling of heaviness and had trouble breathing. We soon found out why - the carpet was sticky wet and the damp stench in the room had only worsened. Besides this horrifying discovery, we also saw in the daylight what the very dim lighting in the room masked - how worn out the room was. Not only the furniture was dated and worn out, but the basin water pooled, bathroom shower doors were unclean, etc . and the room had an overall feel a cheap sleazy motel. The manager was herself attending the front desk when we went down to ask for a different room. She was surprised we had been put in that particular room – apparently, it was a past problem the room had. The manager told us she would move us, give a $50 credit and take breakfast off (which didn’t matter since when we checked in, we were told the room rate included breakfast) . We did not expect nor want any freebies, so we simply thanked and went on to our new room. As we processed the exchange with the manager and the fact that the employees were aware of the problem with the room , we were disturbed and horrified that a hotel employee would knowingly risk a hotel guest’s health by rooming them in a room with a moldy stench and a sticky wet carpet! The new room too had the same musty smell, although much fainter. We debated for a few minutes whether to brave out another night but decided against it and checked out without using the new room. This hotel is definitely not Marriott standard - it is really really run down and almost like a cheap motel.

As soon as we walked in the room we saw the cracked dirty looking bathroom. We paid $165 for a standard queen which we don’t mind for cleanliness and a good nights sleep. The windows were filthy, the bathroom fan was noisy and i couldn’t wait to check out. Is it my imagination that even the bedding has turned into cheap feeling sheets and blankets? Even the breakfast has gone downhill no bananas, coffee was finished at 9 am and The lady who should have been supervising was too busy chatting at the front desk to notice. I even mentioned to the front desk lady that I was disappointed that they only served light roast and it was obvious she couldn’t care less. She responded well that’s what they sent. Didn’t even bother to say she’d bring my comment to the manager. I used to love the dark roast coffee and cleanliness here. We will not return to this hotel. We are definitely considering another chain. Oh and they used yo give you upgrades from time to time for Hilton honor members but I haven’t seen that in a long time. Big disappointment. Hoping our next stop will be better.

|13.55km from city centerI've stayed at econo lodges in Europe, Mexico and across the US. I've even stayed here before. But this trip was easily the WORSE HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! My experience was so awful... at one point, I thought I was being punked. But, unfortunately - this was all real. And really degrading. After driving 8 hours to get to Jacksonville (for business), I reach the front desk at 2pm. One hour before check-in time. I ask to check in early. Denied. ”Rules are rules.” So I wait in my car until official check-in time. At 3pm, I return to the front desk only to find the sliding partition closed. I knock on it - but I'm yelled to wait because they're having a staff meeting. Seriously? I and another couple stand around in the lobby for TWENTY FIVE minutes so that Krystal and her team can discuss about the shortage on one shift and the new procedures to tell guests that they'll be doing periodic room checks from now on. (Yes, I can hear you talking through the partition.) When they were good and ready, they opened the particition and couldn't find my reservation. It seems that corporate and their website operations accepted a reservation when they were fully booked. It wasn't until 4:30pm that I could finally check into my room. I could immediately tell that this was a room from the Hell Hotel - but Krystal assured me that she would get me a new room as soon as possible. (She never did.) THE ROOM The room was dark, damp, musty and disgusting. Even though the ******-like carpeting was dark, you could still see stains on it. The AC wasn't able to remove moisture from the air - so you felt like you were living in a human humidor. The globes around the light fixtures all had bugs (dead and alive) as well as mold and mildew in them. Bugs would show up on the walls from time to time. There was a family of dust bunnies living under my bed. The bed was lumpy and well-worn. The sheets: thin and cheap. The TV didn't even have a remote. (When I mentioned this to the front desk, they suggested I download an app to control the TV.) No smoke detector. A constant drip coming from my window AC unit. THE KITCHENETTE The word ”disgusting” is too nice for this efficiency kitchen. The stove top was crusted with... god knows what. The hood vent fan barely worked. The hood vent light was broken. The hood vent, itself, was falling off the particle-board cabinetry. The sink leaked under the cabinet. The microwave was old, beat-up and gross. The only thing here that was acceptable was the fridge. THE BATHROOM Suffice to say, I have found cleaner bathrooms at O'Hare airport. The shower stall featured mold in ever crevice. The tub floor hadn't been cleaned in a long while. The laminate on the bathroom shelf was peeling off particle-board. There was no toilet paper holder available. The sink had no stopper - and was the breeding ground for mosiquitos and knats. Whenever you'd turn on the water, bugs would fly out of the overfill hole. The faux-chrome sink faucet was pitted

|13.32km from city centerThis place is amazing for a few reasons: 1) location is spectacular with several restaurants within walking distance; 2) rooms are comfortable and immaculate; but most of all, the hotel personnel are incredible. We walked in exhausted from driving 20hrs and Andy Preslar said ”I'll take care of you” and he did including getting us settled in record time and enlisting Steffan to help us park our U-Haul trailer and our truck in a great spot. Then the next morning, someone had taken the hairdryer out of our room and at 4:30AM, Beverly knocked on our door with a hairdryer in hand and a beautiful smile on her face! Kudos to upper management for recognizing the value of great employees and taking the time to hire the best!

Excellent facility. Clean, quiet. Studio room had full fridge, microwave. Sitting area and desktop were very convenient… and the walk in shower had safety features that weren’t glaring. The bed was sooo comfortable. The am breakfast was terrific! Hot waffles, eggs, oatmeal, fruit., Coffee! On a 4 am doggie out, the staff was cleaning the already spotless floor, happily listening to music and making sure things were in order for the day. The outside pool area is private and I wished there was time for a swim… maybe next time! And there will be a next time! Gracious hospitality made an anxious situation very calming . ThANKS!😋

When we arrived to the room after checking in I noticed that the toilet was not clean and there was no towels in the room. I called the front desk to ask about not having towels and the young lady at the front desk said to come there and she can provide me with extra towels. When I got to the front desk, the girl said there was no more towels. I was confused, because she had just told me that she can give me towels. So her statement about not having anymore weirded me out. The front desk girl as apologetic, but still no towels. I went back to the room, and the girl eventually came to our room providing us with towels. I had her come in and she couldn't believe how dirty the bathroom was. I didn't want to move rooms, because I just wanted to relax.

|15.78km from city centerI had a very short stay at this Residence Inn. The location was convenient to UNF and the Town Center where I had meetings. I arrived at the property very late and received a great welcome from Brian at the front desk. The room was large and clean and well laid out and appointed. I had to leave very early the next day, so I pretty much just set the alarm and went to bed. Unfortunately that is when the drill team started practicing upstairs. I’m sure the people did not mean to stomp around, but the sound carried clearly. I highly recommend getting an upstairs room to avoid being the stompee vs. the stomper. I eventually got to sleep but drill team practice resumed around 4 a.m., 30 minutes before my alarm time. I just got up and started getting ready early. So, the location was great, the front desk was great, and the room was great. The soundproofing is just not good. Again, get a second floor room, and you should be fine.
