It's been 4 years since I last stayed Hotel El Magistral. My travel group was about 50 members all staying at El Magistral for a minimum of 6 nights during the San Mateo Festival. I stayed 8 nights since I planned on being based in Oviedo while visiting nearby towns. Exe Hotel El Magistral is centrally located for all the festival activities and for walking around Oviedo. Having stayed in a room fronting the street on my last visit, I asked for a room in the back of the hotel. The room was overlooking a rooftop but I wasn't staying at the El Magistral for a room with a view. The room was clean, air conditioning worked great, WiFi was always available in the room but the bed was too soft and uncomfortable. It appears as though there hasn't been any room remodeling in the last 4 years. I'd heard the complaints about the breakfast at El Magistral, so I suggest breakfast at 2 nearby cafes. One cafe is next door & the other at the corner, both quick and inexpensive for a light breakfast. The major improvement during my most recent stay was the hotel staff. Everyone that I encountered from front desk staff to housekeeping was pleasant, courteous and helpful.

Excellent value for money. Perfect location in the heart of the historic centre. 20 minutes walk from the bus station. Clean, functional rooms with good en suite. Comfortable beds. Good quality linen and towels. Quiet high floor room at the rear. We were allowed into our room at 13.00 as it was ready. Check out 12 noon. Breakfast at sister hotel across the road was your standard buffet at a corporate type hotel. Would absolutely recommend.

We stayed 3 nights from 1st January 2020. Fantastic location, parking garage 2 doors up, discounted by the hotel. Easy route out of the city by car. Location is central to everything in Oviedo, walk to bars, restaurants and shopping, christmas markets. This is a business hotel primarily, I would say, but very comfortable with well set out rooms (we had a superior double) it was large and bathroom was very good. Breakfast was included in room rate and was very good. They were doing some upgrades to kitchen while we were there, but this didn't affect our stay at all. The Restaurant Casa Fermin is right next door.

We were in Oviedo for the first time and stayed there for 3 nights. It was a great location with easy access to public transportation. The staff was very friendly and our room was comfortable and clean with loads of storage space. Loved the personal touch including room safe and bar fridge. Walking distance (less than 10 minutes), is a wonderful cafe, 26 Grados who serves a big Canadian style breakfast (bacon, eggs and toast) with coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice for 4.50€! Will definitely be back for our next trip!

Decided on this hotel as it was in a residential area just outside of the main centre. First of all, Oviedo is a great Spanish city and has a lovely feel about it. Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the train station (and a further five minutes to the bus station) so ideally situation in that respect. However, hotel is next to a busy road and right on a junction so traffic noise is pretty constant and double glazing is practically non existent. The only way to muffle the noise is to have the air conditioning on. This is controlled by reception and unfortunately they turn it off half way through the night so I had to go down about 5am to ask them to turn it on again (as it was a very warm night - even in September!). Beds were comfortable. However, the wardrobe was ridiculously tiny so not much space to hang clothes or cupboard space to put clothes away. (most clothes had to stay in the suitcase). Bathroom was spacious and good bath and shower. A few loose tiles on the bathroom floor which were noisy when walking around in the bathroom. Had to ask for a replenish of toiletries on our second day as the cleaner hadn't left any. The outside cafe/bar area where there were a few tables was not cleaned for three days (ashtrays just getting fuller). Breakfast on the first day was fine. However, that was it. Following that we had to wait for cereals and fruit to be brought out whilst the waitress (and receptionist) were busy pandering to other guests (ie bringing them fruit juice, coffee etc). It was supposed to be a buffet breakfast so everything should have been ready by the time the restaurant opened. When we complained, all the receptionist did was make excuses, ie we like things to be as fresh as can be so we don't bring everything out at the beginning - I do not think this applies to cereal and fruit!! Our stay at this hotel was very reasonably priced but I did not pick it because of that - when searching for hotels in Oviedo they were all of a similar price. But I feel that I picked the wrong one of this occasion.

My partner and I stayed in this beautiful hotel for ten nights and can thoroughly recommend it. The baroque exterior resembles a palace rather than a hotel and the original building dates back to the mid 18th century. The interior consists two large courtyards, one of which is covered and acts as a very spacious lounge area with comfortable seating and a huge 240m patterned carpet. This area is surrounded on the first floor by a beautiful wooden balcony that you can walk around and admire the gorgeous tapestries, paintings and woodwork. Some rooms overlook the large inner courtyard surrounded by ‘cloisters’ where contemporary artwork is sometimes displayed. There are large parasols in the open area where it must be pleasant to sit in the summer months and where I assume functions and receptions are also held. Our stay was in October and we were quite satisfied with our spacious room which faced a quiet street. There was ample storage space and the king sized bed was comfortable. The bathroom had twin washbasins and a bath with shower and a separate toilet with bidet with a sliding door. Our towels were changed most days and toiletries provided and everything kept clean. A kettle was provided but we found we needed to replenish tea and coffee from the breakfast room ourselves. We bought some long life milk to keep in the fridge in the room. The hotel was excellent value for money for such a characterful place. We paid about £90/day and this included a very generous buffet breakfast with an amazing choice, although the scrambled eggs suffered from the usual problem of being kept warm for too long! We enjoyed the fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and local hams and cheeses. Churros with dipping sauce was available for brave souls who can face them first thing in the morning! The staff were efficient and courteous. It is an obvious venue for functions and receptions and we witnessed some rather glamorous people arriving for various events. There is a convention centre and many meeting rooms but we were never inconvenienced by any disturbance. The location is central yet quiet and the old city centre with its historic buildings only a few minutes walk away. There are a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and sidreria (traditional cider houses) nearby. The train and bus stations are within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance. We didn’t have a car but I think there is a underground carpark nearby. If you appreciate a hotel with an interesting history and ‘a bit of class’ then you will love the Hotel de la Reconquista.

We stayed for a couple nights on the 4th floor. Staff was really nice and always willing to help. We were borrowed a couple umbrellas after we forgot them home and I really missed going to the pool, even though I peaked and looked fantastic. Twin bedroom was outstanding, with a recently installed shower (if you can, ask for a shower bedroom instead of a bath) with rainfall effect (to make you feel like you were on the outside, but with warm cozy water running all over you). Beds were really comfortable though they moved a little bit due to the unlocked wheels. They also provided us with daily newspaper (even though it was the extremist right wing "La Razón" paper, it was a nice detail). The mini bar was fully stocked and they offered an actually pretty affordable room service despite us not trying it. TV was fairly new, hd and with enough channels to kill some time. Quite a great experience, highly recommended.

Excellent updated hotel in the center of Oviedo, still in a quiet street. Walking distance to shops, restaurant, park and all atractions. Confortable bed and pillows. Very clean. The hotel has a very basic breakfast area, but there are plenty of places to eat very close. For dinner try a restaurant in front of the hotel called "El Loco del Pelo Rojo" they have a great taste menu with 5 courses. We rented a car and they have a parking garage, when you arrive a bellboy takes the car to the garage and you pay 11 euros a day (not bad, because street parking is more expensive). I would definately stay again at Princesa Munia Hotel.

We stayed there for 2 nights when visiting Oviedo in November. We chose that place as a mix of convenient location and good price (booked through orbitz using a discount code). The aparthotel is easy to find, however if you arrive by car be aware that finding a parking place on the street is quite a challenge. We ended up on a parking cooperating with Campus and paid 9 euros per night. Reception staff was nice and explained everything we needed, including parking details. We got a studio double with queen bed. The room was spacious enough – bed, small table, two chairs and a wardrobe closer to the door. There’s a bathroom ensuite – bathtub with shower installed on the wall, big mirror (plus a small one) and a lot of place for your cosmetics. Studio comes with a kitchenette including microwave and a small fridge. It’s not brand new but studio simply provided everything we needed. Sleep was comfortable, no problems with soundproofing. We did not have breakfast onsite and we went to Granier on Avenida de Pumarin. Location was quite good – 7-minute walk to Calle Gascona (lot of sidrerias and tapas bars), less than 15 minutes to the cathedral. You go up, so on the way back to Campus it’s even faster. We were really satisfied as it was a very good price/quality ratio combined with convenient location. Would stay there again.

We visited this hotel excellently located down the block from the park and the peatonal center city where most of the important buildings, shopping, churches and restaurants are. The walk to all the action, and there was a lot of action the last night of the feast of San Mateo, September 21st, was a ten minute walk at most, but the walk back was all up hill. The hotel room was basic but comfortable (aside from the dearth of towels and soap), but the fact that you had to call the front desk to regulate the a/c, “let’s try 21 C now, 20 was too cold”, was disconcerting. It was always left at a stuffy 24, so you had to inch your way to a comfortable temperature, involving the front desk. The restaurant was excellent. The hot breakfast of eggs was made to order vs being in a buffet and the portions of everything were generous. There was always something extra included in what we ordered for dinner, and the orange juice was freshly squeezed. Be careful to specify if you want a continental breakfast only; they expect you to pay for full breakfast or go to the cafeteria next door, and the hostess doesn’t look before handing you the check. The pub at the corner of the hotel is also a great option for small bites. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Great size rooms, but request a room that looks out on the street and not into the very small court yard (if you can call it that) our first night was spent in room 101 and it forever felt like night, it gets no light at all. We were moved into a lovely room next door which looked outwards and it made the difference. Rooms are spacious and modern. The hotel is in a fantastic location for Oviedo and was very reasonably priced. I’d miss the breakfast we only went once and the continental is just boxes of cereal and orange juice we decided to pay extra for the buffet. Wasn’t a bad choice though I’d call it a normal continental and the small offering of hot food was stone cold and had been left out for some time. Though this wouldn’t put us off staying there again as it is in such a great location

The price was right, but it was a bad idea for a very rainy weekend because of the 20 minute hike into the center! That said, most of the staff was very friendly and the room was clean, quiet and had all I needed. I didn't have the breakfast becase it seems way overpriced, but there's a nice little place around the corner called La Quintana, which was great for breakfast and also good for a quiet drink in the evening.

We travelled as a couple and stayed in Oviedo for 4 nights in early June. There are some negative reviews, implying shabby conditions or outdated features. However, we definitely did NOT find anything similar. We had a room on 6th floor, looking out the front of the building which gave us a wonderful view of the cathedral. The room itself was very spacious, very new conditions and spotless. Bathroom was also new and spotless. No bathtub which we do not care, but others may desire. TV had a couple of English language channels (BBC, CNN, AlJazeera). Good cold mini fridge. Basic complimentary toiletries which was fine. Breakfast was quite acceptable too, with fried eggs, bacon, sausages, jamon, bread rolls and other breads, cheeses, yoghurt, cakes, croissants, juice, tea and coffees. Others said coffee was terrible but we had delicious coffees from a machine, so maybe the machine is a newer addition. Reception staff always polite and friendly. The aircon in our room stopped working on the last day, and the staff were apologetic and genuine that they would get it fixed for the next guest. We would definitely stay here again for an average EU76/night over a long weekend. Only 1 suggestion for the hotel - the hairdryer in bathroom need regular cleaning.

The hotel is located outside the old city, in an area that has no commercial activities (thus no cafes, no restaurants, no shops nearby). The room was ok, but a bit narrow (it had a desk, but you didn't have space to put the chair on it ...). Also, you could barely approach the toilet due to lack of space inside the bathroom (see the photos). As it was cheap, I cannot complain too much. WiFi connection had a regular speed. There were available wall sockets to plug your charging devices. The windows would open. The room was clean. Front-desk staff wasn't very friendly, and would hide behind the PC monitor so that you wouldn't see them (and so, not asking questions I presume!). But I had no problem with check-in or check-out.
