Looked with a nice view over the ocean, but a bit to far for walking distance into central Catania. Reception where nice and welcoming. Rooms are a bit small. Had a single room, but still. Breakfast was good on the fourth floor. You could sit inside or outside. I parked my car on the backside of the hotel and asked at check in to see if that was ok. They told it was not safe and that I should pay for parking in a garage. That made me feel unsafe in that area. Finding the garage in dark evening was hard. If I had rented a bigger car I would have had it even harder getting the car into a parking spot in the garage.

Liked - Nice views over the sea front, pool isn’t cold and we found it easy to get a sun lounger. You can walk through an underpass to get to the seafront, where there is a small pier with more sun loungers where you can access the sea via some steps. There’s no sandy beach, just volcanic rocks, so you have to access the water via steps. Cash machine nearby and some small eateries, lots of food vans which are popular throughout Catania. There’s also a mini supermarket next door to the hotel which is good for fresh cooked meats, salad etc as well as essentials such as mosquito repellent and bite cream (you will ). Disliked · Expensive considering it’s a 1990’s style hotel out of town (30-45 min walk). Staff don’t go out of their way to make you feel comfortable or welcomed. Quite surly at times, as if they’re doing you a favour by serving you. Despite our best efforts at speaking Italian, they were still curt and abrupt. Air conditioning is very noisy, the temperature is controlled centrally so you have to ask at reception if you want it cooler and it isn’t really effective overall. Impossible to sleep with it running. The pool area closes at 6pm and you are asked to leave a few minutes before this. During our stay, the pool area was used for private functions meaning it was inaccessible to guests. One night it was a disco and karaoke until midnight so if you had a sea view room, you weren’t able to sleep until that had finished. Satellite TV but no international channels, not even news. If I visited Catania again I’d stay somewhere more modern, welcoming and closer to the town centre.

A nice and modern style city hotel, which we selected due to location (walking distance to city center), private parking possibility and the fact they could accommodate late reception - we were arriving around midnight. Rooms are modern style and clean with a small balcony. The breakfast was ok, maybe a bit small selection of dishes, but on the other hand they were serving freshly squeezed orange juice which they made in front of us.

One of my best hotel stays ever. I Really enjoyed the central position, just steps away from the Duomo. the rooms are beautiful, modern and well-equipped. The rooftop terrasse gives you a unique view on the Duomo, downtown Catania and of course, Mount Etna. Many thanks to Sergio and his team, as well as all the hotel staff working behind the scenes. They all made my stay enjoyable and comfortable. Throughout my stay, they helped me out with all logistical and administrative burden in a kind and professional manner. If back in Catania one day, I'll definitely stay at Duomo Suites & Spa again. Grazie mille e alla prossima volta !

The service staff are very kind, enthusiastic and help solve various problems! Since the flight arrives in the middle of the night, contact the hotel to book the pick-up beforehand, and the room will be reserved until midnight. The driver who picked up the airport was also very kind. Even in the cold midnight, I felt that the driver warmly welcomed you and assisted in getting on and off the luggage! Hotel location is located in the city center, restaurants, department stores are nearby, walking distance! I was very surprised to find that the Christmas market was right next to the hotel. I was very happy. The mood becomes more beautiful! Will visit again next time

We spent four nights here in the junior suite and were delighted with the place. It's based on the first floor of a very ordinary-looking building, but once you're inside the standard of both the decor and the facilities in general is very high indeed. The room was spotlessly clean with a high ceiling, beautiful chandelier and massive bed, while the breakfast offered everything from fruit and cereal to cold meats, cheeses, salad and vegetables served in oil antipasti-style. The staff, including owner Clara, were welcoming and friendly and kindly allowed us to leave our bags on departure day so that we could enjoy more of the beautiful city - another plus point being, of course, that it's in a safe neighbourhood and only 5-10 minutes from most of the main sights. Highly recommended - luxury at a budget price.

This hotel is fantastic. The location is great very near the centre of the city. The rooms are excellent, very comfortable, clean, with sufficient space and lovely modern bathrooms. Great shower. The breakfast is lovely - lots of choice and great quality. What really sets it apart are the staff who are all fantastically helpful. They give great advice on the city. There are small but thoughtful touches such as putting a kettle in my room after observing me drinking lots of tea at breakfast. They also go above and beyond. I foolishly managed to drop something valuable over my balcony onto a nearby rooftop. Thinking it lost forever I mentioned it to the lady at reception (Guilietta). Incredibly she devoted a good hour or so to trying to retrieve it for me, using various bent coat hangers and the like. She is eventually managed to pick it up off the near by roof using some sort of homemade device. Certainly the best service I have ever experienced from a hotel. I would highly recommend staying here and will now always stay here when I return. Very many thanks!

The clue is in the title! I’ve been in Italy for nearly three weeks and I’ve stayed in 6 hotels, 3 of which are in Sicily. This has, to date, been the best hotel I have stayed in. My only regret is not staying for longer here! Whilst it’s billed as a 3 star hotel it really does offer more than a typical three star. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with high ceilings and mosaic floors. The bathroom is phenomenal with an amazing rain shower and the eco friendly toiletries are a nice touch. The breakfast was fabulous with an exceptional range for a continental offering. My only regret is not having dinner at the hotel (which is offered at an additional charge). The staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful. I can’t remember the name of the girl who helped me on check in but she was fabulous from arranging taxis to making helpful suggestions of what to see. The one minor point to note is that those rooms that face onto the Main Street will hear (faintly) the chatter from the bar across the street. The rooms have ear plugs supplied and I actually didn’t notice it. Given I’m a light sleeper that tells you how quiet it actually is. I would not hesitate to come back and stay again for longer and I really recommend that you try this hotel out.

This area is relatively off-site, it is not convenient to walk from the train station, taxis or buses are better. The people staying at the hotel are quite mixed but the hotel service is attentive. The breakfast is not rich but fresh. Personally, I feel that the whole city of Catania does not have many characteristics, so it is suitable for staying during long-distance rest.

Catania left us a crazy memory. The owner of the bed and breakfast ran away and the keys were not handed over to us. That night was the beach carnival in Catania. The hotel is very difficult to decide. No place to stay but fortunately booked one night here. Nice hotel, helpful service and good hot water. Recommended to live. There are few parking spaces at the entrance and there are parking spaces on the street. But watch out for the ZTL zone

Somewhat disappointed with our stay at this supposedly 4 star hotel. The reception areas are very smart, but once you go into the accommodation areas it becomes very shabby. Stains on the carpet, damaged hard flooring, bath areas that need some attention and updating etc. Breakfast was good but if you come later in the morning some foods are not available as food isn't replaced once eaten. The reception staff are friendly but lacking in local knowledge and will tell you to call your own taxi even though a local taxi firm told us they are the company for the hotel and offer special rates. They have little knowledge of how local public transport works and how to access a somewhat complicated system. The pool area was not available for our visit (a surprise for us on arrival,) and definitely needs a lot of care and attention. They paving is covered in ****s, the kiosk (closed during our stay) needs a lick of paint, and the sun room also needs painting and the curtains are falling down. If you want air conditioning in your room you need to tell reception as it is centrally controlled and only switched on in your at your request??? Crazy!!! No tea or coffee making facilities in your room. Unfortunately the list goes on. This is meant to be a 4 star establishment; it may technically offer all the facilities to gain that rating, but it is not a 4 star experience.

We’ve just stayed here for a week; the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Breakfast was nice, but practically the same every day. There was also no obvious way of getting lunch snacks - asking at the bar, they did arrange a pizza for us but having such a facility would be good. Our room was beautiful and very clean. The door didn’t appear to lock from the inside, which was a little odd, and they could improve on their environmental policies - for example, a note in the room about leaving towels on the rack if they’re not needing to be changed. The immediate location was quite a surprise - lots of dis-used buildings (maybe due to covid?), the beach opposite has a lot of litter on it :( However, at the rear of the hotel was a lovely park with a nice lake full of terrapins. We used a taxi frequently to go into Catania, arranged via the hotel (Antonio), who was friendly and reliable. Overall we had a very good week - also recommend the Etna and wine tasting tour (Gambini) via Enjoy Sicily.

Our time at Asmundo di Gisira was akin to staying at a museum. The breakfast room had lovely wall art, and our room was well-apportioned. Sadly, the loveliness of the decor and room were overshadowed by the overall poor hospitality experience. I believe this is NOT the place for an active traveler. It is more suited for someone who chooses to sleep-in on vacation, and have a day of lounging. Also NOT the place to stay if you have a flight at 9 a.m. (or earlier) as you will not receive the breakfast that is part of your room price. This is also NOT the place to stay if you don't want to micromanage your vacation. We scheduled a winter hike of Etna, requiring us to leave the hotel at 7:45. Thus, we were informed that we could not have the included breakfast. We thought it nice that a breakfast bag was prepared for us - until we saw what was inside it: two child-size juice boxes; two "fizzy" waters (who drinks fizzy waters on a hike?!?); two finger-sized pastries; two packages of saltines; and ONE Lidl mini chocolate bar (for us to split?!?). PERFECT for a person that is on a diet (I guess?!) and maybe ONE person (not two...!!!) at that. I advised the front desk upon check-in that we also had a 9 a.m. flight on Monday and would require a "takeaway" breakfast also that morning, as well as boarding passes printed. Well, you can probably guess, come Monday morning as our taxi awaited, NO boarding passes printed (although sent at 4:45 p.m the afternoon before to the email given to me) and NO breakfast bag (because I didn't "confirm" - huh? That my flight was exactly when I said it would be as stated upon check-in??). I was also admonished that I didn't reply to "several" attempts to contact me about check-out. Because EVERYONE on vacation wants to be reminded that their vacation will end?! (Also my departure time was stated when informing that I would need breakfast the morning of departure - and "several" is a blatant lie as there was "ONE missed call" on my phone.). I had responsibly sent a text but received no reply. This is DEFINITELY more of an Airbnb than a B&B, and nowhere close to a hotel. I am really independent as a traveler, but if I am promised certain things (breakfast; boarding passes) I am depending on these things to be ready for me. And it is just tacky to ask a guest during their vacation to confirm what the guest has already verified. Just a way to cover up mistakes, I guess. (By the way, the shower head in our room (Colapesce) shot the COLD water directly at you - soaking not just me but the bathroom floor...design flaw....) There are other choices in Catania....

This hotel is fantastic. It is very near to all of the major sites - the Bellini theatre is right behind it. We had a family room called Supernova which had a double 2 singles. The beds were very comfortable, we were able to ask for more pillows. The balcony had a view of Mount Etna. This was an extra safe feeling hotel, on arrival we rang the bell to be admitted through the gate and given the code to the lift, although there were stairs as well. The reception staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. They spoke great English. They recommended some tours of Etna and when we picked one, they then booked it for us. They also popped in and out of breakfast in the kitchen on the same floor as our room. Breakfast was great, loads of choice. Very nice hotel with helpful and nice staff, specially Lucia and Valeria who were very nice and simpathetic girls. Lucia helped us to book an Etna excursion over the phone once we do not speak italian, she was great! At first, the hotel seemed little bit old but once you get to the room and other spaces you understand that old style and feel very welcome and happy with the environment. Pros: The hotel has a parking lot (it is very small though), staff speak English; the hotel offers many activities to do in the city which some of them have pick-up services; wonderful breakfast room with delicious and well served food. The room is very clean with comfortable sheets and bed; very silent. The hotel is very close to the city centre so you can go on foot to many places. The hotel's own car park is a little expensive, depending on the model, up to 18 euros a day. However, there are a large number of public toll parking spaces on both sides of the road outside the hotel. No money for lunch breaks, up to 4.5 Euros a day, which is very cost-effective. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and our room had a small terrace facing the sea, and it was very comfortable to sleep at night while listening to the sea. The breakfast was very good, and there were some local Sicilian dessert snacks, which was especially satisfying. The hotel is about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Catania. Fortunately we didn't live in the city centre, but lived in a slightly remote but offshore hotel. (There is a road between the hotel and the sea, and friends who are particularly sensitive to noise can hear the sound of the car during the day). In addition, the swimming pool is open according to the weather conditions. When we go, it is raining and the pool is closed.

Nice local guidance on what to avoid in terms of parking and how to handle the local crowds etc. Simply excellent service. Rooms are also really nice. Spacious with very good facilities and especially the bathrooms are really nice Breakfast was really good. For a B&B with only limited number of rooms, then this was a lot more than we could have asked for. Excellent! In total then I believe this is the best B&B we have ever stayed at. The service is great. At the beginning, we received some valuable tips about the city and a surprise awaited us in the room. Every day the staff greeted us with a smile on their face and the room was always perfectly cleaned. Another advantage of this place is breakfast, which can be eaten in one of the designated cafes. We read mixed reviews about this hotel but it does the job. Rooms are reasonably spacious. Bathrooms are fine. Coffee making facilities in the room which it doesn't make clear when booking. We brought a kettle and tea/coffee needlessly. Breakfast is OK with a reasonable choice but is pretty much the same every day. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel. Receptionist at check in was helpful but going in and out of the hotel there is no acknowledgement. Location is not the best. If I came again I would stay near to Il Duomo. Very little around the hotel in terms of bars/eateries which has been disappointing. There is a bus stop right outside to take you to the Rail Station, Airport and generally around Catania etc
