Delightful family-owned/run hotel in ideal location (15 mins walk to Centre). The family have been here since the 1930’s. Really charming & friendly with wealth of helpful advice & information. Rooms small but perfectly comfortable with comfy beds & good quality linens. Although an old building & style of decor in keeping, the shower was a modern unit & delivered copious hot water. Good Wi-fi, small fridge with water etc (no tea-making facs). Excellent buffet breakfast with cheeses, meats & boiled eggs. Variety of bread, rolls & pastries plus fruit. Hotel was full which caused some queues for breakfast tables but understood this was due to everyone on holiday arriving at once (normally, during the week, business travellers gone by the time holiday folks arrive for brekkie). NY Day breakfast time extended to 11.00 am - very thoughtful. Thanks for an excellent stay Pedrini family!

A real steal, immaculately clean and comfortable at a very economical price. Rooms are basic but bathrooms are modern with great showers and everything works, even the lift to the second floor, so no problems with luggage. Instructions were clear and reliable to access the property for a late check in, and left luggage was brilliant for a late departure. Breakfast is included at the excellent Garden Bar and there is a cheap and charming trattoria, il Gusto del Tempo a couple of doors away. Location is good for city centre and rail and bus stations, all walkable. Highly recommended.

I booked this apartment through booking.com and have left a review on that site. In their response on that site they have told some fibs that I felt put me in a bad light and since I cant respond on booking. com I thought I would write a seperate review here. I genuinly liked the apartment it was very spacious and spotless clean with fab amenities. My only negative comments or scores were firstly about how I rated the staff. Well the only contact I had was via WhatsApp, so that doesn't merit a high score in my book. I am not complaining about that, just saying. They are discruntled with my score saying that they sent me a detailed restaurant and tourist guide ???, and that they they booked a taxi for us during our stay. What really happend was that I asked them if they could book our return taxi to the airport (via WhatsApp) and they replied they could not but they provided some numbers. Since I cannot speak fluent Italian (my fault entrely) I did not fancy ringing the numbers. We just walked to the taxi rank at the end of the road, which worked out fine. The second negative I mentioned was that the lift was broken for the duration of our five night stay, as we were on the third floor and both my husband and I have mobility problems we did struggle to get to our rooms. They say that the lift was working after two days and that they carried our bags up and then down for us, this is not true (as I said we didn't see a soul from staff during our stay). We did see other guests struggling with baggage throughout our stay. My review on booking.com was not very harsh, but an honest opinion about our stay there. I will add that the rooms with a courtyard view are dissapointing, they just overlook other apartments.

Nice, comfortable room on the mezzanine floor (stairs, no elevator) of an old, residential, gated building. Views of gas pumps of a petrol station outside of the window. No disabled access. No breakfast. You can check-in & out by appointment only as no one is on premises to receive you. The Guest House does not display its name or any signs; you can only find it by asking in Italian at the nearby shops. Narrow and difficult driveway parking. We waited 45 min. on the street for the proprietor to turn up to let us in. Overpriced for what it offers as it is priced as a 3-4 star hotel with all hotel facilities.

We stayed only one night in this “4 star” hotel. The rooms look great on pictures, thats why we decided to book this hotel. The reality is completely different. The room looked old, the floor was horrible I wouldn’t walk barefoot there. The bathroom was huge, guess because we got a room with disabled access?? I don’t understand the dirty rug inside the bathroom... There was no side tables next to the bed, so you have to sleep with your phone, tissues etc. There are no key cards what you would expect in a 4* place. They giving you actual keys. I had to use the toilet at the reception as our room was not ready yet. It was the narrowest toilet I have ever seen in my life. It definitely needs refurbishment. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment. Small, lacking variety and didn’t look fresh. The lettuce was rotten under the cheese and cold cuts. I couldn’t eat anything else but bread and nutella. The staff was nice at the desk, and I liked the fact that they tried to keep the old character of the building in the lobby. Wouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t stay here again.

We stayed here during a 16 day trip touring Northern Italy. This is a beautiful room! We arrived at Chez Moi by taxi as it was about a 20 minute walk from the train station - only €8. Communication with arrival instructions was by email and was very good. We were met by the lovely Anna who had the air conditioning on ready for us. She was very helpful and gave us directions to the centre of the city and recommendations for good food which we took and she was right!!! The room was meticulously clean and very modern with coffee machine, kettle, a selection of teas and coffee and biscuits all included. There was also a mini bar with a small variety of soft and alcoholic drinks which were very reasonably priced - €1.50 for water, €2.50 for a Becks and £3.50 for a small Prosecco. Really nice to have. We like a powerful shower and this did not disappoint - the best on our trip so far. There is no lift but only two sets of stairs to get to the room which is very easy. Breakfast is served in a little bar about a 2 minute walk from the B&B and was very pleasant with freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee and a croissant or pastry of your choice. Chez Moi is approximately a 10 minute walk from Piazza Maggiore which is the main square. I would highly recommend and would definately return.

This is a very clean and comfortable B&B with great prices just a 20 minute walk to the Neptune Fountain in the historic center. My room had ample storage in a large armoire and 2 dressers. There was a large flat screen tv (which I didn’t use) and air conditioning which I loved. I appreciate it the original artworks and The many framed etchings in the room. The private bathroom for my room was across the hall. The two other rooms have their own baths so this was no problem for me. There was abundant hot water and the bathroom is quite spacious. Allesandro provided unlimited supply of coffee and milk plus brioches and cookies and cereal for breakfast but the best part was his conversation. He’s very friendly with a great deal of enthusiasm and obvious love for his newborn son that he told me all about. It was extremely quiet at night and I was never disturbed by any street noise or outside lights. The room also has a refrigerator If needed. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Bologna.

I visited with my family for 1 night as a night stop. On arrival the area does not look particularly attractive & the outside of the hotel looks a little tired. But once inside the hotel is lovely & the staff very friendly & helpful. The rooms are large with air conditioning & very clean with lovely shabby shic furniture. There is a car park at the back of the hotel but it is a little small although we were able to park our cars in there. Breakfast was what you would expect of a continental. There is a very good Italian restaurant next door to the hotel which we used for dinner.

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it thoroughly! We found this hostel through the “great hostels of the world” book and we weren’t disappointed whatsoever. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, we were treated so well and made to feel at home. Big kudos to the guy who works on the front desk and the Belgian lady too who was really lovely and friendly. Definitely would recommend joining one of the “family meals” on a Tues / Thurs night, some of the best food id had in Bologna for only €5! Definitely recommend Dopa, DEFINITELY coming back.

Staff were very nice, excellent location, comfortable bed, lovely garden. But there were two fairly serious problems with the room. The shower: the shower had no shelf. That meant that I had to put my bar of soap and my bottle of shampoo on the floor of the shower and then scrabble around to try and find them, avoiding standing on the soap. This was very difficult and to be honest, scary. The only other option was to put them in the bidet, and then hang out of the shower trying to find them. Please folks, for the sake of a €10 wire basket, make your showers safe. The ‘smoking’ patio outside my bedroom window: there were some tables and chairs and ashtrays in the patio area just outside my window. I didn’t realise the impact of this until I went out for the day, leaving the window open, (there were bars, so it was quite safe). When I came back the room absolutely stunk of stale tobacco. It took ages with the fan on to get rid of the smell. I spoke to one of the staff and asked if the smoking area could be moved to the end of the fairly large garden, away from the bedrooms, but she shrugged and said there was nothing she could do. This really needs to be looked into. Second-hand smoke is a serious problem. Please look into preventing this. Thank you.

We stayed here in mid-September and Panorama is about as central as you can get in Bologna without actually camping out in Piazza Maggiore. It is easy to find; about a 15 minute walk from the railway station or bus terminal (we arrived by very comfortable Flixbus) and four floors up in an old-fashioned cage lift past echoing hallways with huge wooden doors leading to what looked like lawyers' offices. The hotel is essentially one floor of a vast building, the corridors are wide and the rooms are big. We had room 2 which as requested looked out over the back of the building, over San Salvatore church and the green hills behind Bologna - the view was amazing. Room 2 had a sink, armchairs, a wardrobe, table and chairs for breakfast and a dressing table - much larger than most hotel rooms and with double French windows and a fan. The position made it very quiet, and the fan made it very cool in what was almost 40 degrees outside. Staff are incredible friendly and helpful. When we limped back after all day walking around town they rushed off and brought back bottles of cold water. They kept our small backpacks for us all day after check-out, and were never less than professional and full of information. You share a bathroom; there are three at the end of the corridor so one was always available with a mixture of bath, showers and lavatories, all spotlessly clean and supplied with soaps. Breakfast is a help-yourself generous buffet in the hall which you gather on a tray and eat in your room. All in all, an excellent hotel which we'd thoroughly recommend.

This was just the bext place you could possibly wish to stay in Bologna. The location is superb - right next to Piazza Maggiore and within minutes of all the restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions you could wish for. We were met by the immaculately dressed Fillipo who gave us a great introduction to Bologna. The room was immaculately clean and well appointed. We stayed in Francseca and had a balcony with views of churches, towers and lots of rooves. Breakfast was in a lovely cafe around the corner where the service was excellent. My favourite thing was to open the balcony door and listen to Bologna - the hubbub of people having a good time, the bells, the singing in the churches ... just perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at the Residency Casa Isolani on Piazza Maggiore (Via D'Azeglio)! For our first stay in Bologna it was the perfect choice - directly on Piazza Maggiore!! The Casa Isolani is a mixture between hotel/apartment. There’s no reception and we received the key our two rooms upon appointment. For every question we could contact the Residency by WhatsApp and received immediately an reply. For the breakfast, we received voucher for an typical Italian breakfast (cappuccino and croissant) in the most typical and nice café just around the corner. On of the rooms (called “Piazza Maggiore”) has a balcony overlooking the Piazza and we could have stayed hours there watching the crowd on of the most beautiful squares of Italy. We were also lucky to be in Bologna for the St.Antoninio Festival, with music on the square and a huge firework, directly in front of the window! If you want silence, it’s enough to close the hermetic windows. The hotel situation in Bologna is difficult (few and very old hotels) and the Casa Isolani is an excellent alternative, if you don’t mind not having a reception service or a breakfast room. And instead you get the most incredible feeling of living in the middle of Bologna, a city I fell in love with! We will definitely come back!

I do not know what kind of guests the hotel mostly hosts but it seems that pretty much everything is prohibited (with notes taped on everything). Here are couple of examples that are against our travel philosophy and would prevent us from booking a room if known beforehand: Guests are not allowed to eat in the room. Guests are not allowed to store own drinks in the fridge. Guests are not allowed to adjust the fridge’s thermostat. Without these restrictions this review would be a 3-star review. If these rules do not bother you, go ahead. We spent 3 nights in Hotel Holiday in Bologna. The hotel room and the bathroom were spacious and beds comfortable. The cleaning of the room could be improved though. There is a small fridge (or a minibar) in the room and it could be useful – that is if you’d be allowed to adjust the temperature and store your own supplies. There is a large desk and a wardrobe in the room as well as TV. The view from our room was against the wall of another hotel corridor and natural light was scarce. The hotel is very well located although the alley it is on is not the prettiest. Just 15 minutes from the Bologna train station and maybe 10 to Fontana del Nettuno. There is also a grocery store at the end of the alley to the right and many restaurants nearby. The view to old Bologna canals is just couple of meters from the hotel entrance to the left and then to the right from the gate.

Perfect central location, comfortable room and amazingly friendly host! We absolutely loved our stay in Room 8 at these charming apartments located directly opposite one the highlights of the Old Town, The Twin Towers of Bologna (Le due Torri). The two towers - the Torre degli Asinelli (the tallest Medieval tower in the world at 97.2 meters, built between 1109 & 1119) and it's little sister, the Garisenda Tower, were a delight to wake up and view each morning from the balcony of our third floor room. We had a wonderful King Size memory foam bed which was one of THE most comfortable we've beds ever slept in! So much so, we're now looking at buying one!! Our host was incredibly obliging and helpful. He went out of his way to make sure our stay was the best it could possibly be. Breakfast is easy to find at many of the cafes dotted close-by and directly downstairs in the entrance to the apartment building. If you're interested in history and love Italian food, Bologna is an absolute treat and this place made our stay a memorable one. There are many fabulous examples of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. One of our highlights were the 40km of winding porticoes throughout the city which make it a totally unique and fabulous way of exploring the Old Town on foot. There are many different styles of porticoes, such as the wooden 13th century casa Isolani to the most famous (our favourite) and longest in the world, porta Saragozza at 4 km long! We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic weekend break in Bologna and had many fabulous meals, as only Italy can so effortlessly do. Ristorante Clavature was wonderful for the famous Bolognese "Ragù" and the Corner Bar served fantastic Italian sandwiches and pastries - each easily reached by foot from our apartment. I was lucky enough to have this weekend break at the Cosmopolitan as a special Valentines Day treat. A big thank you to my Valentine ❤️ Bologna, you were an absolute pleasure x

My friends and I had three rooms booked here. I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms near the reception area. The room was modern and nicely appointed. The bathroom was nice. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The breakfast that was in my room included fresh bread, cheese, ham, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk, water, and fruit juice. I thought it was a good selection. The reception area was open when we arrived as we had arranged. The other rooms were large and nice too. One had room for all of us to meeting and drink wine. The location is convenient to the train station (20 minute walk), restaurants, and the city center. The only issue was the large number of people at the bars below the rooms. While the windows are double and keep out much of the noise, there was some noise late at night. It did not bother me, but could bother light sleepers.

I’ve never been to a hotel quite like it; you would know where it was along the street as it’s on the first floor of an old street and you have to press a buzzer to enter. However, the quirkiness of it is plain to see with the ‘mad hatters tea party’ theme and a huge teddy bear watching tv. The hotel is small and on one floor but it’s decorated very nicely and the rooms are nice; a nice firm bed and a modern bathroom. Could have done with some English speaking tv channels though. The staff are very friendly; when you’re greeted on checkin you are asked to fill in a check in form then the manager makes you a cup of (Ily coffee) and runs through places of interest in the local area. Nice idea. Breakfast is plentiful, continental; yogurt, muesli, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, toast, cakes and pastries. One downside is that the rooms are on the roadside and it’s noisy at the weekend with locals talking and shouting until we’ll after midnight and in the morning lorries and buses. Best not open the window.

We had a delightful stay at Casa Miramonte! Luca and Marina are excellent hosts and very accommodating to our requests. They are very knowledgeable about the area and gave us great suggestions for restaurants, sight-seeing and parking. 5-star service! We had the green room, which is upstairs. The room is very clean and spacious with a large, beautiful wardrobe closet . The bed is especially comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room for our personal items. My husband especially appreciated the coffee maker in the room! Great accommodations! However, there are 37 steps that wind up to this bedroom and there are a couple of tiled steps that go down into the bathroom, so if you have any issues with mobility, you might prefer the lovely bedroom on the main floor. Breakfast was delicious! Yummy fresh pastries, fruit, juice, yogurt, cereals, coffee/tea - and I am probably forgetting a few other items that are on the buffet. This B&B is perfectly situated near many interesting sites, shops and restaurants within walking distance. We stayed for 4 nights and were very appreciative of the hospitality of our hosts. We will definitely stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to Bologna.

This is an excellent B&B in a great location, just steps from the famous leaning towers and a 5-10 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore and the San Petronio Basilica. And, it's just down the block from Gelateria Gianni, one of the best gelato places in Bologna. We had the Tiffany room, plenty large for the two of us, with mirrored armoire, chest of drawers, and separate sitting area. The thing that made it feel really big though, almost like a suite, was the 15-20 foot hallway leading to the bathroom! Only drawback--the brown wall color was a bit gloomy. This is a B&B, although an elegant one, so staff is only present onsite from early in the morning through the evening. That said, Salvatore, who was on in the morning and early afternoon, and Baddy, in the late afternoon and evening, were both extremely helpful and pleasant. Both made excellent dinner recommendations and helped us make arrangements for leaving Bologna, Baddy printing out boarding passes and Salvatore calling a taxi to take us to the airport. A particular tip of the hat to Baddy, whose warm smile, enthusiasm, and excellent English made us feel right at home. The breakfast was fine, particularly the luscious array of tarts and cakes. (Oh, and yes, there was fruit too.) A word of caution. There's no awning or sign on the street to tell you you're at the right location. 051 is one of the tenants in a building with a number of them. There are buzzers next to the door, each with an identifying label, one of which is for 051, but since there's no sign for the B&B, you need to know the building number, which is 4. All in all, a great place to stay, and we will definitely go there again the next time we're in Bologna.

This was a very interesting place to stay. What struck me was the birdsong - all sorts of songbirds and woodpeckers singing. When they stopped the owl started hooting! The casa really is in a lovely location, and it was very easy to catch the number 52 bus into Bologna and back. Travelling for the Children's Book Fair, I felt I had the best of both worlds - easy access into the beautiful city, but a peaceful environment to relax in in the evening. I loved watching the sunrise beyond the mountains in the morning. My room was spotlessly clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. I enjoyed meeting the interesting staff and other guests. I do agree with pinkchouchong that the lady who made me a delicious pasta dinner one night when the restaurant was closed, and saw me off in the taxi this morning with sweets and chocolate, was very kind. I felt very looked after :)

Bologna City Center
We stayed here in early October for one night in a Superior King Suite. This was their smallest room (from what we were told) but was a generous size, finished to a very high standard with plenty of room for clothes, cases and a table and chairs to use for self catering. The amazing part of the room was the hidden mini kitchen which looked like a large wardrobe but revealed a complete mini kitchen with fridge, coffee machine, kettle, sink, microwave etc. Great when you don't want to be looking at a kitchen! There were supplies of coffee pods, sugar and tea. There was no bottled water but I'm presuming the water from the kitchen was drinkable although as I had some water with me I didnt ask. The bed was large with good linen and was very comfortable. The bathroom was very luxuriously finished and a good size with a large walk in shower, large fluffy towels and nice toiletries. Despite being only about 8 minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore we were able to sleep with our windows open and absolutely no noise waking us - and I'm a very light sleeper. There was no breakfast included but we were given a discount voucher to use at the excellent cafe just at the end of the street which served a wide variety of breakfasts and was very good value. The only disadvantage to this accommodation is the fact it is an older building and therefore, understandably, has no lift. This was OK for us but if you are not able to climb a couple of sets of stairs it wouldn't be the right place for you.

Great location 10 mins from the main piazza and 10 mins to the train staton. The local area is buzzing with lots of bars and restaurants. The accommodation was spotless, nicely decorated and very quiet. Recommended One tip: there’s no signage for the B&B - press one of the call buttons on the large wooden doors.

Bologna City Center
Bit of a hidden gem but perfect for a trip to Bologna. We had the larger room with bunk beds for our boys. Plenty of space, we arranged to drop our bags early and the member of staff who met us was very helpful giving us great tips for our stay. There's a coffee machine and welcome basket in the room with (free) snacks. There's a mini fridge with water and drinks that are all just €1 if you take them. For breakfast you get a voucher to use in a local cafe which was very nice. There are loads of local shops if you need to stock up on supplies as well as plenty of lovely restaurants. The centre is a 15 minute stroll down the Via San Felice. Taxi from train station was €9, to airport was €15. I was slightly nervous as there were very few reviews of the place but I can highly recommend it.
