0.36km from Aldins Wunder BuffelLocated in a pleasant side street in what seems to be quite a nice part of town, there are a few bars and restaurants in the vicinity but our room was at the back of the hotel facing a courtyard and we didn’t hear any noise at night. It’s a bit of a walk if you want to go in to the town centre, but there is an underground station just around the corner, so it only takes a few minutes if you use that. The room itself clean and tidy but really quite tiny, consisting of a bed down either side and a small walkway between them. Other than that, there was very little floor space, although they had managed to somehow squeeze in a desk, mini-bar and wardrobe. A small TV was mounted on the wall above one of the beds, but other than that there was little in the way of facilities, e.g.; no safe or tea/coffee making facilities for example. The bed was quite comfy although the pillow was very thin – that said it was quite a large square shape rather than the more usual rectangle and so could be folded over on itself to double the thickness. The duvet was for some reason folded up and placed on the bed rather than being laid out ready for use. The bathroom too was quite small with the loo squeezed in to one corner, although the shower cubicle was a better size than some and was hot and powerful, although the temperature did tend to fluctuate somewhat. The breakfast room was also quite small and it appeared that additional tables had been set up in the office as there was insufficient space in the dining room. The usual continental help yourself selection was available and included juices, cereals, yoghurts, meat, cheese (although no fish), fresh fruit, tinned fruit salad and so on. There wasn’t a massive selection, but there should be enough there to suit most people I would have thought. The only hot item available was a boiled egg, and the orange juice wasn’t great, but it was ok on the whole. A basket of rolls was placed on the table, although oddly this only ever included one croissant, regardless of how many diners there were on the table. All the staff we met were pleasant and friendly, although the service did seem a bit chaotic at times. We also had to fill out individual check in cards on arrival, and the receptionist seemed to be getting a bit flustered trying to deal with all this, although there were only four of us! We also got told that we had to settle the bill the night prior to our departure which seemed odd, especially as we weren’t leaving particularly early and would have had plenty of time in the morning. This too seemed to fluster her and she ended up keying in the wrong amount and putting the card in to the machine upside down. Overall, I’ve mixed feelings about this. The location and staff were very good, but the very small room and basic facilities let it down somewhat, especially given the fact that I didn’t feel it was especially cheap.
