A comfortable garden unit in a well cared for 3-flat, in a wonderful and safe neighborhood. Easy access to the lake front, dining and shopping. A great weekend getaway or a place to call home for a few months. Public transit is nearby, trains and express buses to downtown. Ride a bike home from downtown along the lakefront.
A neighborhood on Chicago’s north side, Andersonville is known for its Swedish roots, historic architecture, and bustling urban main street, Clark Street. When you arrive in Andersonville, you feel you have arrived someplace special.

Note: Being a garden unit, take note of the dropped heating pipes, particularly if you are taller than 6'2". Please see pics.

While our roots are Swedish, we are also recognized as the “shop local capital of Chicago,” supporting the largest network of local and independent businesses in the area.

Home to one of Chicago’s largest LGBTQ+ populations, Andersonville is a community full of pride and a commitment to equality.
* Parking is free on the street, no permits and easy
* Public transit is nearby
* Walk to neighborhood shops
* Little known secret: Take express bus to downtown shopping in 20 mins along lake shore drive, optionally ride bike home along the lakefront. The train is also an option.

My favorite places are the Hopleaf for a Belgian style brewpub atmosphere, very popular and Little Bad Wolf for dining. There is so much along the Clark St strip for shopping, don’t miss the Andersonville Galleria, a collection of shops in one venue. The brown elephant is another interesting thrift store for treasure hunts. Everything is close to your location. You’ll also want to go to the lakefront, just walk east down Berwyn, then at Sheridan look for a parkway to the north of Berwyn at Sheridan to get to the lakefront parks, great place for a bike ride. Ride north and it gets busier along the path. You’ll notice a Mariano’s grocery store (my favorite one) at Sheridan and Foster (you can get to the lake from Foster as well). There are two other grocery stores close by as well, depending on the direction you are headed. Oh, another great spot you’ll need to book in advance… Chicago Magic Lounge, a newly renovated flashback to a mid century atmosphere with reminiscent cocktails and a cozy setting for a magic show, a unique experience.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Adults only.About customRules:Not responding to questions in a timely manner may result in cancellation of the booking..Respect the neighbors, particularly between the hours of 10pm - 8am,Do not dispose of anything in the toilet or hang anything on the pipes. A classic Hi USA hostel. For 400 RMB, getting a bunk in the South Loop is something to be grateful for. The location is excellent: a bus stop is just across the street to the south, a metro station to the north, and Grant Park to the east. Most major attractions are even within a 20-minute walk. The water dispenser is only on the second floor, which is quite inconvenient. Having to go downstairs every time to get water is a bit of a hassle. The downsides are clear: the decor is a bit dated, and there are no bed curtains. Plus, it's right next to the elevated Loop 'L' train tracks, so the noise is noticeable. Those with poor sleep quality will have a tough time. Personally, I don't mind; it's part of Chicago's character. There are lockers in the room for your belongings, just remember to bring your own lock. Each room has a sink outside the door, with separate bathrooms and toilets. The bathrooms are equipped with shower gel and shampoo, and amenities are restocked promptly. However, the shower water pressure in the room is insufficient. I also tried the communal showers, and the water pressure there was much better than in the room, making for a much more comfortable wash. The cleaning staff are efficient, promptly removing dirty towels and emptying trash cans. The front desk staff are very friendly, and you can ask them for fresh towels even late at night. In summary: For 400 RMB, what more can you ask for from a bunk bed within the Loop?

The front desk staff were warm and friendly. They were very patient with me, even though my English isn't great, and used translation software to help. My room had a city view; while it wasn't a lake view, I could see the tall buildings outside. The room was spacious, and although the decor was a bit dated, it was exceptionally clean. You have to pick up bottled water yourself from the front desk. The location is superb, directly across from the lakeside and a park. It's within walking distance of Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. The Magnificent Mile and Chicago River are a bit further to walk, but the #3 bus right outside the hotel makes it very convenient to get there. It's close to the business district, near the subway, and there's a Macy's nearby. There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity, and there's even a Starbucks on the first floor of the hotel, making it very easy to grab things. The hotel opened in 1920-something, so it's almost a century old and many historical figures have stayed here. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip.

Really great hotel! Staff were very helpful and super lovey! Room was amazing, and nice and warm on arrival specially as it was super cold in Chicago! Room and bathroom was clean, and even had a mini fridge to store snacks you might have bought during the day. Pillows were actually really comfy too! One down side is the gym equipment is a little outdated. I booked this particular hotel as it had a fitness center but it’s very outdated and the pins on the weights were really hard to moved/were jammed, and one of the treadmills had a dip on the middle of it when you walk on it which feels unstable. Still super great greatful they offer equipment though and great to get a little workout in on holiday!
