Seven friends and I showed up to Atacames for Carnaval with a larger group than expected, so 3 people from our group were ready to stay in Rio Atacames as we found it was one of the only hotels in the area with fair ratings. We show up and are greeted through a peep hole, and then do a short tour. After a brief inspection, we decide it looks clean enough to sleep in for a few nights so we decide to pay for a room up front in cash for all 4 nights. We come back later with our friends who will be staying there to drop off their bags, so the lady running the place takes us up to the room with towels and leaves them on the bed...which we then realize has bed bugs/eggs all over the pillows. When we bring that to her attention she rushes to a new room without a word and ushers us in there to inspect-no bed bugs are found- so she moves their bags and towels(now covered in bed bugs??). My friends are hesitant to stay there, but without a bed bug in sight they settle on staying there. Fast forward 5 hours: bedtime comes around and we head our separate ways. Once they arrived to the hotel, they checked the beds one more time-THANKFULLY-because low and behold there are more. bed. bugs. They leave and find a new hostel to spend the night before heading back to get a refund. THE REFUND WAS REFUSED. FOUR NIGHTS WORTH. The next thing I hear is that my friends had to get police and the owner of a major hotel involved to get even a partial refund (wouldn't refund us from the first night+deposit). The lady in charge and her partner stretched out the refund-paying over three days, with each day grew our frustration and their hostility: first day half in cash, the second day half in COINS which we had to count and got yelled at for questioning their counting abilities, and we came back a third day for $5.... Thankfully we have no intentions of returning to Atacames or to Rio Atacames.

Prior to booking there was a few reviews that raised a some concerns about booking this hotel, but I should not have worried - the hotel has provided a very nice base for a family for 4, to enjoy our holiday. For the price I paid for a 2-bedroom apartment in August, I was happy I’d got value for money - the place is not The Ritz, but it’s very clean & tidy and offers a great place to stay. The Pro’s: The pools - 1 x main pool &1 x children’s pool are fantastic. We spent a lot of time in the pools and the main pool is huge - and deep! 3.25M which is beautiful to plunge into on a hot August day! The staff. We didn’t see many people interact at the pool bar in the evenings - something we have seen a lot of on other Greek holidays, but at Breakfast (which is included in the booking cost), there are lots of interaction from staff keeping everyone happy. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel - the staff worked very hard to keep all food offerings topped up and the selection is great. It will get a bit repetitive over the course of a week but we tried different items each day, and the yoghurt, Greek honey, muesli & hazelnuts were a good choice instead of always having cooked items. The grounds of the hotel & pool area are very tidy and well kept, we could not fault this. Our room overlooked working farmlands, and then the sea. There’s a negative review about this, but there is no real noise from the farm, the view is beautiful and the sunset was lovely to watch each night before heading out to dinner. Cons: I struggled to sleep in the 2nd bedroom - the air con unit is in the main area so that was comfortable for those sleeping in there, but the air-con is remotely set to 26 degrees in the evenings and this took some getting used to in the hot evenings of August. The mattresses were pretty hard - maybe this is an area the hotel could invest in long term, but I did eventually get to sleep each night, to feel not to bad in the morning. Despite this small issue, my family & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would return without issue for a similar price. The bathroom was pretty compact but clean & tidy and provided ample room to shower. Regular clean towels and everyone gets a nice pool towel too. There is a fantastic supermarket opposite the hotel which offers everything you would need for your stay at great prices, and the main bars/restaurants in Tigaki are a straight 1Km walk (under ten minutes even with a 5 year old with us). This provided a nice walk after dinner at one of the restaurants. Thank you Sunset Hotel for helping to make our holiday a very happy one.

Last month we returned from another fabulous 2 week stay at Golden Sun. We travelled as a family of 6 (our children are 9,7,4 & 15months),our baby's first holiday :-D As usual nothing was too much trouble for this wonderful family! George and Sofia really went the extra mile; George got some baby milk for our tiny girl already waiting in our room when we arrived, on another occasion he brought his own TV to the bar so 2 football matches were catered for! The BBQ that the family hosted was delicious and the moussaka and pastisio cooked by George's mam was stunning!! It was really nice to meet other hotel guests who had been returning to Golden Sun for years and years. Also other guests from different hotels who have been returning to Tigaki for 20+ years. This confirmed to us that there is really nowhere else we would rather be :-D We have even more fabulous memories from this visit and we will be back next year...we're already excited :-) See you next year, love from the Harris family :-*

These apartments are run by a lovely family who cannot do enough for you. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and the owners had waited up for us and left us a bottle of water and some beer in the fridge which was most welcome. The apartments are spacious, having 2 beds in the bedroom and another in the lounge/kitchenette area. They are a little bit off the beaten track but it’s only a few minutes walk to the main street with numerous bars and restaurants. The apartments don’t have a pool but we used the beach or the pool at the Albatross Apartments so this wasn’t an issue for us. We had a lovely stay here and would recommend these apartments for a nice laid back break.

Only a few minutes walk from the waterfront, restaurants and shops. Maybe a 10 min walk to Lambi beach - great long beach filled with beach clubs and restaurants that have loungers and umbrellas. We were welcomed warmly by Susan when we arrived and she offered to help us get our bearings via town map. Her recommendations were great as we hit up some of the beaches she suggested as well as restaurants. Our room was very clean and had a small balcony with table and chairs. Fridge in the room as well as a small kettle stocked to make tea or coffee. Hair dryer in the bathroom plus toiletries and lots of towels. Bed super comfy and absolutely appreciated and loved the sheets and pillows. Lots of outlets and by the bed side tables. Wifi was great. Shower hot and good pressure. Lots of mirrors in the room and a full size one for us gals! Breakfast is optional at 5€ and my guy enjoyed a few times. Loads of food! Eggs, bread, jams, cheese, meats, olives, tomatoes, yoghurt, juice, coffee/tea, etc. Cute little outdoor courtyard to enjoy your meal. You can also purchase water, pop, etc at a cooler near the front desk which is great if you arrive late. Cindy was super helpful to assist us with renting a car. She made the phone call for us and the car was brought right to the hotel. Talk about great service! Absolutely recommend this hotel and commend the owner on his great staff and all the personal little touches Olympia Hotel offers. Thanks!!

Was staying in this hotel because I was in town for business and oh my god I would’ve rather paying myself for a different hotel just to not stay here. The hotel is outdated and therefore does not look good, and just smells bad. But that was not the problem at all, The problem is that the staff was just rude (there were a few who were nice but all of the other were not helpful at all and there was one front desk lady who was just the worst.) Here are a few stories; •First when we arrived at the evening (9 ish) to check in we asked a breakfast to go for the day after because we were not able to attend the breakfast, the lady told us we can’t ask for that now and that we needed to call them until noon before we got there (while flying) because now there will be no one in the kitchen. (Wait does that means that they make the sandwich the morning before and just leave it there untill you take it the next day??) •at another time we did ask them the morning before but eventually my friend made it to breakfast on time so she didnt eat the take away (2pieces of bread with 1slice of ham, 1slice of cheese and 1slice of tomato, and an apple) and when she wanted to enter the breakfast she was told that it’s her problem that we asked a T/A and that they dont care she doesn’t eat cheese with ham and therefore didnt eat the sandwich and that we needed to tell them that in advance (I never got a sandwich as breakfast and I travel a lot for work. It’s usually ingredients and you can eat whatever you like) They just told her to leave and if she want breakfast she will need to pay for it again. •we wanted to go for a picnic and forgot to buy salt so we thought it will be okay to just ask a little bit of salt in a plastic cup. When saying this to the front desk lady she literally rolled her eyes, laughed at us mockingly and just called the kitchen and said something in greek. And then no eye contact, no OK, nothing. Just set back down and looked away so we went to the kitchen ourselves. •we were ordered a single room with double bad, so I asked to add one person to my room, (something that again I do a lot and usually they dont even charge extra, or just charge a few euros for breakfast if we want.) The lady told us it will be 25€ a night (the difference between a single room and a double with breakfast while booking is 8€ which is what we thought that we will need to add) We were told that without breakfast it will be 20€ (extra breakfast costs 10€ so why is the “discount” just 5?) ((FYI for this price and maybe a little extra you can [and should] take a new different room in a much nicer hotel)) •the pool is tiny and is in the middle of a room made of glass in the middle of the breakfast area, and it only has 2 chairs in there. I saw baby pools that were larger. •the hotel has no parking!!! It says they do but the “hotel parking” is just 6 places on the street with a small sign that says hotel, no one is in charge with that and the locals who live there

Stayed three weeks in this lovely small family owned hotel. Location - perfect in the center of Kos town between two streets, close to the harbour. You could think that it is noisy due to the location in center but no. It was quiet. Room - was cleaned everyday. Bed and bathroom linens probably changed everyday. That's how I felt at least. Room was small but it had a good bed, air con, fridge, hair dryer. Bathroom though was quite small but I managed with it. Breakfast - it was good and had a lot of varieties. Service - everyone were really helpful. All questions were answered and issues solved. For example I needed laundry service and asked where is the closest laundry. I was asked to bring my clothes in a bag and they'll fix it. And they did, I got my clothes back clean. I can highly recommend this hotel for everyone. Please notice that there're quite many stairs but also an one person elevator. Thank you so much for everything during my stay.

i can imagine that a few months ago, this hotel must have been a rather nasty place. However, you can tell it has been completely renovated very recently. We stayed in the exec. suite for three nights and my word, what a stay it was! Not only was the suite super-spacious but also super clean and the staff deserve a medal. Very friendly, highly attentive and very welcoming, mostly young people working there. I love little gems like these. And I quite frankly haven't experienced such a nice stay at a ocean front hotel ever before. The cuisine (for what we tried) is outstanding! Priced in the ok-but-not-every-time-league your bang for the buck is guaranteed at the Albergo Gelsomino. Soooooo, to the downsides: There is none really. Just bear in mind you're not in the countryside. In other words, you will hear some surrounding noise when u go to bed early. But honestly, after a day at the beach and after a couple of caribbean storms (a signature drink, totally recommend) you just sink into that bed sent from the greek gods themself and falls asleep. Note: get up early to see the most beautiful sunrise from one of the balconies (yes, you have 4 access to different balconies.) So, few things to consider: - when will i be back? - whom do i have to bribe to get hold of that mattress? - will francesco succeed with his barber school? THANK YOU GELSOMINO-TEAM FOR AN AWESOME STAY

Paritsa hotel is the perfect place to enjoy your vacation. This family run hotel is right in the center of Kos, 100 meters from beaches, restaurants, shops and the city life. Always super clean and tidy, rooms are equipped with a very comfy bed, AC, free WiFi, a fridge and a balcony to enjoy the breeze in the evening after a day at the beach. Breakfast normally is buffet style (with local products) but now is served in the outside area, as per recent sanitary rules. The staff is always attentive and welcoming us with smiles and friendly mood. Can’t thank enough Nikos, Manolis and the rest of the family for the great time here in Kos during our stay. Strongly recommend Paritsa!!!

I've just return from a three day business trip from Kos.I choose MARITINA a nice cheap city hotel at the middle of town.We were a team of three persons and we reserve a nice room with three beds at the second floor at the backyard of the building(No 219).Nice decorated, good dimensions, with a nice flat tv a safe deposit box(without charge)and a mini refrigerator. At the lobby area there is a bar and also an internet corner .There is a small parking zone at the front of the hotel(the space is very limited only for three cars.Of course there is a small problem with the doors of the rooms. You must take care to close carefully. There a pool bar with a small pool at the upper floor of the hotel,Nice to have some relaxing time over there. The prices at the bar are logical. All the stuff are very helpful and polite. The breakfast area located next to lobby. It was nice but I expected more. There is free wifi at all the area of the hotel.I read some reviews about the A/C at the rooms but ours was functionalThe only negative was the small balcony and without view. Thanks a lot all the staff.

Slightly concerned about a mid October holiday but there were blue skies every day. The free airport transfer was very efficient (40 Euros plus if you are making your own arrangements.) The hotel is a 15 to 20 mins walk to the centre of Kos Town (Nice walk to the daily newspapers flown in at 2.00pm). Magnificent views from the two balconies across the sea to Turkey and the interesting comings and goings at the Marina also seen from the rooms. Though the room was on the main road side we could hear no traffic noise at night. Beds were comfortable and very clean with sheets being changed regularly along with daily bathroom towels. Balcony had a small table and a couple of plastic armchairs. The flat was spacious in both bedroom and living room with a couple of extra sofa beds in the living room. Small dining table. Furniture was 60s utilitarian style but clean and in good condition. In kitchen end, fridge was fine but cooking facilities at a minimum. Two -in tandem- electric hobs, a microwave, and no oven. But three excellent tavernas close by towards Kos (third one an Aussie/Greek - great ambience. Bathroom appears to have been retiled and furbished. Hit and miss hairdryer. Good shaving mirror. Good over the bath shower - big stepdown - bags of very hot water. Toilet flush amusing though efficient. We had a slight leak from the toilet fresh water pipe. Two visits from plumbers plastering cement over the nut did not resolve the problem. Wifi was good with the occasional reconnection. Television a bit of a let down A CNN station in the lounge but no English channels in the room. but the Greeks are into English films with Greek sub titles so saw a couple of good ones. All the staff are quite lovely Room cleaners, Reception staff, and Bar Staff - all can't do enough for you. Excellent snacks brought out for you round the pool. Beautiful and spotless very large swimming pool. Sun beds and umbrellas round. Whether because of fewer numbers or season lateness, those booking bed and breakfast or evening meals were required to walk 10 mins to a sister hotel. So was happy we had not booked that way. All in all a great holiday. Thank you !!

First class hotel, friendly staff, exceptionally clean so top marks for housekeeping. Upgraded to sea view, which at £150 for 10 nights seemed quite steep plus hotel tax. Must say the view from our first floor room (134) was amazing as was the room itself with tea and coffee facility, very comfy gigantic bed and the maid was a really lovely lady. Enjoyed the breakfast, everything there that you need, and lovely to sit outside on the terrace and watch the world go by. Yannis who looked after the bar looked after us very well indeed, made some lovely friends there. Nice rooftop pool with plenty of sun beds, cafe up there was very good too, although the water was freezing. Went late season so wasn’t overly busy. Lovely walk around the harbour and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The Christina that you can find in the harbour is a fabulous boat trip with friendly staff, good food and lovely cocktails, not to be missed.

Giorgio, the owner, was always very ready and willing to give us extra advice about places, bus routes and trips around the islands. Also Auntie was super nice. The apartments are very well furnished, with electric cookers, all the necessary to cook from the first day (one pot, one frypan, various spoons, etc). Towels and bedwear are changed every day. Bike rental is literally two places to the right, the mini market is at two minutes walk and the super market at five minutes walk. The city center is about 10 minutes walk from Esperides. I would absolutely advice you to choose Esperides for your trip to Kos, do it now!

We spent a week at the Astron . Our room had a balcony overlooking the harbour. Really lovely and very relaxing, to sit drinking tea and watching the boats go in and out. I would say its the best situated hotel on Kos. Right in the centre of town so plenty of restaurants and shops about. In the harbour is the ferry to Bodrum and the day trip ferries too so it's easy to book trips. The nearest beach is a short walk. It is more shingle than sand but the sea is very warm. The breakfast was included in the price and very nice, again with harbour views. My only complaint was that the website said there were pool towels and there weren't. I complained and they have since taken it off their website. We travelled with Tui and only had 15kg luggage allowance so packed light and left towels behind as we thought the hotel provided them. The swimming pool was cold so we swam in the sea which was warmer. The Jacuzzi was drained and out of order. The staff were very nice. It is worth paying the extra for the harbour view, it really makes the stay amazing.

We chose for the hotel to collect us from the airport and we were glad we did, as our flight had been delayed by an hour and a half and it was almost midnight when we landed. Hotel was in a quiet part of town, but close enough to walk to the main area's. Our room was comfortable and breakfast was included. There was no choice of breakfast, but what they provided was adequate for our needs and better than expected.
