Palo Alto
|1.88km from city centerVery good stay experience, first of all, the surrounding environment is very comfortable, is the center of Palo Alto, but not the big city of San Francisco, called downtown, there is a main road, beautiful and prosperous. Stanford University is right next to me, I go to the campus every day. It’s much more comfortable than living in downtown San Francisco. The breakfast was very good. The room is comfortable and quiet. The only downside is that the room is small, but I don't mind this.

|1.64km from city centerI didn't realize how beautiful and charming this hotel would be. It is really lovely. Lobby is full of history, nice little plaques explaining the fireplace, wrought iron lamp, etc. Room was simple, spacious, clean, airy, and extremely comfortable. Excellent reading chair, desk chair with height adjustment (thank you!), great toiletries, very quiet and peaceful. Very friendly down-to-earth desk staff. Fantastic location, totally walkable everywhere. Coffee in lobby in the morning. Would gladly stay here again.

|3.67km from city centerI cannot say enough good things about the amazing people who run this hotel. I had medical appointments in Palo Alto on consecutive days and needed a room that could accommodate my desire for certain covid mitigation/precautions (room entry from outdoors, and individual AC units.) I spoke with Roger who not only confirmed Zen Hotel’s protocols and features, he also told me they host many people who are in town for medical issues (Stanford Hospital, and other large medical facilities, are nearby) so the staff there is very careful. A few days prior to our visit, I emailed to asked for additional measures, and Jorge, the Front Desk Agent, acknowledged my request. We arrived, checked in, noted that my request had been honored, and had a quiet, comfortable visit. When I arrived home the following night there were two messages from Jorge, and one from Roger, who had called early the previous day (prior to my arrival) to ask for my credit card info which had somehow not been logged into their system. They were sold out and needed confirmation of payment from me, but — long story short(er)—I didn’t receive the messages until after I returned. They had every right to cancel the appointment but did not. They gave me the benefit of their doubt, and their commitment to serving those with medical needs. I keep getting teary-eyed, writing this. Such decency and kindness! When I called today to thank them, Jorge told me, had they had to cancel the reservation, they would have found accommodations for me in one of their affiliated hotels. I’ve never experienced this level of customer service and care from any other hotel. So thank you again, Roger and Jorge and Zen Hotel Palo Alto. I will most certainly stay at Zen again (and make sure you have all the info you need in advance!)

Palo Alto
|4.42km from city centerThe main building is in poor shape. The entire building is severely sloped with about a 3 inch drop every 10 feet or so. If you are not accustomed to it be ready to get somewhat seasick for a day or two get accustomed to it. The worst part is sleeping with your head significantly lower than your feet. Horrible. If you must stay there insist on a room in the newer addition. On the positive side the rooms were super clean and staff was friendly.

|4.39km from city centerBreakfast is very simple. There is only one coffee table and sofa in the room. There is a parking room. The room smells. It may be a smell. There is hair on the bathroom towel. It may be because it is cheap. The occupancy experience is not good, but it is really cheap compared to other local residences.

|4.48km from city centerThe facilities are very new and the rooms are very clean. The breakfast was rich and the staff was very welcoming. They even packed hot eggs and bread for us before we had to fly on the last day. The surrounding communities are very safe, and the nearest commercial area is about 2.5 kilometers away. Overall, it's a good choice for business travel.

|4.32km from city centerI've stayed at Dinah's twice in the last few months and each time have been impressed with the rooms and the ambience, and most of all the friendly and professional staff. The rooms are clean and--for the price--well appointed. I like the the whole thing: the ponds and fountains and ducks (and ducklings in the spring), even the section of El Camino on which it's located--one of the slightly less busy commercial strips in Palo Alto.

|1.78km from city centerTHE GOOD: The hotel was recently renovated, rooms are nicely renovated with beautiful bathrooms. A nice size fitness center and a small but nice pool area. THE BAD: Wifi was absolutely horrible, there was ZERO wi-fi service in the lobby, restaurant or pool area. The Wi-fit would connect for 2 - 3 seconds then drop. When I asked the attended at the café if I could use the Westin Meeting wi-fi I was told no, they don’t have the password. In my room every so often the wi-fi would drop and it would take 20 – 30 minutes to reconnect!!! Furthermore, the power outlet at the desk was dead, there was also no power near the bed to plug in your laptop! Sadly, the food and beverage offerings at this hotel are on par with a Holiday Inn Express. There is no full-service restaurant, just a grab and go café which serves mediocre food. There is a limited breakfast buffet in the morning with poor quality food. On both mornings of my stay the scrambled eggs were a rubbery mess, the breakfast potatoes lacked flavor. The only item that seemed decent to eat were the fresh berries and bread. The quality of the food from room service/grab and go was also upsetting. If you want a full-service dinning experience, you are told to walk over to the Sheraton…. really? BTW: I was told the hotel kitchen is also located at the Sheraton, food is not cooked onsite at the Westin. Hospitality at the hotel is hit and miss. The front desk seems pleasant, but staff were very hesitant to go the extra mile to please… they lacked the hospitality soft skills I have experienced at other hotels of the same caliber. Café staff is very unhelpful, not very friendly, I receive a far better guest experience at my local In-N-Out Burger. In the end if you are expecting an upscale hotel experience in the Palo Alto / Stanford area the Westin disappoints. For the price I would expect a memorable experience, one where you would hate to leave and could not wait to return. During my stay I was looking forward to leaving, I really felt like it was a waste of $$$ and time staying here. When I left, I felt like I had just stayed at a Holiday Inn express with upscale rooms. Hotel should be rebranded... it's not an upscale full service hotel that is about hospitality with a mindset of wellness.

|2.45km from city centerThis is an old-fashioned motor inn in the heart of Palo Alto. It has pet friendly rooms for $30 extra, which is cheaper than other places we looked at. The room was small but sufficient, and was very clean. The bed was comfortable but the pillows pretty flat.. The staff were friendly. The location was in walking distance to restaurants. There was no breakfast to speak of, just prepackaged pastries. If you have a dog, you have to walk a couple of blocks to get to some grass. All in all this was a great place to stay on our trip.

|4.24km from city centerI am currently at the Palo Alto Inn and really happy with the overall experience. The manager could accommodate some additional requests I had, the room is very big and receives almost no noise from the traffic. Cleanliness is great. The rooms are well equipped - fridge, microwave, tea+coffee machine, TV, safe, plenty of USB charger ports. There were some complimentary drinks and sweets as a nice bonus. The location is OK, you have to walk 15-20 minutes along the El Camino in either way to hit places with some choice of place to eat or do groceries from, but that's not terrible. If you are driving anyway, it does not matter. You can also take a bus. --- Martin

|2.63km from city centerWhat a pleasant surprise! We traveled to the area for a medical appointment. I am a light sleeper and was looking for a place to stay that was not directly on busy El Camino Real. The Creekside Inn is a sprawling property with lots of character. It’s comprised of many buildings overlooking beautiful trees, flowering plants, and a (currently dry) creek bed. We had a deluxe king room that was scrupulously clean. The mini refrigerator and microwave were nice touches. The king bed was super comfortable, and the large shower in the bathroom featured a rain head shower head with great water pressure. We had a large patio overlooking a serene courtyard. Best of all, there was no traffic noise! I was disappointed that the deli onsite was closed on Sunday when we arrived, but there were several restaurants within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I can say is that the doors to the rooms are quite heavy so you can hear your neighbors coming and going. I’ve already booked my next reservation and this will be my new go-to

|2.39km from city centerFrom the nearest car hotel to the location, the waiter at the front desk had a good attitude. I used the app to talk to him very smoothly. Check-in includes daily self-service reception at the reception, with slices of bread, milk, fruit, coffee, orange juice, cereal, etc. It is too convenient for me. Is the price expensive, who makes him in the center of the universe?

|5.92km from city centerI had an incredible experience staying at SureStay Plus of Best Western in Mountain View. Manager Samir was a fantastic asset to the hotel, always ready and willing to help with whatever we needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was peaceful and tranquil. I was able to take long, hot showers with hot water coming out of both the tub and sink right away. The breakfast was amazing, with so much variety - from fruits, eggs, meats, breads and more. We had access to speedy internet and a TV with a great selection of channels. The staff were friendly and helpful with all our needs. I was extremely pleased with my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fair and honest service experience.

|1.55km from city centerWhat a great experience! We had a fantastic, one night stay, at El Prado. Sara, told us, that she was putting us, in a beautiful, spacious, room. She was not kidding. We stayed in room 404, very quiet, super comfortable bed, and very spacious. Her coworker, at the front desk, told us our dinner reservation, at nearby, St. Michael, was a great choice, a wonderful restaurant. He was right. The El Prado, is a beautiful, quiet, centrally located hotel, with great staff, at the front desk! Thank you Sara, for the beautiful room!

Nobu Hotel can be highly recommended as a business hotel. However, it is not suitable for families. We stayed for ten days and occupied a total of three rooms. The rooms are nice, modern and tidy. However, you can save yourself the extra price for a Ryokan room. The bathtub is, at best, suitable for a footbath. Dusting behind the furniture is not a big deal either. I dropped a sock behind the bedside table, and when I picked it up, it was full of dust. It's a shame when everything else is kept so clean. The beds were fantastic, and it was very easy to fall asleep. However, you can hear much street noise when the rooms face the street. If you are easily startled out of your sleep, you would be well advised to take a room facing the back. We booked our rooms with breakfast and had a lovely feast every morning. The breakfast menu was small, but the avocado toast and French toast quickly became our favourites. The other breakfast dishes are also recommended. The valet service is highly recommended if you come to the hotel with a car; parking spaces are scarce everywhere in Palo Alto. The service was always amiable and courteous. Our departure day was a bit stressful, as we could not check out later than 1 pm for a room. We had already vacated two rooms at 10.00 am. However, our flight did not leave until 8.00 p

|4.05km from city centerPros: (For this part, this hotel deserved a 5-star review) 1. Rohan the front desk manager was nice. He made me feel welcome. He acknowledged the Hilton gold member status right away and offered the perks without me asking. He offered $ 10 breakfast credit or additional reward points.Which I picked the breakfast credit. He also gave us an upgrade to a bigger room and waived the parking fee. 2. The room is really clean and everything in great order. For example, the bathtub held the temperature of water for a long time and the shower drains fast. The bed is firm, which I like a lot. The thermostat, the refrigerator, the TV, etc all in great condition. The edges of the bathroom walls or around the bathtub also looked very clean. 3. The gym, the swimming pool, and the hot tub are all well maintained.4. The location is really good. Close to all the places we need to go. 5. The room does not have any strange smell. Cons: (For this part, one star out of five was removed) 1. Billing system: Used the Hilton app to checkout on my mobile phone. The pdf of the receipt never arrive in my email. So I went to the front desk to ask for a printout of the receipt. That was when I found out that all the perks (waive parking fee, breakfast credit, etc) promised at check-in for gold member status were not honored and my credit card was charged. The front desk manager could not find the credits in the system until I mentioned Rohan's name. Then the credits were finally applied and I got a new receipt. So it is always a great idea to make sure you review the receipt before leaving the hotel to avoid surprises like that. 2. $12.95 continental breakfast per person is steep, considering what you get. There are just some cut fruits, pastries, and bagels, and Quaker instant oatmeal in the cup. I was expecting some eggs, pancakes or hash browns for that price. I don't recommend it unless you need the convenience of eating breakfast in the hotel and you are given the $10 credits. 3. Instructions about the facility are lacking: I could not find the pool hours and breakfast hours on the hotel website or in the app. I did not see any posted signs about the hours, either. Had to ask the front desk for information. 4. The blackout curtain in the bedroom cannot totally be pulled to the center to cover the entire window. It left a big gap (about 4 feet wide). got woken up by the bright light early. 5.$15 parking fee.

|3.09km from city centerIt takes about seven or eight minutes to drive to Stanford. The room is very spacious and the space for activities is large. The boss is very enthusiastic. Before we checked in, we turned on the electric heater and the TV was switched to the Chinese station. You may know that we are from China by looking at the name of the order. Fair, if you need hot water, talk to the front desk when you check in. A kettle is provided and parking is free
