0.31km from Atelier GoldsteinI don’t know how they do what they do for the price we paid. The building is gorgeous (if you’re booking a twin room ask for the tower room unless you have mobility issues) and having a book with historical pictures in the lobby is a lovely touch. The decor is dated but everything works and is spotlessly clean so really, who cares? No safes in the room but staff are trustworthy (I left around £50 of English money in a bag in the room and it wasn’t touched). Beds were comfy but if you need a dark room take an eye mask. There’s a playground next to the hotel so great for kids! No lift and there are steps up to the front door, so if you’ve got mobility issues check before booking. Staff were very helpful, excellent English at the front desk and enough English from the waitress at breakfast to be able to be understood (she was also patient with our attempts at German!). The breakfasts are AMAZING. They varied day by day but typically included lovely large fresh bread rolls, a plate of cold meats/cheese/fish, a fruit salad, lebkuchen and something hot like an egg. You’re in easy walking distance of the Sudbahnhof (less than 5 mins) to get you into the more touristy parts of the city, or you can also walk for 5-10 mins to a LOT of good restaurants. TIP: book a table in advance, when we went in on spec we were turned away from 5+ restaurants one night. Highly recommend this place, would stay there again.
