From the bottom of my heart I'm thanking the owners of this hotel. Apparently it's been going down many generations in this family and since they are caring so much for the customers I feel obligated to share my words about the amazing stay we had. Read more about why it was good below. The price is alright, the location is even better, but the service they provided was beyond my expectations. The day we were going home it was raining the whole day, and we thought about paying for a day-room, but they let us use the breakfast hall to relax for several hours and feel as comfortable as home. The owners lives there so it feels like a home in many ways. Thank you for being so kind to us through everything. We will come again!

Full instructions received ahead via sms to retrieve the key. However, one instruction is missing. How to get from that location to the building where the apartment is (it is in another road nearby). Luckily we were able to call the owner who explained over the phone. They need to explain that more clearly in the instructions they send. The kitchen and glassware were not very clean. The sofa is very uncomfortable. Otherwise, everything was OK.

Needed to stay a night near the old city that also had car parking. This hotel turned out to be just the thing (probably best that your car isn’t too big though as the entrance may just have been made for a horse and cart...). We did a bit of a reconnoiter a few days earlier as we wanted to impress the kids with our local knowledge (not helped by getting lost driving in). Negotiated the roads (eventually) and parked successfully in the dungeon. Met with the wonderful staff who were ever so helpful, including directions to baby clothes shops (don’t ask). We arrived several hours early (despite my best efforts with the GPS) and we got quickly sorted. Close to everything we needed (and baby clothes...). Cafes, trams, restaurants, bars, aspirol spritz(es), you name it, its all handy. Travelling in the fridge that doubles as the lift to the rooms is an adventure. Equally fun on the spiral staircase. The rooms are good, quiet and clean. You’re here for the city, so enjoy. Worth all of its two stars! Recommend it. Enjoy.

This hotel was fine. Excellent location – right next to the main square of Montpellier and in the center. A nice breakfast. Service was fine and room was ok and bathroom was modern and very good. My room was quiet and the bed was good. This hotel is not modern. Only four hangers in the closet, which is a problem. The heat didn’t seem to work well, but I don’t use much heat so it wasn’t a problem for me. The lobby is a bit shabby. There is a restaurant/bar attached, where breakfast is served. They have an agreement with the Comedie Parking, which is a great place to park and very convenient to the hotel. All in all, the hotel was good and I’ll probably stay there next time I’m in Montpellier.

Spent 5 nights at this place. Was my first time at this hotel,Must admit it is a lovely boutique hotel with an old world charming entrance. There is an ancient elevator inside as well-but sadly does not work any more. Housekeeping is top notch.Room is extremely tastefully done and the best part-you get to open the windows,so fresh air is never a problem. The front desk staff are extremely warm and helpful-a special mention to Jacob Breakfast is not very elaborate, and if it is a long stay like mine,it can get very boring and tiring especially when there is nothing new to expect or see on the counters. That is the only con that I can think of this place. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the Comedie which is the town center.Tram stations are closeby, there is a monoprix supermarket as well.Walking distance to the long distance train station as well. The airport is 15minute drive away. The hotel has tie-ups with taxi companies and all the cars that I got were immaculate and the drivers top notch and professional. All in all an excellent place to stay in if you are in Montpellier and definitely the most reccomended one. PS:Yes,they do not have a problem with food deliveries via Uber Eats,Deliveroo etc and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Stayed four nights at Hotel Campanile. I had a 6th floor room facing the train station. Although the room was small, I found it to be well laid out, best utilizing the space available. My bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern with excellent shower pressure. During one night of my stay I did experience the noise issue others have mentioned. At first I thought it was an air pocket in the water pipes until I found the source of the sound. I opened the window latch (window still closed) and that solved the problem. The staff at reception were very polite, professional and welcoming. The hotel location is great - across from the train station (zero noise thanks to soundproof windows) and a short walk to virtually all of Montpellier’s major sights. Note, this hotel is attached to Golden Tulip so just watch which entrance you use.

Having stayed here ago about 18 months ago when I was delighted with my choice, I was really looking forward to returning to Montpellier and this hotel. Sadly, standards seem to have slipped a little since my first stay; the room was clean but looking a little tired and the breakfast buffet, a highlight of my first stay, was very variable this time round. Whilst much better on day two, on the first morning the presentation of food was absolutely atrocious. Take a look at the photos I have posted of the disgusting clump of undercooked croissants & pain au chocolat that was on offer. Most unappetising! It seemed to me that the breakfast area was very poorly resourced with just one staff member to prepare food, replenish stocks and clean up. They say nothing is ever as good the second time round and sadly I feel the same way about this property.

My husband and I stayed here for a week whilst attending the ILA language school. We didn't pick the accommodation (it was picked by the school) but we were really pleased with the quality of accommodation and the location - we could easily walk to most places in the centre of town. Travellers from some other countries should be aware that there are some odd quirks - for instance, having to pay €7 for an extra towel should you want one (this is unheard of in the UK). The staff were generally lovely - our air conditioning did break during the stay but they were helpful and friendly in getting it fixed. The only low point was checking out this morning (17/08/19) - we asked the woman at reception where we needed to take out our rubbish to (another quirk!) and she gave us some vague directions in the other building. I went and searched the entire ground floor of that building, but then came back when I couldn't find it. She actually huffed as she grabbed it from me and said she would take it out herself. As someone who has previously worked in the service industry around the world (hotels, restaurants, bars), I found this behaviour shockingly rude. All in all though, that was just a blackspot in a great stay.

Hotel location is very good, about 200 meters to the left of the building is polygone (there is Lafayette, monoprix supermarket and some other shops such as city sports, fnac, etc.), about 200m on the right is the square, some shops nearby, such as adidas original, in the city The center, clothing, food and shelter can be solved (but the convenience of France is not as convenient as domestic). The hotel is very clean, the room is not small, unlike the domestic one-off supplies, no slippers, take care not to slip, the TV only French. The front desk is on the -1 floor, and the individual has been walking the entrance and exit of the 0th floor. Maybe the other side - there is a main door on the 1st floor, no attention.

We stayed in room 903 on the top floor which had a mezzanine for the bedroom and living area downstairs so not really suitable if you cannot manage stairs. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout . Check in is a bit odd as you select your little plastic bottles ( one of each per guest)of shampoo, shower gel etc and were told this is to help the environment. Surely with all those little plastic bottles it would be much better to have large refillable bottles in the bathrooms? Or maybe it’s an excuse to simply stop pilferage? Anyway the room was very comfortable especially the excellent bed and we slept well despite being opposite the train station ,the double glazing works well.Good duvet and huge TV’s. Bathroom was fine, typically French small bath and small towels. Lovely breakfast. All very modern and new with good access to the old town.

As a backpacker, this hotel was conveniently located right across the street from the train station, not even a 5 minute walk. The food and main square was also just a five minute walk from the hotel. Check in was quick and the room was spacious and beautiful. Check out was a little difficult as I used point to pay for my rooms but I was still charged city tax. It wasn't much but I thought points would cover it all. Breakfast wasn't included but could be purchased for 10 euro. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in Montpelier.

We spent several days at Hotel Mistral during the recent heat wave. It was absolutely delightful. The AC worked great even when temperatures reached historic highs. The rooms are charming with lovely color schemes, comfortable beds, and a great French feel. The location is terrific - quiet, but within easy walking distance not only of the Place Comedie, but also of the train station, several small eateries and (important for us) a great laundromat! The neighborhood is wonderful and diverse. Best of all are the staff, who are super helpful and knowledgable. We arrived early and they bustled to get our room ready right away. They were great sources of recommendations for everything we needed. We're delighted to know of Hotel Mistral and will definitely stay there next time we're in the area.

Please avoid ROOM 201 - see pictures. This hotel is in need of serious renovation ! Came in late and left early. Landing on 2nd floor is so dirty, full of holes and so stained ! Smelly, dirty room. Worn out, dirty, heavily stained carpet with cigarette burns, that was coming off the floor in certain areas ! I think this was also an upgraded room. The sofa has seen better days - soiled and burned. Didn't risk sitting on it directly, so put a towel on there first - checkout the pictures Had medicine to go in the fridge. Unfortunately I hadn't realised the fridge wasn't working until it was time to leave the following morning. Bathroom shower head was so low. I practically had to kneel down to have a shower. People smoking outside with smoke coming into the lobby. I could even smell it when I opened my window on the 2nd floor. Given the state of the room, I avoided breakfast. Checkout (just like the checkin) was lame and void of emotion. When I said the room was in poor condition, I was just handed the bill and the chap walked away... Perhaps this is why I didn't receive a survey request... so I decided to do my own. As a regular gold customer of Accor, this by far the worst stay I have experienced. Accor, you should be ashamed. Will probably get an inappropriate response if I get one... Will NOT come back !

We have spent almost a week in the self catering accommodation. The reception was always friendly, helpful and professional. We have requested a good month before our arrival a room on the top floor with a nice view. The reception fulfilled a half of our request. We got a room on the top floor facing the fire station and they were a bit loud in the morning and evening. Hence, we weren't completely happy with the quietness of the place. The apartment had a little kitchenette which had all basic necessary items for us to cook. The bathroom was a nice size. The room was a good size too. It's about 15 min walk to the tram station, but on the plus side only 200 yards behind the apartment was a beautiful chateau, good wines and beautiful gardens. The journey by taxi from the airport took us about 8 min and costs €29 whilst on a way back we have used public transport, two single tickets are €3.20 for the tram and €3.20 for two tickets on the airport bus. The journey took us about 25 min plus walking to the tram station 15min. Overall, the facilities of the place are reasonable, the town is clean and nice. We weren't impressed with the massage service, was overpriced for what was offered, back massage only €40 per person..for 30min....it was too gentle, it felt rather like stroking not massaging. Unfortunately, the woman doesn't speak English so if you have any pains you can't explain ...your help is Google translate or the reception.

This was my second stay in the hotel. I felt like the quality of cleaning had gone down since my first stay last year and the pillows were not very comfortable. I still enjoyed my stay because it is close to La Comedie and there is air conditioner (I’ve heard that many places in the old part of the city don’t have AC). It is also great to have a kitchen and living room area. I stayed there by myself as I was studying French and, although the receptionists told me that the area was safe at night, I didn’t feel safe walking from La Comedie late at night. However, conveniently, the tram stops right outside of the hotel, which is great. Lastly, it is very convenient that they have a washing and drying machine but I must say that it is a bit expensive as it costs 5 euros for washing and 4 euros for drying.

Montpellier City Center
Fantastic apartments, everything newly renovated, clean and extremely comfortable beds, the little kitchenette was very handy as well. Parking was reasonable too, in comparison with other places we stayed. Montpellier is a beautiful city and Appart’ City is within easy reach of the centre of the town. We either walked or took the tram. Tram station located very close by. We we on a road trip around Montpellier and surrounding areas, travelling with my small dog. We booked here, due to good reviews and the fact it was advertised as dog friendly. However, when we arrived we were charged an extra 8 euros for my dog and an additional 14 euros for city taxes! This was not mentioned when we booked and to my mind I had paid in full for the two nights we were due to stay. Other people with pets should be mindful of this when travelling. If it was not for the extra charges, I’d happily give 5 stars. I would probably stay at an Appart’ City in the future too, but obviously now work additional charges into my travel budget, if away for a long time.

Nice stay at this Courtyard by Marriott and great dinner at the attached restaurant Oléo Pazzo. The hotel has the nicest staff. The young man that checked us in was amazing. Treated us like long lost friends!! Our room was gorgeous and upgraded since we are Lifetime Titanium Elite Marriott members. Nice corner wrap around balcony overlooking the river. Linens were superb, bed was comfy and lovely bathroom stocked with great towels and nice toiletries. Very comfortable. Robe, slippers and coffee and tea in the room. Also we had asked for help with dinner plans. The young man suggested their own restaurant for dinner as weather was horrible outside with a lot of rain. He made reservations for us which was very nice of him. Dinner was at 19:30. We were greeted by a group of nice men. Waited on promptly. We speak no French but the servers all spoke very good English. We both started with a soup, French Onion for my husband and butternut squash for me (9€ each). Both were very tasty and served with organic breads. (Sorry no photos) Our mains was salmon with risotto and mushrooms (23€) for husband and the vegetarian plate (16€) for me. Salmon was moist and a large cut. All cooked to perfection. Timing between soup and mains was very nice. Overall SURPRISINGLY good for a restaurant attached to a hotel!
