4.86km from Autocarrozzeria EuropaI was looking for a central location in Tuscany where I drive to or take the train to the cities in the area. San Miniato seemed like a good fit and the historical background of this hotel seemed to fit the charm part. The hotel is within walking distance of the town center and you actually drive under it to get to the front office which was well staffed. My room was in the annex which was across the street in back of the main building. Take the elevator in the main building and exit in the back and cross the drive to the annex. Our room was on the second floor (no elevator in annex) and was spacious with a couch, desk and wardrobe. You insert your key card in a slot to activate the electricity. The card can go in two ways and seemed to direct the card the wrong way and I had to call for help. It took 3 days for the staff to explain that there was a different way to insert the card. The A/C in the room was marginal so we opened the window in the evening but learned that an open window also inactivates the A/C so don't open the window to vent the bathroom. Parking for the main building was in front and there was parking in front of the annex which required a very tight turn to go in or out. The continental breakfast had a nice selection of breads, scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, fresh fruit, sweet dessert and drinks. Seating was inside or outside in the fresh air on a small patio. Service at the hotel was good and, once I learned the eccentricities of the room, was quite pleasant. On Tuesday nights in the summer, they close the small central piazza in town for live music. You might have trouble getting to the hotel. There are a few small restaurants in town that are quite pleasant.
