Island of Ortigia
Siracusa
|1.22km from city centerNice location on a side street within easy reach of the bridges between Ortiga and Syracuse. Close to the Ortiga market and great ice cream nearby. Comfortable room although slightly odd design with a very long but quite narrow bathroom. Had some difficulty closing the bathroom window which made the first night a bit noisy. Good hairdryer provided. The building is quite quirky so if you're lucky enough to go when the roof terrace is available for breakfast it involves a bit of an expedition up different staircases, along corridors and a final winding stair up. But it's well worth the journey as views from the terrace are gorgeous and a really lovely place to sit & people watch. Not much spare space to actually set out breakfast but they maximise what they do have and the cheesecake and tarts in particular were delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful and city maps available if you're doing detailed exploring. Overall a very good stay & would recommend. A little better soundproofing in the rooms against both internal and external noise would be useful.

Siracusa
|0.97km from city centerThe hotel was small but stylish. Modern and very clean with twice a day fresh towels. I was very disappointed with the room that was given to us. It had windows that were frosted but we could not see outside. There was no mirror in bedroom but there was an iron and ironing board ( that was a plus). Bathroom was big but shower was slippery. The staff both at reception and at breakfast were extremely efficient, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was disappointing, too many wishy washy things and hot breakfast was extra. We asked for beach towels and we had to rent those. For the price of this hotel you would expect some things to be given to you as a matter of course. Jacuzzi was never used on the roof top garden and never saw any staff up there to offer any service. Parking was available for free but once you moved it was pot luck to find one again.

|12.58km from city centerAfter reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried about what the experience would be like. However, from the arrival, the staff were friendly and professional as well as being efficient. The rooms we had (three couples) were in the modern part of the hotel, overlooking the golf course with the pool to the front. They were all clean and well appointed with most things you'd need for a few days break. The service for the one dinner we had was great (especially the restaurant manager (Marco?) in a busy and pretty dining room, the food was good, not great but good and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were good with a good variety but I would agree with some of the other comments that freshly pressed orange juice would have been good to have. Lunch near the club house was nice but as many people finished playing gold at a similar time it could get busy and the service was sometimes a bit hit and miss but as the staff were friendly we found it more amusing that irritating. There was one waitress who looked very stressed and needed to smile a bit more! The pool which we though would be closed was actually open and we were able to swim along with quite a few others, it was missing a lifeguard which we were told about but that was not a problem (a bit chilly in October). The pool and surrounding area was lovely and well set out. Pool bar was shut as it was out of season. I has a massage which was excellent and reasonable priced however, the actual spa needs a bit of an update and was quite damp in places. Unfortunately the Turkish bath did not have heating (broken) but looked lovely. Overall, beautiful building and grounds (don't play golf so can't comment on the course but those that did thought it was ok), in a peaceful and tranquil position-bit expensive if you want to go to Syracuse (recommended) but then we knew it was roughly 20 minutes away (taxi for 6 was 60 euros). Staff were great and I'm glad we spent a long weekend there.

|1.12km from city center4 star hotel in great location
500 meters south to Ortigia Island
2km to the north to reach the archaeological site park
Rich variety of breakfast
There is free parking on the side of the road at the entrance. There is an enthusiastic uncle in the shop opposite to tell me how to park better
The roadside room is noisy due to the sweeping work in the early morning, but the balcony is great. There are gains and losses, right?

|0.28km from city centerWe were 3 days in Siracusa we stayed in this building, we found ourselves well, immersed in the green, very nice place. Stefano owner is very gentle and super available. Top breakfast, very rich and good. If I ever happened to this place, I would be happy to return to us. I had read a review where they mentioned it as an aggressive dog and that, in addition, flowed (No comment) , when I met him I came to laugh immediately , it is of a unheard sweetness would not hurt a mosque (only a few sprays 🤣) Moreover, it would not have the strength to run anyone is a adorable grandpa!!! P.S attach photos of the wrathed dog, and one while trying to steal me a kiss 🤣

|0.76km from city centerThe hotel is very comfortable and comfortable, with a terrace reachable by staircases, to enjoy the view of the city (in sundays as in the ugly). Complete availability of accessories, renewed daily if used. Cleaning, gentleness, courtesy, warmth, and above all, sweetness (in all senses) of breakfast, thanks to Donatella. Finally, a nice conversation with Annalise, ready to listen to the requests of her guests. I mean, a truly familiar welcome, which made my working stay an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful holiday, even in the low season, when, despite the Christmas holidays, the fermentation of the citizen takes a break. These four days in Noto (with a touch and a run to Modica), between walks and musical moments, have only strengthened my visceral bond to the land of Sicilia, in which I am not looking forward to returning.

One side of the ground floor has a sealed window wall and the air cannot be changed.

Island of Ortigia
Siracusa
|2km from city centerWe were able to obtain a simple but comfortably furnished room with a most adequately furnished kitchenette, small dining set, and comfortable side chairs at this easy hotel for a very reasonable price. We had a slice of a pretty view of the sea from our window balcony. We also had easy access to a rooftop terrace which was never crowded and enjoyed our cocktail hours there. We stayed at the hotel nearly a week and couldn't have asked for better staff, who were knowledgeable and courteously helpful. At the continental buffet breakfast, the staff were happy to bring you a cappuccino or expresso. The hotel is centrally located in Ortigia and we walked all over the island. There's a handy hop on hop off bus to go to mainland Siracusa with a stop near the hotel. We loved wandering the neighborhood alley-like streets immersing ourselves in the Sicilian lifestyle.

|1.68km from city centerMy wife and I spent 3 nights at this old convent in Ortigia, the old part of Siracusa. We were given a room on the third floor, with a small balcony overlooking the Ionian sea and, to the north, Etna looming in the distance behind the city (about 50 miles away). I believe this room had the best view of any place we’ve stayed. David and Cinzia at the front desk were extremely helpful, and recommended several good restaurants during our stay. This hotel was an ideal base for us to explore Siracusa by foot, or to just hang out and enjoy the view from our balcony. If you manage to get a room with a sea view, sunrise is not to be missed!

|2.27km from city centerSelfishly - Part of me doesnt want to write this review because id prefer for the Hotel not to become too popular! But i promised to sing its praises - so i shall… It’s a real gem of a place - exactly as the description says, full of antiques and art and dripping in an effortlessly elegant, palatial, charm. Our early arrival didnt phase the reception staff, on the contrary, Francesca warmly assured us our room would be ready an hour before check-in time. Complimentary drinks offered by the drlightful Erminia and served on the grape vine festooned terrace helped ease our frazzled spirits and sink us into the calm, quiet elegance that is Henrys House. We had a city facing room which was modestly sized but with everything we needed to be comfortable. Towels plus beachtowels and parasols were an unexpected perk. Bathroom was gorgeous and clean. The fact there are several sea facing sheltered terraces to sit on meant we felt able to meander, spread out, and chill with the most fabulous sea views at every turn. Its a perfect ‘watching the sunset’ spot - best on the island i think. Breakfasts were quite simply fantastic. And im gluten free celiac so frequently have to put up with inferior options, but not here. The buffet choice was extensive, suitable for carnivores and veggies and celiacs. The artwork and interior styling added to its sense of ‘old glamour - tastefully re-envisioned’ and the ambience throughout was relaxed, peaceful and totally welcoming. Francescas skilled assistance and care when we had flight issues was amazing. She went above and beyond to help sort out the issues, allowing us to continue enjoying our final day there. Sadly three nights wasnt enough, so i shall just have to return 🤗🙏❤️

|1.96km from city centerWe were greeted by two smiling, fine young gentlemen, both made us feel very welcome. It was a difficult day because my wife was not feeling well so their professionalism put us at ease. The room was great (205) with a balcony and sea view. It was scrupulously clean and comfortable. The morning of our departure my wife was still not feeling well so I asked for a late check out. Lasindu, a top notch hospitality pro, first said another arrival was coming and an extra half hour was all they could manage. But a few minutes later he knocked on our door and gave us another 90 minutes. What a relief! Service with a smile while going the extra mile…a very good experience!

|1.39km from city centerWe stayed at this B&B for two nights in May. They were extremely accommodating - due to our travel schedule, we arrived before the normal check-in time and needed to leave before reception opens for check-out on our last day. The B&B prepared a room an hour before normal check-in AND allowed us to pay our bill and leave keys in the room before the normal check-out period. We were really pleased with the service they provided during our stay. As for the hotel itself, the rooms and common areas were very clean and tidy during our stay. We booked just a normal double room and while it was small, it was clean with a comfortable bed, great air conditioning, and a full-sized bathroom. The breakfast was very nice, mostly pastries and fresh fruit with coffee. The terrace is lovely and provides a great view of the harbor. They also keep it open all day if you want to just relax up there outside of breakfast hours. Lastly, it is in a great location right along the water in Ortigia. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

|1.14km from city centerAs a small family hotel, we can't expect too much, but it's still worth staying. The location of the hotel is good, it is very convenient to go to Ortiga Island and the city center. The owner of the hotel was very enthusiastic and took the initiative to guide us to the scenic route and introduced us a very delicious Mediterranean restaurant. As a family hotel, the rooms are clean and tidy, which of course cannot be compared with large hotels. Mainly in terms of facilities.

Siracusa
|3.99km from city centerWe booked a ”villa” with a pool at this resort in May 2023 so that we could stay in one place with our son, daughter-in-law and toddler grandson. The pool had no shallow end, and was freezing cold. The villa had no ”kitchen” or ”family/dining room” area, except for a tiny table near the coffee maker at the back patio door. The weather vacillated between warm and cold temperatures, sometimes rain, and the resort has no amenities for families except for the beach. The beach and sea were nice, when the weather was good. There is no bar, no game room, no casual dining area open all day. The front lobby is a big, pretentious marble-floored atrium. There is no life in it, except for one person at the front desk. The resort was understaffed. The dining room was cold and unfriendly, with no variety in the morning buffet food. We never ate dinner there because it did not open until 7:30 p.m., past our normal eating time, especially with our toddler. The only other option for eating during ”off” hours was to have food delivered to the villa, which we had to do for several lunches and dinners. Eating restaurant plates of fancy food on your lap or tiny table squeezed into a tiny corner of the villa got old very quickly! The resort is not close to any other restaurants that are open all day or on the earlier side of the evening. The drive into Ortigia is about 20-30 minutes, including finding parking -- we did that a couple of times. We stayed at Minareto for 5 nights, and honestly, could not wait to leave. It was unbelievably expensive for the very poor set-up. It was not a good experience and I would not recommend for families. On top of that, the resort required us to pay a 50% deposit in advance through a bank transfer (which involved a trip to the bank, payment of a fee and a lot of hassle with my bank to get it right) -- it did not accept a credit card for the advance. We were allowed to pay the remaining balance by credit card when we checked out.

|0.9km from city centerThe hotel is only 200 yards from the main street of Noto which is where everything is situated. The hotel is small but our room was perfectly adequate for the 4 of us and I know if you wanted larger rooms they were available. The staff were super friendly and helpful, particularly the lady who ran breakfast. Breakfast was very good, including the option for an omelette or a more traditional sicilian style. Our only quibble was with the AC which wasn't able to handle the 35 degree heat we experienced. If we turned it off when we went out we returned to a 30 degree room... We got around this by leaving it on when we went out which wasn't great. That said we totally loved Noto and this hotel was a great place to base a stay. Would definitely return.

|1.09km from city centerThis hotel is a very good option if your looking to stay outside Ortigia but close enough to walk. Its only 7 to 8 minute walk across to the historical center. The hotel was clean and a good reasonable option. There are a few flights of stairs to reach the rooms but Mario who as very helpful, was happy to assist with our suitcases. Travellers with cars will find this a good option with free street parking available in walking distance. We were able to leave out car there for our few days, once you find a park!

|14.63km from city centerOur Italian friends brought us to this new hotel and I have to say, the staff at Kapuhala was one of the best service in all the restaurants we have been to in this area. When we first arrived we were given a tour by the owner (an Italian gentleman who lives abroad and spoke perfect English) who explained to us about their mission. The whole estate is full of plants and many of them are harvested and cooked in the restaurant for the guess. After a drink by the pool we tried their farm-to-table dinner and it was amazing. Fanusa
|0.39km from city centerIf you are looking for some peace and quiet near to Syracuse then you can't get much more peaceful than Caiammari Boutique and Spa Hotel. With its immaculate gardens, two huge swimming pools, good sized rooms and absolutely lovely and anazing staff, it really is somewhere to unwind and relax. The breakfast is very good and includes homemade cakes made by the owners fair hands - it's work it just for the cake! The restaurant offers a limited number of anti pasta, first course and mains. All were a very good standard and traditional with a modern twist. As the menu doesn't change, if you are staying longer than say 3 days it is advisable to start to look outside the hotel for dinner options. The restaurant is closed one day per week, so again it will be necessary to leave to hotel (although the owner volunteered to come in an cook pizza for those guests that had no car). This leads me to my next recommendation - transport. The property is close to Syracusa and Ortiga but is a car/taxi journey away. This includes some of the nearby restaurants. A taxi ordered via the hotel is €25 one way, a taxi return from the rank was €35. All taxis come from Syracusa so its roughly the same cost regardless of destination. For the odd night, it's OK, but to do this for several nights becomes a little costly, hence why a car is thoroughly recommended. Regarding the state of roads and fly tipping, which you may have read in other reviews, this sadly is endemic across Sicily in non-tourist areas - even the road to the British War Cemetery is littered with rubbish. This is way beyond the control of the hotel and they should not be held responsible for something out of their control. It certainly does not detract from the property itself. Finally bring some mosquito repellent - the little rascals are across Sicily - inland, Mount Etna, the seaside - they love the taste of tourists.
