As I had recently retired, we decided to go on holiday for a week. We decided on Berlin. I had not been there since 1977! We were looking for a small comfortable Hotel and after looking through the Web, decided on the Bonverde Hotel in Wannsee. The name Wannsee was in the back of my mind, but I couldn't remember where I had heard it from. The Hotel is clean and tidy and the Staff is wonderful!. Smiling, friendly and helpful. The one thing I had a problem with was the fact that Reception and rooms are up two flights of stairs, which was a problem for my wife who has just had a knee replacement.. We spent one night in Room 9, but it looks directly on to Berlin Wannsee Station, which has trains 24 hours a day! It's not really a problem, the closed windows cut out a lot of the noise but I can't sleep properly with the windows closed, so I asked for another room. No problem - Room 4. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable. The Restaurant and Bar served nice food and drinks, reasonably priced, so no problem there. It may sound a bit strange, but I really like trains, so the Hotel was perfect for rail travel to and from Central Berlin. We bought 2 Visit Berlin Tickets, which gave unlimited travel on trains, trams and buses. Cheap, at 46 euros each. Car parking was easy. There is a small public metered car park about 50 metres away from the hotel for a maximum 10 euros a day. We used the train so much that it was 5 days before we took the car out to visit Glieneker Bridge and the House of the Wannsee Conference, which were a 10-15 minute drive away from the Hotel. I remembered where I had heard of it. I could ramble on about the Bonverde Hotel. It's a nice, well run Hotel with really nice staff members, Well worth a visit and great links to Berlin Centre.
