      Wasn't sure on writing this review as like with all treasures, there's an interest on keeping them secretly hidden. We had been to this hotel in 2019 and eagerly waited for all covid restrictions to be lifted to visit again last week. What's very surprising is not just the high-degree of quality this place manages to achieve (in all aspects), but also and maybe more astonishingly the ability to maintain sky-high standards notwithstanding the high turnover of staff inherent to both the industry and the current employment market. It speaks volumes about the management of this hotel. I can list name after name, because the friendliness yet professional approach has a lasting impact, but I'll list 2 which deserve a particular mention. Elizaveta M for making the children's experience so fun, educational (very strong env. sustainability theme in her agenda) and safe, and Oggy, who drives the achievement of an unrivaled hospitality experience which combines the fine-dining approach of Paris, the character of a Roman taverna, and the friendliness and warm smiles of your beautiful Cretan island. Thank you so much! See you in 354 days (not that we're counting!).

      The rating relates to the travel period August 2021 (Corona) and room 115, traveling as a couple without children. Normal requirements for equipment and food, no luxury travelers. Hotel in general Completely renovated and very stylish, chic and modern, rooms, restaurant, bar and pool area. Few parking spaces in front of the hotel but about a 2-5 minute walk public parking lot day ticket 5 euros. As it seems usual in Greece, the safe in the room costs extra, towels from the room are not allowed to be taken to the pool, some can be borrowed for a fee. Since the pool can also be used by non-hotel guests, it is unfortunately not possible to use it spontaneously, either you reserve in the morning with your towels or at the reception. Because of the non-hotel guests the pool occasionally becomes a children's pool when 10 small children practice swimming and diving. Very central location, the old town and the beach can be reached quickly. Meal Breakfast as a buffet was completely sufficient. Dinner as a buffet, salad and desserts very tasty, main courses relatively little choice and not our taste. Unfortunately, the food was also not labeled. Half board does not include drinks, 1 liter of carbonated water and 2 wine costs 12.5 euros. Corona requires disposable gloves and wearing a mask at the buffet, but this was disregarded by many guests and unfortunately tolerated by the staff. The atmosphere in the restaurant area is calm and relaxed. Room 115 Standard Room First floor and balcony to the street If possible, take a room on a higher floor to have a better view and more quite. In the case of small things, the design was more important than the function, so you can only switch on the light in the bathroom next to the entrance door, the shower partition is too narrow, the entire bathroom gets wet when you shower, no doormat in the bathroom. The room was very badly soundproofed both from the street and from the hotel hallway. The beds are very comfortable only the pillows were too hard for us.       Veneto Boutique Hotel

      My husband and I have just stayed here for a 5 night break and it was fabulous. We stayed in room 106 which had a small balcony and a sun terrace. The sun terrace was a great surprise and I think it’s the only room in the hotel that has one. Such a lot of character in this beautiful old building and it has been beautifully restored in to a hotel. Everywhere is immaculate. We were room only and liked to eat breakfast by the harbour, but we had breakfast here one morning before going on a day trip. It was only €5.00 each and for that you had a lovely little selection of hot and cold food, juice and coffee. The yoghurt with honey (also have the tahini with it, it’s a great locals combination) was delicious. Had we have been staying here a few weeks later we would have loved to have eaten in the outdoor courtyard restaurant (there is indoor seating too), which you could see from our little balcony. Having read a lot of reviews, it sounds like their restaurant is one of the best in Rethymon. You are surrounded by lots of fabulous restaurants here though in the old town. The location of this hotel is really spot on. There is a little walk from the drop off point to the hotel with it being in the old town which only takes a few minutes through the very pretty little streets. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Rethymon itself if just great. Old Town, beach, small harbour, great place to walk too along the front in both directions, a few minutes away from the Fortress. You can also go on some lovely trips from Rethymon. We had a bespoke trip to the Mili Gorge, Kournas Lake, a little fishing village and then finishing off up in the mountains with a lovely lunch by the waterfall. There is also a Big Red Bus that you can go on with lots of stops that sounds great. The tour company that we went with also owns the Big Red Bus Company. One restaurant that we would highly recommend is Raki Ba Raki.
