The hotel’s location is in a quiet bay area at the one end of Forio, where there are a few restaurants and bars. Forio’s main streets and shopping area is about a 15-minute stride away, walking along the lovely beach and sea front heading to the harbour. Hotel San Francesco is a lovely family run hotel in a good location just a few minutes’ walk from the beach at Forio. It is a very clean and tidy hotel with a good-sized outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a wonderfully maintained garden area. There is a sun lounge area and a lovely separate area to chill out in the shade under parasols. It was fresh clean and brightly decorated with great artwork in the reception / bar area. We had a room in the villas to the side of the hotel, which suited us. Although older than the hotel the room and bathroom good sized, and typically Italian, which we liked. They were perfectly clean. We stayed on the second floor which had a good view of a local’s garden, and the smell of jasmine filled the air. We had a large balcony, unfortunately we didn’t have a table and chairs to sit out, but I am sure that had we have asked for one the hotel would have obliged. Like others, we did stumble on finding the other pools so perhaps more signage could be used within the hotel? Breakfast was plentiful, with lots of choice, hot or cold. Freshly cooked eggs and bacon were wonderful. The evening meal consisted of Antipasti which was plentiful, lots of salads and vegetables grown in the local allotments. There was a different homemade soup each evening, each cooked simply and yet tasted wonderful (I’ve since realised that I over season my homemade soups). Main meal choices were limited but great with lots of fresh fish. Some folks did moan about the large, cooked prawns served whole but each to their own! I’m Coeliac and follow a Gluten Free Diet, I normally don’t have any issues with finding a GF alternative pasta in Italy and therefore I hadn’t pre-booked a GF menu and unfortunately the hotel didn’t have a GF pasta alternative. However, the restaurant staff did go out of their way to provide me with breads and cakes that I was able to eat. If you do have a dietary requirement – double check when booking the hotel. The staff at the hotel were outstanding, attentive, polite and all very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. When we left at 5am we were each provided with a hot drink and a breakfast bag as we had a long trip back home. This was very much appreciated and summed up the care and attention to detail that the hotel staff put in to ensuring that we enjoyed our holiday. The botanical gardens of Giardini la Mortella, which has lovely views of Forio are about 20 minutes to walk from the Hotel. It has beautiful gardens which have lots of handy toilets and a wonderful restaurant selling fresh food and drinks. It’s an uphill walk to the gardens from the hotel, but well worth the effort. I write this review on behalf of a large group of sports who stayed at this hotel in the occasion of the judo Memorial dedicated to Adriana Serpico. All the staff are very gentle and 100% dedicated to satisfying the needs of the clients, clean rooms (including bed and bathroom), toiletries with shower box, fridge and climate in the room. Breakfast from hours 8.00 to 10.00 consists of cornets,cakes made at home,yoghurt,marmelade,afflicted,fruit juices and coffee maker served at the moment...all of good quality. The hotel has a large and well-kept pool with beds and paraplus available to guests. The hotel has a gasket with tables in the outer space. The market is provided with all presents in front of the hotel is stopped bus at 50 mt. All three stars deserve... Thanks special to Mrs. Rosa who welcomed us, making us feel like at home, making us available all the comforts of the hotel to make our kids well.

Well what a great hotel. Perfect location and lovely staff. We just literally walked out of our hotel each day and so much was on the doorstep. The beds were comfy we both slept really well. Bathroom was great with a huge shower. We had a room overlooking the harbour with a nice balcony although it was too hot to sit on in the afternoon so we would go upstairs to the rooftop pool which was heated and a lovely blue colour and not green as mentioned in some other articles. The staff by the pool were most helpful and provided us with little snacks and gin and tonics galore whenever we requested them. There are plenty of sunbeds on the roof terraces so no need to rush to reserve a space as there is room for everyone. Breakfast was served from 7.30am to 10.30am and was cakes, pastries, fruit, cheese, ham and eggs coffee, juices etc. All fresh and lovely. Cannot recommend enough and would definitely come back.

Very disappointed for the price we paid , Good - Waiters in the restaurant were very efficient, friendly , hard working and professional. Everywhere kept clean Massage relatively good Barbecue evening was the best food all week Bad - Lack of English spoken , lack of information on amenities, local areas , buses etc - the only English notice I saw read Totally Forbidden to fill water bottles up from water station ! Having to wear Swim Caps to use any of the pools , I have never heard of this before of travelling globally for the last 40 yrs ! Although filters in the pool were old and rusty ! Dated bedrooms with extremely small bathrooms and some balcony’s literally looking into bushes . Noise from the evening entertainment goes on up to midnight so we could hardly sleep Breakfast was ok but mainly a very large selection of cakes ( pity some of these couldn’t have been offered as the desserts for Evening Meal Evening Meal , although served to a high standard with trolleys and silver food domes ( abit over the top ) was very disappointing. The Salad bar was the worst I’ve ever seen in a hotel , it was very poor and not much of it either . Main meal was disappointing too and dessert you couldn’t help yourself but choose from 4 and when one ran out your choice got less . Some Reception staff not very helpful or welcoming on our arrival , requested an early morning call at 5am on our day of departure and we never got it ( good job we were up ) Others got Breakfast bags on an early morning check out but not us ! Would I return , definitely not !Or book through Voyage Privé , definitely not .

Pros - well positioned, clean , lovely view, really helpful ladies on the desk, two/three minutes from beach ( next to Bagno Lucia). Cons - basic 3 star hotel, no balcony, big comfortable bed, telly we never watched (Out of choice), and that was it pretty much. Breakfast was in town high street and was a pastry and two drinks. Really enjoyable, plugged in with locals, excellent coffee, juice and pastry. Lovely waking up experience. Overall knew this would not be a holiday for being budget conscious, the hotel was not cheap for what it was but absolutely fine, being in a position on the beach, peaceful and when you wanted help or advice the desk ladies were really relaxed and very helpful. Hotel was full but quiet and with all the things to see we slept well there every night. Glad we visited the island, organised our own transfer, Naples airport, alibus, hydrofoil quay each way, ferry 20 euros single. Bedded areas on beach wanted 30 euro the pair so went were the locals sat. No real supermarkets, so prices high, plenty of places to eat. Good experience in a pretty functional hotel with lovely gardens in a prime position for Ischia Ponte.

We arrived at the ”hotel” to a very basic place which looked like a building site/lodging house. The receptionist copied our passports and quite bluntly said you're on the first floor that way. We then had to struggle up the stairs with our cases to find our room. Room being the operative name. It was basically a cupboard with a bed in it. There was ONE socket in the whole room. A wardrobe containing ONE HANGAR, a bed coveted in a fraying coverlet and a marked sheet,two flat pillows, a door led to a bathroom with a very disgusting, marked shower curtain, hanging from exceptionally dirty rings. The ”view” was booked as pool or garden view, we had neither. We faced scaffolding, building site and dirty laundry on the floor, two flights below. The aircon didnt have a remote in the room. The electricity consumer box didn't have a cover but DID contain a keyhole! We went back to reception to ask to change room, to be told they were full and it wasn't possible. We requested more pillows, hangars and how to turn on the aircon in the room. We were told we had to pay for the aircon £12 per day. Pillows were delivered to the room along with 10 exceptionally dirty, rusty hangars We were informed ”dinner was 7-8pm and breakfast was 8-9am, set in stone with allocated tables and a preordained ”menu” of 2 dishes. We had to buy water to have with dinner and we're shocked that HALF BOARD DIDNT GET US A CHOICE OF WHAT TO EAT! we slept in the disgusting room that evening, THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED, as i'd booked this trip through LOVEHOLIDAYS for my husbands 65th birthday gift. I cried that night, absolutely shocked by what we had compared to what I thought I'd booked. The next morning my husband went down to breakfast- again no choice and offerrings were left overs from dinner, green beans, cake, manky fruit, cheap cereal! I had a coffee and returned to the room. We looked on *********** for another hotel and moved that day to an available hotel. We have complained about the 20 year old pictures advertising this OAP BOARDING HOUSE where older people LIVE in the rooms facing the pool and gardens. There is also a dog roaming trying to get into the room along with visitors in the night trying all doors. Filip used us moving as an excuse to not refund us for our further 6 night stay, stating we only wanted a sunset view!! We've never been to Ischia before so we looked at available, clean hotels available at short notice. Please, PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS HOVEL FOR YOUR HOLIDAY, THE OWNERS HAVE QUITE FRANKLY GIVEN UP AND NEED TO TAKE THE ”HOTEL” PART FROM THEIR SIGNAGE AND CHANGE IT TO BUDGET HOSTEL WITH A POOL! would of given ZERO but not able to. We have an ABTA CERT and WILL be taking this forward with them

My husband and I took a weekend trip from Naples to Ischia and at the last minute changed from a hotel in Fioro to Hotel Villa Durrueli at the last minute as we wanted to be in a nice walkable area that was closer to the port (for ease of catching the ferry) as well as services, restaurants, and we wanted to stay in a place that had a thermal bath in the hotel. Many of the thermal baths are closed during the latter part of November so having a thermal bath to enjoy in the hotel was important to us. The room is small, but delightful with a balcony that offered seating for 2. The decor is in keeping with the island: renovated, clean in the Mediterranian Style and offered a minibar that felt very reasonable and a desk area with complimentary coffee and tea. The service here is exemplary from the front desk to the spa to the breakfast. It has service that goes beyond a 5 star hotel that is warm and friendly while still very professional. Sara, the breakfast manager goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has an amazing start to the day. The service, the location, and the amenities made us feel so grateful we chose Hotel Villa Durrueli.

We booked a superior room with balcony or terrace. We were given small room with broken window and flakey ceiling. Asked where the balcony was we were told there isnt one! Room two better but plaster coming of the walls Room three better but tiere Complained to management who miraculously found us a lovely clean new modern room with terrace Then dinner! Disaster was told didnt need to reserve. Sat down to be asked to move. Table we moved from was sea view. We were moved to middle of restaurant whilst a number of seaview tables remained empty all night! We have already paid for our meal so shouldn't it be first come first served! Day one ! Could this holiday get any worse

The Italians that run this hotel really know to do it,…of course the linens on the bed were soft, pressed and comfortable, the rooms were big and spacious, and the food was spectacular, and then combining this with an outstanding spa treatment, you’ll feel like royalty …..it’s the total package not to forget to mention the thermal pool and the private beach right there. The location is wonderful and it’s walking distance to the shops…..if you want a fantastic all around resort to stay …stay at Punto Molina in Ischia and feel like Royalty.

This hotel has it all. Great location- walk to the port or the castle; on the ocean and near the main shopping district. They have a shuttle that will take you to the port. Taxis on Ischia are very pricey (no meters that I could find) so the shuttle is a great bonus. The building has a wonderful old world feel, and the rooms are quiet and peaceful. The beds are comfortable and the linens crisp (I love that). Lots of soft towels as you use them. The thermal pools are perfect and clean, and a joy to use even when the weather is a bit iffy. The beach area is fine, with lots of chaises and a beach attendant who was attentive and friendly. The hotel staff could not have been better. All the front desk staff speaks good English and are very helpful. Got a great recommendation for dinner in town (Ristorante Dortas - no need to go to Naples for Pizza, as this one is fabulous) The breakfasts are wonderful and the chef makes great omelettes. Fresh squeezed OJ to start your day. The restaurant staff are terrific, all in white suit jackets like the finest (old world) establishments. The housekeeping folks are always greeting you happily (“buongiorno!”) I would like to say congratulations to the Manager, Mr. Cipolleta. Somehow the staff is always ready to help and seem to enjoy their jobs. To hear the staff laughing with the guests is wonderful and a rare thing. It’s not easy to find a hotel of this quality.

The hotel was not clean enough, as already told the hotel manager, the room and bathroom was cleaned. I had to tell you that the bathroom was not clean, even the room was not clean. Only the bedrooms were fitted. I am sorry to communicate all this because I have never had any problems with the structure, except for cleaning.
