I said before that I would be back and here I am on the same business trip. Nothing much has changed. The room is neat and clean. But the signal for mobile phone goes to zero. I did not receive an important message while we were inside the room. They need to make an improvement on that. Also I noticed no one is there to assist you at night. Not a good experience though. Planning to stay here on my next business trip? The answer is a big MAYBE......

Recently to present myself to LOCResidents regarding a room for rent in Bacolod City, Philippines. While there, presented a handout of room rates I had receive, and agreed on the room rate advertised. Then was told – while sitting there - ‘’price will be 10% more’’ and the sales associate wrote on my sheet a new – higher price. Felt offended, but said ‘’ok’’ anyway. Learned LOCResidence also offered ‘’long term rental’’. Told ‘’only two left – 1st come 1st served’’ and inspected a unit that was unfinished with no electrical outlets and/or kitchen-bath finished or ceramic flooring yet completed and ready to move in. Said I am interested, returned later to see about long term leasing, and asked for ‘’a rental agreement’’ to read. Told by the sales associate, ‘’1st you must make a 2 month deposit then you can see / read our rental agreement’’. After one hour and twenty minute discussion on this subject rental agreement, I was allowed to read someone else’s rental agreement – not a blank one presented to me to possibly sign. In reading someone else’s rental agreement, (in English unit #208 signed in November 2018) read several points that seemed not in the best interest of the tenant. Including agreeing to (if I signed and paid money in advance – on an unfinished unit), the right of management to enter my flat if determined I was in violation of agreement ANYTIME management so chooses. (No right of privacy). I walked away from LOCResidence, and I suggest you do the same!

This hotel is the nearest airport, and there is a shopping mall next to it. It is very convenient to eat and buy. This hotel does not have breakfast, there is no extra bed service, but you live a few people and they are not well managed. It is also convenient to go to the SM mall, and it will cost you ten yuan in RMB. However, there are few room configurations, there are soaps and shower gels, others come with them, but the price is fair.

One of the few survivors of the Covid 19 Plandemic. However, it is not without any unfavorable effects: the restaurant is closed — no more unbelievably nutritious and bountiful breakfasts (now a simple breakfast served in the room on your schedule - still nice). The staff, although courteous and efficient, is only a few —but suitable to handle the not-too-many quests in house. Some public doors stay locked until requested to open, thus adding, to a degree, a little cheerless ambience that, in light of former glory, earnestly looks forward to brighter days ahead. May God help us travelers to survive as well: because some of the favorite hotels in Bacolod (like Westown) are open for business — BUT SHOULD NOT BE. Be warned: Travelers beware! They neglect to advertise: No hot water; No cable TV, No telephones. Adding to deplorable conditions are the security guards (Not hotel staff) who take pains ministering to the unsuspecting guests because no one else is there! Thank God for L'Fisher! An unfailing oasis in the risky wilderness full of the migrants, passengers and tourists and the poor inn keepers who still have a job to do. We award L’Fisher as ‘L’Tried & True for the Traveler’.

Staff is excellent; pool is refreshing — but management needs training. We mostly enjoyed our 5 day stay...but, with some reservations. Rooms are large and beds are comfortable (but the fabric headboards are itchy, should be upgraded to some other type of surface that is easier to maintain) The bathroom sink area is small and was always wet from hand washing. (shower area large — unnecessarily) There was no offer to change the towels & bedding — but they should have. When facing a crisis — I did ask for more TP. Out side: The vehicle parking is a real problem — limited only to a few small spaces in front where the guard and the hotel vans are parked (!Huh?) — or around the corner next to who knows what!! (Parking spaces are very narrow and my vehicle door was banged from car next to it) Fitness room by the pool: large & nice (but limited to free weights, treadmills & sit-up boards, just no back-exercise-machines for middle-agers) OK, enough complaining…..but, just one more: my real peeve is the free breakfast. This is always the same issue with every hotel now (even with the previously top-shelf Fisher Hotel down the street) Nobody tries to impress you with their culinary delights anymore! (And, don’t blame this on Covid) They simply serve the absolute, cheapest, minimal breakfast possible because it was advertised — and, nobody seems to care! Just don’t assume that customers don’t notice. What’s my prediction? Savy hoteliers will begin to put a little more effort into feeding their guests — so they feel like he cares just a little more than the guy down the street. It’s just a suggestion. Maybe the towel, the parking, or the lack of some fitness thing would fade away next to the awesome, tasty, free breakfast delight that swept Mr. Cranky guest off his feet every morning! Actually, there are lots of ways to be unique or savy. Mr. Hotelier, these are tough times for lots of businesses. It’s also a great opportunity to step up to the plate and prove to the guests that your hotel really does have something to offer. Just something to chew on.

It was almost 8pm when we landed Bacolod using the Roll on-Roll off shipping service from Iloilo to Bacolod to bring our own car to visit this city and other places in Negros Island using our own transportation. We drive around the city to start looking for a hotel with a secured parking. The first three hotels were all booked with not a single room available for the night. It was pure luck when we got to Sugarland Hotel obtaining an available family room. The hotel is beautiful with a storied past. It has a sheltered parking at the back and front and an indoor pool that doubles as a breakfast nook. The rooms are big enough for a family of four and the beds and pillows are comfortable. Overall it is a pleasant place to spend the night with plenty of secured hotel parking.

We arrived around 3 am on our last day there. The gate was closed. We were confused since there shouldn’t have been a curfew. It was a good thing there was a helpful guest at the garage that opened the gate for us. If he wasnt there it would have been a long cold night outside for us. Also my girlfriend got scolded because she knocked on a door that had an entrance sign and a buzzer on it. I mean it really looked like a room for reception but it turns out it is a guest room as well. Also, that night we misplaced our key, so we hoped to ask the reception if they could open our room. We knocked on a door that had an “ENTRANCE” sign and a buzzer on it. We of course assumed that it was the reception area. Turns out, it was also a guest room and we had disturbed the resting guests there. This could’ve been avoided if we had been briefed where the actual reception area was when we checked in, and if there was a stand by reception to receive guests who arrive on wee hours since there was no curfew posted. The location would be good if you have a car. If youre commuting, jeeps dont pass by the pension house. It's around a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest jeepney stops. This can get very tiresome if it's hot outside.

We usually look for a place to stay at when we need to go to the City and needs a good wifi to start with since our job is depending on the internet connection . Just last weekend , Internet was down and we need to go to Varcatelle , why Varcatelle , we find it easy to travel from our place to this place since it is just near Lopues East --- 30 minutes away from our location . As we approach the desk, they eventually know why we were looking for a room , we had booked the same place for quite sometime since we like the accommodation , the internet is really good and it is near the city center .We stayed for a day and of course will look forward to our next booking with you guys . Thank you for accommodating and also for giving us the best service ever .

I know that Bacolod is known for how sweet their people are, but the Mahogany Inn's staff just went out of the way to make us feel their hospitality, which made us extend one more night. We were on a road trip from Bayawan City with stop overs along the way, and you can just imagine the exhaustion we felt as we arrived at 8PM in Bacolod. We booked them on a last minute decision, and surely it was a great choice. As soon as we parked our car, we were greeted with the staff and helped us with our things. They are very courteous as well, that's something you would expect in 5-star hotels. As for its location, its about 4km away from the city centre which I didn't mind at all. On our first night, we booked a family room as it was the only one available. It was spacious, smells good, and was on the silent part of the building. For our second night, we moved to deluxe room which unfortunately was next to the streets so it was a bit loud plus the aircon is noisy. Spend some couple hundreds more to get the rooms at the back to get an extra peaceful sleep. All in all, for the price of less than 1,500php , Mahogany should be everyone's top choice when in BCD.

Since there were 5 of us seniors vacationing in Bacolod for 3 days it was important that we stayed in a hotel that’s comfortable. I booked Acacia online and chatted with them about our concerns which they promptly attended to. Upon arrival we were met pleasantly at the front desk. The girl at the reception Danna even entered the WiFi password into our phones and she proved friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Lobby is wide , two elevators are working. Hotel was renovated in March 2019, so the place looked new. Rooms are wide and we had toiletries in the bathroom but only one roll of tissue so we had to ask for more every day. We had our daily supply of free bottled water which we cooled in the mini refrigerator. Breakfast was simple with less than 10 choices but bread, coffee and jam were unlimited. The waiters were accommodating and always ready to help. SM is very near the place so it was easy to shop for souvenirs. It was also easy to book Grab to take us around. The staff at the front desk gave suggestions on places to visit and even booked our shuttle to the airport when it was time to depart. Thumbs up for excellent service!

It seems that many years have passed since it was built, but I like the style. From the airport, instead of using a taxi, I switched to the local vehicle "Jeep" and said "Bell Hotel" and he dropped me off in front of the hotel. Supermarket "SM" is a 5 minute walk. There we were able to exchange pesos and eat. Breakfast was delicious. The sea can be seen from the windows on the 5th floor corridor.

The room they first allocated to me had an AC that didn't work, and I could hear the people-next-door's TV blaring through the drywall partitioning. They moved me with no problems whatsoever, though. The second room smelled strongly of fresh paint, but the working aircon sorted that out soon enough. I wasn't too thrilled to find a cockroach in the shower, but I managed to scare it off. My ratings are based on my expectations vs. reality. This is a budget place. A place to crash for the night. Don't expect anything more. And yeah, the pictures look much better than in reality. Still, it wasn't a bad place overall.

I booked this hotel online and based on the published pictures, I was impressed enough. What a big disappointment. The Premium Suite that I paid top money for, was nothing but a stuffy, smelly, dilapidated room. I asked what was special about this so-called suite and was told it’s because of the carpeting. Are you kidding me? The carpet was very old and faded and torn in the middle. The TV was old and did not work. Drawers and closet doors fell to the floor when opened. The bathroom faucet was hard to turn and the sink needed a good scrubbing. The shower head was moldy and the “white” towels were gray and worn out. They even charge for an extra towel. They hesitantly moved us to a regular room, which was slightly better and cheaper than the premium suite. The free breakfast was limited to Filipino choices only and came in small portions. Coffee came in a very tiny cup, maybe 6 oz. at the most, and coffee refills are extra. The only plus at this hotel are the friendly bellboys and room attendants. The owners definitely need to invest more money and time on this hotel as it really needs a lot of attention and issues that should be attended to. Location is downtown walking distance to SM Mall, but the streets are full of vendors, tricycles and old abandoned buildings. I was happy to leave this hotel.

Buffet breakfast was good. The smell of the room was a little bit odd. The 2 female staff at the reception were unhelpful. On my last day, i bought 3 bags of pasalubongs (which were heavy so i used both of my hands). The door was next to the reception and both of them were just sitting there, the least they can do is to open the door for me but they did not so i used my back to open it. Bedside lamp has no bulb. Extension cord with usb port is available but it was a type b plug so you still need an adapter to use it. There's a nearby club/bar near the hotel and it was loud at night. The location is not in the main street, but it's easy to find.
