|0.63km from city centerWe stayed here overnight on a road trip to Brisbane. Check-in was just after the office closed, but we received instructions via text message, allowing us to collect our key from the security safe with a code. There was plenty of undercover parking, with internal stair and lift access to our ground floor unit, which opened out on to the pool area at the rear. The day was hot and humid, but the air conditioning was running when we arrived, giving a welcome respite as we brought our luggage in. The unit was sparkling clean, and well equipped for an overnight stay, or for a week or more. The location was excellent, with a short walk to the beach, and the town centre. In the evening, we walked to the ex Services Club for dinner. The next morning, we took the opportunity to walk up to the lighthouse in the cool of the morning. It was a great 2 1/2 hour round trip, walking up through bushland and along the headland ridge top with great views to the north and south, and back by the shorter route along the beach. After the walk, we had a late breakfast in our kitchenette equipped unit before hitting the road again. Overall, a great location for a stopover.

|0.26km from city centerThe hostel is very close to Byron Bay. When we entered the hotel, the staff told us that we would upgrade our reserved room to a double bed room with a separate bathroom. I feel that the price is still quite high. Later, she also recommended a special dinner with the hotel on the top floor of the hostel, but when we were full of expectations, we were told that the event was cancelled. In fact, its pattern is more like a backpacker station. There is a large public area where you can cook. But what impressed me the most is that I didn't know who put the milk in my refrigerator in the innermost and almost didn't find it. The soundproofing of the room is not very good, and you can hear all kinds of buzz from the public area at night. Since the store used a guarantee at the time of booking, it has not yet been returned to the account.

|0.19km from city centerWhen I booked I called and emailed about a ground floor apartment as I have mobility issues, I was promised ground floor and that there would be a note 'do not move'. Yes we were given ground floor but with steps to access our section, this meant my husband had to cart wheelchair up and down 5 steps and I had to be extra cautious utilising the steps. I contacted the managers who were very apologetic offering any assistance if we needed with wheelchair etc. I did remind that I was promised ground floor due to mobility and was told the areas 1 & 2 were 2 bedroom and the only 1 beds were in stairwell 3 and they were fully booked I'd they weren't they would've give us one. Well in hindsight the promise shouldn't have been made. 5 hours later they offered us an apartment at another accommodation which was disability friendly. The thought of packing and moving 5 hrs in when we'd settled and unpacked was the last thing I could think of. Very kind of them and they tried their best but maybe juggling too many promises is their downfall. We had to move their carpet square around as upturned corners were trip hazards. Yes noise issues as others have said can hear toilet flush upstairs, and unwelcome stomping about at 2am. There was a noise issue at 7pm that first night of a group singing, yelling and stomping about. We made contact with manager again who quickly looked into it. Was told apparently a few families who booked accommodation meeting in one apartment deciding where to go for dinner.....that was some loud excitable decision making! Loud enough for us to make a noise complaint. Position is great, walk (and wheelchair) to everything, shops, cafes, beach and restaurants. I stayed there 4 years ago but when I was more mobile a nd would probably stay again but would be clear with my needs and call again pri.or to check-in to ensure all good.. Clean other than sand under that mat we had to move. And the fridge and pantry could do with a scrub.

|0.64km from city centerWe spent 3 nights in the villa Yarrawarra that had everything you might need. The pool itself could be cleaner because there were a lot of leaves and even a crab in the pool. It's a bathroom after all. We've been happy to remove the crab and we'd have removed the leaves but there was no net to do it. This should be done daily but it was not hit within 3 days. The hotel is very comfortable and very comfortable and it is very comfortable and very comfortable. I don't expect this for the price I paid for accommodation. As our transport would not recover us before 12 hours. 30 hours we asked if we could store our baggage until we were recovered. We were informed that this was not possible because other customers had arrived and the property needed cleaning. There is no baggage. I think that could be integrated into the villas. We had to walk for 2.5 hours under the burning sun with 2 small bags only to go home and sit out on the ground while waiting for our transport. This just took the edge of a very relaxing stay.

|0.24km from city centerHaving not been to Byron since 2006, I came for a night with a friend. We didn't want to be spending in to the 100s for a room we would only sleep in. We opted for the Cape Byron YHA. For $70, we got a twin room with a double and a bunk. The room was pretty bare, no TV - But it had a clothes hang/store area / mirror / enough plugs for the 2 of us. The bed was comfy and the covers were clean and warm (you have to ***** the bed upon check out). There were 3 or 4 showers in the block on our floor, same for toilets - you needed the swipe card to get in - again clean, warm. The kitchen area was large - this grossed me out a little - but it's been a long time since I backpacked Oz and needed to cook for myself in such. The pans were old and pretty grubby. You had to get your plates etc from reception - but we had ours with us. The tea towels were rank - I wouldn't use. The worst however was a bloke in the kitchen coughing all over the place - not the hostels fault, but nasty nonetheless. Needless to say, we didn't go sit and eat by him - we ate on our balcony which had a table and 2 chairs. During COVID-times and no flights coming in to Oz, this hostel serviced a range of ages - I am 40 and there were people older than me there. I found the hostel more like a motel. Good location and good wifi.

|2.07km from city centerThe location is good, it is attached to the road and close to the center. We had taken an accommodation with a room with a large bed and a bunk bed for three that we were going and our surprise was that they gave us a much better and larger one with two rooms, one with a double bed and the other with four bunk beds, living room, bathroom, toilet for the same price. I think it was because we didn't have Wi-Fi because of the floods that had occurred, but a great detail on his part. The facilities very well. There are courts to play tennis and they provide you with the material. There are common areas where you can have a meal with many people equipped with refrigerators, tables and benches, sinks and even a toaster and kettle, as well as a drinks machine. It has a beautiful park for children and a swimming pool with good hammocks. In the area where the washing machines and dryers are located, they have put a large stall to hang clothes, since it is forbidden to hang them on the folding stalls that are in each accommodation. The personal is ver kind and helpful. The general impression is very good, in fact we would return for sure if we lived here, but in any case we recommend it.

|1.03km from city centerWe were really looking forward to our time at Byron and thought we'd booked a lovely place. WRONG, it started with basic items not being available when we arrived, like tea bags and cutlery. A minor issue we thought and we overlooked it. Unfortunately, our room backed onto the managers on-site accommodation so her late night chores list made our first nights stay a nightmare. The 'delicious continental breakfast' was a joke. This establishment is child free and the three cereal options available for breakfast included coco pops and corn flakes!! Not to mention the 'fresh French imported croissants' that were noted on the web, in room and even a text; all we saw was a Helga's sliced loaf. The next day our room was not serviced and when we asked why, the manager said ”she forgot”. Then to top it off, at 9:25pm on our final night we receive a text message saying that due to the site being sold, and the new owners were no longer offering B&B, we couldn't have any breakfast the next morning. What a joke except...I'm not laughing.

|0.31km from city centerWhilst driving down to the Hibiscus Motel, I realised that we we’re not going to be at the motel in time for checking and that on the Expedia website it stated that you needed to give them 24 hours notice if you were going to arrive later than 5pm. I emailed the motel and explained that we were going to be late and asked if we could make alternative arrangements to check in. I received an email back in no time, asking if I could call the hotel as my credit card had been declined. I called the hotel and was advised that these things happen and provided my credit card details over the phone. I hadn’t realised that I had had a replacement card. I was told where I could pick the key up from and everything was looking good. Just as we arrived at the motel, I check my email again to find that my card had yet again been declined and I was fully aware that reception had closed. I tried the combination for the safe and thankfully the keys to our room were in there, with a note asking if I could attend reception the next morning. The room, was a good size and whilst it might not have been the most luxurious in Australia, it was everything we needed for a couple of nights. The bed was really comfortable which provided a good nights sleep. The next morning I went to reception and was instantly put at easy by the staff. (This was the first time my card has been declined) We went through the check in procedure, attempted to pay for the room, where I received a text from the bank asking me to authorise the payment, this then went through. The staff could not have been any nicer or more understanding.

|1.31km from city centerIt is less than 2 kilometers drive from the Byron Bay Lighthouse Scenic Area. It is rainy on the cloudy day. It feels very quiet after arriving at the apartment. There is no waiter. You need to pick up the key in the small glass box on the side of the garage. When you make a reservation, you will be reminded of the precautions when you arrive at the apartment. The key deposit point will be sent by e-mail. There is a plank road across the road from the apartment to the viewpoint. If you are driving by car, you can go to the lighthouse to see the scenery and there is a paid parking lot. The wind was so big, it was raining, don't have some fun, a little regret, I couldn't see the sunset. You can drive to the town near the apartment to eat and shop. You can also buy something in the supermarket to come back to eat. There is an induction cooker, but there is no smoking machine. Booked for 3 people, room with balcony, but only one big bed, the other can only sleep on the sofa.

|0.39km from city centerCabin were small for the price $150 night, beds were good, air-con worked well. Good size 📺 TV. Very quiet park in terms of no noises guests during my stay,so quiet, found it strange no children here, no playground! Small pool but nice. What bother me with the cabin, was right next to toilet and shower block, so the outside lights are on the whole night and shined through the side window. For a week stayed, you would think they put me in another cabin. Didn't mention it as couldn't be bother to move after day 1. I found this park good location, short walk to shops, through the side lane of the bus port. The staff were nice and helpful if you needed anything! I found the park quiet boring and Byron wasn't the place for me, not sure what the fuss is about Byron! Beach were average and cafe very tactic looking, Woolworths centre was nice to visit. Some nice looking clothes shop! Been all around Australia, Byron would have to be my least favorite place and that's a week I won't get back 😕

|0.34km from city centerMy husband and I stayed over the Christmas period in a Garden Suite with a lovely large courtyard. This particular suite was chosen for the size of the accommodation and the courtyard. We were able to have family visit for Christmas Lunch and enjoyed the spaciousness of in and outside during the day. There was a total of 10 of us and the Suite is very functional with a great kitchen, coffee machine and a large fridge with plenty of cupboard space. It was the perfect Christmas lunch. The king size bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and the large L-Shaped leather lounge was fantastic. We didn't hear any noise from neighboring apartments or restaurants. The parking underneath is very secure and two charging stations for convenience. The everyday cleanliness and tidy up was excellent. Unfortunately due to the storms on the Gold Coast we had to leave a day early. The delightful lady on reception was able to re-sell our apartment for the one night and we were refunded less a small charge. We were thrilled and grateful that without prompting this was done. An excellent stay and a lovely experience.

|1.9km from city centerOur arrival at Byron Springs really earned a ”Wow” as everything exceeded our expectations. We loved the minimal design of both the bedroom, the large shared lounge and kitchen area, and the pool. Everywhere was absolutely clean and well maintained. The pool looked very inviting but, unfortunately, a sudden storm prevented our trying it during our all-too-short stay. We found the breakfast provided in the room, including Byron granola and fruit, to be tasty and perfectly adequate, while the pineapples and wonderful brownies in the shared area were a real bonus. I thoroughly recommend this little gem, but be sure to book more than one night!

|1.08km from city centerWe relaxed as soon as we arrived. The rainforest location is so special. Our rainforest lodge was perfect and the sunroom surrounded by trees was such a sanctuary. We found the hugging (healing tree) on the rainforest walk and the kids kept on going back for hugs - such good vibes. The kids enjoyed the pool which was shallow - great for our young children. Eleme day spa was a dream - I had the chakra healing massage and really enjoyed the relaxing and immersive experience of the crystals and sound bowls too. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Forest and the staff are really exceptional. Not easy dining with 2 young kids but the staff there were so great with our kids. It's amazing we lasted through the delicious 5 course degustation! A must try with the matching wines. The squid and kingfish were the winners for us. I am so glad I did the morning yoga class (even if it was just once!) looking right into the rainforest - a great start to the day. We can't wait to return!

Belongil Beach
Byron Bay
|0.48km from city centerBooked the Wollongbar motel based on the location, price and good reviews. A quick easy two minute walk into town. Also, with private beach access through a gate at the back of the property, you can walk across the train tracks, down the path to Belongil beach and up to Main beach. While located on busy Shirley St, I didn’t notice any traffic noise, just the sounds of the ocean. We stayed in a Double Balcony room, upstairs towards the back of the building. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It is an older style motel but has been updated and while basic has everything you need (fan, aircon). The room felt a little dark due to the aspect and older style security windows but you could open the balcony door to let in light and air (the navy blue accents contributed to the darker feel). If styled with sandy creams or earthy tones, the room would feel a little lighter and more Byron, and flow better with the cream and white exterior. Same with the pool, a few simple updates, with a coat of white paint, a couple of new lounge chairs and some pot plants or landscaping would really lift the pool area. The pool was lovely and warm, we had a swim everyday day after the beach. Overall our stay was quiet and relaxing, being located close to but just outside the busy town. We were talking to someone who has been coming to Byron for the last 16 years and always stays at the Wollongbar, doesn’t even look elsewhere. The ‘affordable for Byron’ price is a step up from a private room in a hostel. We didn’t have a car and while a bus stop was located right out front of the motel, we never saw a bus go by. Byron isn’t well set up for public transport, so it’s harder to get around town without a car, we did a lot of walking. I just wish they had adult and kids bikes available at the motel! Most bike rental places were closed after COVID. The Byron Bus interchange is less than a 10 minute walk, we caught the public bus direct to Ballina airport on the way home about an hour’s trip (cash only $4.50 Adult / $2.20 Child). The reception staff were lovely and helpful. While the room was not serviced during our stay you could get fresh towels and toiletries from reception. And there was an on-site laundry $3 wash $3 dry.

|0.13km from city centerA excellent stay and found Damien, Joanna and Luke (plus the rest of the team) to be super helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size with adequate storage, plus the room comes with balcony which is super useful to help dry off clothes after a swim etc. The hostel as a whole sounds like it has a really promising future and wonderful staff to help develop it in the next stages. Plugs and reading lights in the bunks wouldn’t go amiss but I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s already in the works for the future development. That said there were plenty of plug dotted about the room that you could charge a portable charger easily. If you’re working as you’re travelling, the hostel has a good area that people can work from too. All in all, an excellent stay. If (when) I’m back in Byron I’ll definitely be looking to stay here again.

|0.61km from city centerMy partner and I had a short visit to Byron Bay and we stayed in the “Dragonfly’s rest” room at the Garden Burees. You enter by driving up a little pebble road and at this point already feel like you’ve entered into a secluded jungle. To get to our room we walked up another pebble path surrounded by lush greenery. We saw wild turkeys and a few lizards and water dragons. The entrance to the room was a double door of beautifully carved wood. Going through that door led us to an outdoor space featuring a stone bathtub, shower, sink, toilet, fishpond with waterfall and couch. This outdoor area was so nice for hanging out and relaxing and we couldn’t miss taking a romantic bath under the stars later that night (during which we got to watch some kind of lizard or gecko hunting bugs!). The indoor section of the accommodation had a bed, basic toiletries, candles, a living room area with a couch and table, a tv, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, silk robes, and board games. It was such a relaxing getaway that we almost just stayed in and didn’t even go into town. However, we pulled ourselves out of the zen to visit Byron. It was only a ten minute walk into the town. Overall our stay here was very peaceful and relaxing and we really loved having a private outdoor space to use and how immersed in nature this accommodation was!
