We stayed in this hotel on two occasions in the past and enjoyed it very much. We thought it was the best hotel option for us in Bayreuth and so chose it again for our visit for the Wagner Festival in 2019. However, it was disappointing that recent modifications to the hotel to accommodate air conditioning have made the formerly lovely restaurant area much less attractive and made access to the garden impossible ( at least during our stay). As the quiet garden had been one of the key reasons we had wanted to go back this was a major issue for us which the staff did not seem to understand. The rooms continue to be good and the breakfast is also good. However, overall, our experience this year was not as pleasant as on 2 other occasions.

We stayed to attend Parsifal on August 5 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.. Friendly and efficient reception & room staff. Room was comfortable, airy, spotlessly clean and everything worked. It is 5 minutes walk from Maximillianstrasse and even less in the other direction to the Maisel Pub/Restaurant, a must visit for beer lovers with the longest beer list I have seen outside a major CAMRA Festival. Shuttle bus to & from the Festspielhaus. The restaurant serves late to accommodate festival visitors, and the breakfasts are excellent. Only 1 caveat: Not all rooms have air conditioning, so check. That said, when we next return to Bayreuth we would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

Not entirely sure what the photos for the hotel shown are, its a central located hotel above / attached to a cafe / restuarant... Its on a main road near a shopping centre. The hotel was one pf the cheaper ones available during the festival. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable amd staff friendly. Checking in was easy and id be happy to come back next time i visit.

This was my second trip to Bayreuth for the Wagner Festival. The hotel I stayed at last time was unavailable and I chose this hotel as recommended by friends and am glad I did so. Cheaper than the other hotel across the board: room rates are cheaper, the bus up to the Festspiel Haus is free and the hotel close enough to be able to walk back down in the evening post-opera; breakfast spread is very good and included in the room price, as is the brunch from 11 am to 1 pm. All rooms are equipped with a mini-bar so you can buy milk, yoghurt etc. to store in the fridge in the room. There is also a safe in the room. The rooms are comparable in size and comfort and I personally found the staff at the Arvena much friendlier and more helpful overall. On nice days it is possible to have breakfast/brunch outside on the terrace. There are two buses going up to the Festspiel Haus: from 14.00 onwards there is an old-style bus taking a maximum of 8 people up to the gardens of the FH while at 15.00 the big bus leaves, taking passengers to the drop-off/pick-up point behind the FH. The bus down costs €5, payable directly to the driver. I appreciated being able to get to the FH early, to wander around, get a glass of something, sit on a bench etc. My only quibbles are that for a four-star hotel there are no slippers, no bathrobe and no body lotion. The first two lacks didn't bother me as I always pack my own slippers and a thin robe, but the lack of body lotion was a surprise (easily remedied by going into the shops nearby.) You can ask for an electric kettle for your room and there is an ironing room, well equipped with two ironing boards, irons and cloths to protect delicate clothes. The pre-opera drinks are self-service and the nibbles more basic (small sandwiches) so if you prefer liveried waiters serving you sekt and gourmet catering, marble entry halls and glimpses of royalty (Swedish king & queen stayed at the other hotel), this isn't the hotel for you. I will be staying here in future on return visits to Bayreuth.

The hotel is located on a very attractive street in Bayreuth, a few steps from the stunning Margravial opera house, which is open for public tours. The hotel itself is a grand, traditional stone building. The interiors in the hallway, landing and restaurant/breakfast rooms all retain their vintage appearance, with beautiful wood panelling, antique furnishings and references to famous former guests of the hotel. The hotel has been run by the same family for generations. The owner and staff give a very personal and attentive service, and take pride in the hotel and its history. We even received a lovely birthday gift on behalf of the hotel during our stay. The breakfasts are cooked freshly to order. The evening meal menu was very flexible in adjusting to our needs and we enjoyed meeting the chef to discuss our order. Both the breakfast room and restaurant are lovely and charming rooms. Our bedroom was a good size. We very much liked the traditional and colourful furnishings and fabrics. The hotel feels very much a part of Bayreuth and the town's identity.

This hotel is about 20 yards from the Hauptbahnhof, step free so you can easily wheel your luggage there. I didn't hear any train noise however, they use those blinds that go up and down as well as the double glazing. There are steps into the hotel with it being an old building but the friendly staff are on hand to help you up with your luggage. I had a double room, it was huge. Lights and power sockets everywhere and excellent wifi. Maybe the decor was a bit outdated but it was very well maintained. Large bathroom with walk in shower and good ventilation and well-lit. Plenty of wardrobe space. Minibar with space for your own stuff, but sadly no kettle. I didn't ask for one though. If you are there for the Festival, there is the shuttle that leaves an hour before performance-time, one-way only. Never mind because I think this hotel is the closest large one to the Festspielhaus anyway. I walked back (as do most people it seems) in about 15 mins at a slowish pace. If you were going further on to the Goldener Anker for example, it would be another 10 mins. They serve a later supper for after the show. I had a very comfortable night's sleep and was one of the last for breakfast. No waiting for a table and lovely unhurried service from the staff. Good selection available. Reception staff very professional and spoke German very clearly so that even I could understand. Checkout time is 1100, check in is from 2pm. There is a little garden area in a courtyard, There is a cycle machine, sauna and some very light weights, nothing with which to exert oneself. Although I would not call this a "luxurious" hotel, it is not basic and is in very good condition, staff are friendly and it is an excellent location. Next time I am here I will certainly stay

Note there is a IBIS Budget and an IBIS Styles hotel in the same building. Rather confusing in the booking process and took me a while to figure it out. Essentially one is higher quality and more expensive but they share the same breakfast. Rooms in the IBIS super small - would not return despite it being cheap. Location: about 500 m from the station in direction outside the city. On one side are the train tracks and on the other the road. Walking into city abt 20 min, we took the car. Parking on site against a charge. Rooms: I expected the IBIS budget rooms to be small, but this was border line youth hostel. Not visible from the photos is that the double bed is pushed against the wall on one side. So if you are 2 you need to get into bed one after the other - really? For tow problematic - better for one single person. Also only 1 chair, not really any space to put your clothes in the evening. Otherwise room new and fresh, bathroom small but nice. Additional issue that there is a huge window - but only one curtain which darkens the light out, meaning if you dont want people from the opposite building looking into the room, you need to draw the curtain and switch on the light. While not expensive I would would pay a little but more and have a bigger room.

We stayed here for a week for the Bayreuth Festival, and were very happy that we chose this one. The building a quite new, so everything works very well. The rooms even have proper air conditioning. The standard room is spacious, with a small kitchenette. There's also a laundry room in the basement for guests, so this hotel works well for an extended stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is a bit outside the city center, about 15-20 minute walk from the old town. We didn't mind the walk, it's mostly through the beautiful New Palace park. If you're driving, the location is very easy to get to from the Autobahn, and there's ample parking available for quests in the basement. There's a very nice local bakery with delicious breakfast combos 50m from the hotel. A grocery store (Lidl), and a drug store (DM) are right next to the bakery.
