Checks all the boxes for a family stay except housekeeping, which is still challenged. Bring flip flops for walking on the floors and Greenworks cleaning spray. Wipe down all touchable surfaces when you arrive. Towels are changed and beds made on the third day but there is no cleaning of the kitchen area or bathrooms, which is unacceptable to me. I will come again because it's a great location and the staff are wonderful But I will definitely be bringing cleaning supplies doing my own cleaning. Would happily pay for optional daily cleaning. Heads up to hotel management on stocking rooms. There was no bottom sheet for the pill out bed and only one pillow. No tea towels on arrival. No toilet paper, dishwasher tabs or dish soap restocking on third day. That's just sloppy.

At most hotels we usually struggle all night trying to block out the parking lot lights so we LOVED the blackout shades here. We found the room to be very clean. Firm mattress. Can't beat the price! Walk is .8 miles to the beach through a quiet residential neighborhood. The bathrooms lack towel racks and TP holder (maybe because remodeling is still a work in progress?) but that would be a nice addition to the bathroom. We were greeted and treated kindly. You can hear cars whoosh by on the street but not loud enough to wake even light sleepers. Minutes to the airport but no loud airport noise. We'd definitely stay again.

Most important: we got an excellent nights sleep. Second floor in the back of the hotel (rm 222). It was quiet and we found the bed excellent. Service was helpful, polite. And the Wifi worked reasonably well - no problems with that. Also important is we booked the room for $84 (total) and in LA/Manhattan Beach area that is cheap. Walk in price was $109+tax. So all my suggestions are just ”future ideas” and I have no grounds to complain about anything since we slept really well there. And yes, we will be back again no future trips. Things that could be better: o ice maker ”out of service” - they had one unit and it was connected, would make whirring noise when pushing in the dispenser, but no ice. We used the in-room 'fridge to freeze some water bottles to keep our picnic things cool the next day. o inner courtyard looks like a small prison yard: the former pool and hottub are covered with what looks like roofing material and the fence around the pool area is locked off. No plants is the main problem. This could be a gem of a garden. My advice is to visit estate sales and garage sales to buy all the *large* potted plants they can find cheap (or free). o renovate the rooms a bit: e.g. rip out the old carpets and put in any (yes, even linoleum) floor that can be mopped - much cleaner, no place for fleas, bedbugs, or dust mites to live in. Wash the walls and paint where repairs have been made - simple things can make the room much more pleasant to be in. o put a window screen on the back window - which essentially faces a wall. But it was good (quiet) ventilation since it wasn't facing the street. o small grey mark on the pillow case and a stray hair on the bed - harmless stuff to us but other people might find more objectiionable. And some stains in the carpet that probably will never come out. Not a big deal.

When it comes to hotels, we adopt the mentality that it’s a place to rest your head in between exploring new places... The Seahorse Inn motel was perfect for this, and if you like to travel like us.. I would absolutely recommend. . The room was spacious, and would be worth 5* rating on Trip Advisor for a 2* property if it wasn’t for the air con. The room got quite hot both in the day and evening as the (air con system was quite small and underpowered for the space. The host and staff were friendly, there is a decent amount of car parking on site, it’s easy to find, and 20 minutes walk (yes - walk) from both Hermosa and Manhattan beaches... we stayed for 3 comfortable nights, and aside from struggling to work out how to use the shower initially, had a very comfortable stay. Other reviews rate the Mexican restaurant next door but having spent a week in Mexico prior to heading to California, we were all good for Mexican food, but the Mongolian BBQ opposite, and Panda Express up the road are walkable and very good cheap eats. Would stay again 😊

Pleasant stay and room is spacious. Everything is clean and good for people who plays golf. Lobby is good to hang out to chill and there’s a supermarket and eating place near the hotel, it is walking distance. Would be good to inform customer on the Marriott points when checking in or checking out. Hopefully I am still able to obtain the points. Overall satisfied and everyone including the housekeeping team is friendly.
