I was looking for a hotel that was on the beach in San Diego, reason it was for a girls trip and I wanted the convenience of the beach. I looked at so many places between Carlsbad and Coronado for the right hotel; many had a number of disappointing reviews etc, and so I figured as I got closer to leaving for SD I had to book a hotel ASAP. I picked the Surfer Beach Hotel and I am so happy I did. If you have ever been to Pacific Beach you know that it has a boardwalk and lots of places to eat and drink; well all of them are a 3 star hotel status (well in my eyes) due to wear and tear of being by the ocean. We arrived later (10:30pmish) on a Thursday and they emailed me on Thursday morning to confirm our arrival time (I appreciate this so much as I knew someone would be there). When we arrived the front desk person was so helpful and nice, we got our keys and headed to our double bed Ocean view. When I opened the door I was in the bathroom (no joke) and then the beds, small room and dated. It's not modern (except the bathroom was upgraded - shower area only) or fancy. I was not sure at that time if I made the right choice, went to bed and woke up to the most beautiful sound of the waves and a view you can't beat. I texted my sister and told her the hotel was quaint to set her expectations. I wasn't sure she would like it; but if we are being honest you barely spend time in the room anyways because there is so much to do. It's in a location where you can walk to food, bars, get surf lessons, shop all of it. If you don't plan on exploring other areas of SD forget renting a car because you don't need it, you can walk to everything including the grocery store (Ralph's - 2 blocks away). I saw tons of gripes about having to pay $30 for parking but when you get there and realize the area the hotel is in you are going to pay for parking no problem. This is a hotel that you need to request housekeeping, the pool is not heated, and if you are particular about your shower items bring those as well. If you can get over the ”aged” look of the hotel you will be fine. The rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the view is to die for. If you are paying those $250+ prices for these rooms get the view. I am going to make this an annual trip each year and stay here particularly; they care about you and your stay.

My wife and I, along with my oldest daughter and her husband stayed at Ocean Park last week. We had rooms next to each other on the 3rd floor with ocean views (which I recommend). Naturally we're in the midst of covid restrictions and all that implies. Having said that... The rooms were great! A lot of thought has gone into even small details of the room design. One of those small details is the light switch on each side of the bed is easy to reach and you don't have to go searching for an outlet for your phone charger. As a matter of fact, the outlets have 2 USB ports. There was a refrigerator in our room. There was also a pull-out couch. The shower pressure wasn't going to penetrate your skin, but was adequate. Compliments of covid, you have to go down to the desk to order new towels to be delivered to your room. That isn't exclusive to this hotel -- that's standard operating procedure these days. The 'continental' breakfast consisted of a sealed paper bag with an apple, orange, a bottle of water and something else. The desk has them and you have to ask for it. They also have discounts for military and old farts like myself. Everyone, from the manager to the other desk personnel were very friendly. There is a 7-11 and other stores easily within walking distance from the hotel. The parking will cost you $20.00 per day. It's in an underground parking garage and you can load your luggage and take it up the elevator. The view of the ocean and the sound of the ocean when you leave your patio door open is outstanding. Unfortunately the sound of the local homeless population is something we contended with. Beginning early in the morning they are loud (and sometimes profane). They homestead along the wall below. They can be entertaining at times however. One guy we referred to as, 'Captain Jack Sparrow' had a pirate hat, a red cape and black boots like you would wear to a costume party. When we mentioned it to hotel management they said to be sure to contact them when that happens and they will call the police to deal with it. Might want to keep that in mind. Most of the local 'entertainment' are pretty non-intrusive. They pretty much keep to themselves and don't do cat calls at your wife and daughters. They didn't do any cat calls or whistle at me either. I may not have been there type. Seriously, aside from the early morning noise (I can only assume they are all mostly deaf and that's why they have to yell when they talk), they weren't much of a factor. There are beachside shops all along the walkway to shop at. Fun to shop at. The bottom line is, the next time we visit San Diego you can bet we'll be staying at Ocean Park Inn if available. If not for the noisy early morning chatter I would have given them a 5 rating. I will enclose some photos. Keep in mind the room was much neater before we started to 'live' in it. It's much nicer than the photos of the room would suggest.

PROS • Located near the beach CONS • Staff poorly training about customer service; antagonistic and distrusting attitude toward guests. • When alerted about the hotel’s numerous issues, the management company never took accountability; they were simply focused on profit and ignored repeated calls regarding any resolution. • Not a hotel: it is a hostel; staff is only at the front desk from 8:00 am to about 9:00 pm. If you need more towels, sheets, pillows, or if the toilet backs up and starts spilling sewage all over the floor, there is no one to help you. • Rooms are dark and gloomy because they are painted in dark colors and lack large windows, evoking the feeling of living inside a garage or basement. • Furnishings are spartan and uncomfortable. • There is no closet or set of drawers to accommodate the clothes of two people. You must live out of your suitcases. • Essentially, no parking (4 parking spots with an expensive per night fee.) It is extremely challenging to find parking near the hotel. Plan to spend 45 minutes to an hour looking for parking each night. • The websites describes amenities that simply do not exist: no complimentary water, no microwave, no clock, no hair dryer — nothing that makes a guest feel welcomed and special. • The hotel does not have an ice machine or food vending machine. • AC/heating system is loud, ineffective, and difficult to use. Bring a fan. • The TV and remote are very difficult to operate; limited access to channels. • The walls are thin and poorly insulated for sound: you will hear everything going on in adjacent rooms. • The protruding corners of the wooden-framed beds are razor sharp and can produce deep, painful gashes to your legs. The staff is not trained to handle medical emergencies. They even lack an adequate first-aid kit. • The hotel is located adjacent to a popular public gathering space; it attracts an enormous amount of traffic: you will hear cars coming and going, people talking and laughing, radios, and street musicians that play on a loud speaker late into the evening. • There is no elevator. The stairs leading to the second story had a loose board that posed serious danger to its guests. • The bathroom has very low water pressure. • The bathroom door (a barn gate) does not allow any privacy. You can see and hear the occupant. • Bathroom floor tiles are very slippery when wet; the shower curtain is too short and allows lots of water to stream over the tile, that places guests at risk for a dangerous fall. • Hot water is not always available due to hotel’s insufficient hot water tank capacity. • The bed linens are very poor quality — thin and very rough and can cause a rash on sensitive skin. • Over several days, the room was never cleaned There is simply no housekeeping service during your stay. • Unless you are in one of two or three rooms that actually face the ocean, the vast majority of the rooms do not have an ocean view. The only way to get an ocean view is to open your door and wal

Great location with a beautiful view! We arrived 3 hours before check-in and although the room wasn't ready the hotel gave us our parking permit and we were able to park right at the beach and walk around. The staff was super friendly and the room was incredibly clean despite the fact that the hotel allows pets (an amenity that we really appreciate!) Even though we only spent about 24 hours in San Diego, our stay at the Diamond Head Inn helped us feel rejuvenated and rested and like we had a much longer vacation!

My wife and I had our first trip without children in over 20 years, and had a wonderful time at the Pacific Terrace Hotel. We stayed in one of the sunset suites, specifically the St. Croix suite, and it was amazing. The room was very clean and even more spacious than the pictures show. Our terrace was right over the pool with a direct view out to the ocean. We saw some amazing sunsets from our terrace (see photos). The whirlpool tub was huge, and felt good to soak in after a long day of site seeing. The staff was beyond friendly, providing tips and recommendations on things to do and how to get around the city / public transportation, as well as places to eat. The grounds were beautiful. The pool area had numerous tables and chairs, lounge chairs and cabanas. The glass surround of the pool area allowed from great views of the ocean beyond the boardwalk. We spent a couple afternoons enjoying a drink by the pool. The area neighborhood had so much to do, from little shops, restaurants and bars all along the boardwalk. We never felt unsafe or concerned at any point. I was going out to jog most morning's early (5am) along the boardwalk and never felt unsafe. BTW it is 6 miles round trip from the hotel to the end of the boardwalk at the Mission Bay channel. All in all we had a terrific experience and plan on staying here again in the future.

🗺️Location: There is an office area around, but there is a small mall opposite, which is very convenient for shopping and eating. The only inconvenience is that the hotel door is on a one-way street, and it is a bit troublesome to go back to the hotel on the other side. 🌳Environment: The floor is very high, there is a large swimming pool on the garden floor, and there are sofas and bamboo chairs outside the lobby on the first floor, which looks very comfortable. 🏨Facilities: After all, American hotels are old, so the facilities are not very new, but passable. There is a bar in the lobby, a convenience store, and a business lounge for members. There is no alcohol, only drinks and fruits. 🏠 Room: spacious and bright, with good hygiene. The bedding is very comfortable, and the curtains have good shading effect to ensure the quality of sleep. The bathroom is very new, except that there are no disposable items, (you can ask the front desk for lotion, combs, etc.) everything else is very good. All in all, highly recommended! Very friendly hotel. Because I didn't get a free room upgrade, my parking fee was waived, thank you very much!

A pretty large resort, but with personal attention by the staff. Ground were well appointed. The rooms were very well appointed, beds comfortable, people serving us were pleasant. Would never hesitate to recommend the place. Can't wait to go back. My only complaints as follows - the one bartender at the Tequila Bar definitely wasn't into serving people with a smile. I asked him what beer he had available and he said ”some domestics and some imports”, turned and walked away. That was a turnoff. The other people who served us over the 3 nights were all fine, but not him. Also, we were on the 15th floor, yet surprisingly we could hear conversations down in the pool area, and especially the music playing. I found that as being a little odd. That is the only reason for dropping it down from 5 stars.

We'll definitely stay here whenever visiting San Diego. This was our second visit and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our room was very clean. We stayed in a room with a king sized bed, overlooking the pool and waterfront. Our experience with staff was fantastic. It was nice to experience great customer service, which seems to be lacking in todays world. Kudos to staff!! The location of the hotel worked perfect for us. The only thing I would like to see is to add a makeup mirror in the bathroom. At least our room didn't have one. We were celebrating an anniversary and staff left us a treat in our room, which was very thoughtful. THANK YOU Courtyard San Diego Airport/Liberty Station!!!!!

Uncomfortable bed which gave me a backache, housekeeping services every 4 days unless you request it, ran out of shower gel and shampoo, room wasn't super clean. Bathroom sink so clogged up I simply used the bathtub to clean up and brush my teeth. Maintenance did correct the issue. When I asked for more shampoo and shower gel I did get a short refill. Balconies are REALLY tiny. Surprise after my trip that I had to pay for parking! This was a pre-paid in full business trip and the fact that you had to pay for parking was an after-the-fact unhappy update. I didn't even have a vehicle the entire time.

Admittedly, we selected this hotel because it was the best price in the area and was very close to Petco Park. Since we were in San Diego to attend a game, it was an easy decision. Our room was fine but fairly small. The bathroom was quite large and very nice. (I would have settled for a slightly smaller bathroom with larger room.) Our friends' room was even smaller. The rooftop bar had a great view and was very nicely set up. The one big negative I had....It was advertised online and in the elevator that the Bistro offered drinks and food throughout the day. The reality was that, due to limited staffing, it was closed. Complimentary coffee was available there....if you were lucky enough to find it. We were later told to just wave down the front desk person to get more coffee. I understand that, due to Covid, places are short staffed. I let them know that they need to change their web site since we were expecting to find a place within the hotel to grab coffee and snacks or a few bites. Otherwise, we were able to walk to so much in the area.

The hotel is large, surrounded by three floors. Breakfast is the best among the different Westers who have stayed for a few days. The equipment in the room is relatively new, and the new air conditioner is basically no noise. Much better than yesterday's Los Angeles. First time I came there with my husband in November 2021, and second time - with my middle daughter of 11 years old in March 2022. I love this hotel -we took both times side sea view - park and ocean -amazing view! Probably front beach view is better, but for us too expensive. Don't recommend rooms without view. All rooms ( I suppose) have balcony, where pleasant to sit to have tea (or drinks in the evening). More romantic place than family. But my daughter loved pool and beach. So it's family too:) Close to hotel there is nice park with kids stuff - so families are welcome. Standard Rooms are pretty big and have two queen beds. So both time it were two of us - but it can be easily 4 persons, especially if it is family with 2 adults and 2 kids. Breakfast - for additional money is medium, not bad, but in city we had better breakfasts. Bar is nice:) Dinner-never tried. But within 150-300 meters of walk - great restaurants -italian (2) and others. Stuff is very friendly and pleasant. Rooms are clean and not tired. I will definetely return there. Also - we like to walk -it is 20 min walk or 5-7 min drive to La Jolla caves, seals. I did it both times and will do again -love to watch sea lions, seals and birds.

SD has lived in this house for 19 years. The location is good to go out on the 5th highway. There is an In-N-Out nearby and it is two steps away. It is also close to the Garnet Ave business district. The hotel's indoor parking space is relatively limited, and there is no more when you go back late at night. This is a pet friendly hotel, although clean in place but the corridor can still smell some, mindful or allergic people should pay attention.

Overall, I'd give the hotel a 6 out of 10 rating. The property was nice, centrally located, clean, and I'd definitely book it again in the future. There were a few things that were inconvenient, such as the laundry room was unavailable, the breakfast room is closed until further notice, and the service was a little slow, but other than those few negatives, our stay was peaceful and enjoyable!

The hotel room is very old. The location and environment are very good. However, after the departure, the authorization deposit was deducted for more than 28 US dollars. No one mentioned it, including Ctrip and the hotel front desk. I don't know why the previous comments didn't mention Everyone should pay attention to when considering hotels.

The hotel is located in the city center. In the gas lamp block, there are many red men and women every day. There are very few Chinese people. Many foreigners should come to vacation. After paying for Ctrip, they will have to pay the resort fee after check-in, which is about 40 dollars a night. But the other us grant, which is relatively resident, has a price/performance ratio and will not stay in this hotel. As a hotel, professionalism is a little lacking. The facilities are just like American hotels. Basically, all of them need to be equipped and there is no hot water bottle.

Horton is a very old hotel with a beautiful lobby, elegant blue and white design, and a string of lights on the trees in the yard. Stairs and elevators are old and new, and they are well protected. We booked two nights with two twin rooms with fireplaces, on the second floor, two squatting rooms but the layout was different. The room facilities and services are to be spit. The leaks in the bathtubs of our two rooms have bluish spots. The water in one room sink is only hot and the hot water is very hot. The fireplace in both rooms is not easy to use. One of them is completely can not open. Some of us have a fever, call the front desk 3 times and wait an hour to get a blanket. It is worth mentioning that most of the hotels in the West are very thin, the pillows are very high, and Horton only has blankets. The service staff did not smile and was not enthusiastic, and could not match the services of other hotels in our time. Regarding parking, the hotel does not have free parking and a one-way street. Paid parking is expensive, we parked in a nearby public car park, there are many homes around, we found the cheapest is $15 a day, opposite the cvs pharmacy. Regarding dining, the hotel does not include breakfast, and the breakfast is not cheap. Starbucks is on the corner of the street. It is about 5 minutes drive from the famous cafe 21. You can eat brunch.

Just beside La Jolla Beach, the sea view room, the balcony can see the sunset over the sea, the environment has nothing to say. Just outside the Ctrip price, there are 32 knife taxes per day and 40 knife parking fees. 1500 per night, small expensive, the only drawback

The hotel is not closed management, the rooms are open around the parking lot. The facilities are quite old, especially the air conditioner, like a tractor. Fortunately, the room is clean. Breakfast is eaten in the lobby, very simple.

At first glance, the hotel, as its name suggests, has a history, but it is well maintained and decorated. The location is close to the old city station, the traffic is very convenient, and the airport is not far away. There is actually a swimming pool in the hotel. Although it is a bit cool now, it is still quite surprised.

Close to downtown, Old Town, Zoo, and 5 minutes to the beach and shopping and golf just 5 minutes away also.

Personally very good, hotel has refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave, free parking, breakfast is good, basic coffee, bread, eggs, waffles, milk, juice, oatmeal, fruit and everything, if not particularly picky Yes, these facilities are quite complete, the bed is very large in size, and it is very clean. It is too close to the highway, and it will have some impact if you sleep lightly. We basically went out after breakfast in the morning, and did n’t go back until 7 or 8 o’clock in the evening. For us, it was very affordable and very satisfying. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture.

Very good location, just 6 minutes walk from Santa Fe station to the hotel. It is very close to seaport village and Midway Island Carrier Museum. It can be walked for more than 10 minutes, eliminating the need to rent a car. Afternoon tea is served from 5-6pm in the hotel. It offers desserts, homemade pastries, wine and other foods, and the taste is very good. Starbucks coffee, tea and other drinks are provided in the room. There are many cafes for breakfast and restaurants for lunch nearby. There is a 711 convenience store 200 meters away. Clean and tidy, good service, there is a free shuttle to the airport, every half an hour, about 10 minutes to the airport.

The hotel is in a very good location, close to the promenade and the old town. Comfortable bath and room. Good swimming pool. At the entrance they gave a voucher for kayaking or biking for an hour. Also vouchers for two bottles of water. The situation that happened to us, the room was with the smell of dampness, that it was impossible to breathe, after a complaint it was quickly changed to us.

My name is Dustin and my Girlfriend and were residents here for a week. The experience was outstanding and a 10/10 would recommend. From the customer service to the decor to the outstanding food and service at The Westerly restaurant. They have a beautiful and elegant courtyard to hangout, socialize, and dine! The workers here made you feel like you were at home. Specifically, I want to shout out Anthony(Server and Bartender) and Rodney Robinson(Executive Chef) at The Westerly! They were phenomenal people first, and a bonus was enjoying Anthony’s exceptional flavorful cocktails and Executive Chef Robinson hospitality and creative/tasteful dishes. Much Love Hilton!

The location of the hotel is very good, next to the lively ”Little Italy” dining street, close to the attractions such as the aircraft carrier USS Midway and Victory Kiss and the light rail station. However, the sound of planes taking off and landing at the nearby airport is relatively loud, and the hotel facilities are relatively shabby. There is no coffee machine and it is not convenient to drink hot water.

My husband was working in the area and I chose this hotel for location and pool. The staff was great from the front desk ( Richie), breakfast crew to the lovely bartender ( didn't get her name). The bed was way too soft but the room was nice. The pool area was very nice, plenty of chairs and towels. Disappointed the hot tub was taped off.
