I come to Cologne for work some times a year, and normally I choose the "regular" Ibis hotel close to this one, because usually cheaper. This time prices were almost the same, so I wanted to change. Let's start with the good things first: kind personnel, nice, non-standard lobby, soundproofed room (even at first floor, in front of the tram stop, it was relatively silent), clean room, USB sockets. Basic breakfast but in line with price. The hotel has been well renovated inside rooms and lobby, but details are not much - stairs, and old style doors and door locks are an example. The, the main issue: in the room I had, the entrance is into the bathroom. Then you may go in the proper bedroom, separated by a glass door. I do not think this makes really sense, and it is sufficient for me to stay away next time, considering that there are better alternatives at similar or lower prices. The room itself is very basic and small, smaller than a regular Ibis (In my previous understanding of the strange Accor naming, the Styles brand had to be one step above Ibis, but it is not the case for this hotel - more like an Ibis Budget). For those of you that need a dark room to sleep, darkening is not particularly efficient, at least for the rooms facing the main road where there is a lot of light.

I was quite nervous about booking this IBIS hotel just outside the immediate centre of Cologne as it is only officially a 2 star property. That's below the more standard 3 stars for the chain. I wondered what might be different or indeed wrong. Nothing. It's an IBIS property very much in line with all their others and indeed, better than many I've experienced. The tram lines 16 & 18 run from the central station to the hotel in about 5 minutes. Without luggage, you can walk to the centre in about 15 minutes. There are quite a lot of eating and drinking places close to the hotel, but most of the sights are closer to the centre. The hotel is modern and clean. The lobby is very modern. Staff are welcoming and friendly, but like everywhere else in December 2020, you must have a COVID pass to stay here. Rooms are small and basic, but comfortable. I had booked a double bed, but in fact, it's two singles pushed together, with separate bedding and linens. Not really a problem. There's a small desk with a chair, a flat screen TV, reliable WIFI (but annoyingly you have to log in every time you come back to the room) and good lighting/power points. There's small space for hanging clothes and bags, but not much. The beds are comfortable and the linens clean and fresh. The bathrooms are very small, but there's room enough for one adult at a time. Good water pressure in the single shower stall. Too good. The water was going everywhere. The usual IBIS body/hair wash in locked containers. The container by the sink was empty when I checked in and it wasn't replaced for two days despite all requests. The only knock I can make against the otherwise prompt housekeeping. Towels could do with an update, but they were clean. Breakfast is excellent and well worth including in your rate. They have a LOT of options. More than everything you'd ever want. All in a cool cafe space. Cereals, fresh breads, pastries, cut and whole fruit, yogurt, cheese, meats, eggs. All buffet style. They could do with more than two coffee machines when things get busy, but the drink options are plentiful. It's a very good buffet. You can't really go much wrong with IBIS. You know what you're going to get and generally they always deliver. Very much the case here.

We received a great welcome on our arrival. Reception had car parking details ready as well as our spa pack. The location is so near to Cologne cathedral, showing centre and the river as well as a good public transport hub. Movement around the hotel and the many facilities are well used by residents and visitors alike, but not overcrowded. The roof terraces are well laid out as are the pools saunas, massage and rest areas. This hotel offers a clothes free environment and it was so good to relax naturally after time in the city.

The hotel is centrally located in Cologne. Even the ride in the lift is something special - on the back walls pictures run with, great idea. The Maisonette room in the upper floor with roof terrace was very fine, so I could still sit out a little uninterrupted to work or read in the evening. Beautiful would have been a private LAN connection to the writing sight. There is breakfast in the separate restaurant in the same house. A very nice house overall - like again ! :-)

we had planned one night in Cologne and were looking for a hotel close to the shopping district, I google many, and this one stood out, and I was so happy. the staff were so very friendly, the manager waited for us at 11pm when we checked in, the bartender settled us in with a few local beers and Made us feel at home the rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and breakfast was so good. there's a lift, it's close to everything, and the service is outstanding! 10/10 would come back here - it's such a vibe! so grateful to the staff - thank you!

As soon as I arrived at the hotel, I felt the enthusiasm of a grandfather who helped parking and deliver luggage. He introduced a lot of things in Cologne to us. It really helped us a lot. I did n’t eat breakfast when I saw it. I can see it directly in the room. The clone cathedral is still very good. The air conditioner is easy to use. On such a cold day, the air conditioner is still warm. After staying for three days, the free water was only given for one day. Finally, I paid an extra 25 euros to get it back.

I have stayed in many hotels that fall far short of this hostel on so many counts. The staff are so welcoming helpful and nothing is too much trouble. A breakfast room with tea and coffee 24/7 and snacks put out. A fridge where you can buy drinks and if reception is closed a honesty policy. I am a 59 year old man (I use my wifes account) but did not feel out of place. I had booked a bed in a dormitory but the young man on reception said a single room was free would I like a upgrade which was very kind. The room itself was great each room has a theme and mine was of boats the bed was made from a boat it had a rocking chair normal chair and bureau desk. The bed was super clean and the linen crisp. The whole hostel is spotless compliments to the cleaner. There is a lively bar downstairs which is a bonus as you do not need to venture out on wet nights like I had. However you cannot hear the bar as the reception is level 4 and my room was level 6. I was only there a few hours as I had a plane to catch and wanted to get a few hours sleep. The location is great for getting around either on foot or public transport. I wish I had stayed longer would I stay again definitely. Thank you for your hospitality.

Stayed here for one night last weekend and for the price I paid it was ok. Hotel staff polite on check in and spoke English as I struggled with German. Room was small but comfy. There was a little street noise late on but nothing major. Shower was hot and had good pressure. One thing I did think was bizzar was I had gone out to do the local parkrun on the Saturday morning. I left the sign on the door to say do not disturb as I was going to pack an leave on my return, which would be well before the 11am checkout. When I got back the hotel has said they had given the keys to the cleaning staff even thou I hadn't asked for it. When I found the cleaner he had a pile of keys but just on the floor. Anyone could have walked past an taken any key.

This hotel is very unique, with a circular configuration, so great views from all sides. If you are curious like me, you will enjoy exploring it. Pros: Wonderful staff very friendly Beautifully designed lounge areas to relax on ground floor Superb bar (with nice food) Wonderful breakfast Downsides: Brand new hotel so spa still under construction (I’m sure it will be worth the wait) Only showers are available, no baths (I was told by reception) Single guests are not able to use the sofas in the bar area. Pillows - extremely soft. There was a pillow menu but I didn’t know where to contact to get a replacement so I just put up with it. Overall - a great experience and I’ll definitely make this my hotel of choice in Cologne.

Stayed here for a long weekend in Cologne during a european heatwave. The hotel is located right in the city centre with easy access to public transport, including the main train station and the tram. It is also only 10 minutes walk away from the famous Kolner Dom. Just outside the hotel, there are many restaurants, bars and fast food outlets to suit everyone. It is in the perfect location for everything. The hotel itself has a welcoming and clean lobby area, with pleasant staff upon arrival. The rooms are fairly basic, but also quite spacious. There was a lack of air conditioning throughout the summer which was difficult to deal with, however it was perhaps the hottest weekend of the summer in Germany. For the price we paid, it was a great deal and in a great location for us.

Breakfast is average, variety is okay, there is no omelette for making omelette, fool! Almost all cold, the orange juice is not as good as on the plane, and the bread and sausages are not bad. Don't talk about the service, it's pretty bad. The first few people are all noisy, red ears and red ears, just to charge more! No matter what country people are noisy, this is what happened. It ’s raining all day, just ask if there is an umbrella in the room, say no, there is nowhere, not even the front desk, everything is right, which is a 5 star hotel?

The good thing about booking with Holiday Inn is that you know exactly what you are getting in advance. No surprises caused by internet photos that look nothing like reality. This hotel is modern, comfortable and has decent service. The location is a little inconvenient, though there are plentiful public transport connections by tram and bus / metro. The tram stop is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The bus stops just a couple of minutes away. You can get to Cologne central station in between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on the route you choose. Breakfast is decent and is included in the rate.

Pro: - Big room with four windows which you can open (we had the outer ring) - Nice theme, the space flight in the lobby and in the room details - Good shower with rain shower and nice shampoo & shower gel - Nice breakfast with view over Cologne Con: - A bit too little lights, it was hard to read on the desk - No more mini rides since Jan 1st, which was always nice to see the city surroundings differently - For the sauna access you need to do a COVID test, which is free for Germans but costs 15 euro for non Germans. We didn’t use it during our stay.

Run away from it. they do not honour prices, never seen an attitude like theirs. On Monday (Dec. 14 2020) I started browsing for a hotel in Cologne, Germany, and found a room at this Classic Hotel Harmonie with an attractive rate, before booking I contacted the hotel by phone to ask about policy regarding refundable rates, because due Covid, the city might have a lockdown and I would loose my payment. I told the employee I wanted to make a refundable reservation, either by phone or online, she gently replied to me that I should send an e-mail to the hotel informing the dates, name of guests and etc, and that another hotel staff member would contact me in order to inform about refundable rates. I did that, and she acknowledge receiving my e-mail, I replied to her asking if wouldn’t be better if I booked the hotel room right at that moment at the price advertised while waiting for them to check the refundable rates policy. She replied that there wouldn’t a need for that and that I should wait for the hotel staff return to me. Today (December 16 2020) I received an e-mail informing that due to a fair that will happen in September the new prices were 402,90€/day instead of the 77,70€ that were available on Monday. I immediately called the hotel, the first person I talked to wasn’t available and the new staff member told me that they didn’t know about the fair, and since I haven’t booked when I saw the good price they couldn’t do it right now, and she even told me that should I have booked on Monday, even so they would increase my price. this to me is greed and dishonesty. So I suggest all travellers try booking some other hotel, because this one might give you headaches.

Stayed for 1 night, two adults and 7yr old kid, and booked via LHW. Overall - wonderful place, old-fashioned feeling and very warm, attentative service. Before coming, we exchanged a couple of communications via email and they were responsive and detailed. Upon arrival we got triple upgrade - which I was really surprised, even we've booked via LHW / status tier. The room we got was amazing - very spacious, super design and unusual shape, with extra bed for the kid already arranged. Nice touches like free minibar and ultra quick room service with some home made sweets. Hotel interior was nicely decorated for festive season (also exterior as well, not just inside), with special attention to Ginger House at the lobby, where the kid got complimentary treats, as well as we bought back home traditional Stollen. Breakfast was good and included for LHW members, yet the room itself was very dark, with dimmed lights, which perhaps is nice for a dinner, but looks strange at the breakfast time. Food was mix of buffet and a la carte, high quality and great taste (incl their specialty dish). All at all - great and truly luxury experience, a bit overpriced due to special season, but nevertheless a beautiful stay, well relaxed and enjoyed. Would stay again if in Cologne.

I expected not much from a youth hostel to be honest. I was instantly wowed by the friendly and helpful staff and even more so by my room. I took a single room, and it was really well laid out, clean and simple. The view of the green area and the Rhine is beautiful, however, be aware that at night there is a lot of noise from the young people in the fire pit outside (it is a youth hostel after all!). The rooms don't have aircon and it's impossible to open windows to let air in because in wooded green areas there are a lot of insects. I tried the food in their restaurant. It was great value for money and very tasty indeed. The staff again, they were very friendly. The location of the hostel is in walking distance of the U-Bahn into town (about 5 mins walk to the station) and there's a zoo virtually next door if you have some spare time. Let's talk about the amazing breakfast finally. Please, if you can, book an inclusive breakfast. The food is enough to keep you full for a good long while if you have a busy day, so, stock up on quality food and drinks. I love their breakfasts! So to sum up: this is a great hotel, good people, a bit noisy at times, amazing quality of food, drink and the stay was really, really good with everything in a commutable distance. I will definitely be back!

This hotel was absolutely amazing. I actually can’t describe in words how kind the staff were in this hotel. When I got there I was really exhausted from my journey to this city, but the friendly greeting in this hotel immediately made me feel welcome! The guy who helped me check in was very friendly. When I booked the room throughout this website I made a request to have a quiet room. When I arrived in the room I could really see they were really thoughtful about choosing the room, because it was really quiet and far away from the other rooms, so you won’t hear the foot steps or doors slamming at night. Also wanted to thank the friendly guy who was working on the afternoon shifts (Thursday 2 September and Friday 3 September). He was very kind and patient whenever I would ask something. My English sometimes gets a little lost in the translation, but he didn’t made me feel rushed and took his time to understand what I trying to say. He is true gentleman! When I was ready to leave there was a lovely lady ready to help me with the checkout. What I really liked about her that she was not only polite, but also genuine and very kind! The room, where I was staying in, was also very clean. Which made me feel comfortable to stay in this hotelroom. I couldn’t wish for anything else during my stay. We knew that reception opening time was till 22:00 and therefore i wrote, in the booking note, "late checkin, our flight will land at 21.25".  I thought that someone was waiting for us to checkin, it was just a matter of 30min. When we arrived, around 22:30, we found the door closed, we rang the bell, but nobody was answering.  We then tried to call the hotel emergency number, none answered. Worried abut the situation, it was night and we were on the street without any accommodation.  We then went into the restaurant beside the hotel entrance and fortunately we found a girl very kind to help us. She also tried to call the emergency number without success. After 5 calls, finally someone answered the phone, but unfortunately she was not able to speak English. I don't speak German, unfortunately, and I passed my phone to the girl of restaurant that talked to the girl from the hotel emergency number. She said that our code was 888, but neither us and the restaurant girl were able to find a pin pad to type this pin. The guy at the phone did not have an idea on where this pin pad could have been. After at least 20 minutes and other 2 calls, the hotel guy told us that the pin pad was in the street close to the ring bell, something really invisible, especially in the night. We finally got the key and entered our room. Together with the key, we got a welcome letter. Unfortunately it was in German and therefore we were not able to read it. Is it a good welcome? When we entered the room, we immediately noticed that it was not very clean and the bathroom even worse. The wc was really dirty (see pictures). We also noticed that a lot of long hairs were on the room/bath floor and on the table. We also found long hairs on bed sheets (see picts). Only half roll of toilet paper was available. We could not fix our issues because in the meanwhile the restaurant closed and if we had called the hotel emergency number, we would not have been able to communicate. The following day, we talked to the receptionist and he really apologized for what happened. He also changed our room, fortunately. We have finally asked for a late checkout for the next day, since our flight is at 22:00. We requested checkout at 18:00 and expected an immediate positive answer, after all problems we had, but the receptionist said that had to ask the boss. After a couple of hours we asked again and she said that we need to wait for tomorrow morning for his answer. The next day, late checkout was denied because the cleaning staff had to clean (?) the rooms. While leaving the hotel, we saw the bed sheets were left (during cleaning service) on the floor ... without any protection and we fully understand why the bed sheets were full of hairs... Having the room not fully cleaned can happen also in the best hotels, but usually a good customer care can fix immediately the issues and maybe add something complimentary to the impacted guest, just to give a strong sign of sorry. We haven't received anyth

You cannot go wrong if you choose this hotel. It is steps from the Dom, Ludwig & Roman Museums and a 5 minute walk to the train station. I traveled alone and appreciated the safety of the area and did not have to walk long distances to get back and forth. My room was spacious and spotless. The friendly hotel staff speak English. The breakfast was very good. The offerings were a typical German breakfast with cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, granola. I did not have a view of the Dom, but a dramatic view of the Rathaus and Great St. Martin's and the rooftops of Cologne so I did not miss out on a view. I can't be more complimentary about the location. You are walking distance to the Altmarkt, Heumarkt and the Rhine. Note: even if you do not stay at this particular hotel, I would stay in one in close proximity. There are larger hotels at Neumarkt, but it is a bit of a walk (through the shopping district) to get the the Dom and the museums. I walked past some of the hotels on the other side of the train station (away from the Dom). These were more residential streets and as a I was traveling alone, I didn't like the feel of the neighborhood. My hotel location let me go see the Dom facade lit up and spend some time in contemplation of that magnificent building rather late. The wifi is an UNSECURED hotspot. It was hard to log on. If you really care about staying secure, make sure that you have a really good cellular plan. I am not sure if this is typical for German hotels.

I would like to tell about the case I met with this hotel. it terrified me and all the situation with attitude is very much strange and not acceptable. Our booking in the hotel Dorint An der Messe Köln from 29.02.2020 to 04.03.2020 was made in the website booking.com on 27 December 2019 with the tariff "early bird" which supposed some advanced prices as far as i can understand it. The full amount of 3 492 Euro was taken from my card on 29.12.2019 as it was partly refund tariff ( 10% could be possibly returned). The hotel is situated practically in the territory of Koelnmesse, in other words, a place for the fairs. So, the only purpose people ever stay in this hotel is to take part in the fair, not the sightseeing of Cologne, which is far away and absolutely not convenient to stay. We planned to take part in the fair EISENWARENMESSE. The first unpleasant thing happened when i checked the booking.com website in February just to see what the prices for this hotel is now. To my upper surprise i saw an astonishing change of price, the same 2 rooms, for the same 3 people for the same dates were 2,952 EURO!! I wrote the email to the booking.com and got the reply that after our stay we can get this difference because i proved it with the facts. The only thing we had to do was to stay in the hotel! BUT! You all know the problem with corona virus which happened unpredictably and nobody expected it. The EISENWARENMESSE was postponed to the same dates but in 2021, in a year time. The fair tickets are valid for the next year fair. And accordingly we asked the hotel to postpone our hotel rooms which were paid already to the same period next 2021 year. It seems very reasonable as the Air companies refunded the flights tickets without any charge. BUT! The hotel refused to do it, not to refund the payment, but to postpone the same booking to the time of the fair in 2021. What we could get is 10% of the 3 492 Euro payment!!! we consider this situation very unfair and the stuff of the hotel to whom we applied not friendly and not flexible. We will never stay in that hotel though we visit the fair in Cologne every year. It is terrible that the hotel got the money for nothing, they had our money for 2 months and didn't want to refund in this situation when all the world if struggling the virus and trying to be flexible in many ways. It is up to any person to take its own decision to stay or not in this greedy and deaf people ruled hotel.

Very characteristic small hotel, almost in line with all my expectations for small local hotels in Europe. Convenient location, you can see the cathedral by opening the window; walking to any attraction in the old town is very close; there are no elevators on the fourth floor, only two of our rooms on the fourth floor, very quiet, simple and comfortable decoration of the duplex room. The family of four is just right; the bathroom has a bathtub, the breakfast is very cute; the service guy is very nice, reserved the parking space for us, the parking lot walks to the hotel for five minutes; met the carnival, the day we walked the city, the lovely Cologne .

I have been coming to koln Xmas markets for 12 years and stayed at the Dorint an deer Messe , this year we switched to the Dorint an der Messe. What a mistake. The hotel location is great for serving the town and the Xmas markets but the hotel staff were the worst I have ever experienced. 1.The beds were never made for the three nights we stayed even after informing the staff after the first day , we were informed that a button on the door told the cleaning staff not to disturb apparently this had been pressed ? Not informed so after day one we told reception staff we would like our rooms cleaned for the remaining two nights , this never happened the floor was never Hoover and the beds never made we have photos of this . Following a discussion with reception staff they also confirmed that they would photograph and raise a complaint on my behalf again reception staff were not very accommodating or helpful. Also there are no toiletries in the room this needs to be asked for at reception along with the mini bar (we only found this out by a fellow guest being told from a departing guest) 2.The checking staff were not very helpful or informative as we had experienced at the Dorint an der Messe and this was the reason we have revisited the Dorint chain for 12 years. I understand COVID has brought many problems and rules in to play at hotels but this particular hotel did not help by the lack of courtesy that is shown at their sister hotels . Their attention to detail went amiss and given that we complained to the duty manager (really a supervisor)

Booked this place for a 4 day business trip. When I read the reviews (after booking!!) I feared the worst.. but it was clean, the bed was comfy, the shower was good, and the staff were nice. Pros: good breakfast, good WiFi, clean room, shower (to suit tall person), good housekeeping (towels, toilet paper etc), fridge and TV, helpful staff, bed comfortable, no street noise, Lidl 5 mins away, nice restaurant (scampinos) 850m up the road. Cons: no dinner on site, bar not open, no ice for room drinks (shell garage 10 mins walk away has it), shower drain slow to clear, air con not always effective (found it a little stuffy at times), bit of a trek to train station, in-room safe didn't work, slightly scruffy area of town. Overall if you are expecting crap, it's really good. If you are expecting amazing it is sub-standard. I was in town for work, and my room ended up being the thing I looked forward to, because i thought it was going to be terrible, so i was pleasantly surprised!! Also I was commuting to and from dusseldorf, and the train system is mental unless you use the high speed ICE train which is pricey as hell.

Standed here for 3 days during Gamescom. Typical Italian hotel - paintings, mirrors, interestingly decorated corridors. The rooms themselves are already old - the carpet was erased, the soap holder was broken in the bathroom. There was no air conditioner in the room, but lucky with the weather and that didn't prevent. The night had to close the windows, though the street is small, but cars are driving, people are walking. But the room is really huge. The closet, the hangers, the beds are comfortable, we have perfectly slept after a hard day on the feet at the exhibition. Breakfasts are good, everything was enough. On the corner (if you get out of the hotel, then right to the 50-100) there is a great Chinese restaurant. If you cross the road and continue, there in one quarter of Wapiano, in the evening it was possible to eat quietly. From Gamescom it is, of course, far-wat, on foot you will not get. It is necessary to go minutes 10-15 to the metro-electric station and from there to go 2 stops. There is no shopping nearby, 20 minutes walk to the center where all the shops are. To the big supermarket 10 minutes walk. In general, the hotel is a little off the main roads, but quite acceptable.

It was a very clean hotel. Our room beds are shiny. Workers like the Gulery helper. Location is less far from the centre but 10 minutes by walking. We haven't already walked everywhere. I recommend.

I've choose this hotel because of the location, the view and the reviews. I was surprised that when i arrived, during my check in no one mentioned small fact that the hotel decided to repair their aircon system (MID of August!!) so the AC dont work in the rooms. I discover that when i wend up and they left a letter on a table. I could not open the window as it was facing the road direction. Our agent reach out to them and we managed to agree to move to their other Leonardo hotel in the city, we rushed back to the hotel to discover that actually that was a mistake and there are no rooms available. as a compensation they moved us to the other side ( facing the lake) to be able to open the windows and offer a dinner. I dont think that was enough, not working AC is a major thing which need to be written at a stage you order the hotel and definitely mentioned when you check in to the hotel. There were other items with the first room i got such as the fact it was not clean and very old, but compare to the other issue that was minor. Its a shame, this hotel has the potential but they really need to step up, i wont say its a 4 star hotel.

The location of the hotel is quite good, 10-15 minutes walk from Cologne Cathedral and the city centre! The overall environment and service is worse than the previous 4 star hotel apartments in Frankfurt and Berlin! First of all, there is no toiletries (this can be understood), even the tea bags of instant coffee bags are not available (all the previous 4 star hotels are complete); secondly, the early check-in must be 25 euros, asking for a quiet room inside the room ➕ 10 ohms 🤪This reminds me of Spring Airlines in an instant. However, this is a 4 star hotel. It was also a thing that was never encountered in a German hotel of the same level. I should not choose this hotel again next time.

Great location of the hotel. Just 1 alleyway from Heumarkt. When arriving by car, park in the Heumarkt underground. You get a discount in the hotel. Price €8,-/24hrs but price will rise to €12/24hrs. Hotel was clean and followed the COVID regulation. Our room had a good bed and a small safe (Ipad could just fit, laptop could not). All was clean but below the bed it was a but dusty/sandy. However, what would you do there?! Would go here again!
