This is a very historic older hotel. It was built to be one of the grandest back at the turn of the 1900s with lots of granite, marble and such and it was very nice. Since it was before lots of electricity though, and before a lot of indoor plumbing, it means the rooms had to be adjusted and modernized. They have been modernized quite well and the room had plenty of outlets with charging ports and very modern facilities including an IPad at bedside to contact the hotel or make requests. The bathroom is now spacious and nice. But all the modernization comes at a cost and the actual size of the room is relatively small with all the furniture in it. I prefer a less fancy room with more space but again, it is purely a personal taste and my wife thought the room was great. The reception area was beautiful and the front desk staff was extremely nice and friendly and made us feel very welcome. He was clearly proud of his hotel and his city and it was nice to see. Parking is mainly by valet and they were quick and polite. Those were the good things. The not so good was that it was noisy. bright and the bathroom. Noisy - Whether it was people in the hall, other rooms or sirens going back and forth on the road, it was not a quiet place. We were 13 floors up and still it felt like the sirens and loud cars and motorcycles were right outside. Children and intoxicated partiers in nearby rooms were quite loud and easy to hear. Bright - even with the blackout drapes pulled, the sides of the drapes still let in a lot of light making it hard to sleep. It would have been simple to extend the drapes a few more inches past the window but that was not done for some reason. Bathroom - I am attaching pictures to show what I mean here. First, the door to the bathroom is colored plastic and does not reach the floor or the ceiling. More like the door on a public bathroom stall. Great if you are by yourself but with a spouse, significant other or even kids, it would be tough since you cannot latch or lock it. Perhaps it is petty but the shower gel, shampoo and lotion are all in bottles but the print on them is so small and in such an odd color that I could not read them without my glasses and I do not shower with my glasses. At the very least, they should put a clearly read label on each bottle at the bottom just saying "Shampoo", "Shower Gel" or whatever. Even after the shower with my glasses on I had trouble figuring out which was which. if you like historic places you will like this hotel. If you prefer comfort, you will probably not like it as much. So although I rated it a 3, please note that is just for my personal preference of comfort rather than historic or ritzy. If I were in Birmingham again, I would stay somewhere less expensive.

You expect to pay a premium for a downtown hotel in a large city, but you also expect the location to be convenient and close to "the action." The high price was there (almost $200 a night) but not the location. It's on a rather desolate stretch of street not close to much, and mildly intimidating. Once inside the hotel, the service is good and the rooms are very nice--just what you would expect from a roadside Fairfield Inn--nothing special but just fine. I will say that the breakfast offering was the worst on our trip--a sad collection of little muffins and some granola bars on a little table opposite the elevator. They can do better than this. I'm not sure what the options are for other places downtown but I'd check them out before booking here. But if you decide to stay, you'll have a perfectly acceptable experience in your room and from the staff.

My daughter and I stayed one night here after traveling to B’ham for a concert at Iron City. I’d looked into a couple of hotels that were within walking distance to the venue, but after reading some sketchy reviews decided we should stay a little farther away. The Redmont was perfect! It was a short, inexpensive Lyft ride away from Iron City, and we always felt safe. Our room was a little small, but clean and very comfortable. Room service was prompt, and the food good. The lobby area has pretty decor which my daughter enjoyed for photos. We would absolutely stay here again if our travel plans take us to Birmingham!

I stayed here for 1 night and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Birmingham. The hotel recently remodeled and they did a great job and I mean great. To start the bathrooms are fantastic. I stayed on floor 13 and had great water pressure. The glass shower was well designed with an adjustable height shower head. The rooms are very nice with a large mounted TV, comfortable beds as expected from Hilton and just nice furniture. I've see a lot of hotel remodels that are just so-so but whoever did this design hit a home run. The breakfast for diamond members was good even during COVID. Shoutout to Dexter at the front desk and the housekeeper on floor 13 on July 23rd for making special arrangements for a late checkout so I could take an important video call from my room. Bravo y'all!

I am thrilled to shine a spotlight on this hotel! This place has been a lifesaver for me. My son has medical needs at UAB Hospital and the location is super convenient and perfect for us. Upon entering the hotel, the ambiance in the lobby is warm and inviting with its cleanliness and colorful design. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the outstanding manager Ms. Nina, Shantel, and the entire front desk staff who go above and beyond in taking good care of me. Customer service is on point! I always feel welcome and valued as a guest. In these uncertain times we live in, the hospitality is quite remarkable and it's a place that gives me peace of mind when it's time to book a room during the medical visits. Plus -it's a short walk to various restaurants like the bistro which I enjoy dining at before walking to the hospital. Super convenient indeed and I always get a comfortable night of sleep here. I'm also looking forward to the end results of some current renovations. I highly recommend this hotel!

I always stay at this hotel when I need to be in downtown Birmingham. It's very clean, modern, and a great location. There are special "Lysol" cleaning measures and labelled strips on the room door, tv remote and several surfaces detailing the extra measures. The room was spotless! Obviously with fewer travelers and the covid times, the breakfast is a grab and go and dinner is order and pick up with fewer choices. There are a few outside tables for dining on-site. The staff was very attentive to any needs or special requests. I encountered very few guests and actually only one on my floor so it's very quiet. Publix is a block away, several restaurants are within 2 blocks, and Railroad Park is less than a block. No fee for parking. Great beds!

I’ve been to the hotel twice on business, each time for more than 10 days. The staff remembered me and treated me very well. The hotel is extremely clean and located near some fantastic restaurants. Admittedly, I did not use housekeeping very much, and I don’t have a very big per diem expense account, so I did not use the restaurant in the hotel. I like this hotel and I would recommend it. The only thing I did not like is not under the hotel’s control. There is a large homeless population that congregates in that section of town. Being a single-traveling female, it was often uncomfortable. Also, on a Friday and Saturday night it is quite loud at the bars around the hotel, but that did not bother me. I slept right through it.

We have stayed here before and things have been just fine. However, after a drive from Fayetteville, Arkansas, I was tired and wanted to just sleep. I got ready for bed, did all my stuff and flushed. The toilet became close overflowing and knowing how many times I get up at night, I called the front desk. When I told her the problem, I got silence for a moment , and then she asked if I wanted it fixed. What? Yes, of course. So I had to get redressed and wait. A gentleman came to the door and tried to hand me a plunger. He told me here. You fix it. I said no, you are to fix it. He said no, again and I lost my temper. I told him he could either fix the toilet or move me to another room. (There was an unoccupied adjoining room). He came in and plunged a couple of times and it was fine all night. Not sure why.he expected me to fix the toilet. O am usually sorry when I lose my temper, but not this time. We usually stay here on our way back to Georgia from Arkansas but I am going to suggest to my friend, who is a platinum member, that we stay elsewhere.

My husband and I went to see Metallica in Birmingham and needed an affordable place to stay. This was the best price around and turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was super comfy and the ac/heat worked GREAT! The room was very clean and was a 1.3 mile walk to BJCC Center where the concert was. It was a great experience. The motel is a little outdated, but that didn't bother us at all. Cleanliness, comfort, and affordability are our top priorities. Thanks for a great visit.

We are Gold Radisson Rewards members and stay at CI&S locations a lot. This was our first at this location, and here are our comments: Pros - * The hotel is in a good location near I-459 and lots of restaurants. * Was Clean * We were allowed early check-in. Cons - * "Suite" is only 1 room, not divided into 2 separate rooms as the norm at other locations. * Room had 1 TV, which was at the bed. You have to lay on the bed (not sit on the couch) to watch TV. * Couch had an end table with no lamp making reading very difficult. * No gift bag at check-in (perk of Gold membership). I asked about this the following day after our check-in and was told "none are available". There was no offer to prepare one later (we were there yet another night). * No complimentary water (another perk of Gold membership). When I asked, the desk attendant took a dollar from the cash drawer, went to the vending machine, bought a single bottle of water and handed it to me. Summary: A clean, lower - middle end hotel not meeting the standards I've observed at many other Country Inn & Suites. The staff was courteous, but it is obvious there is no urgency in complying with the Radisson frequent guest perks.

We picked this hotel because I read review about the large breakfast. I have 2 toddlers and I needed to stay somewhere that they would eat well. We travelled with my parents and reserved 2 rooms. Our rooms did not look like the photos on this site. The floors were tile. I wiped them with a wet cloth and they were filthy! Around 11pm my 3 year started coughing so badly & uncontrollably that my husband left at midnight to by medicine at CVS to help suppress his cough. The room was that unclean. We all got very little sleep due to the the coughing. The next morning, I was still hopeful that breakfast would be great especially after a long night. Some of the breakfast was okay. The waffle mix was Sour. The worst part was that on a very large tv in the breakfast room they were showing a documentary of some starving, mangy dogs. It was absolutely disgusting. I’m sorry for the dogs but I do not want to watch that while my family eats. The TV was very loud and you could not ignore it. It was game day in Tuscaloosa and many of the people at breakfast had Alabama football apparel on. I kindly explained that my children were scared of the sickly dogs and asked the breakfast attendant it she would change the channel to ESPN or The Weather Channel. She snapped and told me they can only watch this local channel. This wasn’t local as we were in Alabama and this documentary was based in Texas not anyway... giving her the benefit of the doubt I went to the front desk. I explained that breakfast was fine but there was an issue with show on TV. I told the employee that the breakfast attendant explained the policy regarding the TV and I wanted to speak to their district Manager on their behalf to request that the hotel employees be granted other channel options to choose from. I was trying to help them! Mean while, the breakfast attended had followed me out to the front desk and she along with the desk worker verbally attacked me! They were so rude! They went off on me and told me to call 1-800-4Choice. They told me I needed to take my toddlers to my room and feed them in my room where I can watch the channel of my choice. I can’t carry 2 kids and 6 cups & 10 plates and that’s pretty much with breakfast with toddlers looks like! They were so rude. Said other hurtful things. I called choice to report the incident and they did not care. They said they send all the info over to the local hotel to make the employees aware that I was upset. Give me a break. They already know. How does Choice not care? This company is going down hill and does not even care. Very bizarre.... I will attach a photo. This is how I discovered the floors had not be moped and were so dirty. My son dropped a sippy cup and a tiny amount of water splashed out. I grabbed a rag to wipe the water up and it came up with this dirt.. And this was right after we checked in so it wasn’t from our feet.

I am a single, young female who needed a clean, safe place to stay for a month when I first moved to Birmingham for work. When I checked in, I was told exactly how much it would cost, and there were no hidden charges when I checked out. The room was very clean in appearance and housekeeping cleaned the room once a week, and made sure I knew what day they were coming. All the basics were provided in the room to make my stay comfortable, and the staff were friendly and available to answer any questions I had. The location is pretty easy to get to off HWY 280, and is not in a bad or noisy part of town. I never felt unsafe. I would highly recommend to anyone needing an extended temporary place to stay.

The lovely owner is in the process of ceasing operations at one location and offering only rooms at her other location. Be sure to call and get the correct address! With that being said, we enjoyed our stay very much. The owner is knowledgeable about the mansion's history and freely shares. Her collection of china sets is stupendous, and we enjoyed learning about how to judge the age of china. She let us check-in and peek at the unoccupied rooms on our own, and that made the house seem very welcoming and open. We will be back!

Went to visit our daughter who is a student at UAB. We were hesitant to travel considering the current circumstances, and the cleanliness and procedures of the hotel industry. But this hotel put my mind at ease the moment I walked in. Location was great. Although most tourist sights were closed, they were near. Check in was fast and efficient. The young girl was super nice and quickly and clearly explained all current procedures and changes in light of the Pandemic. Lobby was clean and next to elevators they had sanitizing station with alcohol wipes and formula. Lobby door was locked and could only be opened by room key or by the front desk. Room was super clean and so was the kitchen, bathroom and refrigerator. Sheets and beds were comfortable and very clean. AC was nice and cold, and our floor had washer and drier room with top of the line washers and driers (and all very clean). Because of the pandemic, hot breakfast had to be ordered and taken to your room, which was fine because it promoted social distancing and it was ready within 2-3 minutes. But there was fruit, milk, cereal, muffins, juices, breads and other items you could put in a bag and bring to your room. They also had a dinner snack from 5-7 with wine and beer included (all free). This was also excellent. And the staff handling both eating events were super helpful and friendly. All I can say is WOW !!! Was extremely happy with my stay. And Kudos to housekeeping for cleaning the room really well each day. All staff wore gloves and masks at all times. If there was anything negative, is charging $10 per day for self parking. The lot was in the back of the hotel. Although they say it is gated, and it is, anyone has access to it. The main gate entrance and exit is just an arm that goes up and down, and the back has an opening to go into hotel, but there is a street in between the opening and the hotel that is accessible to Public. Thus, so is the parking lot. But nothing happened. I just think $10 per day is not warranted. If this was New York City where parking is a premium, I would understand. But this is Birmingham. Stayed 4 nights/5 days, but could have spent a month. All in all, I would highly recommend. And when if I return to Birmingham, his where l will stay. Hint, Chinese restaurant next door is not bad. Plenty of food, but get their special fried rice.

The hotel is very attractive, the thoroughly covered arrival area with valet parking is extremely convenient. The lobby is pleasant with good service. The rooms.........ours had two large artworks 3' x 6' but only two thin drawers for clothes and a small (3 ft.) closet and lots of empty wall space There was a functional work area, and multiple USB charging outlets and a safe large enough for a full-sized laptop (or some of the clothes that won't fit in the drawers). The night tables were three shelves, two of which were covered with magazines. The king bed was comfy as were the sheets and pillows. The bathroom was large enough to dance a rhumba but there was only a single sink and the only non-countertop storage was two small drawers and a metal grid shelf just off the floor. The commode was in a closet, which I find inconvenient for visits during the dark hours. The shower was one of the best in any hotel; room, water pressure and large, plush towels. The bar and restaurant were good and reasonably priced for a high end hotel although getting there from the sleeping room, on the same floor, almost required a guide.

We actually stayed at this property for a couple months, in the vain hope that our experience would improve. It didn't so we moved to another hotel a few blocks away. We've stayed in hotels all around the world, including third world and developing nations, and I must say that this Extended Stay property would fit right in toward the bottom of the list of bad hotels. The list of issues is lengthy, but the nutshell version is this: - Trash strewn about the premises - The room and public areas were not well-maintained; obviously cleanliness and functionality are not priorities - We had to practically beg for our room to be cleaned; the room was never thoroughly cleaned in our entire three month stay - On the three times during that three-month period when somebody finally came to the room to clean, we had to walk them through the things we expected while they continually asked "anything else?" after each step; in hotels with staffs that care, they simply do their jobs--not so at the Inverness Extended Stay - The stove and oven were filthy when we moved in and despite asking the staff to clean them, the only cleaning they got was from our own efforts - It was obvious that the staff was using the COVID debacle as an excuse to avoid working because they never changed linens, provided even a grab-and-go breakfast, dumped trash, provided toiletries, or anything else, and when they did do any of those things they first offered some COVID-related excuse as to why they couldn't do whatever it was that we asked Not only do I not recommend this location of Extended Stay America, but they've ruined my taste for the brand everywhere. I cannot and will not trust a brand that does not do a better job policing its own properties. If they don't care about their corporate name, then I cannot care for them.

This property should probably shut down for a while to get its affairs in order. The room I had was downright DIRTY, and even after reporting it to one of the front desk members, and asking that a manager contact me about the state of the room, nobody did. The same person I reported the room to and asked to have a manager call me checked me out, and when I asked why, the person shrugged and said "I told 'em!!" Great. Thanks. I invite you to view the pictures I've attached to this review to see for yourself. Issues include, but are not limited to: - Dirty, crusty carpet at various points in the room - Yellow-ish crusty stain on bedspread (YUCK), I never ate anything on the bed, so goes to show you that they don't change them out - Leakage/spillage in minifridge area - DISGUSTING trash-filled jacuzzi in the pool area: cordoned off by yellow tape, and full of gross water and candy wrappers and fast food bags - Dead flies in and sticky substance in the windowsill - Greasy children's handprints all over the wallpaper - One of the drawers under the TV wouldn't stay shut, even with nothing in it - Dust CRUSTED on air intake louvers - White flakes on the carpet that stayed the same even after multiple servicings of the room. Shows they didn't even bother to vacuum - Warped carpet in the hallway - They only serviced the room every three days, but obviously one needs trash taken out more than that. Trashcans by elevator stayed full with SAME OBJECTS in it for more than 24hrs They offer a coffee station downstairs, but had zero accomodation for tea drinkers. I asked if they had a kettle for the room I could borrow, and the front desk agent said "Kettle?!!?" like they had never heard of such a thing. I drink Tea, as do many other nationalities. To not have any solution for tea drinkers as a purported international standard brand, and at one of the nicest hotels in the city seemed baffling. They only service the rooms "every 3 days," but they clearly did not change out the bed linen or vacuum the room even on the days they allegedly clean the room. Seems they just threw some additional towels in the bathroom and made the bed. They didn't even empty the trash cans, I had to leave those in the hallway (full) to have them emptied. On the second day, I asked the attendant on my floor for some room spray so I can at least freshen up the room, she gave a cursory look at her cart and said "It seem I don't got none on here" and went back to cleaning the room she was in. I left the property and came back over 4 hours later. She was still working on my floor and asked her again for the room spray. She still didn't have any. So, NONE of the rooms on that floor got sprayed at all that day!?!? She was also listening to some hardcore rap on her phone that had n-words and f-bombs flying. I had to go downstairs to the front desk to ask for the spray, which they then told me the attendants have on their carts. Since you only get "service" every fe

Staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier and COVID prevention practices were in place. Our room had no microwave. We had two cups for cold drinks and two cups for coffee. We checked in for a three night stay and were told there would be no cleaning services unless we requested and we should put garbage and used linens outside the door. That was fine; however, for two people and a 3 night stay, we had 2 towels, 2 bath cloths and 2 hand towels. We were advised we would need to contact the front desk for more towels. We did not have breakfast since we were told upon arrival it was $15.99 per person. Neither of us eat a big breakfast and definitely would not pay that amount for a muffin, piece of fruit and coffee. Probably our last stay here.

My cross country and bicycle journey lead me here for a overnight stop! The hotel is in a great locaton near many stores and food, all withibn walking distance! The lobby is the normal vibe that most Aloft hotels are known for. As was my clean and very comfortable room. This was a true rest stop, so I didnt really do much anything else on property other than use the business center. I slept perfect with no issues and was on my way pedaling in the morning. for sure would stay here again. TheBigRideforEB.com

We were traveling coming in late at 11:45 pm and wanted to make it to the east side of Birmingham. What a pleasant surprise to find this property. I spoke with April at the desk. She was incredibly helpful & kind. Mr. Joe checked us in when we arrived quickly & easily. He was such a gentleman. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable with multiple pillows of different firmness to choose from. Hot breakfast was terrific with sausage, bacon, two kinds of yummy omelets, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, etc. We checked out and Michelle was so sweet to make sure we were happy and asked if she could help us with anything else and how was our stay. The location was convenient close to 20 freeway but on the hill with no road noise. Luggage carts were ready & available at the door. The prices were much better than in central Birmingham. Great location if you want to head east ahead of city traffic in the morning. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I will not stay at the Wildwood (State Farm Parkway) location again or recommend it to people who, like me, have jobs in the Birmingham/Homewood area and need a place to stay Monday-Thursday because their homes are too far away for a daily commute. The only good thing about the location is the office staff, who were very friendly! The exterior of property is dark and feels old and unsafe, with people hanging out in the parking lot, working on cars (every single night...) It just feels sketchy. Unloading/loading luggage from my car, was very inconvenient, since there isn't an elevator - stairs are the only way to get to the 2nd floor from the lobby/office and there are no luggage carts, which would have been helpful since I had several clothes bags/a few groceries and work related items...you know, enough stuff for an EXTENDED stay. I felt like a pack-mule! The room itself smelled stale and musty; the carpet was disgustingly dirty (word of advice, if you spill a bottle of water, just let it dry on its own because you do not want to witness what a white towel will soak up - See above reference to rubber soled slippers); the mattress sagged on the sides and had a big hump in the middle, and the pillows stank. Febreze helped with the smell but not the uneasy feeling I had about the lingering source of the odor - glad I packed my own pillow. The kitchen appliances and TV are outdated. The oven settings were no longer visible so you have no idea what temperature it is set on...and the fact that any and all kitchen items must be requested from the office, including a coffee maker which is standard in all other hotel rooms, is very inconvenient. The microwave worked, so I guess that's the silver lining. Thank goodness for my phone's hot spot, a laptop and Netflix/Amazon Prime accounts, because the (Dish) satellite-cable was always searching for a signal and the free WiFi kept disconnecting. The bathroom is small and does not have counter space for toiletries/make-up and, like the rest of the room, did not seem clean. Oh, and keep in mind that you will need to stand on a chair or the bed in order to see how you look before you leave the room....no full length mirror. Grab-and-go breakfast....? The baskets of pre-packaged muffins and granola bars were not stocked daily and were empty on at least one occasion. Considering everything else, missing out on the complimentary breakfast was no big deal! Since my first and only experience at Extended Stay America Wildwood, two weeks ago, I have been staying at the Country Inn and Suites by Radisson, which is cleaner, comparably priced and located in the same general area....and they have a real, hot breakfast!!

I stayed here for business purposes. The location is a little bit out dated once you leave the lobby area. The pool is nice and refreshing. However the rooms need further updates. There are no microwaves in the rooms which require you to walk outside and down to the lobby area to warm up your leftover/meals. The breakfast needs fresh fruit and a little more variety as I have seen at other locations. Last point I want to make is that as a Diamond member I would expect late and early check in/out privileges. I was told by Management that this is not a right but a privilege. Duh I have paid for this "privilege" with all my travels, hence diamond status. The housekeeping staff was not happy that was stayed later for check out.

You never know who's writing a review... and more importantly, who's reading it. Check-in +++++ Great customer service. Her name was Tia, because she was great! First, they're undergoing remodeling, so I get it. Things look weird. But... it's hot in the lobby. It's hot in the hallway. It's hot in the elevator. Cool outside, but hot every inside. Except my room. They welcomed me with the thermostat set on 65. Perfect! Really!! Perfect!!! I'll warm up a room and be happy about it. I don't want to cool down a room when it's cool outside and hot EVERYwhere else. Second, Breakfast: I know, it's covid. Blame it. But I don't think they are really going out of their way to be hospitable with this breakfast thing they have going. So... people are in a room and they are trying to come up with brilliant ideas about how to keep their Hilton Honors patrons happy, content, and loyal. So (and I will find out tomorrow morning here in Concord, North Carolina), our happiness is "fulfilled" with your choice of: Coffee Chocolate Chip Muffin Yogurt the end...that's it... I asked the morning (or probably the nighttime desk clerk) if they had any milk. He replied "MILK!?" No. Was that an unreasonable request? We used to have hot food, juice, milk, pastries, keep it going... And now we get three things? For the same rate? With less employees working? Covid doesn't stop little milk cartons. Doesn't stop juice. Doesn't stop an assortment of pastries to choose from. However, it does allow a BRAND to save money and treat their loyal patrons like they are staying a lesser establishment. Is it about a bottom line? GAWD, I hope not. I've been a loyal Hilton patron for years as has everyone from my company, but this is less than standard. I want to get back to the beginning... with Tia. AWESOME (and I know you won't remember me because I was wearing a face mask (not weird, remember? Covid). I think you all should ask Tia what else you should ( not could) do during this "season" to keep us all happy... I'm pretty sure she can include a 25 cent half pint of milk and juice to allow us to leave feeling a LITTLE better about our stay.

Tonya, the front desk manager, is amazing! Great room and amazing service! Traveled all day and was greated to complimentary water. The room was clean and comfortable and best of all the hotel shuttle took me to my meeting even though it was outside of their service area. Thank you for making business travel easier.

The daily breakfast was decent. I loved the fact that I had a microwave in my room. I’m not happy that a bottle of water in the vending machine was $2, though!

I booked last minute given the price and location. The lobby and hallways made me a bit nervous, but the room was adequate and clean. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it was acceptable.
