I had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Chateau Monfort for business this month. I had researched several hotels in Milano, however, the reviews on Chateau Monfort are what swayed me to give the property a try. I now am inspired to write my own review and share my incredibly positive experience as it was truly exceptional! The hotel itself is beautiful and unique, the food is just delicious, the location is key and the decor is both fanciful and charming. All of that is really more than enough to stay - however - what really tips this hotel over the top is its outstanding staff. The service at Chateau Monfort is unparalleled! The staff us simply amazing at anticipating its guests needed. Having come from the service industry, I watched them in action - each and every one of them, always smiling, very prompt to assist, personable, engaging, professional , generous and just a true pleasure. They made my week-long trip feel as though I was right at home which I truly appreciated! I will now always make Chateau Monfort my home-away-from-home when traveling to Milano! Thank you for the beautiful hospitality!

Stayed here for two nights, after reading the reviews I was a bit hesitant however on arrival we were greeted by friendly staff. The room is basic but it is advertised as I two star so that is to be expected. The free breakfast was a nice surprise, just toast, croissants and yoghurts mainly but nothing to complain about. The main thing was the room was clean and the surrounding area was pleasant and very central. I would stay again.

Location is amazing & the building / set-up is truly wonderful. But there is definitely a lot of room for improvement. Room: overall, pleasant but very small; no coffee machine, no tea or coffee available, no slippers, no bathrobe, no laundry bag offered - should be the minimum for an hotel of this league; bed is quite a good size but could be more comfortable; great pillows. Bathroom: on the small side but decent; basic amenities; toiletries offered are from Mazzolari; no dental kit offered; room light very difficult to control; some details need an urgent fix (see below picture) & water in the sink not flowing properly. Reception: friendly but completely lost when I checked-in & asked to pay for the room rate using a voucher they had issued themselves some months before; my room rate included a welcome drink and, due to my IHG status, I was supposed to get an additional drink but I received only one. Breakfast; good, items quality high but variety should be improved. Not sure I would stay again. I stayed at several Indigo around the world but, so far, this has been the worst. Just to give a comparison, Indigo Krakow, Warsaw or Hong Kong are doing much better.

When I was choosing hotel in Milan, there was not a big choice, especially choice of affordable hotels. Luckily, Dover caught my eye and we stayed here. Let’s begin with pluses: - location is quite nice: easy to get to the hotel from railway station (direct train #9, you can buy ticket at the souvenir shop) and 10-15 mins walk to the center; - wi-fi free and fast; - room was really nice - we had luck to have a room with tiny balcony with the view on Italian courtyard (room #14). Also, room had nice new furniture and although the bathroom was small it was very tidy; - rooms are equipped with safe boxes and small fridges. As a neutral point I’d count breakfast - not big range of food (expected). However, the coffee was really nice as well as croissants. Also, I did not want to prepay the amount by card so we paid the whole payment with cash and the administration did not have any objections about this, which is a good service.

Construction site next wall They were drilling and hammering from 10am to 4pm Impossible to rest The administration did try to avoid our complaints by not showing themselves The reception man said he will try to communicate with the construction site but I don’t think that he could do something. They should relocate us in another hotel or at least the guesthouse owner should participate with an apology Attention to next visitors The works have just started

Even though I was cautious when booking because I don’t normally go for 3star but the hotel exceeded my expectations. It was very centrally located within 20 minutes walking you can go to the main train station and to the Duomo square. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms, even though they are a bit small they have enough storage space, a small fridge and the bathroom was very modern and clean. It also had some necessities. I would definitely recommend you stay at this hotel and the price was very good for Milan!

Please avoid this place AT ANY COST! I had booked two separate nights with Expedia and then I canceled only one night as we were not going to stay in Milan Saturday to Sunday. I am a gold member and stayed at many properties around the world. I was charged the room price directly with Expedia and it was all confirmed. We got to the property and the person who checked us in took a copy of the passports and then showed us to our room. The room was not ready and the bed for the kids was not made. In the bathroom I had discovered toiletries that were half full. The temperature was not measured upon arrival and I did not feel right staying in this room. The front desk person then said there was a problem with our room as we had cancelled and I showed him the reservation with Expedia and that it shows all was good. He then showed us to another smaller room which we also not ready. I then spent 20’ speaking on his own cell phone with a certain Mariana who said that she was informed that the manager did not see the reservation and that they did not work with Expedia since they had reopened. I suggested they speak with Expedia as all was good on my end.The beds were not really comfortable, nor were the pillows. The next day we were told we had to pay again and I said I already had with Expedia. I said it’s unacceptable and then spent one hour calling Expedia who confirmed all was good. Below par sanitation, horrible service and the night before a car was broken into outside the hotel and although I signaled this to the front desk there was no effort to call the police. A joke of a hotel and not worth the luxury title ! Deceitful and disappointing during a time when most hotels try their hardest to make their guests’ stay safe and enjoyable. This is NOT one of them.

I stayed here for a night and payed about 250€. I’m so embarrassed that I paid that much for such a miserable experience. The staff was fine and there is someone here all night. But it was not obvious when booking that there was only a communal bathroom. The bathroom is very clean, but doesn’t even have hand soap. They give you a towel, toothbrush, and slippers. The room itself is fine. Nothing special but not terrible. The give each gust one pillow, so it wasn’t the most comfortable sleep. There was also a lot of noise outside so it was hard to stay asleep without getting woken up every two hours. Very disappointed in the whole experience.

We found this hotel via Booking.com and checked the rating here on tripadvisor. Everything looked great and we had high expectations. We did receive a total of 5! messages via booking.com from the hotel with information regarding the openingtimes, check-in procedure etc. This is where my first concern starts: We highly appreciate a sportingfacility in the hotel and booking this place because it was one of the few which offers this. Actually this was closed for renovations and made public via a little sign on the check-in desk. 5! messages via booking.com but not informating me of this? Than the second part: the check-in. It was monotone and did not show Italian hospitality. We where check-in into a dirty room and when we went back to the check-in desk this monotone "service" was exactly the same. Without any form of appology we did receive the room keys of the new room. This one was nice and clean. Spacious and did meet our expactations. The breakfast staff was wunderfull. Very friendly, polity and made up the bad start we had at the check-in desk. The ending was unfortunatly not that great again. We where asked 3 times to leave a review on booking.com / tripadvisor because "they needed it very bad" after Covid. Here you are... If you do not mind this kind of service at check-in and only come for the room and or breakfast? Than this is the place for you.

We arrived at Hotel Ideale after a long hot walk from the train station. Loredana welcomed us, gave us cold water (much needed and appreciated) shared that our room would be available in an hour (2 hours before normal check-in time!), stored our bags in a nook in the tiny lobby adjacent to the front desk and sent us to an affordable family-run restaurant named Amo Pizza around the corner from the hotel. After eating Amo's tasty pizza and partaking in a glass of wine, we returned to the hotel cooled off and ready for check-in. The room was an average sized hotel room (for a European boutique hotel) consisting of a queen sized bed, a closet with several hangers, shelves to fit any foldable items, one luggage rack and long and narrow bathroom with a pedestal sink, a toilet and a shower. What the room did not have was air conditioning. We were a bit confused as Expedia listed AC as one of the room's amenities but didn't complain or seek any explanation at the time as the room had a fan and was already a pleasant temperature. Pro-Tip: Book your room directly with the hotel. Apparently, because Expedia charges the hotel a fee per booking, those cheap rooms you see on the site are in fact the ones that do not have AC. (We booked the least expensive option as we were only staying in Milan for one night) Loredana told us that booking directly with the hotel will be comparable in price and will ensure you get AC on those hot Summer days. Loredana also recommended an area by the Naviglio Grande which was filled with restaurants, vendors, and a nice mix of locals and tourists. While I forget the name of the area it was a lovely scene and a great place to have some lunch and do some people watching. My husband has visited Milan many times and had never heard of this place. It was a great way to experience something new in Milan together. (Thanks Loredana!) Overall, our stay at Hotel Ideale was very pleasant!

The environment is okay, the price of a 4-star hotel is not expensive at 400 per night. The location is in the big suburbs. It takes 15 minutes to walk off public transportation and 30 minutes to the city center by subway. It is not convenient to go anywhere. It is cheap Good choice. There are not many facilities in the gym. Wearing slippers in the wet bathroom is easy to slip. What I want to say is the attitude of the front desk when I check out. My English is very poor. I didn’t understand the tax. I thought it was going to the airport or the city of the train station. It was 30 Euros for two people. I said it 3.4 times. I was very impatient. Then I didn’t understand and I took the one at the front desk. I knew what she meant by looking at the sign. Why didn’t I just take it out when I didn’t understand it the first time? Anyway, choose the city center next time.

We booked this apartment last minute. And if you didn’t read that you can only check in between 3-8, that’s no ones fault but your own! The emails back and forth were prompt and friendly. We checked in separately as two halves of our family- and it was without a hitch. Friendly. The apartment is HUGE! It is stylishly decorated- and spotless. Bonus of a washing machine and a dishwasher. Rooms and bathroom enormous. We have been in a caravan for a few days at LakeGarda, so we brought all our washing and did that! Rules about quiet are 10pm-7am are just courtesy- why would that be an issue? It’s a European apartment block- with families. I can hear people upstairs but no hassle. Bathroom had stacks of fluffy towels and little toiletries. We are only here for one night- but I will sleep well! Bed and furnishings are lovely. Things cost the same here as a in a youth hostel- I know what I would rather do! Large fridge and feeezer- well equipped kitchen and Carrefour about 5 mins walk away. If you can read and you want tonnes of space- get involved!

We were picked up directly from the airport to the hotel at about 8 pm. The door was very small. The front desk was very enthusiastic after entering. The hotel felt that the equipment was very old. That machine was broken ... and then I kept repairing the machine until it took me 30 minutes! Because I wasn't sure if the card could be used, I asked a little brother to accompany me, and said that if it wasn't available, let the little brother come down and change it for me. Sure enough, I couldn't open it. This card is a big bug. I returned to the hotel late the next night. This card has been unable to open the door. We live on the 3rd floor. Go down and get the magnetic card strip to open the door again. No, go downstairs, just back and forth 4 times! The last time I asked her to accompany me directly! If not, I won't go on! It's okay to drive! Breakfast at this hotel is OK Eggs Bacon, Fruit Bread! Both yogurt! The fruit is the same for three days! There are only two coffee machines, and one is always broken! As many people arrive, the coffee machine lined up! The place to eat breakfast is a bit small. It is crowded after 8:30, and many people have nowhere to sit! My mother and I rushed to eat to give up seats! Very close to the subway purple line, 6-8 minutes walk away! There are also some pizza shops and small supermarkets opened by individuals, and there are also pharmacies opposite! The hotel room is small, the beds are small and too soft, but the air conditioning is nice and warm! We arrived at the end of November, it was raining, it was cold, and the hot water was good! This hotel is very poorly soundproofed. My mother and I were able to sleep well, even if the sound of the corridor was very loud in the middle of the night!

Stayed for three nights while visiting Milan. The location is a bit out of the way (half an hour from city centre) but certainly walkable. The staff were helpful and checked us in late at night. Once we got the air con system working, the heat in the room was not an issue. However, the window had a shutter over it that we could not pull up, so could feel a tad stuffy at times.

I must say that I was quite worry since I read some unfavourable comments before checking in. Thanks God. Everything is fantastic! 1. Location - It is near to Linate Airport as clearly highlighted in the hotel name though we didn"t hear any noise from aeroplanes. We heard some car noise if we open the window since it is located next to the highway. 2. Check-in & Check-Out - Fast ! 3. Room - We stayed at 1st floor. The hotel is renovated. - It is crystal clean. Well done to the housekeeping team. 4. WiFi - It is free throughout the hotel. 5. Parking - There are around 15-20 free carpark space in front of the hotel. Otherwise, it charges €12/night. 6. Breakfast - Generous breakfast. - My family and I enjoyed the breakfast very much. 7. Public Transport - The parking charges in Milan City is very high. - There are Tram (Number 27) and Bus services near to hotel which is 5 minutes walk. - We bought day pass (valid for 24 hours) in front of the Tram station which is a newstand. It costs €7. For Children, it is FREE of CHARGE. - For Single journey, it costs €2 already. So, it makes sense to buy a day pass. - The final stop of Tram Number 27 is "Duomo". 8. Restaurant - Limited food choice at the restaurant at hotel. - There are some restaurant and pizza shops nearby. The price is reasonable!

After a long drive we finally arrived, eager to get some food as the hotel website has a great menu and talks about the lavish views we head up to the 6th floor. The restaurant was nearly empty, fine it was 9pm and we were happy they could accommodate a table for 6. However the first surprise was that half the items on the menu were no longer possible. also to our surprise no coca cola zero, nor any mozzarella, No mozzarella in Milan? The portions were small so we asked for more items, but only to be greeted by sorry not available. So we asked to pay and left. In the morning we craved a good Italian coffee, but instead were greeted with a large machine producing dirty water, and a surprise Juice machine that gave sugar water. This was certainly not what was expected of a 4*. I have to wonder if they are preparing to shut the hotel down, Otherwise I do not understand.

Milan app rental At the airport we booked transportation with Milan Appartment Rental because we arrived at night and we were not allowed to do otherwise. Upon arriving at the airport there was no one at the exit. We were overwhelmed and could not contact anyone. He arrived half an hour later. He didn't give us a taxi bill that cost € 150. For 6 people only 3 sachets of gel and 1 shampoo for 5 nights, they said they were only for the first day, still we are 6, not 4. Scarce and poorly organized. A set of sheets did not correspond to the size of the bed, as it was very late we slept as we could and the next day we said it and they gave us the top sheet of the correct size. The freezer was full of frost, ice. Used and old scrub sponge. Some dishes had traces of food, in the dishwasher there was a dirty pot, the pan was disgusting, the kitchen drawers with many traces of bread from the toaster, which by the way, was very dirty. The washing machine, which we did not use, had stagnant water and traces of floating mold, the filthy door rubbers and the shower and kitchen joints were very damaged and dirty. The quilts, which luckily we do not need, had yellowish spots, like pee. The painting of the walls badly, although it is seen that they have ever painted, yes, the cut is seen in the middle of the wall to save painting from the half up and the ceiling. Although the rules say that they leave a dishwasher tablet, it is not so, I imagine that so you do not use it and do not spend light. We had to take out the trash bags before we left. Rules of use of electricity: € 1 / hour of air conditioning, iron, washing machine ... I think it is abusive. We do not use anything. The deposit, which is charged by card, is not returned on departure, but by bank and they say it can take up to 3 weeks !!! They could ask for it in cash and return it when leaving the accommodation. You leave without knowing if they will return you or not. They told us to take pictures when we left, and also the electricity meter. I find abusive rules. Of course, we took pictures of all this. Booking should return the money.

We came late at night to think that it was a hotel which it’s not so this was false information beforehand as it is right outside a petrol station and car wash however the room is absolutely lovely and I like how they name them after cities. It is quite far from the main centre so I would advise to book a taxi in advance as it’s extremely pricey but the bus stop isn’t too far and it is for free. There isn’t much for breakfast but they have a lovely coffee machine. If it’s a place where you would like to rest and get an early night then I definitely wouldn’t stay here due to the walls being thin and there is a club down the road which kept us awake most till early hours of the morning. The staff are friendly but also quite a lot of them I found them not at the front desk in times where we needed them and the rooms are nice but if I were to come back to Milan I would stay elsewhere.

We stayed for two nights as a city trip and were very positively surprised. We had a beautiful junior suite with plenty of space including very spacious roof terrace where we could enjoy the sun and relax a bit, something you rarely get in city hotels. General amenities are great with free Nespresso (and cookies), water, gym etc in the public areas. Reception was super friendly and helpful, thank you Francesco!! It’s nicely located about 5min by foot from central station and not far from the starting point of the main shopping street (Corso Buenos Aires) but be aware that it is the direction slightly away from the sightseeing city center (ie Duomo, castle) which takes ca 45min by foot (but you can obviously use metro or tram). Overall a great place to stay with fantastic people and a relaxed atmosphere!

The location was near the station and there were many trains so there was no problem getting out into town. The hotel faces a residential area, and it seems like even a single girl is not as dangerous. The appearance was cute and I was excited to stay in Europe. The room was retro and cute as shown in the photo. There are no slippers and bathrobes, and you need to bring a toothbrush. The unfortunate point was that I prepared coffee and tea so that I could boil the water myself and drink it, but the pot was broken and I couldn't use it. When I asked the front desk if I could replace my cold body with warmth, I asked him to ask him to raise something he had come to see. I was told that I would give hot water when I wanted to drink, but I was told to come down to get it and decided that it was troublesome. After that, there was often a timing where Wi-Fi was difficult to enter when it was a room.

OK, so my standards are not high being a backpacker but 1) I found the staff very helpful and comforting after I arrived after having had some bad news. 2) The room was small, but well laid out and the twin bed was almost a double in size. 3) My room was on the top floor at the back of the hotel and had double glazed windows, so apart from some elevator noise, it was very relaxing ! 4) Air Con was appreciated. Every time I’m in Milan I like to explore up to 3 different hotels. 1. My first night I got in late (single female traveler) and I waited for about 2-3 minutes at midnight outside hotel bc lobby was unattended (bunch of seedy types out in the square near McDonalds) and after ringing a few times finally came down with a phone in his ear and let’s me in. He’s chatting with a friend and gossiping and said “I have to call you back”... he then checked me in and then went back to calling his friend back. Meanwhile there is 4 steps to the elevator and I have 2 heavy-*ss suitcases as I was traveling in Europe for a month for work and the guy ignores me as I try to Carry it to the elevator. 2. Room is spacious and has a great amenity kit, but it took forever for my room to cool. 3. I was forced to pay for breakfast along with my hotel but I never woke up in time for breakfast and wish this was a separate option. 4. Not sure if any of their bathrooms have bath tubs so if you want a tub you need to call in advance. 5. The next morning the female front desk worker was nice and lovely and so was the guy working the following night (different from the first guy). 6 HOWEVER... the following morning on second night there was another different front desk guy. And he was very cold and working on his computer. I asked if he could help with my 2 large suitcases. And he says “just a second” and he is sighing really loud so I can hear he is disgruntled and upset I asked for his help. (hello dude. Are you getting paid to be rude to guests?) then finally I go “um I’m sorry but are you not going to help me?” And he yells “just a moment!” And he types furiously on his keyboard hoping I will just take the bags down myself. Finally I said “I will just wait here til you help” and then he got up and he moved one of my suitcases while I moved the other and marched back to his desk. 7. Then I asked if I was checked out and he said yes. And then I go “oh but I should pay the city tax” and he said “oh yes” so I gave him my credit card. He looked at it with anger grabbed a random plaque that said “city taxes need to be paid in cash” (btw that is untrue... this is the 8th hotel in Italy and 4th in Milan I stayed in the past year and every hotel is allowed to accept tax on credit card) anyway he literally flung it to my face and yelled at me “you can’t read?” And I explained to him “yesterday I paid it in credit card and the woman was very to me” and he yelled “I don’t care about any woman and what she did wrong. She was wrong!” And I tried to produce the receipt and he basically told me that he didn’t want to see it and that I need to produce cash or else. I was so scared this man was going to attack me. I quickly hurried out

Brera
Perfect location for this b&b which offers high specs, clean and quiet rooms (which is not often the case in the city centre) in a very nice building. The room provides you with all the comforts: small fridge, AC, tv, hair dryer, safe, medium size wardrobe, kettle and coffe machine. The b&b is located in a cool area with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The popular Duomo is just 10 minutes away. Perfect for a weekend in Milan. The staff was also very attentive. In terms of money, it is quite expensive but it is definitely worth it considering Milan prices. I’ll definitely be back!

Milan City Centre
As in many other reviews made regarding Milanese hotels: I confess, although Londoner since '96, I am originally from Milan and I love testing a different Milanese hotel each time I go back 'home'. This time it was for Christmas and I simply love the Brera district, possibly the best part of Milan. Central and full of character. Aristocratic, but also discreet, full of charme and elegance. Via Clerici is a secluded (possibly even too much) narrow street in the Brera Area. Piazza Duomo is less than 5 min away (walking). Via Montenapoleone is 7 min away. Clerici Boutique Hotel is a very small hotel (more a BnB) in Via Clerici narrowest point. Location is nearly 5/5. Shame that from the window of my executive room I could easily read the documents on the desk of the office facing the hotel! Surely less than 4/5 m from me. More than a hotel it looks like a small BnB with some rooms. The look is apparently warm and cosy, but if you look carefully it has been refurbished recently, but with little money invested. Paintings are just pictures of canvas. Furniture is pretty much basic with a few touches of design. Rooms are of a good size, but too dark and there is not enough light around (not from the window and not from the lights). The staff is very polite even if services provided are very very basic. There is no room service and no concierge. Cleaning is very good. Breakfast is very basic too and I am afraid not exceedingly fresh... the breakfast rooms looks more like a small temporary cafeteria from a very old hotel. A bit disappointing. Overall... it was a good (average good) experience, but the price does not reflect what you would expect.

Milan Stazione Centrale
We chose this primarily because of its close proximity to Milano Centrale train station, since we had an early morning departure. It's a fine, reasonably priced option--a bit dated, but charming in a "period piece" sort of way. The staff was accommodating, if not particularly warm in their welcome (aside from the bartender, who was quite affable). The room was comfortably large, with a good sized bath and closet; drawbacks were a hard bed and a safe that we couldn't get unlocked. The breakfast choices were good--breads, hard-boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, coffees and teas. The neighborhood is primarily business, so if you're touring Milan this might not be for you. But for closeness to trains that are part of the national/international network (and the Malpensa Express to MXP) this is a very good choice.

I happily recommend Antica Locanda Leonardo for couples and single travelers. It is ideally located next to Santa Maria Delle Grazie (a few yards from the site of Leonardo’s Last Supper, which requires advanced tickets), a stop for the Number 16 tram that goes to the Duomo and Milan’s main shopping area, and a ten-minute walk to Cadorna train station and the Malpensa Express to the airport. It’s rooms are clean and I found that mine, facing into the courtyard, was extremely quiet. The staff members at the Locanda are cordial, efficient, and entirely comfortable and fluent in English. The bathroom I had was large and nicely stocked with toiletries and towels; it and the main room were spotless and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good and staying for five days I appreciated how it included a reasonable change of offerings. Just about 100 yards from the entrance is one of the best cafes in the city, both for snacks and lunch. All in all, after 20+ years of travel to Milan I think The Antica Locanda is a jewel and a fabulous value!

The room was spotless, the owner and staff were very friendly and beyond accommodating. They will do anything to exceed guest expectations and requirements to make sure they have a great time. The breakfast was lovely and felt like a family meal - incredible atmosphere. Everything was home cooked and home made, which made you feel more visiting like family yet it was better and more genuine service then a 5* hotel. They even provided me with a take away lunch for the day which was also amazing. Food is typical of a visit to Italy, if you’re looking for an English style bed and breakfast you won’t find it here but if you’re looking for a friendly and embracing, authentic Italian experience this is it. Feels like you’re visiting some friends more then anything else. Location is close to the centre and the famous Milan shopping area, close to subway stations and half an hour walk from the centre of town and cathedral. They provide bottled mineral water in the room. It’s such a unique building and space making it a very refreshing cultural experience and an authentic side of Italy. I would advise to book with them directly as then there is no one to take a commission, they honestly deserve everything for the service they provide. Their customer base all seem very friendly too and it’s clear they try their best and take pride in helping people have the best holiday experience.
