Having a great stay @Hotel Richelieu. The location is perfect! Everything you might want is within a 10 min. walk: trainstation, beach, shopping area, market and supermarkets, café's and restaurants. The hotel is charming and French. The staff is more than welcoming and friendly. Always ready to help or to offer advise, available for a friendly chat (in several languages). The rooms might be a bit small, but keep the 2-star rating in mind. The room has almost everything you need, including airconditioning. Keep in mind, this is not one of those big and anonymous hotel chain hotels. The cleanliness is ok and the rooms are quite quiet, especially at the back of the hotel. (You might hear guests coming in at night or going for breakfast in the morning.) The breakfast is continental with a French twist. I definitely recommend staying here and will be back if I come to Menton again.

Primarily rude and inconsiderate manager (explained at the end, as it is long). Also, there was a sequence of things going wrong: 1. When I arrived, remote for air-conditioning wasn't working (but it was fixed later); 2. The next day air-conditioning started dripping; 3. View of the courtyard is actually view of the wall; 4. Internet in room 16 doesn't work - WiFi signal is too weak and breaks of after 30 seconds and mobile data is unavailable (on the last day I found out that you can get a portable router to solve it, but by then it was late); 5. In the evening, doors of the corridor were twice blocked by luggage cart; 6. On the 3rd evening only 1 lift functioned; 7. Bad quality toilet paper; 8. Tasteless scrambled eggs, 9. Last evening I wanted to have tapas st the bar for supper, but they were out of bread. Manager issue: When I arrived, I asked that I would need help applying sunscreen to my upper back, as I cannot do it myself due to the dislocated shoulder. Initially I was told ok, but when I asked for this help before going to the beach, I was told no, as manager does not allow it, due to corona. I asked why, as there is no risk if we both wear the masks and they apply it with the vinyl gloves, like they did in the other hotel. He just said no, with additional rude comments that I can ask a physiotherapist to apply it for me (which I find rude and abusive in these circumstances) or that I can ask someone on the beach to help (which is not an option now - if I took the bag with gloves there, they would get damaged from the sun, and people there have no soap and water to wash hands afterwards, like in the hotel). Good things: Extra effort to provide clean and safe environment in the corona epidemic period. Good room, kind receptionists, super-kind and service-minded trainees (I hope they get good permanent positions, because they deserve them). Good breakfast selection. When I was checking out they apologised for the problems and gave a little discount because of it, which was kind.

Stayed here for 3 nights to enjoy the annual Lemonfest for the first time and can't fault this hotel at all, everywhere is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is continental with a good choice and a great fresh orange juice machine. Free coffee machine in reception whenever you need it. Location is great , easy walk to shops, resturants and seafront and harbour. Only 1 small gripe there is no lounge area with comfy chairs, hence 4 stars not 5.

I fear that this hotel has seen better days. it was reasonably clean but we arrived tired with an expectation of a balcony and a sea view. However, after our long drive we didn't realise that this luxury wasn't behind the tired curtains until we returned from a walk along the seashore. We had hoped to sit and enjoy the sunset on our balcony only to discover a most unprepossessing view of houses and the mountains behind. Having already unpacked our stuff when we arrived we decided not to say anything, but it seems odd that they either hadn't got this part of our reservation or had chosen to ignore it? Breakfast was extra - which is not unusual in France- but I think that had we been staying for a second night we would have joined other residents and taken a cheaper breakfast in a seafront cafe! It is a shame, it this hotel is in a great location - it just needs a refurb of the facilities and its booking system!

We booked directly via the hotel website. We arrived a bit early and of course I had forgotten to mention that, so I room was not available at that time. We got upgraded to a larger room on the third floor facing the mountains which I recommend since it is not with the sun on the room all day. The room was of great quality and the cleaning every day was great too. There are no noice from the road as the windows are highly noice cancelling. We were on the half board which was great. We travel often and have experience the traditional terrible breakfast on most restaurants, but here there were no sloppy buffet, but GREAT GREAT BREAKFAST! They serve fresh bread, croissant and chocholat pains. Then you have the option to choose different eggs and sweets. They actually know how to cook a perfect srambled eggs! Very rare gift on general hotels. We had our 1 year old kid with us. The area might not be ideal for small kids as the garden faces the large road so we had to keep an eye on him constantly. The staff are very kind towards kids so it was no problem at all. The dinner was awesome - we were on the half board menu dinner 3 courses, which I would actually not recommend to others since their al carte had so many great dishes. It is also reflected in the price. 3 courses for 29 euros vs. 1 course from al carte for 20 euros. As a food lover the truffel ravioli and foie gras hits our hearts. Sometimes they are open for lunch, but it was a bit unclear for us as suddenly they were just closed for lunch. I would have liked to know that beforehand. The only awkward thing was the music the choose to play in the restaurant. From their website design I would expect slow jazz. local music or oldish french music. But they kept playing hardcore french techno.... with a delisous foie gras... not so much in balance. On their website it seems as the beach restaurant is part of the hotel - be careful it is not! You have to walk 5 minutes along the beach to reach the beach restaurant. Will definitely come back when time allows it.

Stayed for my partners birthday. Third time staying here. Little bit of touching up needed here and there. Views are out of this world. Rooms cleaned everyday. Nice location. Possibly could do with a table on the balcony.

I love this hotel and it’s going to be on my list of second visit. A stroll away from the beach, restaurants and the old town. The train station is 10 mins walk away. So a trip to Nice or Monaco is ideal. The breakfast area is superb and the staff is wonderful. They provide absolutely everything for the beach. I cannot fault this boutique hotel. Plus they have a great bar. I have already advised few friends who are motorcycle enthusiasts to use this hotel.
