5.7km from Blackhead ParkWe stayed here over Xmas. The check in was quick and efficient. The room had a great view, was large and well laid out. We tried the restaurant, Exile for dinner and had a great very tasty meal with an exceptional server. We asked for extra toiletries in the evening and were told they were locked up and we would get them in the morning. The night was good. A quiet sleep with a good bed. The next day we awoke and as we were leaving we asked for the toiletries and were told there were none and there wild be no cleaning services on the 25th or 26th!!! We have travelled all over the world for Xmas for the last 30 years and this is the first time we are ever heard of anything like this. I understand wanting to give staff vacation time but not having staff to clean is unusual. Having one staff come in to remove garbage and change towels is not to much to ask. We did manage to get towels later in the day. The front desk staff on the 25 and 26th seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but there. But I will say the lady on the night of the 26th was friendly. My wife has stayed at this hotel before and bragged it up, but All I can say is do not say at Xmas. There are much better values for your money in the area. I am unsure of if services are cut during other holiday times. Honestly is lacking from this hotel. They should say if services are not offered. It should not be something that needs to be found out through questions afterwards. I do not know if services were cut to give staff time off or to save money, but I suspect it was to save money as I think there were less than 10 rooms booked. In my opinion if you want to be promoted as an upscale hotel act like one. If you want to cut back on services during a period, close your doors for the holidays. We liked the location, loved the restaurant, enjoyed the view, were impressed by the decor of the lobby and entrance but unfortunately we cannot look past bad service and staff and cannot recommend this hotel.
