They have a huge swimming pool, well equipped fitness room, complementary breakfast and complementary shuttle service to and fro Des Moines Airport. Neat and clean rooms, friendly staff. Huge property along with different sizes banquet halls for birthday and new Fiesta Mexican restaurant on the side which is superb.. Overall 5/5.

      We are never disappointed when we stay here. The young lady checking us in was very friendly as was the breakfast attendant. The room was very clean and quiet. Also, it is a safe place to stay. They are serving a "real" breakfast buffet. Several selections and four hot dishes plus a waffle maker. We had dinner next door at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. Always have a great meal there. The hotel gives a free drink ticket per guest. We highly recommend this hotel.

      Got this hotel for $129 per night (includes taxes and fees) thru Priceline. It’s in downtown DesMoines. Hotel is connected to a Residence Inn. It appears to be safe for walking. My husband and I walked 1 block to get food at a bar and grill, but mostly a bar, I was scared. We don’t drink alcohol and don’t go to bars. We ordered chicken enchiladas and a burger to go although there were booths to sit and eat. The food was actually good!!!! Now back to the hotel, the room is clean, easy check in, mini fridge and microwave, iron and ironing board in room. Breakfast of cheese omelets, sausage, boiled eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, waffles, etc. Note: parking in garage is $15 per day, street meters are $1.25 per hour from 9am to 9pm , so whatever deal u get factor that cost into your decision.

The hotel is a 15 mins drive from the airport and just a minute drive from the main downtown area. The check in at the hotel was fast and the staff was very friendly throughout the duration of our stay. The suite that I had got had a huge double bed with a big window facing the downtown area. It had all the other amenities needed for any sort of a trip. The morning breakfast was a good spread. It had some very good options for a heavy brunch in case needed. The hotel also has a heated swimming pool which is just perfect if you are travelling in the middle of the winters. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the downtown area for guests. The shuttle service does pick up and drop services within a 2 mile radius. Overall a very good experience. Keep it up.

      When picking up the plane, the hotel asked me to take a taxi from the airport, the hotel paid the money, when the plane was delivered, the hotel staff drove it by themselves and the service was very good. The hotel is in the city, but because it is a big winter, it is cold outside, the river is frozen, the road is frozen, so there is almost no outdoor activity, just walked down SKYWALK, an indoor passage connecting many buildings in the city. There is also heating inside, and the city is small.

      We stayed here for 2 nights over a weekend, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed to be a newer hotel, and everything was clean and modern. The rooms were bigger than I realized, and we had a good experience all around. The pool was closed, and breakfast was limited due to Covid, but that’s understandable. The hotel staff we interacted with were great. Anna at the front desk went of our way to solve a minor problem for us. A couple of small negatives were I felt the walls were “thin”, and the parking situation wasn’t ideal with having to pay for the garage (didn’t wish to use a meter on the street). If you’re a light sleeper, I’d ask for a room on the back side of the hotel. There’s no view, but for me, I’d much prefer quiet. But overall I’ll definitely stay here again if we are ever in town.

      When checking in the front desk young lady was rude, did not give us any information about the hotel. Called the first evening to let them know that the A/C was not working. I was informed that the pipes are old and sometimes they have to turn off the a/c or heat. So I just needed to turn the unit off and open up a window. 😳 Then later on about 2 in the morning we were so hot and sweating so I sent my older son down to ask them if they had a fan. The gentleman that was there was very rude as well. Almost like we were putting him out but asking. Then when we went to get a cocktail at the bar area we were told it was closed. But ppl were still sitting there drinking. 🤦‍♀️ The positives were the shuttle guy was very nice and very informative. The two people working the breakfast were the sweetest and most helpful. They went above and beyond.

      Renaissance des Moines Savery Hotel

      I love the old buildings of downtown Des Moines - so much character and history of the midwest. So I was really excited when the Savery began remodeling 4 or 5 years ago. I finally had the opportunity to stay there. Great old building, great access to parking, restaurants and the skywalk. Reasonably priced, fairly clean with helpful staff. But gee. there are some issues. I am a connoisseur of old buildings and readily accept some of the limitations they can present, but the design of these rooms is really poor. The bathroom is tiny, tiny, tiny. Its only suitable for one or two guests in a room, and if you are a large person, be prepared to sit on the toilet sideways because of the way it is crammed into this small space. No counter space whatsoever in the bathroom. There is ample space in the main room but it is so poorly utilized. Access to the closet requires gymnastics along the side of one of the beds and there is this modestly sized empty space between the beds and the desk/entertainment center. No place to lay open a suitcase except on the wide open floor. The room does have a minifridge. This hotel (like so many post-pandemic - can I say that?) had a skeleton staff whom were each helpful. Mobile key with the phone once again did not work so I gave up on that almost immediately. Aside from the design, the room was fairly clean, the furnishings and amenities were what you would expect from a Renaissance. The fitness facility was empty 99% of the time and the equipment was fine - even had a Peloton bike. The restaurant served a nice breakfast - at the time, my party and I were the only ones there and the service was exceptional. So there was a lot to like but I still came away disappointed because of the poor room design. Would I stay there again? I would probably opt for the Marriott nearby but sometimes you can get a good buy with the Savery and the location is better for me - so maybe.
