Monica is unwelcoming when I arrived ay the front desk without a greeting. She has opportubities in ethical and moral compasses that should have guided her into a hospitality role. She seemed more like the LINE cook than thee front desk manager. Monica presented herself in a manner of a maroon overwashed v neck t shirt, jeans, and flats. Her hair was unmanaged and face could have been refreshed after her dinner break. Now imagine coming to an art inspired hotel and discovering this as your first experience. This is just the first 30 seconds of receiving her as your check in admin. Her words to me and my guest were what left the most impressionable mark of how I felt after my interaction with her and what kind of person Monica is. Maya Angelou wrote: "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." All in all not a place I would come back to now or in the future but maybe in another life.

This hotel is located in Koreatown and within walking distant of coffee shops, CVS, and a 24hrs CBD Tofu house. Staff is very friendly and we had a great view from our room. There is valet parking only, but it is free. The valet will ask for an $2-$3 tip when you pick up your car. It is pretty cheap for parking in LA. There is a restaurant and coffee shop in the hotel, just be mindful of their hours.

We had a fantastic visit to LA, and a very nice stay at Hotel Normandie. The property is beautiful, and the rooms were cozy. The beds were super comfy too! The staff was super friendly and helpful. They gave us an umbrella to use on that one unusual day it rained, they always welcomed us when we came back, and were very clear about the room charges and amenities when we checked in. NOTE: there is a $20/day resort fee that is in addition to your room charge. This is presumably to cover the cost of the continental breakfast and daily wine happy hour, both of which we took advantage of! The coffee at the breakfast is actually pretty good, and they offered a variety of food that was perfect to get your day going. If you are looking for a more substantial breakfast, or a late night cocktail and slice of pie (RECOMMENDED) then check out Cassell's, which is adjacent to the hotel! They make amazing burgers, milkshakes, cocktails, AND pie, and their staff is super awesome. My only slight complaint is that it was quite warm in the hotel? Like, overly warm. Not sure if they cranked up the heat because it was cloudy outside, but the heat was not needed, because it's LA, and it is not that cold! Our room was also quite warm, so we slept with the window open most nights. I'd be curious about how the hotel and rooms are when it is actually hot outside! That being said, I would definitely stay at the Normandie again!

I booked this hostel as a 1 bunk bed meaning a total of 2 people, me and a roommate (seen on picture with two heads). I would have never booked a hostel no more than one other person. The day I got there, they tried to stick me with a 4 bunk bed, total of 8 girls. I pulled up my receipt to show manager Sunnis and assistant manager. They said they don’t have a 1bunk bed. The smallest size is up to 6 girls in a room or you can get a private room for $91 which you might as well stay at a real hotel for that price because it is not worth it staying here. The quality of the room: 1 bathroom is crumby. The managers were trying to put it on me saying I misunderstood which I didn’t. They did not want to reason with me. It was false advertisement. I Gave it a try the first night, Sunnie have me the option to room with 5 girls instead for a few more dollars more. That night when I was trying to sleep at 10pm, manager sunnie comes barging in my room turned the light on and apologized for giving me the wrong room. She said I need to move into the 8 girl bunk because she made a mistake and didn’t check the computer, she already had reservations made in the room I was staying in. I couldn’t believe the horrible experience I went through and in professionalism!! I literally had an anxiety attacking that night. Had girls all hours of the night coming in the room and taking showers l, waking everyone up. The cleaning guy was also sketch. He kept going in and out of the room every second as if he was waiting for me to leave. After I left and he got done cleaning I went back in the room as he didn’t know. He went into the room saw me and said oh sorry and left. I do not trust these people, I do not reccomend this place AT ALL. I left he next day

Very good hostel, exactly what I read from the others' comments. It's very clean, well located, situated in a quiet street and neighborhood. It has a private parking lot that can hold up to 5 cars. Guests there are very respectful and the rules are very clear to anyone. It's just 10-15 minutes walking from the next metro station (purple line). There are no famous restaurants (from big franchise) around there, but it wasn't a problem for me. The rooms have closet, minibar, and air conditioning. As for any other hostel, bring your towel. The blanket are ok. No complaint about bed and pillow. That's what I expected, CLEAN, well located and quiet. I will certainly recommend this hostel!

This hotel was one of the most incredible places I have stayed at. They are so kind and welcoming. Definitely a high class experience in all ways possible. Their staff was helpful, kind, and personable. The room was so clean and comfortable. Not to mention sound proof. I was not bothered by anything else happening in the rooms surrounding ours. Great views of the city! Amazing location! And their room service is on point! So swift! They came and cleaned like magical fairies! Wonderful place to stay! Not to mention the amazing Cafe downstairs. One of the best places I have ever eaten! Best hotel in all of Los Angeles.

I have to say I was way apprehensive about staying at this hotel (which was locked in based on a pre-paid 'you bid on it and win' transaction). My wariness was based on the preponderance of unforgiving critical reviews ranging from the outdated décor, malodorous-ness, soiled furniture, accusations of fleas and other critters in the rooms. Let me just say, my expectations fell below sea level, and I envisioned something heinous for my mother and me. But, when I walked into the lobby, I smiled a little. And then when I entered into our room (#333), I smiled even more and breathed a sigh of relief. The room was big enough and so was the bathroom with its wall-to-wall counter providing plenty of much-appreciated space for my endless bag-o-toiletries. A side table for in-room dining if you opt for takeout one night, a small fridge for storing leftovers, a desk with hotel stationery, a flat screen TV with ample channels, that's what you'll get in reality. It was not terrible folks. However, the universal comments about the granite bed are accurate. I averted that issue by bringing my own Memory Foam Mattress Topper, a 39.99 investment that I believed was totally worth it. Yes, it is not the Four Seasons, but neither is the price point. I got a fantastic deal of $115/night on the afore-referenced third-party site, and we personally enjoyed our four-night stay. It provided a pleasant base at the end of the day after we set out each morning to explore fabulous places like Malibu and the PCH, the Getty Villa, the curvy Mulholland Drive, Beverly Hills, and an excursion up to Palm Springs. I happened to like the location, which is in the gritty, but safe heart of Koreatown. So, surprise...its reception desk is staffed by bilingual (maybe trilingual) employees, attracts a Korean clientele, and offers Asian dining fare. If this provokes discomfort or dissatisfaction in you as a traveler, this is probably not the place to stay. Don't stay here either if your ideal of a hotel is to lounge, luxuriate and linger in bed, order room service with a Champagne breakfast, and work on your tan by the pool (I don't think there is one). A couple of tips: Valet is reasonable at $9/night, but I was able to find street parking along Oxford Street, 8th Street, etc. For lunch/dinner options when you prefer something within walking distance, I recommend: Pollo a la Brasa on Western Ave across the street. Damn son, as juicy a chicken as you will dig into, served with a fiery and delectable green sauce. Slurpin' Ramen - lots of ramen to be had in LA, but you can be first in line by just walking the two minutes it takes from the lobby.

What a nightmare staying at this hotel. The only reason we have not rated it as terrible is because the staff did try - but to be honest they are fighting a losing battle with this place. The whole building needs a complete refurb and should be shut down until this is done. We were given our room key by friendly reception staff and headed upstairs. On entering the room there was a very strange smell, the carpets were very badly stained and the bed felt as hard as a rock. The temperature outside was around 26 degrees as the room was stuffy. The first thing we did was try to switch on the air con but we could not get it to work. We rang down stairs and, to be fair to the staff, the Manager was there within minutes. He did the usual switch it off / switch it back on again but that didn't work. At that stage he said it was broken but would find us another room - luckily we hadn't unpacked. We were then taken to another room down the next corridor but this room was one of their Standard rooms (we had booked a Deluxe room). We pointed this out to the Manager but he initially said, as we had booked through Expedia, that he could not offer us any reduction for downgrading our room. We pointed out that this was not acceptable and he told us to wait while he liaised with reception. Eventually we were told there were no more Deluxe rooms available but they would upgrade us to a Suite. We were then taken down another corridor to the next room - the air con worked this time which was a bonus but the room itself had definitely seen better days. The furniture looked like something from the 1960's and was dented / scratched / broken like it had been used since the 1960's too! The bed was so hard it would have probably have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor. After we had unpacked we decided to go out and explore the area. As we went to leave the room we noticed that the door was not closing properly (with all our property in the room and NO safe we could not leave) so had to ring down to reception again. Once again we have to say that the staff were quick to come up but they struggled to mend the door. After almost 1 hour, and 3 memeber's of staff, the door eventually closed but we were told to be "careful" when we came and went!! On the 2nd day we noticed that the air con was stuck permanently on 72 degrees and would not move and the door refused to lock on our way out AGAIN so we had to wait for staff to attend again! There was no bin in the room, we advised staff on reception twice but one never appeared. On the 2nd day we used a carrier bag to collect the rubbish up, the maid came - took the bag, but still did not take the hint to leave a bin!!! On our 3rd day out we returned to find the door to our room was open. Luckily nothing was taken but this down to pure luck. We raised it with staff and were told that only the maid had been to the room that day, obviously the lock failed on her same as it had on u

“It was quite difficult looking for a Hotel for the dates we were looking at. Hometel Suites was the nicest hotel near DTLA that was affordable for 6 nights. Although there were mixed reviews, the renovation looked really nice online so I booked it. Upon arrival, the guest service agents were very kind & allowed us to check in earlier than allowed. The elevator is still under construction so we had to walk up. We were first given a beautiful room on the 2nd floor but wanted a better view so they gave us the same room on the 4th. The stairs were worth being further up. Overall, the area is quiet, there’s a convenience store and laundromat across the street with coffee & a vending machine in the lobby. It worked for us, it’s not the fanciest lobby but the ROOM is definitely top notch & the housekeeping was always on point. My only suggestions are: MORE than one pillow each on the bed, a softer mattress, better channels and for housekeeping to pay attention to small details when cleaning because Guests notice everything!”

Wow. Lots of grumpy people handing down bad reviews because it's not the Intercontinental. It's a $100 per night room with free parking and within EASY walking distance of a Metro stop in Los Angeles. This is almost "youth hostel" prices for this city. I estimate my room is approximately 750 square feet, with pocket doors separating a living room with a better-than-necessary refrigerator, tv and couch, and a king size bed with a bathroom which is massive compared to most hotels in LA. Koreatown is a much better landing pad than Hollywood or Downtown for reasonable restaurants. And there's a Ralph's around the corner that sells budget sushi, roast chicken and similar for the cost conscious. The pizza joint on the ground floor is inexpensive and again, better than it has to be considering. Staff is friendly. And did I mention $100 per night, free parking, walking distance from a metro?

LA is suffering from a terrible homeless population. The sidewalks are filled with people in tents, if they are lucky to have one, or just lying on the ground. Unfortunately, they are all around this area. This hotel is good. My husband and I drove to LA for a weekend visit with family who live nearby. If you need a place to stay in midtown, I recommend this hotel. They charge $10 per night for parking, but it is secure and well worth it. Parking is difficult to find in the area. Staff were warm and welcoming. I completed the on-line check in and requested parking in disabled spot and a room near elevator as I use a cane when I walk. I did get the parking, paying the fee of course, but the room was almost at the end of a long corridor. I didn’t complain as I was exhausted from a long drive, and it was only for 2 nights. The view overlooked the alley, but it was quiet. The bed in the room was exceptionally high for me, about 31 inches (my bed is at 25 inches high), and I asked for a step stool or bench. I was immediately accommodated and was handed a folding step stool that is used by cleaning staff. That worked fine. I really appreciated the updated furnishings. Everything was impeccably clean in the room. The linens looked and smelled clean and fresh. Finally, the best thing at this hotel is the breakfast included with your stay. They have a variety of hot and cold foods: i.e., pancake and waffle maker, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, cereal, assorted bread and pastries, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit. All served in a very clean room, refreshed by staff on a frequent basis, and tables cleared and cleaned quickly. There is a Walgreens a block away if you need something. Lots of restaurants, too.

Amy Bloch, the Concierge, contacted us about 2 weeks before our arrival asking if there was anything she could do for us either setting up any tours, restaurant suggestions and reservations or anything we might need. After asking for suggestions on restaurants she did send me quite a selection of different types of restaurants along with things to do around Hollywood and Los Angeles. When my friend and I arrived Amy greeted us at the front desk, welcoming us to the Roosevelt Hotel. The entire staff from the front desk, the guys at the valet parking, housekeeping and room service were outstanding. They couldn't do enough for us. Everyone at the hotel, especially Amy made our stay simply fantastic. The Roosevelt Hotel is the only place we would stay in Hollywood.

Downtown Los Angeles
It's a big place like Los Angeles, and the room is so small, I feel drunk too. It is too small to open the luggage, which is inconvenient to open. I specifically explained that I want a quiet room. The garbage truck on the street started to pull garbage less than 5:00 in the morning. The staff talked. I thought the window was not closed. As a result, there was no window for you to open. It was just a piece of glass with light. Just come in. A small refrigerator, placed on a shelf, but not in a cabinet. There is nothing in the refrigerator, but it is plugged in, and the operation noise is noisy all night. It will collapse when you live one day. No one will help you. Carry luggage. No one asks if you need help. Is this still Los Angeles I know? The beds are ok, moderately hard and soft. The location is good. It is convenient to walk everywhere, and around breakfast. Walking on HIlls street towards 3rd street, everything is there. May not stay here next time, unless there is no choice.

Los Angeles International Airport Area
Because of the proximity to the airport, the sound of the plane taking off and landing has never stopped, quiet is not enough, and I can sleep. The hotel room did not actively provide slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste. It was okay to call to ask the housekeeping to arrive. The bathtub has no glass door, just a plastic shower curtain. The shower faucet is fixed to the wall. There is a free shuttle to the airport 24 hours. The driver also helped to carry luggage up and down. The service was good.

My family has been using the Anza hotel for all of our trips to the Calabasas/LA area for the past 4 years or so, and we love it here. I hope we can continue to rely on the Anza for years to come. Beautiful rooms, superb location, and best of all they allow pets! The prices for rooms are very reasonable and they all have a nice "boutique feel" to them which adds something special. I want to add an extra note about my last stay here, which took place during the first days of the Covid-19 outbreak. I traveled alone without my husband and child to Calabasas/California because I needed to be with a gravely ill parent who soon passed away. Being able to stay in a comfortable hotel during this awful period was such a comfort to me, and I want to add that Ryan, who works at the Bistro restaurant and bar, was especially great to me during this time. Ryan prepared delicious meals for me, got to know me and my love for an evening glass of wine right away, and was a warm, friendly presence when I came home from the hospital at night (and in later days, came home to the hotel after days spent making final arrangements). Ryan and the team at the Anza who continued to work during the stressful days of Covid-19 "stay at home restrictions" were truly a blessing to me and I value, and am so grateful for, their work on the behalf of me and other guests who really needed a hotel stay for emergency reasons.

Everything was on point! All the staff were very accommodating! I arrived early Saturday and I was lucky to get a room early. Which helped a lot since we were on the go per our Soccer Tournament. When we needed a space to have our potluck in the evening they helped with our set up. Everyone was very friendly and customer service was amazing!
