The climb up the hill to Anjuan is worth the effort as this is one of the most pleasant places I have stayed at in Kochi Prefecture. From afar the hotel looks rather unimpressive. When you arrive, however, you realize they have done an amazing job turning a somewhat drab concrete structure into a cozy and welcoming Japanese style inn. If you are ok with sleeping on tatami mat floors on futons, the Japanese style rooms are lovely and the communal bath is a real treat after a day of sightseeing. The food at Anjuan is really quite something and beautifully presented. I am vegetarian and multi-course evening meal was absolutely delicious and compared very well with my colleague’s meat and fish course. The Japanese breakfast was also excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive and the many small courtesies on display that explain the ways of the Japanese inn to the uninitiated in English are all very welcome.

Thank you for your help in Shimanto sightseeing. In front of Nakamura station. About 10 minutes walk to downtown. The room is very large. The air conditioning is sufficient, the windows open, the bathroom is clean and the shower is strong. It was very luxurious when we had dinner at restaurant on the second floor. There were many customers as it is a popular store. Breakfast was good too. There is a convenience store in front of you and the cost performance is very good. There are also two coin laundry machines, which is convenient.

We stayed ２ nights on our trip to Kochi in October 2020. The hotel was undergoing a large-scale repair work on the outer wall and there was a scaffolding around. Parking is free, but the first parking lot just beside the hotel can only park about 10 cars, so you will park in a parking lot a little far away when you are full. Arrived around 14 o'clock, but I was able to check in. The front desk staff is not stationed during the day, so the room key is good. When you need it, you can call the staff at the front desk bell, and there is nothing wrong with it. Breakfast is provided free of charge from 7:30 in the lobby, but this time the staff at the dining room also served as the front desk business. We are trying to reduce costs by thoroughly saving labor. The content of the breakfast was mainly Japanese food, and Western food was about bread, salad and drink, but it is glad to eat this for free. １ There is a ”Yakuyu bath” behind the front desk on the floor, but there are only １, so it is a men and women change system on the day of the week and time. The manager was a good person and kindly responded to this request. It is a wound that there is a fairly narrow road from the city center, but the environment around the inn is a good place surrounded by nature. It was the riverside of the Shimanto River as the name was.

Clean hotel with amazing with of the Pacific Ocean from inside the room. The staffs are very helpful and offered to carry my luggage up the stairs. However due to language barrier, did not tell me that I can see the ocean and sunrise from my room. I missed the beautiful view as the curtains are close and did not discover the view until I was about to checkout. It is a regret as I believe the sunrise would be stunning. Would highly recommend booking at the restaurant in advance, as there is no much to eat and shop nearby. The restaurant is small scaled, so might not be able to cater last minute orders. Overall a very nice stay, given the budget. Suitable for those who are on driving.
