0.97km from Le VendomeExcellent service and super clean! This quaint boutique villa type resort made my family and I feel like we are a welcomed part of Negril! We feel blessed to be at such a super clean property with delicious food and excellent service! Ms. Vinnette made sure the business was in order and the food made by Chef Miguel was delicious! They arranged airport transport that was nice and reasonable by Milton. The security guy is a Big Man GODFREY with an even bigger heart and he made sure all our needs were met and we felt safe! He made sure my son had fun and god-daughter felt protected!. I would stay here again although you have to pay to go down to the beach but they arrange that at a good price round trip and Oniel was a great and responsible! Overall I loved this trip! The only think I would change is the costs of the delicious food for lunch and dinner. It taste good but when traveling with family it was not affordable to eat at resort past breakfast.
1.06km from Le VendomeOk booked this little resort well in advance on Booking.com. Instructions clearly state pay 50% at booking and balance due at the resort handled by resort at time of check in ok no problem i can use cash instead. Now this was booked in Jan 2020 for a stay in March. Well a week before arrival I received an email from Booking.com stating resort canceled my reservation due to insufficient funds, wait why are they trying to access my account I don’t arrive for another week to make the final balance payment as the instructions state. Tried calling but wrong number listed on Booking.com for the property. So I googled a phone number reached the correct resort. Nice young lady answered who could not help she needed the manager who wasn’t available at 2:00 pm on a Tuesday. Sent email via Booking.com. I asked them to stop trying to make the unauthorized debit on my account and I would pay the balance upon arrival in cash. The reply was check with the USA,Jamaica airport maybe closed. I again replied nothing closed still coming paying at the resort. The next afternoon I received email from Booking.com stating resort canceled reservation and deposit is forfeited. Again tried to get in touch with the manager and still waiting. I’m out of my deposit because of the thieves. You don’t try to access someone’s bank account unauthorized, that is fraud that’s why i have the protection. Simple email stating final payment due week before arrival would have avoided all stress . Now I’m forced to find another place to stay the week and out of my $ 261 deposit. Bad Business stay clear.
1.09km from Le VendomeSue is a knowledgeable and friendly host, who has dedicated much time and energy to building relationships with the locals and businesses in the community. She is a great resource for information and advice on navigating the area. There is a booklet in the cottage containing a wealth of important information that is well worth reading. The Judy House cottage is a great find away from the tourist-heavy resort area of downtown Negril. The sounds of dogs, roosters, frogs, etc. are a nightly and early morning fixture. There is also a friendly and playful dog named Frankie on the property, who would love your attention. The front porch was a lovely place to relax, eat dinner and listen to the frogs sing at night. Wifi was unreliable and there was not a strong signal at Judy House however it did work better in other areas on the property. We were excited to have the security guard on duty prepare a meal for us as advertised but unfortunately he did not show on the agreed upon time. We had a great time during our stay and felt at home at Judy House.

1.14km from Le VendomeWe enjoyed a few days between the holidays at this beautiful, intimate, cliff side resort. The grounds are lovely, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the made to order breakfasts were delicious. Our garden view suite was large, had a very nice open shower/large bathroom. The wraparound veranda with hammock was a nice place to enjoy a red stripe and the constant breeze. The sliding double doors can be fully opened and allow for fresh air to come in. The in suite kitchen is also appreciated and convenient. We loved being able to take the daily shuttle to Idle Awhile Beach and we spent quite a lot of time using the beach and bar there. Claudia at the bar and Aaron at the beach are especially great. We also appreciated the convenience of charging food and beverage back to our room account at the Cliffs. Overall we loved our time at Idle Awhile and look forward to returning. A few small suggestions that would improve the experience, in my opinion. First, put a French press or drip coffeemaker in each room. You have kitchens with blenders, fridges, stoves, and toaster ovens, but no coffeemaker? It doesn’t make sense, particularly with how delicious Jamaican coffee is. The kitchens could also use towels or paper towels. Second, put some music on down at the pool area in the afternoons. Some low reggae would make it a little more inviting and fun. Again, these are small suggestions. We hope to return soon. Thanks for a great vacation.

1.19km from Le VendomeThis was our first attempt going non-all inclusive since we're older now and don't eat or drink like we used to. Also, it's our eighth trip to Jamaica and have done the tours and attractions etc. already. We wanted a nice room, good beach and food. the lively pool bar and great help was a bonus. We tried eating around and came to the conclusion the food at travellers was as good as anywhere else and loved the convenience. We got the breakfast plan for $80 which came in handy. The beach was smaller but perfectly adequate. We had second floor room 57 which had a nice view with patio. We noticed the first floor rooms looked smaller so choose the room carefully. Private transfers from the airportwere $80 each way which we took advantage of. Since no trip is without glitches I will note them here, even though I will definitely be back. When I called to book they were having trouble with the phone line and when we arrived the power was down so no lights, beach towels and other services. There was outside the room, marble stairs going down to the ground. One day it rained, and I slipped on these stairs breaking a rib. If I had my sandals on maybe would not have happened, but I was barefoot. The management promised to correct the situation but I don't know if it happened, so use your footwear since there's a lot of polished marble. The waterline is about 25 feet from the building, so the beach vendors are close to you, so if you clutch your pearls when confronted by a Jamaican sales person there might be a problem. Sometimes the waitstaff may get you order or bill wrong and try again. Towel cards are used so one towel which has to be returned to get your card back. there's a little shade but the staff will install an umbrella by your chair when asked. Bottom line I saved thousands doing a pay as you go instead of all inclusive. Not as polished but we had the room, the beach, the food, good help, so what's not to like.
1.26km from Le VendomeThe property itself is not the subject of this review. We rented through air BnB from a private owner. The room was dirty...everywhere. Floors, walls, toilet, nothing was clean. We bought supplies and left it cleaner than when we checked in. We had trouble getting a wifi password because the owner is separate from the resort. Ours never worked. We had to get staff to give us the hotels password. Our safe was not available because someone supposedly took the key. Our AC unit froze up twice because of dirt. Fortunately I know how to clean and get it going again. We had to beg the owner for towels and sheets. He was extremely uncooperative, asked me to stop involving air BnB because it was making him look bad. He lied to me about being a "new owner". Others in the building have been fighting him for several years. People only come back to this building because of its outstanding location...literally ON the beach. And there was construction going on upstairs. I would never stay in Ricky's building again. The rest of the property gets a 4.
Hotels Near Bongo'S In Negril Review
I had a great stay in Jamaica but thank goodness I knew what I was getting into by picking a 3-star hotel. I am very flexible and open minded when visiting another country, which you will have to be to if you stay here. The room was very basic, and nothing more, as the only items provided were linens, blankets, pillows, toilet paper, towels, bar of soap, cold AC, and a working TV. There is NO Wi-Fi in the rooms ONLY the front office or restaurant just FYI. I very much enjoyed our private patio with table and chairs because we played cards each night. Our bathroom had a water leak, so we had to walk around with slippers or avoid stepping in water in the bathroom. The water was HOT it could burn your skin off. There is no fridge or waters/beer provided in the room. The hotel staff was not friendly nor mean just kind of there. We had all inclusive breakfast each morning, which was pretty good but always the same. I always had the scrambled eggs, breakfast beans, and potatoes. The beach was beautiful and had plenty of chairs for everyone. They also provide one beach towel per person and you pick them up in the lobby. The water was clear and beautiful, and you didn’t have to worry about seaweed. Although, I am 99% sure I was stung by a jellyfish. The beach was free of trash and was raked each morning. There will be local Jamaicans coming up to you ALL DAY LONG but that’s how it is. We just said no, and they went on with the next person. I got asked to buy weed about 1000 times along with fruit, horse rides, and other random stuff. I like local vendors, so they did not bother me, but we did have to watch our stuff if we were in the ocean, but they never messed with anything. There was security on site but not sure if they really did anything from what I could tell. The reason why I picked Merrill’s is due to location. You could truly walk anywhere down the beach or road in either direction. You can literally walk outside the front gates and have 3 cabs trying to get your business and we must of easily rode in over 5 cabs from very nice to not so nice. Make sure you pick a price before you get into their car. I would def stay here again but I would not bring children. If you want to get away from the 5-star resort, with no local culture, I would recommend staying here or around this area. The beer was cold, the food was fresh, and it was so comfortable staying local and soaking up the culture.
Wow! We absolutely loved every moment of our stay at Firefly. The central location on the gorgeous 7 mile beach is a slice of heaven. We stayed with our family in the Pelican Suite which was huge! It felt like we had our own house steps from the beach: 2 bedrooms and full, well-equipped kitchen. The master bedroom was dreamy and romantic with it's four poster bed, and floor-length breezy curtains fluttering with the breeze. I slept like a baby every single night, something I never, ever experienced at a hotel before. I can't say enough about the kindness and helpfulness of all the staff at Firefly. Kamara at the front desk was lovely and made everything smooth from our booking process, to planning an excursion, to arranging transportation, and everything in between. We will never forget the lovely kind people who were ever ready to help: Tanya, Janice, Adesha, Dennis, Mauvette. Tanya left our room sparkling clean every day and left us with a fresh pile of fluffy towels. She was so kind and always had a smile on her face. Dennis at the restaurant was so sweet and ever ready to help. We felt so welcomed throughout our stay. We also felt very safe at Firefly with 24-hour security. The beach guard ( I wish I knew his name) kept a very careful watch over the beach. I even forgot my phone on the beach once, and he noticed and saved it for me until I returned from my walk. The beach sellers we encountered were all polite and moved on if we said we weren't interested. We did however enjoy supporting their businesses whenever possible by buying fresh juice, bracelets and handmade goods. Firefly is also a short 10-minute walk from a small strip mall that has a bank, pharmacy, and some souvenir shops. If I ever have the privilege of visiting beautiful Jamaica again, I would most definitely want to stay at Firefly. Best memories ever!
We stayed in Room 16, Sweet Cup, for nine nights in late February, 2020. Couples trip. We really liked the hotel. Nice and small property but has everything you need. Pools are both small but the one across the road is better and usually quiet. It was very quiet at night in general here and we were happy we picked a room on the ocean side. Perfect location on a great part of the beach and easy access to lots of restaurants. Our favourites were Coletta's, Best in the West, and Sweet Spot across the road, and Kuyaba and Skylark on the beach were great too. We had the best jerk pork from the guy on the beach and the second best from the interesting guys next door at Six Flags one evening. Staff were gracious and welcoming and wonderful. We loved Donna (? I think was her name, I'm getting old!) our housekeeper and Delroy the bartender who is obviously very popular as are their thrice-weekly happy hours. Food at the hotel restaurant was quite good if a bit pricier than other comparable places. Service was a bit hit and miss but we experienced the same almost everywhere in Negril. Just a bit slower and more indifferent than our usual experience with service in Mexico. It was really handy that there is a crosswalk right at this hotel- the only one on the main part of the strip. Our room was spacious and had a tv with lots of cable channels and a fridge- a coffee maker would also have been nice. Bathroom was nice and big with the toilet and shower in a separate room with a door from the sink. A/C worked well. This room is not ideal if you are against walking up three flights of stairs, so be aware. All in all Rondel was almost perfect and we would definitely stay there again!
What at great place to stay. We went for a long weekend at the end of September. We had an ocean front room and it was big, clean, and nicely appointed. The service was great and the food was amazing. We ate there every night, and had breakfast on our patio overlooking the light blue water every morning. Andre, the bartender took care of any request we had, even getting us ice cream one night. It is incredibly quiet right now in Negril as they reopen from the effects of the Coronavirus. At times it felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. The only downside was that we were very few tourists visiting at the time so every single beach vendor wanted you to buy goods. I hope it gets back to normal for the friendly people of Negril. 7 mile beach is beautiful and Sandy Haven is certainly one of the nicest properties. We will certainly be back.
Cozy Coco is a fantastic, affordable new addition to Negril hotel options! My boyfriend and I recently stayed for two weeks and loved it. Our room was attractive, everything in it felt fresh and new, the room was all white, spacious, airy, and and sparkling clean. It was comfortably furnished, and we used the kitchen daily which was well stocked and functional. The shower and kitchen had true hot water all the time. Water pressure varied some but we were always able to shower, not a problem. AC and tv worked great. The grounds are lovely, tended with TLC by by the owner Zeenie, a very pleasant woman who has nice taste and an eye for detail. We loved the hummingbird feeder! The grounds felt very safe. Cozy Coco is well situated, right across the street from what is in my opinion, the ‘best’ (central) part of 7 Mile Beach, and a number of good restaurants are within easy walking distance, including right next door. A part of me wants to keep this place secret because once it catches on it’ll be impossible to book here, but Zenie has worked so hard making this place what it is that my better half knows she deserves the review, and fellow travelers deserve to know what a great place it is.
