Just on the other side of the Ping River and across from busy, wonderful Warorot market is the lovely Ban Thong U hotel (right next to the footbridge). The home is a teak Chiang Mai style home with original decorations, beautiful wooden floors and high ceilings. The comfy rooms have good beds (meaning: hard mattresses) and airconditioning (although our room was situated looking out on a busy road - so there is a bit of traffic noise). The bathroom is spacious, modern and very clean (just down the hall and some steps). Across the road (Thanon Charoenrad) is Wat Ket. A very very beautiful temple and one of Thailand’s sacred chedi’s. It’s extraordinary!

I absolutely loved Rustic Guesthouse. The place has a cute aesthetic and is centrally located near China Town, only a short walk from the Old Town. The staff members are all incredibly kind and helpful, always willing to answer your questions, to point out their favourite restaurants, or to help you book tours/transport. I can't comment about the breakfast, as it is offered from 8am and I always started my day too early to benefit from this inclusion, but there are plenty of cafes in the neighbourhood and 7/11 stores abound, so you can always pick up some food easily and cheaply if desired. All in all, a fantastic guesthouse for those looking for cheap, clean rooms with some cute, rustic touches.

First of all, location was good. Center of Chaingmai old town (Wat ket Temple area). Easy to walk to Main Market just cross the bridge. But not recommend to go there in the night time. Lots of homeless and drunker. Look unsafe for me. Next to hotel is 2 big famous Pub and restaurant so if you are not party person, not recommend to stay. The music was turn off around 2am. after that you will see lots of drunker yelling, crying, singing etc.. The only thing that is good for me was the service from security. If you take a look in hotel picture, the parking lot is limited. Just only 5-6 cars can park, However, security guy can manage all cars parked in order. The room is too small. around 20sqm for superior type. The toilet and shower are separate. Small balcony. They allow guest to smoke at balcony but when ask for ashtrays, they don't have it. So u will see many used cigarettes at the back of balcony. Did not know about breakfast but better walk to find something else at Market nearby. Overall, not recommend to stay at all. Understand that it is Budget hotel but compare with another budget hotel in Chiang Mai, this hotel is below standard.

It's just 1-2 minutes from the Night Bazaar Market, and 5-7 minutes from Jiangha Kitchenware, which is often visited by Koreans. Good bathroom drainage. There is a cafe and rice restaurant next to the hotel, and the pork & egg rice bowl is really good. I liked the TV because it has the name of a hotel. Most hostels don't have TV. There is also a cafe on the 1st floor of the hotel.

After my usual place to stay, across the road from Tapae Gate, turned from budget to boutique hotel and with it the price level, I walked down Tapae Road in order find a “new old place”. And I found the Tapae Inn Hotel. It is old and worn and if you like fancy hotels, you would not be happy here. But for me it is good enough and nothing beats the price in this location (380 Bhat/Night). When I don’t sleep, I am out exploring the town any way. That it is very close to my favourite Indian restaurant is just another plus. The halls and corridors are styled like a museum. They are packed with old advertisements, old newspaper articles and movie posters. Most of it comes from the 1960s and 70s. - Most rooms can be secured with an additional pad lock. - The WiFi internet in the room is really fast. - At least my room had hot shower and I think they all have. - Rooms are air-conditioned. - They sell a limited number of beverages from a fridge next to the reception. - The lady at the reception is very friendly and helpful. - The reception counter is open 24/7. - It is very close to the night market (2 minutes). - “Spices” Indian Restaurant is nearby (1 Minute). - Tapae Gate is 5 to 10 minutes away. - A small Tops supermarket is across the road. The lady that runs the reception desk is very friendly and the guy on night duty was very helpful and efficient when I had trouble with the air-conditioner at midnight. The next Soi leads you straight into the Chiang Mai China Town area (1 minute walking). There is a big, red sign pointing you in the right direction. An additional sign gives Information about other highlights of China Town. Hundreds of travel agencies in Chiang Mai call themselves “Tourist Information” in order to lure in travellers. The official tourist information office, run by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), is only 3 minutes away, on the same side of the road and near the river.

Huay Kaew
The hotel location is quite convenient, there are several entrances and exits in the lobby; however, the rooms are more on the lower floor and near the street, and will be noisy after 8 or 9 in the morning. The health of the room is ok, and general hotel equipment is provided. Hotel service staff was very good! The price is acceptable.

Check in on October 14. The hotel is quietly located on the edge of the city, with views of Chiang Mai city. The hotel is clean and tidy, with complete facilities, and the overall service is warm and thoughtful. When inquiring the beautiful sister at the reception desk in the lobby, she took the initiative to inform the hotel that there is a free minibus to pick up and drop off guests to the city night market, and gave a timetable, feeling warm. The hotel has a lot of European and American guests, the front desk does not speak Chinese, and English communication is no problem. There is a small food cart placed by the locals on the street outside the hotel. The mung bean glutinous rice rolls grilled with corn leaves are delicious. You can take a double car at Menkou Street, there are more double cars after walking across the bridge, and the traffic is convenient. Very good experience, will choose this next time.

Chiangmai Old City
I've stayed at many different hostels, and believe me when I tell you that this was the best one I've stayed in! The staff was warm, friendly, attentive and patient. The hostel was clean, nice, and convenient. I'm usually hesitant to read excellent reviews because I think they are fake. This one, I'll definitely come back to again. Thanks to the lovely staff

Chiangmai Old City
I stayed here for 3 nights on a solo trip and because it wasn’t my first time to the city, I was rather specific about where I wanted to stay, and I chose this hotel for its location in old town near to the many cafés I had wanted to visit. First app - the service. It was amazing! I was scheduled to arrive at 10pm and although the late check in procedure was originally a personal email on unlocking various locks to get the room as the lobby that connects to the bar was closed, after I responded, they actually said they will have someone to wait for me at the reception to help me with my check in. Already a very positive note even before I arrive! Check in was swift and the room was exactly like shown. Its not a style for all, but I love it. Its simple, classically modern and functional. My only gripe is that there are not enough power points near the main bed (or you will Need a longer wire) so you really have to charge your phones at the TV Consol (with my short wire) which means that you don’t get to have your phone right besides your bed. The bed is Asian style firm so if you like it cushy, then its not for you. The pillows were also not that ok, even though with 4, its not the firm kind so i did have trouble sleeping. But if you like fluffy kind, these are your heaven. The bathroom had all the amenities needed - toothbrush, cotton, et al., but no mouthwash, so bring your own. There is also handwash next to sink and a good hair dryer provided. Shower pressure was surprisingly good and the wall mounted heater means u can tune the hot water manually to your liking. The location is superb as its near Thae Pae gate and You can really explore the old Town easily within walking distance from this location. The hotel also has a coffee bar with very cool drinks.

In general, it is considered satisfactory. The transportation is convenient, the hotel near the airport is near the Maya department store, the temple and Nimman Road are near the spacious rooms, equipped with convenient facilities. The bathroom is equipped with a handkerchief, and the body can be wiped with a water heater.
