We were told on many occasions not here. Please provide positive directions in future. The hotel itself after the poor beginning was excellent. The room was clean and serviceable with a good fridge. Although my wife found the bed and pillows uncomfortable I did not. Breakfast had a good selection and the dining area was roomy. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone teach the chef to fry an egg. No matter your preference whether it be over easy, flipped or hard yolk all eggs had a fantastic burnt plastic skirt. TIP use the right kind of oil, don't turn the heat up so high, have the oil warm before the egg goes in, and don't use freezing cold eggs. The hotel organised Taxi's for us and these were excellent.

The room was well heated and there always was hot water, but I had to shower the whole bathroom, just to take a shower. I have really strong doubts about the cleaning, too. The owner was quite friendly in general, but didn't support us on an argue we had with a taxi driver, who ripped us off with the money exchange and took an unreasonably big amount of money. He actually called us ”malakas” for not willing to leave the poor taxi driver a tip.For me that was the worse part. Not protecting your client and encouraging the taxi drivers' behavior(who, believe me, are quite infamous) is the main reason for this bad review and why I will not prefer it again in the future.

|0.46km from city centerSuperplace, directly on a corner at the top of Vitosha Blvd. Ideal for tourists because many attractions are to be reached foot. For the eye nicely furnished rooms, the material used is of lower quality. Cheapest spanwood or press paper or anything. The floors of the shublade are partially unleashed because they are nailed with mini-stops that can also be unloaded with light loading. Water savings rate of the toilet without function. The beds were okay - with good sleep comfort. However, we had also a room back - which was very quiet. Afterwards it was likely to be noisy. The room was not cleaned, but towels were changed and waste packers (which must also be used for toilet paper) were empty. Reception at arrival was very nice, with instruction to rooms and buildings. Good solution with coded doors (input door building, input door floor and room door). So you don't have to take care of keys. Afterwards a young lady sat at the reception that was completely inappropriate for the job m.E. We had a simple question. She looked up a little from the PC, answered 'no!' and immediately looked back into the PC - probably in the hope that we would go back. I was tending to apologize for the disturbance until I realized we were the guests in the hotel. We have avoided any further contact. So no one should count with the reception as a contact.

|4.8km from city centerWe were here as part of a group tour in September 2022. Check in was swift from the hotel staff and we were given a room on the second floor. As we were part of a Travel Talk Tour, some of the rooms were twins and some were triples. I was in a triple room for the one night we spent here - for three lads with suitcases, the room was a bit on the small side, but we made it work. The beds were comfortable enough, the bedding and the room were clean and the fixtures were in good condition. As well as the three beds, there was a desk, TV, wardrobe with safe and hanging space. The bathroom had a shower over the bath, large sink and vanity unit and toilet. The towels were clean and there were no issues with water pressure or temperature. The hotel wifi was good - good range and speed. We headed into one of the conference rooms for a briefing before our tour and it was a good size. There was a wedding party next door in one of the other conference rooms. Breakfast was good, with a good selection of food and drink. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. Location-wise, you've got a big supermarket next door, so if you need anything, including anything from a pharmacy like we did, then you're in luck. Overall a good short stay here - recommended.

Flawless experience- everything during our stay was perfect. Extremely polite and knowledgeable staff and great food selection for the room service- one afternoon, I took the kids out and my wife literally spent the entire time vegging out in the room. This hotel is up to the highest European standards, at a fraction of the cost of what you would pay for a similar property in Paris or London. Truly enjoyable experience- I wish we had more time to spend there!

|1km from city centerThis hotel is in an excellent location: about 10 minute walk from the bus/train station; 5 minutes walk to the metro; 20 minutes walk to the city centre. So from that perspective, it fit my needs perfectly. The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful, so that was a major plus. The rooms, well, a bit of a mixed bag. While the rooms were VERY spacious, and had a great little balcony, from which I enjoyed a few drinks in the evening, the room really needed to be renovated. The word I described it is “shopworn”. Look at my photos of the room and you can see the broken couch and stained carpet. I would also say that the cleaning staff is a little lacklustre. While not “dirty” per sae, it certainly could be cleaned better. Some minor renovations and better cleaning would have me rating this hotel as a “five”.

|8.41km from city centerWe stayed with two young children for 4 nights whilst we attended a wedding in Sofia. The hotel is in a quiet location with parking. The staff on arrival are friendly especially George he made us feel very welcome and helped with our luggage. We stayed in the family room. The room was nice big and spacious. It is in need of a few repairs and upgrades. The sofa is dipped in the middle, the corners of the bathroom are grubby, the bath has jets that need gutting and the door to the balcony is hanging off and doesn’t close properly which is a safety concern. Breakfast is simple and not a lot was out although hot food is made at your request and room service is available. The breakfast staff were lovely. A young man called Alex was very impressive, polite and diligent. Such an asset to the company to have staff like Alex. An incident with the cleaner ruined our time here. We returned to our room to get ready for the wedding that we went to Sofia for to find the cleaners had turned the room upside down. They had pulled the sofa out and the larger lady with short hair yelled at us because there were crumbs from our children eating biscuits. She was very rude and refused to leave so that we could get ready. This made us late for the wedding. And it left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. My husband complained. And it was explained to us that they just want us to keep the room tidy. It was tidy there were just a few biscuit crumbs on the sofa and floor. We paid for house keeping and it was unreasonable of the cleaners to expect to clean already clean rooms. The fact that we were shouted out by the cleaner is outrageous. The lady with the short hair is a liability. You cannot shout and be rude to guests over crumbs on the floor and sofa. I don’t want to penalise the rest of the team for one hostile cleaner. The rest of the staff were wonderful, friendly and accommodating. The outside area is beautiful especially at night. Lots of fairy lights. The staff are easy going and there is a play area in the gardens including a huge trampoline. There is a well which is covered so just beware to watch young children. The pool looks nice but is deep and cold. It would have been nice if it was heated but in September it was too cold to enjoy. Food is good and room service was great. Overall it was a comfortable experience and cost effective.

The hotel is a cold was relic, which I would certainly not book had I had the choice. The lobby is huge and empty, and the rooms spread over numerous floors, sparcely decorated, giving you a cold and dreary feeling. The views over the dark city and sweeping, but the location is not central and did not offer anything to orient yourself. There is a quite good restaurant with local cuisine nearby. Sofia itself is worth a visit, the centre is quite interesting and the immense cathedral extraordinaty - worth a visit for its own shake.

|1.61km from city centerWe stayed here for a couple nights whilst exploring Sofia. This a perfect and cute little hotel, purely somewhere to sleep for the night. If you want fancy, stay in the centre. But what do you need on a city break? You’re exploring the whole time! It’s simple and effective and budget friendly, it was half the price of the flights and less than our airport parking! (Paid £50 for two nights). Sofia is very cheap to eat and drink so you just can’t go wrong. The staff were friendly on arrival and check out, and they let us keep our bags after check out when we had a late flight. Not too far from the centre, we walked the first day but after realising it’s £2 for all day on the metro, we stuck to the metro. 30 minutes walking, or maybe 6 minutes by metro. The airport is about half an hour away on the metro and no issues getting there or back. Smooth transport system! There’s a supermarket 3 minutes away which is handy for water and snacks. If walking at night, I will say stick to the main road side, as the other side of the hotel feels a little unsafe and dark. The rooms are small but practical, bathroom is a little smaller than I expected but it still worked. My only issue is I would say the room could of been cleaner when we checked in. I had to clean the toilet and sink with sanitiser as it was a little dirty. Take flip flops for showering as you are very close to the toilet when you shower and very close to the shower when you use the toilet. Shower gel provided smelt lovely and the hand sanitiser at reception! We had a brilliant time and would highly recommend the hotel and stay again should we ever take another trip to Sofia.

|2.84km from city centerI stayed in the hotel for about 10 days. The single room was small but pleasant, with the caveat that the bed was SUPER SMALL. It was barely big enough for a single person, even smaller than the twin size - something important to keep in mind when booking. Another unexpected surprise - the hotel does not provide basic toiletries (soap and shampoo), so come prepared. I want to add here that there WAS a hand soap dispenser but I don't think that you can use hand soap for anything else but hands. You get one big towel and one small towel, changed fresh every day, plan your bath time accordingly. While the staff is friendly and helpful, many of them don't speak English or have very limited vocabulary. The hotel does provide breakfast but from the feedback from other guests I did not think to try it out so I can't say anything about its quality. The area around the hotel is calm and quiet with good public transport. The metro station is a few minute walk along the boulevard, there are a couple of trolley bus lines not too far either and the biggest arena is within walking distance. There are a few restaurants with good food and good prices but they are well hidden, make sure to do your research beforehand (or ask the hotel staff). The biggest disadvantage for me (big enough to discourage me visiting the country again) - smoking is tolerated pretty much everywhere, there were groups of people smoking at the entrance at all times. The hotel could do better protecting its customers suffering from severe asthma and other respiratory conditions.

The room was superb, though there seemed to be a bit of an issue with the plumbing…a bit of an unpleasant odour. Housekeeping came daily and were very thorough and there’s a room turndown, not something you see everywhere these days. The rooftop bar is very popular so do book, even as a guest of the hotel. The cocktails are very good, the menu is merely a guide: if you have a favourite, ask for it, they may well be able to make it for you. I also had a massage at the spa. First class!

|1.39km from city centerWe spent only one night in one of the ”panorama” rooms so this review is resticted to just those things that left an impression. The room itself is very large, being divided into three areas: a living area, bedroom and bathroom. Arguably there is also a separate hallway in front of the main door. Note however that only the bathroom is divided from the rest of the room by its own door. Everything was very clean and mostly comfortable. There was both a shower cabin and a separate bathtub, and a large selection of bathroom toiletries was provided. So far so good. It was clear that the hotel was not busy at all during the period between Christmas and new year, but despite that, there was an excellent selection of things for breakfast, hot and cold, healthy and not so healthy, together with decent coffee from a machine. One thing I didn't like, though, was that the oranges were just cut into quarters and not peeled. There is a balcony where you could take your breakdast if the weather is a bit warmer. When we arrived in the room, it was very, very warm to the point of being very uncomfortable. There are two air conditioning controls in different places in the room, and we turned them down to the lowest possible temperature (marked as 10 degrees on the control) and turned the fan speed up to maximum but it made absolutely no difference. There was still warm air coming out of the vents. The only option to cool the room was to open the windows and turn off the aircon. This of course makes it rather noisy, since the hotel is located in the city centre. This lack of effective aircon is a serious problem and given the price of the room, it should be working properly. Other people have complained about this in their reviews; the hotel really needs to do something about it, because it seriously discourages us from coming to this hotel again, especially during the summer - and we are regularly in Bulgaria every summer. Certain other things could use some attention from the hotel. The pillows on the bed are filled with some rubbery substance that provides no support and is very uncomfortable to sleep on. There seems to be no alternative available. There is a minibar in the room with items priced as high as you would expect, and when you check in, they insist that you pay a Lv50. deposit against use of the minibar, which is refunded when you check out - provided that they've checked that you haven't used anything. This is the first hotel where I've ever had to do that. The staff on reception, especially on checkout, were mechanical and not pleasant to deal with. I don't know if it's just a lack of confidence in English but it really doesn't feel great to deal with such robotic people and it is neither a good first or last contact with the hotel. The room has a safe and slippers are provided but no bathrobe. Also no iron to iron out the creases in your clothes that they've got from being in a suitcase for hours. Still ended up going to town to eat and have a look around so would have been just as easy, and a bit cheaper, if I would have picked a city hotel.
The room was two single beds and nothing much else included, reasonably clean but still expensive bearing in mind it is Bulgaria. Fine for late arrival and short stay if booked early.

Our first night we stayed in a standard small room ( I think it cost $46 maybe $50 with taxes etc )that was not satisfactory. The next day for $10 - $12 per day upgrade we moved into a double size spacious/suite room with 2 balconies !! Very nice to sit out on the balcony with the afternoon setting sun and to wash out a few cloth items and let the sun dry them. Neither of the rooms had shower curtains in the bathrooms. When i enquired about this I was told this was done because of covid. Hhmmm not sure how a shower curtain has any bearing on covid ? We stayed a total of 7 nights and only once, after I called down to the front desk, did a chamer maid come up and take out the garbage and change the towels. To be fair my girlfriend has a habit of spreading all her things all over the 2 rooms so we hesitated to make a fuss. I can imagine a maid being shocked to walk in and not know what to do in all the mess. Breakfast cost extra and was only ok but enough to start the day. There was a large flat screen TV which we never turned on, there was no safe deposit box in the room but we were able to leave our valuables downstairs at the front desk. There are other hotels also nearby that are probably more renovated and modern and most likely cost a little more. On our next trip we most likely will see about other options. The staff was friendly and helpful. I guess it depends on what your expectations are but for us it worked.

|7.22km from city centerGreat one night stay. Me and my mate wanted somewhere to bed down before hiking up Vitosha and this place was perfect. Krasimir was fantastic. We arrived late after a 3 hour journey from Kazanlak and hadn’t eaten so Krasimir asked the restaurant next door if they could cook us some food even though they stopped serving at 9:30pm. Service and food at the restaurant was excellent. We also had breakfast there the next morning. Although we were due to check out at 12 we were able to leave our bags at reception for the day whilst we hiked up to Boyana waterfall. On our return, Krasimir kindly booked us a taxi to head back into the central part of town. Really helpful with it being our first time in Sofia and our Bulgarian being very limited. Thankyou Krasimir & Villa Boyana for your excellent hospitality.

He is incredibly friendly and interesting in conversation. He is also very knowledgeable of Bulgaria's history and attractions and very happy to share his insights and recommendations.
