I was dreading our arriving at this hotel ( my husband booked it) as I had read the terrible reviews on TripAdvisor. The room was very nice , it was on the 3rd floor up a steep staircase and across a balcony outside to get to our room... The room was huge ,had 4 windows in it as it was on the corner of the building, lovely and light so we could see the snow falling. The room was clean bright and lovely and warm with 3 central heating radiators. There were 4 beds in the room and only 2 of us. Little kitchen area Kettle & coffee machine. Nice compact bathroom ,lots of lovely white towels. Would have liked a chair in the room rather than having to sit on the bed. We stayed 2 nights as we were at the Boat Show. The Hotel was 2 minutes away from the Tube station, very handy for transport out and about . Near to the big wheel and the River..lovely The Hotel is in the Old Town which gets very busy at night time with people in the bars ,restaurants and clubs. One of the clubs is at street level under the Hotel. It was quite noisy from the music from the club. Some Earplugs sorted that out. Not impressed that the stairwell stank of cigarette smoke. Apart from that NO complaints at all. Very pleasant stay and will be back again .

I was absolutely thrilled about the whole process from booking until leaving. I have booked for 2 nights and had an apartment towards the road. However, after the booking I've received several WhatsApp messages from the hotel management. One was a "thank you note", 2 others contained videos with exact and detailed information on the rooms and several tools that were available to be used. Receiving that combined with a personal message, was rather unique. Before my arrival I wasn't sure about the parking situation, so I called the hotel. The hotel manager waited for my arrival and guided me to the parking lot, that the hotel has (max. 5 guests can park there). With that the parking was easy to be proceeded. The check-in was absolutely easy and friendly. Arriving in the room I found it in exact the conditions, that was shown in the videos. The apartment is equipped with a sofa, 2 chairs in the living room area, a full functioning and equipped kitchen, a separate bathroom with shower and toilet and a separate bedroom. On my arrival the place was absolutely clean with a nice smell, as they place a little room perfume, which has a pleasant aroma. The balcony easily has place or 2+ persons to sit on, A little table is places in the living room, it's easy to be carried out. Check out is as easy as check-in - you just leave the key in the kitchen on the desk and close the door behind you. If you have the room to the street side - once you are on the balcony or the window is open, it's a bit loud due to traffic. So maybe on booking you might like to ask for a room towards the backyard. On the balcony there is also an astray, so that you can smoke, if you want to. Smoking inside the place obviously is prohibited. From my perspective I can strongly recommend the place, as value for money is perfect, equipment is very good and staff is very helpful indeed.

We recently used Am Zault for our wedding reception and this included accommodation for over 25 guests from the UK. The very complex setting-up arrangements were handled impeccably by Felicia Schwetling, the banqueting manager. Although my wife is German (hence the German wedding), I also had to deal with Felicia and her English is excellent. Throughout the entire process, she was helpful, personable, flexible and incredibly efficient. The Am Zault staff were also a joy to work with. All of Felicia's team said how much they enjoyed working for her (a sign of excellent management) and they were certainly well trained, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast at Am Zault is a great experience. There is a deluxe version of the classic continental breakfast but they also serve a good English breakfast. All the food is fresh which is often not the case at a hotel breakfast. The rooms are bright, clean and very comfortable - OK, I had the bridal suite but I visited other rooms and they were all high quality. My only sadness was that Am Zault has recently changed ownership. When we started our set-up arrangements a year ago, it was a family owned country house hotel. But it was recently bought by the Dormero chain who took over nine hotels at the same time. The ensuing systems chaos was completely predictable and could have been avoided by any competent head office team. Unfortunately, their head office team is less than competent. The new owners seem to have a love of the more 'plastic', Disney-style of image and the staff were unanimously embarrassed by their new uniforms which are set off by bright red ties, shoes and braces (suspenders in the U.S). This makes them look like circus clowns - and they hate it! The new company image features the word "Fancy" and all their communications from emails to company notices in the hotel, urge you to "stay fancy", or wish you a "fancy stay". I might expect this image at a Disney-world location but not at a high-quality hotel. However, despite the new ownership, the system problems, and the terrible low-class image, the staff worked hard to ensure that our reception was an enormous success and that our guests all had a comfortable stay. Oh, and by the way, the value was excellent!

Centrally located on a very busy junction (the excellent double glazing blocking out any traffic noise) a couple of tram stops from the Hauptbahnhof , a 20 minute bus ride to Dusseldorf Airport, a couple of U-Bahn stops or a 15 minute stroll to the amazing Altstadt and Rhine, and with the Frankenheim Brewery right next door! A smallish (30 or so rooms) quirky hotel with modern, well-equipped and spotlessly clean rooms, at a very reasonable cost. A small breakfast room on the ground floor offers a huge selection of items. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Avoid the lift if you are at all claustrophobic as it really is tiny! This was my first visit - and will definitely not be my last - to the amazing, vibrant, lively city of Dusseldorf and this hotel was an ideal base to explore it from.

I stayed here on a business trip and on arrival we were meet with a friendly reception. My room was apartment like out on its own in the courtyard area, it was spacious, warm, clean, quiet. It had everything you’d need for a short or long stay. The breakfast bar was great too, service and food was more than expected and there is a shop across the road for snacks etc. very convenient. I would definitely return, thanks to the staff for the great stay. This hotel takes card, but a tip for travelers Düsseldorf is very cash based so take some out at the airport!

Germany’s accommodations, Düsseldorf included is expensive and we were happy to find this guesthouse at that very fair price, very well located. We could walk to the Altstadt and were really close to the main train station. The U-bahn/subway is just around the corner, we could go everywhere in no time! No car passes on the street so it is always calm and around you have all commodities: u-bahn, train station, bakeries, restaurants, bars and shops. The guesthouse is simple but very clean and it is a pleasure to meet the owners, they are so nice and helpful! We had internet, TV, sink and shower in our room. We shared the wc with only 3 other rooms (if fully booked), and it was very clean. We got tea and coffee one afternoon in our room, offered by the owner, it was very nice. We enjoyed our stay at the guesthouse ! And we recommend it! :)

I spend a night at Düsseldorf and because airport is so reachable from centre were rather there than in airport hotel. Found out this small b&b and have absolutely nothing to compain. Was spending night at the top floor and at least there was so peaceful and quiet. Room was clean and really pretty with pink walls and breakfast so good. Perhaps I’d prefer little less soft bed but that was also okay. There is lots of stairs, that should be mentioned. Host was very helpful with everything.

On arrival here I was greeted by Klaus, a really friendly German fellow who spoke great English (at this point my German was non-existent). He was really helpful and got me checked in quickly... just what you want when you've been traveling for several hours. That friendliness carried on through the rest of my 9 day stay. The breakfast team were always smiling and happy to help, even though I couldn't speak their language at the beginning, they spoke flawless English. Dennis always greeted me with a smile and a friendly hello and I really felt welcome. The hotel was clean and tidy, my room was nicely done each night, and the mattress was comfortable. Breakfast was good as I really like fruits, yoghurt, cereal and all that stuff so I could put my own together. If you're a cooked breakfast fan, this place might not be for you. If you're a European cold meats and cheeses for breakfast type person, you're well catered for here. I couldn't really fault Barbarossa and for the money it was great. It's super easy to get to the Messe Düsseldorf on the train in the morning too. The main thing that I will remember about my stay here though was Klaus and his colleagues. Always friendly, always laughing, helpful, funny, just a generally lovely person. He certainly went above and beyond and thats what made my stay in a strange town with a load of people I didn't know. If I ever own a hotel... I'm coming to seal Klaus away so we can give the same service to our guests. Thanks again Barbarossa. See you next year.

Buy you ticket on the tram the ticket machines have English as well which made it easier. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming. Beds comfortable, bathroom good and a nice continental breakfast for 8 euros. There is parking behind the hotel which is free but has limited spaces, alternatively there are additional spaces in the underground car park which is 8 euros for the night. Over all very pleasant

Every winter, we like to go away as a couple and leave the kids behind! This year it was at Hotel Favor in Dusseldorf. It is a small, ‘boutique’ hotel with around 36 rooms over 6 floors. It is at one end of the city’s shopping district and right next to the ‘old town’. Although all the main sights are within walking distance, there are lots of public transport options around, and many options for restaurants. The hotel has a modern, up-to-date, and well-kept feel. Everything was clean, with lovely thick carpet in the rooms. The ‘premium’ room we booked had a mini-bar with some soft-drinks and a beer that is included in the price and re-stocked daily. The room overlooked the square and the lovely Christmas market when we stayed. It was quiet, with minimal noise coming into the room, however the market started shutting down at around 9pm. Breakfast was a nice spread, with hot & cold options, and a relaxed affair. On the Saturday morning there was a great celloist paying some wonderful music. I’m glad we left the kids behind! Having stayed in a lot of chain hotels, like Hiltons, etc, I was very happy we didn’t do so this time. At the larger hotel chains, sometimes rooms can be dated, and not well-kept. Hotel Favor was perfect throughout, spacious, and I thought good value in comparison. One tip: we got a taxi to the hotel and spent a bit of time in traffic in the roads near to the hotel. I suggest getting out of the taxi early to walk or getting the train which we did on the way back. With trains it is around 30 mins from the airport, and with taxi around 20 mins. The taxi cost 32 Euros, and the trains around 6 euros for the two of us.

This is one of the best budget hotels I have stayed in on a city break in Europe. The staff, the rooms, the cleanliness, the breakfast, the location, nothing could be faulted. On the first morning we asked if they had English breakfast tea which they didn't, but the guy said he would get us some for the following morning. We told him that was very kind but not to bother but lo and behold, the following morning there was English breakfast tea - that is beyond good service, that is excellent service, and in all things nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were very happy, smiley and very friendly. The location is great, within 10 minutes walk of the centre of Düsseldorf and no more than 20 minutes to the old town and waterfront. Very comfortable beds and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Lovely modern bathrooms with great power showers and again, spotlessly clean. If I had to pick one thing that could be improved it would be the towels as they felt a little 'tired' and not as thick and fluffy as they could be, but that is being very picky. I would definitely stay here again and cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you guys for a great stay. Disliked · Nothing. From the warm welcome when we arrived to the cheery Auf wiedersehen when we left, everything was spot on.

The wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in December at a cost of around £265 euros, this was room only. The hotel is located 650 metres from Dusseldorf Central Station which is around an 8-minute walk. We travelled here from Dusseldorf airport which confusingly has two rail stations. From arrivals we headed downstairs following signs for local trains S11. After a few minutes walk you are at the station and the fare is 2.80 euros for the 5 stops, 12-minute ride. Other routes are available. A ticket machine is located on the platform, it may be prudent to buy a one day or two-day pass here if intending to use public transport in the future. A two-day pass for two people is around 20 euros. Ticket machines can be set to English, they take a bit of figuring out and the ones that we used wouldn’t take our credit card so we used cash. We arrived at the hotel at around 6 pm. There is a phone number to ring as no one was there, be sure to have a charged mobile that’s capable of ringing German numbers. Perhaps an email with instructions prior to arrival would have been better? We showed ourselves to our room and we were very pleased with it. It was spotlessly clean, had two single beds together with comfy white bedding. There was also a large TV with many channels and a coffee maker. The bathroom was very clean with a decent shower. Room service was good. As the wife was unpacking, I ventured downstairs to find the free beer fridge that other reviewers spoke of. I was disappointed to find a fridge with only two beers and a box suggesting bad karma if a 2-euro donation per drink not made. It seems that we missed the boat for the free beer offer. Although there are some bars and restaurants nearby the main large bar area, known as the world’s longest bar (street name is Ratinger Strabe) is 2 km away near the river. To walk here is 25 minutes or there are many public transport options (we used Google maps to navigate which shows all bus/tram/train routes in this area). On the first night we didn’t have a bus pass so took an Uber which cost 6 euros, a taxi was 10 euros on the return journey. The hotel website boasts of a free travel card but when we asked for ours, we were disappointed to be told that the offer had expired in August 3 months prior to our trip. It wasn’t so much about the 30 euros but had we known we could have easily have bought travel passes at the airport and planned ahead. On the first morning we had breakfast at a cost of 7.50 euros each. It was mainly cereal, coffee, bread, ham cheese and hard-boiled eggs. No offer of eggs cooked to order as previous reviewers had, perhaps we were just unlucky or this has now also changed?

Hotel am Hofgarten is situated on a quiet street, a pleasant stroll, through the park, from the Altstadt, or alternatively one stop on the U-bahn or a couple of stops on the tram. It is convenient for the airport, a short tram and then a bus direct to the terminal. A relatively new initiative is free public transport as a guest of the hotel, which is very convenient and allows you to hop on and off all buses, trams etc - so you can get to the airport for free. This hotel was good value for money, the right side of town for the airport and very easily reached. We have stayed in a number of hotels in this area of town and are very happy to recommend this one, we will be back on our next visit to D-dorf.

The hotel Cascade is a very good hotel in Dusseldorf, located in reasonable distance from the airport. I and my wife stayed for one night only due to visiting 50 years of boot Dusseldorf. The distance to the messe-exhibition is only few stops by the tramp (10 - 15 min) and the station is about 100 mtr from the hotel The hotel is nice, clean and the room was very comfortable offering queen size bed or two single beds as per our wish. The bathroom we have found very clean with all necessary toiletries. The breakfast was delicious as well. The price we paid was approx. 127 Euro per night incl. breakfast for two. The hotel has an own car park but the only problem is to enter it due to very narrow gate / passage while you have a wide car. Other option is to park your car on the street in the vicinity (free of charge) and if you are lucky you will found the place but do not forget the city is very crowded, the cars are everywhere. However, if you are going for the any exhibition it is really much better to keep the car somewhere near the hotel and take the tramp which will bring you to the main North Entrance (last station). I can highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Lady Astor hotel last night and didn't realise until today that we had actually booked a superior double and ended up in a standard double. Room was spotlessly clean, but felt quite poky due to the layout, especially as the double bed was up against the wall on one side. Bathroom was very small, and the shower cubicle was small too. The bed was hard, only had one flat pillow each, so if you like a nice comfy bed, definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel. On the plus side, there were 2 lovely tiny cakes, nuts and free water. No tea making facilities though. We went for breakfast across the road at the Sir Astor hotel, but were unable to have breakfast immediately, as the dining room was full. We waited 10 mins, then got told it would be a further 15 mins wait. We went back to the hotel room, and after half an hour tried again. This time we were able to get in. Breakfast was ok. Mainly consisted of a cold buffet of breads, pastries, fruit, meat and cheese. There was a hot option which was scrambled eggs with or without bacon. Hotel looked lovely on the website, but we were disappointed with our stay. If we had been given the correct room, we might have written a different review.

When I booked the hotel I was a bit apprehensive as the price was so low. However I had nothing to fear and on alighting from the tram I could see the hotel a few metres away. The single room was very spacious and offered a large comfortable bed with all the usual amenities - HD TV with a multitude of channels, large opening windows, wardrobe and lots of space. The downside in the room was the bathroom was very small although it was well appointed and the shower was powerful. The lift was very small and slow, but apart from these two negatives the rest was very positive. The staff were very friendly and at breakfast were always on hand to offer assistance. The breakfast buffet itself was excellent and was included in the room price 4 tram routes, a Metrobus and various other bus routes stop at the terminus just outside the hotel and will get you to the Hauptbahnhof in 15 minutes or to the shopping area or Altstadt in 20 minutes. At weekend they operate 24 hours. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly stop there again if the price is similar.

Stayed at Moxy Dusseldorf South and paid 142 Euros for one night in a large room for 3 persons.  Room: The room was very spacious. It is about double size than the standard room. It was very clean and new. The bed was super comfy. There was enough space. The design was good, even though it would have been good to have a table in the living room. The bathroom was functional. The sofa in the living room could turn into a bed. Whilst the bed was very comfortable, the bed couch was hard as stone. There are no real amenities in the room (no coffee making set, no glasses, toilet amenities). This is not an issue, just to be aware of. Good soundproof.  Hotel: Very nice design and layout in the "lobby". Nice atmosphere and nice Moxy principles, it all worked out fine and very positive impression.  Location: In Dusseldorf South. I did not need to be in the area, but there is a U Bahn and some shops and restaurants in the vicinity. Parking is 10 Euros.  Personnel: Everyone was very friendly and helpful.  Breakfast: This was a pleasant surprise. It was 12 Euros and a very good and high-quality selection. The scrambled egg maker was really cool. I really recommend taking the breakfast. All in all, was very satisfied with my stay!

First reaction was: "Oh!, big road and tramway just outside! Instant skepticism! But that was never a problem at all, no noise inside. Small private hotel, owners did everything themselves. They were "over the top" helpful and very nice. We stayed there for 8 nights for a vacation/visiting Boot-2019. We had a room with "Winter garden" and I would recommend that. Spacious room. Room was very clean and the bed was perfect for me. Most hotel beds are too soft, some too hard but this was just like home, perfect. Still that is a matter of taste of course. Breakfast was very good and I am sure that if you have special requests they will do their utmost to accommodate you. The photos on their website and on Hotels.com are accurate. Rooms are just as shown on photos. The hotel oozes of welcoming comfort. If you want a big international hotel with piano-bar and boutique styling this is not for you! The hotel is situated in the outskirts of Düsseldorf but the hotel issued us with tram/bus passes for the duration of our stay so we could use trams/tube/buses for free. Very practical. Just a few minutes with tram to center of town. Smart to open Google maps in nav. mode if using a taxi to the hotel. There are some one-way streets to be navigated and many taxi drivers do not know the way. Negative things? Well you are bound to feel sad when you leave because leaving feels like parting with friends. And you would most likely start to speculate about finding excuses for a new visit!

I was going to stay at Hotel Batavia 17 - 19 April. Due to Covid19, hotels in Duesselford/Germany have been advised by government that they are no longer allowed to let tourists stay. The hotel proactively contacted me and even though I had booked the nonrefundable option, offered to let me cancel free of charge with a full refund. Friends who had booked other hotels weren't so lucky - both groups had to initiate contact with their respective hotels, one was offered a free reschedule to later on this year (reasonable), another was told that they would lose their money... Had a quick look and there are still so many hotels in the area that will allow you to make a booking (often with non-refundable rooms)... The experience gives me confidence that Hotel Batavia places importance on safety of guests, good customer service and ... well, decency. When I next travel to Duesseldorf, I will definitely want to book a room at the hotel again!

I chose this smallish hotel for its location. This name of the hotel refers to the fact that it is just south of the Königsallee street, which is home to a lot of shops and restaurants. This also means that the old town, the river promenade and the central park areas are close to the hotel, and it is not a long walk to the main railway station. All this suited my plans very well. I found the staff members pleasant and helpful, both upon arrival and later. The room was perhaps a bit old fashioned in design, but it was functional and fit all my needs. This hotel offers a continental breakfast for a modest additional fee. I especially enjoyed the scrambled eggs and the fresh and tasty bread rolls. One small drawback was that the free wifi was slow, and my tablet went offline frequently when I tried to use this service. However, I will certainly consider this hotel if I go to Düsseldorf again.

Basic hotel, very clean room & bathroom. Towels could be softer. Renovated sufficient bathroom with shower gel dispenser. Smoke free room. We were on 2nd floor. It's currently very warm and no ventilator, no airco, which would help lots to cool the room a bit. Most important to us when booking was reading it was clean and it really was. Hotel is outside city centre ;there's a tram stop 2min walk away and the Aldi across the road. Off road parking behind hotel. Simple but sufficient breakfast for only 6 euros.
