Bethlehem …the name invokes images of Biblical times in the Mideast: a donkey carrying a pregnant virgin, which unwittingly unleashed all the holy schitte that has unfolded in that region over the last 20-plus centuries ~ but now in PA shines on in the garb of a hulking, old steel mill in an East-American town that was once polluted beyond your wildest nightmares. Today’s Bethlehem in PA is quite different. Chic, artsy, quaint, historic, old-world, moving. Seated on a hillock above the river that flows through the City, the historic, quietly graceful grandeur of the Sayer Mansion speaks (yells ?) of the lifestyle that once flourished amongst these hills. Its original owner was the vice president and general manager of Bethlehem Iron Company, the aforementioned, former-coal-belching behemoth that rusts silently just a mile to the east, and is the unmistakable focal point of the surrounding landscape. The Sayre Mansion was built in the early 1850s, as a private home. It was occupied by that family till the owner’s death in 1907, and was beautifully restored and reincarnated in its current form as an excellent Bed & Breakfast that is featured on the National Register of Historic Houses of America. Located in the wealthy Fountain Hill neighborhood, it commands a wide view across the city and valley… and the rusting stacks once managed by its owner, which eventually became Bethlehem Steel…. Charming, intriguing. Bed: The Mansion has expansive, well-appointed and luxurious rooms: 22 “rooms” and 1 “suite”, on the two upper levels, all of which show no sign of the traditional hotel room. They reflect the comfort and grandeur of a luxury home, which lulls one into feeling they are in their own home, only better. Heck, they have a Tesla charging station onsite: which speaks of the clientele they cater to. We were there in late winter, and managed to just afford a room (#24) on our budget. And the size of that room explains why it was affordable: a bit smaller, though with a comfortable sitting “nook” that overlooks the front garden ~ and aforementioned ex-smoky rust-stacks. And a small, well maintained, adequately fitted and clean en-suite bath with a shower stall, featuring well maintained, antique tile floors. The best room in the house, though, is the Conservatory, located on the third floor, which features a fantastic, glass greenhouse roof over its entirety…. Just stunning. (I’d have a hard time sleeping there without blinders, though.) Breakfast: wow ! Just great… really !! A hearty, unlimited buffet with lots of fresh fruit, juices, breads, pastries, eggs and meats to heap onto your pile, and also a selection of hot, fresh omelets, or preparations made to order, and jug-loads of fresh coffee. I do remember my coffee was good, but not hot enough. But a great way to start the day. All in all: a very pleasant, comfortable two nights…. an excellent establishment. Probably a bit North of the median, but if

After arriving at the hotel, I was told that there was no non-smoking room. The corridor room smelled bad. Finally, I could only put an instrument similar to the air freshener in the room.

I've had nothing but great experiences when working with this Candlewood Suites and their staff. We reserve rooms for our visiting artists, musicians, staff, and other visitors and always hear great things from them. The hotel is in a great location, the staff is always friendly and attentive, the price is great and the hotel is clean, sanitized, and safe. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bethlehem.

A nice place to spend an evening for some activities we had in Allentown which is less than a 10 minute drive away. Check-in was a breeze. The room was clean and comfortable, exactly what is expected. There were an abundance of outlets throughout the room and the decor was updated. In the morning, there are some breakfast items for purchase. Also, there is a small pool inside which we did not get to use. While we did not enjoy it, the first floor had a lounge with a TV and there were several groups enjoying take out pizza in that area. The hotel is in an area near the airport and near shops as well.

Thank you Adora and your staff for keeping the spaces safe and clean during these hard times. My family and I always love staying here. Your staff is great, facility is safe and clean with all the covid concerns, you do go that extra mile and it is appreciated.

No breakfast, but there is a fast food restaurant opposite to eat breakfast, ice cream is delicious. The hotel is close to the airport and belongs to that kind of motel. The door is facing the street, a little scared.

We arrived ~11PM the night before an early flight. Check in was fast & easy. Enjoyed the fruit infused water at the front desk after a long car ride there. Room was average, no complaints. Our flight was at 7am, so I assumed our family of 5 would Uber to the airport since the shuttle doesn't start until 6 or 7 in the morning. The woman at the front desk was extremely accommodating and had the shuttle ready for us at 5:45am. She also helped us get our car all set to leave there for the week (for free) and arranged the shuttle upon our return. She was extremely helpful (I wish I could provide her name, however I don't recall what it was). Thanks for the great stay!

In Today's pandemic environment, cleaning to protect one's health is paramount. Upon checking in you realize this is priority one with this property. The room reflects the same high standard of cleaning as the lobby all without sacrificing or compromising the services and needs of their guests. Bed comfort will guarantee a good night's sleep. Property is 5 minutes from the airport, 2 minutes from Route 22 the main road to get you where you want to go. All at a price that will meet your budget.
