0.55km from Bubu Fiaschetteria ToscanaWe arrived at Hotel Ideale after a long hot walk from the train station. Loredana welcomed us, gave us cold water (much needed and appreciated) shared that our room would be available in an hour (2 hours before normal check-in time!), stored our bags in a nook in the tiny lobby adjacent to the front desk and sent us to an affordable family-run restaurant named Amo Pizza around the corner from the hotel. After eating Amo's tasty pizza and partaking in a glass of wine, we returned to the hotel cooled off and ready for check-in. The room was an average sized hotel room (for a European boutique hotel) consisting of a queen sized bed, a closet with several hangers, shelves to fit any foldable items, one luggage rack and long and narrow bathroom with a pedestal sink, a toilet and a shower. What the room did not have was air conditioning. We were a bit confused as Expedia listed AC as one of the room's amenities but didn't complain or seek any explanation at the time as the room had a fan and was already a pleasant temperature. Pro-Tip: Book your room directly with the hotel. Apparently, because Expedia charges the hotel a fee per booking, those cheap rooms you see on the site are in fact the ones that do not have AC. (We booked the least expensive option as we were only staying in Milan for one night) Loredana told us that booking directly with the hotel will be comparable in price and will ensure you get AC on those hot Summer days. Loredana also recommended an area by the Naviglio Grande which was filled with restaurants, vendors, and a nice mix of locals and tourists. While I forget the name of the area it was a lovely scene and a great place to have some lunch and do some people watching. My husband has visited Milan many times and had never heard of this place. It was a great way to experience something new in Milan together. (Thanks Loredana!) Overall, our stay at Hotel Ideale was very pleasant!
