Researched to send review to manager b4 posting but unable to find contact info. Marriott Kansas City Airport ROOM 706: May 21-23, 2022 $473.12 – two nights (including expensive water and items from store to eat in room) Room as though hadn’t been used in some time – dust. Shower would not drain for quite some time and then overflowed into bathroom. Did not notice as had eyes closed to wash face. Then heard a gurgling sound and looked at drain – it eventually drained but not until had flooded outside shower onto floor. Used many towels to cover water so would not slip and fall. In lavatory were some kind of raised smudges so cleaned sink upon check in. There were two refrigerators in the room – not sure why. The larger of the two had a great deal of frost in the freezer. The smaller one top was dirty; inside had fingerprint smudges. Cleaned both refrigerators as well. Overall, the room was not very clean. I cleaned everything in the room that would have been touched by hands or feet. That includes the toilets. There were two towels that had dead winged insect of some kind on them; they were used to mop up water overflow from stopped up drain in shower. I arrived very late in the early morning hours. I had asked for a quiet room. Apparently, the people on the other side, #704 maybe were quite noisy? Must have been opening and closing the barn door until even earlier wee hours of the morning. What a terrible concept for a hotel room unless some type of bumper to prevent the noise. I got very little rest that night after travelling from Florida beginning at about 1:45 PM EST. The amenities? Very lacking. Not even a shower cap. For the price of the room, one would expect better. In addition, not even water was offered as an amenity: $2.50/bottle is steep. After traveling one wants good clean water. No room service. So, $3.00 for a tasteless muffin. The website indicates the following: “Savor a meal from the privacy of your guest quarters thanks to our convenient room service options.” No bellhop. An engineer was called to assist checking out. ROOM 806: May 28-29, 2022 ($205 plus taxes) – one night $242.84 (including $19.54 for food to take to room & expensive food/water for room) More issues with this room – it was even dirtier and again seemed as though had not been used in quite some time. The hangers were covered in dust. I was too tired to clean them to hang my clothes on. Upon walking in the room had the most musty smell – the smell of sour water causing my nose to run. The bag for the hair dryer as was the hair dryer itself very dusty. Someone else’s hair was on the sheet of one bed. Again, I had to clean the sink. In fact, a total cleaning of room. Broken lampshade. Again, no bellhop. Scanty amenities. No room service. Most of the staff were great. The shuttle drivers were very courteous and helpful. I do not think that the rates charged were appropriate for the services offered, the amenities, n

I understand renovations, but there needs to be more coordination with your contractors. You had me in Room #207 when the room directly above me was the specific room being torn apart and drilled in all day during my stay. I wasn't planning to be in the room all day, but found myself sick with a sinus infection and the constant loud drilling was an absolute nightmare. Also, when I booked the hotel, it said that ONLY the lobby was being renovated -- I see that this is updated now to reflect renovations of the whole property, but you really could have provided more notice upfront to guests. I would have stayed elsewhere if you had, e.g., I decided not to stay at the neighboring Hilton precisely because there was notice that the parking lot would be unavailable. To be quite honest, I understand the need to make money but when it comes down to it, your reputation is all you have. Did it ever cross your mind to close entirely for a month or two to reemerge as a hotel properly put together, that's not an embarrassment to your name? It was a terrible experience and a waste of my earned Hilton points. I am feeling very done with Hilton and its family of brands after this.

I got a room for 3 days at first. I got it through booking.com and when you arrive, you are required to pay $100 deposit for damage which they take at the hotel. They have signes plasterd on the doors and at the front desk saying that in order to enter the building and be out in open areas, a mask is required. But guess what? The staff doesn't wear a mask and they most certainly do not require it from guest or visitors. After the first 3 days, I arranged for an additional 5 day stay because of limitations of transportation and I felt that if I stayed in my room, I'd be mostly fine. I paid for the 5 days and was required to pay an additional $100 to the hotel. They told me that the initial $100 would be refunded back to the card I used. I asked that if I am paying a second $100 can I get my room cleaned or be moved to a new room? The lady told me that I could not move to a new room and gave me a day that my room would be cleaned. I was too tired to demand a new room and trusted that what she said would be true. Also, I didn't really want to move anyway. I checked out yesterday and then about 8 hours later, I saw a charge of yet another $100 appear on my card. I called the hotel to find out and was told that the manager charged me $100 becasue the sheets and the pillow case was dirty. I explained all of this to the lady who answered and her reply was that I should have asked for new sheets as if I was supposed to make my own bed up with clean sheets before checking out. I will fight this with the credit card company because they are basically scamming me for the $100. Also, if you are very concerned about Covid and won't just be in your room most of the time, this is not the place for you to stay because they do not follow the mask mandate. They just have thte notices everywhere but do absolutely nothing to enforce it.

Stopped for one night on our road trip from Central Florida to Wyoming. We wanted to like this place but there were issues. The room itself was nice and spacious and the general location was good. But the highway noise was LOUD, and someone had obviously been in the room with a dog. There was dog hair on the carpet snd suspicious wet spots on the carpet. The coffee maker had not been cleaned after the previous guest. Pet friendly hotels should warn guests (what if one of us had been allergic) and consider having “pet free” rooms or floors.

Before the epidemic, I came to KC almost every year, and I stayed at this hotel every time. It is a minute drive from the airport 7-9, there is a shuttle, the environment is good, there are fewer places to eat around. Breakfast is normal Holiday Inn level, overall OK.

I really wanted to be okay with this hotels treatment of myself and my family but I just can’t in good conscience not warn others about our experience that almost cost us our early morning flight traveling w two small children and a lot of baggage after a 2 1/2 week trip around MO and AR visiting relatives. Upon check in we were informed that there were no more early morning shuttles available. Mind you we needed a shuttle for 4/4:30 in the morning. We were very surprised. I’ve never had to reserve a shuttle more than 24 hours in advance before. There were no alerts to this on the website or while I was booking that the shuttle was “first come first serve” or that you should reserve it more than a day in advance if you want an early morning spot. The only reason we booked this hotel as it was expensive for what you get (and we have relatives that live near the airport) was bc of the shuttle. We didn’t want to inconvenience my family to drive us to the airport so early. There was another guest checking in along side us who was also pretty upset about the shuttle situation so the girl working the front desk gave us a discount on our nightly rate and then a number for a cab company that you could schedule pickups in advance with. She assured us it was good and reliable. I was not thrilled, but okay with this compromise. But pretty nervous about it as I had never used this particular service before. The beds were really comfy and so we slept well. Alarm went off in the morning and we got ready. The cab was supposed to call us when it pulled up at 4am. No call comes. Noticed my phone had sent a call to my voicemail marked as spam. Call the number back and the cabby is late. Okay, no big deal. We go ahead and walk down to the lobby. Thirty more minutes go by and no phone call. At this point I’m minor panicking. I’m looking at Ubers and there is a substantial wait. I go ahead and schedule one just in case even though this will mean that we will only have an hour to check in and get through security. At the KC airport you really need two hours. The guy at the counter of the hotel is watching me struggle with all of this. A woman comes down for her shuttle ride around 4:45. She asks why we don’t ride her shuttle with her? I tell her because all of the early morning shuttles were reserved. Finally the front desk guy tells us we can get on this one. And that no, not all of the shuttle rides were full. Just maybe the 4am one 😳. If that were true, why in the world wouldn’t the girl that was working the day before have mentioned to us that there were multiple other rides available if we wanted to wait til 4:15/4:30 WHATEVER?? The shuttle pulled up at about 10 til 5am and we scurry onto it. I cancel my Uber and have to pay for it anyways bc he was only 5 minutes out. We get to the airport and it’s super busy. We somehow jumped through the “special” line by pure dumb luck and were lucky enough that security let us ju

Indoor pool was ice cold and the 5 person sauna had jet-lag. The shuttle was nice, on time, and friendly. Secure parking lot with controlled gates We were VERY happy with our stay and the price point. We will come back again when we fly out again.

I booked this hotel as I have not stayed here previously and wanted to try it out. The GM Jeff checked us in and noted that we have been upgraded in our room, though it appeared to be in the room I booked online. He told us that to get to our room, we should go outside to the parking garage elevators, go to the fourth floor, cross over to other elevators to get to the sixth floor where our room was located. We were surprised by this, and soon realized that if we just take the elevator right by our room straight down, we were at the elevators right next to the lobby, where we were checked in. Why we were given these bizarre directions, we have no idea. When going to bed, we noticed that there was dried blood on one of the pillowcases, along with an old stain on the comforter. We got rid of those and called the front desk to let them know about this. In their embarrassment, they comped us one night. The concierge service was OK but on the day of discharge after texting in the morning about extending the checkout time, I texted about getting help for getting our bags to our car and never got a response, so I contacted the front desk myself. A disappointing and gross experience and not really sure this hotel is worth the value that is placed on it. No idea why the GM gave these odd directions; is it so we don’t come back again?

With all of the hotel choices near the Kansas City airport, I should have been able to make a better choice. We live in the KC metro area and were scheduled to fly out that morning, but after a number of delays our flight was canceled. We were booked on the same flight the following morning and decided to stay near the airport instead of going home since we'd used a car service to get to the airport and it just seemed like less hassle. We arrived at the hotel a little after noon and were told we couldn't check in until a room was cleaned. Given that checkout is at 11, I assumed that it wouldn't be all that long until a room was ready. I checked in with the gal at the front desk a couple of times and was told that she was waiting to hear from housekeeping. I asked if she couldn't initiate the contact and she indicated she'd do so, though never did. I even found the second floor cleaning crew who told me that all the rooms on the second floor were cleaned. Normal check-in is at 3 and a little before 3 I was called to the front desk to check-in. I honestly can't see a valid business reason to keep people waiting in the lobby until 3 if there's a room ready. Thankfully, not every hotel does that. There certainly wasn't anything in the lobby on which we could spend money, with the possible exception of a pop machine. This forced wait is the primary, but not the only reason, I'll ever stay at one of these properties again. Calling the room a ”suite” is laughable. It appeared to be pretty much an average size motel room. I guess what made it a ”suite” was a curtain in the middle of the room that could be pulled to divide the bed area from the rest of the room. The curtain only pulled about 75% across the width of the room, no it's not like there's any sense of privacy on either side. Also, for some reason that evades logic, the TV is on the end of the room with the bed, so it's not like someone could watch TV without disturbing someone who is sleeping. The pillows were very, very soft and not suitable for side-sleepers. The towel were very thin and the water pressure very low. There were other minor deficiencies that, while not critical, show a significant lack of attention to detail and a failure of supervision. My apologies for not having photos to share. Thanks for reading. If you've found this to be helpful, I'll appreciate a thumbs up below.

We are finishing up a road trip of around 4,500 miles through eleven states. We have stayed at ten hotels, four of which were Holiday Inn Expresses, and this is, by far the worst not only Holiday Inn Express but the worst out of all of them. And, in fact, it's the worst hotel I can remember staying at in a very long time. When we checked in (2 rooms), I found the trash can in the bathroom sitting on the counter. Then my daughter called saying that there was something sticky all over the nightstand in her room and when she tried to call the front desk, she discovered that the phone didn't work. She also found popcorn on the floor in the room. She called them on her cell phone, and they said they'd send someone to clean and their excuse was that they were undergoing renovations. How in the heck do renovations impact the cleanliness of a room?About that time, the fire alarm went off. We were in the lobby, so we went outside and waited. Eventually the alarm stopped. We went inside and got in line to ask for a new room for my daughter. There was one lady helping a line of customers while some guy ran around like a chicken with its head cut off accomplishing nothing. After a while, he went to the other computer at the front desk, and we were able to talk to him. I found out later that he was the General Manager which I would never have guessed from his obvious lack of leadership ability or composure. We explained to him the situation and he said he'd sent someone to clean the room (Shouldn't that be done before the room is turned over to a customer?) but that the phone couldn't be repaired until Monday because Maintenance wasn't available on the weekends. He told us that we could have another room or could cancel the reservation. I though he was very condescending and rude. We opted for another room and then he told us that it would be on the fourth floor (dirty room was on the second floor) and that we'd have to carry our bags up because the elevators wouldn't work until the fire department got there and reset them. (I heard him later telling the firemen that arrived that he'd silenced the alarm. Shouldn't it be the fire department that makes sure the building is safe and gives the green light for people to reenter the premises?) We told him we could handle getting the luggage up the stairs and that we'd like to check out the new room. He gave us a key and we did so and found it to be satisfactory although the remote for the TV didn't work. (In the old room, the back of the remote was missing.) In my room, I later discovered that someone had written in pen on the arm of the sofa, an outlet was black from some sort of electrical issue that apparently caused arcing and the sink in the bathroom drained ridiculously slowly. Apparently housekeeping doesn't report maintenance needs to management or maybe they do, and management just doesn't address the issues??? As far as breakfast service, it was by far the worst of any Holiday Inn Express we stayed at on

We were nearing the end of a long road trip, having stayed at 6 Hampton Inns and one Home2 Suites along the way. This hotel was an absolute pleasure for us. Our greeting and interaction with Emily at registration was positive, upbeat and clearly showed she saw us as valued guests. She volunteered information about our Honored Guest status that no one else ever told us! Our room was clean, and unlike the Hilton properties, fully supplied and and everything worked! The guest wifi was the best of our trip, which these days is a big deal for travelers. We travel near this hotel once or twice each year, but usually drive through KC. This hotel makes a stop more likely for us. Lots of restaurant choices within less than a mile radius. It is a great place to stay.

I was close to changing hotels prior to staying based on poor reviews, but decided because of the location we could deal with any issues that may have been unsatisfactory. Good thing we kept our reservations here as their wasn't anything unsatisfactory about the trip. The front desk team was very nice and quick to get more towels or anything needed. The Shower was amazing which consistently stayed hot and high water pressure for 4 of us to use back to back. The location is very convenient to all of the downtown activities. They have a shuffleboard table in the lobby that we played often. We went to the PS Speakeasy in the basement of the hotel that was nice. The Restaurant located on site was easy to get drinks at. Valet parking is $30-$35, but we self parked at the garage next door for $18 and easy to get to. The only comment I would make is I wish they had a pantry as we had $30 F&B credit per day, but did not get to use a days worth based on our flight schedule, it would have been nice to use it.

We stayed at his hotel for one night, there was a black mold all around the bathtub in the bathroom. The room phone did not work nor did the TV work. I told the front desk and their whole attitude was they didn’t care but yet they want to charge you a $50 security deposit and an early check-in fee and a late check out fee, even if you’re a diamond member with Wyndham when such is part of your benefits. I’ve now stayed at almost every 21C hotel (I haven’t been to Iowa). Gets an overall five stars with some stronger points and some weaker points. Strong: the artwork this time around was poignant, the thought provoking, and cohesive. The restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding (The Savoy, reviewed separately). Their room service was awesome too. The beds at 21C have always been comfy and I like their toiletry products. Weaker: The front desk staff was a mixed bag. Generally helpful and nice, but I was received more coolly here than some other places. Housekeeping. I 1000% understand we are still struggling with COVID and the economy and labor issues. And I don’t know who had my room previously, but there were several small shards of glass in the seating area, there was a pair of underwear behind the couch (which I didn’t touch and left there), and I somehow found a pair of dried up old contact lenses on the bedspread. Please note, the room was generally clean and well appointed, but the three things I mentioned were pretty big things. Also, if we aren’t going to go back to having minibars (which I’m fine with), can we have mini fridges in the rooms? I get you’re trying to up-sell room service, but I would just like to be able to chill my water or have something cool to drink without asking for a (too small) bucket of ice. Would stay again. The positive far outweighs the negative. Tip: no valet parking, but there is a garage across the street that charges 10 bucks a night.

I came here after my flight out of Kansas City was delayed overnight. The rate was great, and the room was very comfortable. My only criticism has to do with the airport shuttle. They do have a free airport shuttle, but for the trip back to the airport you need to reserve a time in advance. My preferred time was already fully booked, so I had to go 20 minutes earlier - not ideal when it meant switching from 4 AM to 3:40 AM. Try to get on the shuttle schedule as soon as possible if you stay here and need to get back to the airport. But overall, I was very pleased with the hotel, and think that they are a good choice if you find yourself needing a hotel near the Kansas City Airport.

Before the epidemic, I came to KC almost every year, and I stayed at this hotel every time. It is a minute drive from the airport 7-9, there is a shuttle, the environment is good, there are fewer places to eat around. Breakfast is normal Holiday Inn level, overall OK.

Hotel was very super clean and fresh. Staff was friendly! Room was a great size, lexcellent bathroom with walk-in shower. Beds and pillows were fantastic. The breakfast was meh. Indoor pool was ice cold and the 5 person sauna had jet-lag. The shuttle was nice, on time, and friendly. Secure parking lot with controlled gates We were VERY happy with our stay and the price point. We will come back again when we fly out again.

We stayed after our daughter’s appt at Children’s Mercy hospital. When we got to our room, we were greeted with a phone call from front desk to make sure our room was okay. The bathroom was fairly small for 3 people to use, but other than that no complaints. Breakfast was good and staff was friendly. However my daughter had her sights set on the pool. And it was in rough condition. Black mold on the ceiling, green mold on the tiles, condensation everywhere, paint peeling off the walls, even a chunk of ceiling missing.

This hotel is not high on the traveler ranked list in Kansas City, but I was hoping that since it is a Hampton that we would find good accommodations. They weren't terrible, mind you, but so many things could be better! We didn't meet a single pleasant person working at the front desk and as is typical of most hotels today, they need to clean better. The breakfast provisions ran out fairly quickly and many things were not replenished. What was there early on was a typical Hampton breakfast, but adequate. Parking is $18/day and while the lot seems ok, you have to walk down the alley and across the street to get to it from the hotel. The best part of the hotel, in my opinion, is its location on the streetcar. It's a short trip to Union Station and Crown Center.

I've been coming to KC about every other year or so, for approximately 20 years, for work. I almost always stay at The Raphael Hotel. PROS - The hotel has that unique, kind-of-eccentric feel to it that I've found in some Autograph hotels. It has a personality, and feels somewhat European - Great location. There are shops, restaurants, museums, and beautiful houses within walking distance - Friendly staff. Tracee, a front desk agent, was helpful. David has been helping me with my bags for 17 years, and I understand that Bob has also been there that long. - I collected Bonvoy points - I received a complimentary upgrade to a suite. I'd requested a quiet room via the chat function, and they assigned me a room at the end of the hallway - They recycle, and have moved away from small plastic bottles to large refillable bottles - Pretty views from the top floors - I always have a drink and its charmingly-named neighborhood restaurant/bar, Chaz. It's quirky, like the rest of the property. Last time, a guy sat at the bar with his dog. This time, they had a musical duo (two older gentleman). Live music in a small setting can sometimes be annoying, but these guys were enjoyable, and the room was into it - The basic five requirements were met: The room was clean. It was dark at night. I could control the temperature. It was quiet. The bed had a top sheet. CONS - While Chaz has a certain je ne sais quoi at night, it's a little dreary at breakfast time

We were so surprised! Very nice hotel, nicer than higher class brands we have stayed at lately! CLEAN, updated, good breakfast. CLOSE to Arena, convenience wins it out. Rooms were dark, bed not the most comfortable (but clean is what matters!), not much for seating. One desk chair, otherwise just the beds, small window but overall highly recommend! Staff very nice. I would recommend to the company, a luggage holder for the room. Yes there was a large closet, and a long counter/bench to set your luggage on, however there was nothing by the bathroom. We were traveling with our kids, so I had to keep my bag in the middle of the room, after getting out of the shower I had to walk into the room to get all my stuff. I thought if only I had something to put my luggage on right outside the bathroom. None of these ”complaints” would warrant losing a start though.

This is a great Courtyard with a nice bar, small restaurant and good coffee in the morning. I just don’t understand these days why they can’t just clean your room daily like before the Covid excuse. If you are going to half way do it then offer a discount for the half service.

The sanitation and service of the hotel are good, and no cleaning was done after staying for three nights. The hotel quilt is not a quilt cover, it is two sheets put together. The hotel does not provide slippers, you can ask the front desk for toothpaste and toothbrush. The hotel is very close to the country club plaza. It is convenient for shopping. There are Internet celebrity jacks barbecue restaurant, bolin Chinese restaurant, and cheesecake factory next to it. It is recommended to walk for about 15 minutes to the Nelson Museum.

Overall the experience at the hotel was very good, however, check in was lengthy and I had another issue at checkout I'll explain later. There was only one lady at the front managing to check in a long line of people. I can only imagine that they are still short staffed after Covid times. I had checked in 24 hours prior and chosen a room on my phone app, but our room was not ready and was given another. No problem..just glad to get one after the wait. The lady was pleasant checking us in but never apologized for the wait or welcomed us as Diamond members. Room was small but overall clean. Would have liked to have a comfortable chair to sit in but not one in the room. Breakfast was a buffet and overall average/good. Now the part not so good...apparently Hilton is now giving credits for breakfasts for (Gold & Diamond levels). It's put into your account to be used to offset the amount you spent. The amount can be different depending on the hotel. In most cases you will end of paying more due to taxes. I find this offensive and in my case the bookkeeping got messed up and it ended up being added in rather than taken out. I had to end up calling the hotel on two occasions to get it worked out...but it did happen. I appreciated the help of JoAnn and Robert and the bookkeeping department. In addition when checking out, I received my statement, it only showed parking that was owed. I was assured that the breakfast & credits were already sorted out. That was not the case as I found out a day later. Because Hilton President did handle my situation quickly I gave a very good rating!

We had two teams, about 20 families, that stayed here for the MLK VB tourney held at the convention center (an easy 3 block walk). The hotel was clean and quiet, an important factor when trying to get good rest as athletes. Housekeeping was offered daily. I appreciated the number of towels available in the room, as well as the quality! We ordered from the on-site restaurant and the food was good with decent pricing, comparable to restaurants nearby. No complimentary brkfst. Hotel offered valet parking for $28/day, or there was a $10 garage just around the corner, and another for $18 the opposite direction. The hardest issue we encountered was finding a place to actually park/pull up to unload bags just to check in when we first arrived. Same for check out. Hotel is on a street corner w zero designated hotel parking. Ultimately, I would recommend this hotel and I’d stay here again.
