The room is large, one bed in the twin room is double bed size. Heating and air-conditioning will make people noisy, and they will wake up in the middle of the night. It can only be turned on for a while and then turned off before going to bed. The smoke alarm rang in the middle of the night. It turned out to be dead. Come at three o'clock in the middle to change the battery. The card was once degaussed, and I changed it. When I walked to the front desk, I didn't notice any customers (someone was lying on the front desk, didn't talk, and thought it was a staff member). rude”. As a hotel, did you feel hostile? The heating system is so loud that will wake you in midnight. The fire alarm may ring in midnight just because it runs out of battery. The waiter in the counter called me rude when I failed to notice he was working. As a hotel, I found No hospitality, only some trivial hostility.

I came into town early in the morning, after a raging party and not enough food. I had been traveling for more hours than I care to admit, and I was running on fumes. All I wanted to do was plop on the bed and nap. And when I got to the hotel, there weren't any clean rooms available that early before check-in. But DeAndre turned that whole experience around! I know he could tell I was running ragged, and he did all he could for me. He let me into the more spacious bathroom so I could change clothes and splash my face with water. He sent me to the restaurant so I could eat. And he gave me my Hilton Honors welcome pack with water early. Then, as I was sitting in the lobby waiting, he noticed me, and as soon as a room became available, he let me know. And I took an epic nap and had a wonderful trip. Thank you, DeAndre!

The free breakfast is not a full buffet but a choice of egg and then usually fried potato and beefburger patty or slices of sausage. the rest was tiny yoghurt and bread for toast, or make your own waffles. there is tea coffee and hot chocolate. There was cereal and porridge but sometimes it is made so thin that its not worth eating. There is no tea in the room, just coffee. The machine had a disposable tray but they ran out so I used the same one for 9 days for tea and coffee (i got teabags from the breakfast room). Housekeeping never supplied what you asked for first time, or even second. If you want something and ask at 2pm, you will get it if you chase a couple of times afterwards by 9-10pm. There was also alot of messing about with respect to check out time. I am a member of the loyalty programme which is meant to give you an automatic late checkout. The manager gave it to me but then when I went back to ask about extending it further for a fee, it was clear the other guy behind the counter was on a power trip and the day before started saying I shouldnt have got it and as it was the manager, he wouldnt withdraw it but he could and I should only get an hour and be charged $25/hr after that etc. He was just a mean spiteful man who saw an opportunity to cause worry and distress and he did it. I had luggage to store and it was a late flight so I had to know whether to pack to store it to check out at midday, or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 (they were messing me about with all times) but this is why I gave a 1 star for service. It is not at all professional but childish and spiteful. I had arranged the extended checkout days before and the day before they were messing me about when I had to pack and had a schedule of things to do? The worst service in any hotel I have ever been in. Hilton is no longer a 5 star experience it seems. 1 star for service.

Our six night stay was surprisingly quiet. Population was sp**** in The South Loop. And there wasn’t a close by mall or large grocery store. But the main attractions like the zoo, art museum, science museum can be easily reached by cab. By 10am, there are almost no cars on the street on the weekend. Felt isolated and alone walking on the street. The district at night has it’s dangers. Robbery is rampant; but at least you won’t be killed. Friendly advice from the hotel. The room rate is high yet didnt include room slippers or toothbrushes. Water bottle wasnt free; charges were $6 a bottle. But I did enjoy the Food Hall on the ground floor and prices were reasonable at $10 for a fresh large salad or $14 for a pizza. The ramen noodles wasn’t too good though. The meat was dry and 8 slices too many. The Food Hall is only opened when the hotel has high occupancy (I was told). There is a small refrigerator in the room. Free of charge. We asked for a late checkout and the answer was a clear ‘No’. Even with a Marriott membership, an extra hour was not possible. Our room was very clean and with a good view; floor to ceiling window. Very comfortable stay. Any improvements? The front desk lady could have been more welcoming or friendlier maybe.

In Chinatown, it is very convenient for Chinese business travelers with a Chinese stomach. The environment and sanitation are very good, but there is no mineral water and disposable slippers, and the sanitation is only to make the bed once every 2 days. I stayed for 6 nights and did not do a lot of sanitation. The hair falling on the ground is always there. It is very close to Mccormick place, and it is a little farther away. It is not particularly easy to call a taxi. In addition, the air conditioner is quite loud

I can’t say enough about this place. For a affordable accommodations it was great. I would stay again. It is less than a block from Cermack stop on redline. Check in was painless and quick and easy at front desk. The key to the room is like a little silver tin chip, plz don’t lose it they charge $50 to replace. There is a big communal room with frig, coffee, microwave and ice. They have a big table with chairs to use. We had a suite with 2 bedrooms on each side then a bathroom in middle. There were no signs of bedbugs or any other bugs. They had air-con units in each bedroom worked fabulous and really kept room cold. Our rooms overlooked front street. Each bedroom had a double bed. All linens were clean. Bathroom had a shower. Each bedroom had a tv. The internet Wi-Fi free worked just fine. Each bedroom also had a closet and desk with a stool to sit on. Plenty of towels and they gave extra pillows. If you are looking for The Plaza it is not!! If you are looking for cheap affordable clean and safe give *****

I booked a room at this hotel because of the positive reviews and I was not disappointed. The rate I got was pretty good. If you book online via the hotel's website, you can save some money. I actually called and talked to someone at the hotel because on one day, we had 2 people staying and on another day, we had 3 people staying (because my husband was flying in to join us later) and the rates were different depending on the number of people staying. This is standard procedure in some European countries, so I wasn't completely shocked. The room we had was small, but clean. Because of COVID, we were told there wouldn't be any housekeeping and if we needed anything (like towels), we could come to the front desk. We didn't have a great view, like one of the other reviews we had read, but I did like the location. The hotel is located on the edge of Chinatown, so there are many restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. There is also a metro station that is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, in the Chinatown parking lot. In fact, we parked our car there for 2 nights. I was a little worried about somebody breaking into it, as it is a surface lot, but no such thing happened. In fact, there are lots of cars parked in the lot at any one time. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I LOVE the location!

I stayed here for one night using 50,000 H Honors rewards and loved it. Check in was fast and friendly. Wifi is fast and reliable. Be sure to push hard on the door to open your room since it's a new door it's still kinda stiff no big deal but I figured it out! Also when getting on the right elevator make sure you use the right one since they share this property with another Hilton brand hotel here. Angela the manager was nice enough to send me a text to ask if everything was ok! That is service above and beyond what is expected! Kudos to her great customer service! The King deluxe city view room was huge! it felt like more like being in an apartment. Microwave and fridge were very convenient. The bed and pillows were super soft. The area is kind of quiet at night since it's a business district but the good thing about that is that it's quiet at night and right next door to the Willis Tower aka ”Sears Tower!” I highly recommend a visit up to the 360 observation deck. The closest restaurant that was open past 6pm was Giordanos. I had the Italian beef sandwich add cheese and it was amazing! It's right across the street. The orange line is only 1 block away right across from Giordanos and it takes you to Midway Airport in less than 30 minutes. If I am in this part of Chicago again I would definitely stay here! Thanks and keep up the good work!

The small fridge in the room automatically shuts off after 2 hrs and doesn't stay at a safe temperature to store breast milk. The front desk advised to just use an ice bucket. This is problematic because (1) you will have to continually refill the ice bucket and (2) there is limited capacity. After an escalation to the manager, they offered to hold my milk behind the front desk in their fridge. I am not comfortable with that ”solution” nor do I want to go back and forth to the front desk for my baby's bottles and milk storage. He advised they previously provided medical fridges but they currently do not do so. I am so beyond disappointed. I expected so much more from this brand and now have to figure out something to do with my milk for my exclusively breast fed baby. Ugh, don't they have mother's stay at this property!? Marriott, do better!

The hotel has a good location, just beside Michigan Avenue, and convenient to all major attractions in Chicago. The hotel environment is also very good. It is quiet and clean. The space is large enough. There is sufficient hot water supply, but there is no hot water to drink. We brought our own heat The most distinctive feature of the kettle for boiling water is the hotel’s robots, which can deliver water and daily necessities, which are available on demand, great! We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but there are many restaurants around, which are very convenient. The waiters in the hotel are very good and the service is very warm and thoughtful. Our trip felt very good, the price was affordable and the process was comfortable!

I’d give -10 to this hotel! We stayed there for 6 nights. We got a room on the last floor, it was nice, but dirty. Beds weren’t changed (found hairs and dirty pillows, stained sheets) and didn’t have a comforter, table and windowsill weren’t wiped (had some foods, souse spills, etc), windows had large prints. I wiped everything by myself, and called to ask to change the bed. The girl was very annoyed, even didn’t say “hi” and “by”, and changed it with teen’s attitude, when you ask them to do something they don’t want to do. On the third night we (my husband, daughter and I) woke up at 4 am because of the FIRE ALARM. We ran to the hall, but the fire alarm was only in our room. We came back and foun out that our room was full of smoke and smelled very bad. We called reception, the guy who worked the night shift was polite, and gave us another room to sleep. After we woke up I went to the reception to ask for another room, hostes pretended that he didn't know about anything, after I explained to him a situation, he gave me another room, mentioned that it’ll cost $25 less, but said they can only refund half of one night's price, because it happened at 4am. I didn’t want to ruin my day by arguing with him and came back in the evening. There was another guy (he said he is a supervisor), who again pretended he didn’t know about the situation. I explained everything again, and asked him what happened in our room and asked him to send a report about it, because my daughter, and I felt bad all day, had bad headaches and coughed, and I needed something to confirm that there was an accident in this hotel. He played the game “I don’t know what happened”, and it was a lie, because a guy in the morning told me that an inspector already worked in our room. I politely asked him to call the manager. The manager AGAIN asked me to repeat what happened, because he “didn’t know”. When I said that “our room was full of smoke” he said to me “it’s what you are saying, we (“hotel”) didn't see it” and they can’t give me any report. This was the moment when I stopped being polite, and the email was sent to me 5 min after that. “Our chief engineer found the source of the smoke coming from the HAVC unit in 2208. The smoke that was seen and smelled was from the condensation hitting the wires in the HVAC” When we checked out, I asked about adjusting our room price, because the guy told us it will be $25 cheaper, so they needed to return $75. The girl who worked there that morning stopped to smile, started to talk rudely, said she can’t do it, she needs to call the manager, etc. and stared at me. I politely said that it is ok and I can wait a little while for her manager. She called him, and the manager (new one) asked me AGAIN to explain the whole situation, like he didn’t know about it. He said he doesn’t know who told me about different prices, he has to look, and they already refunded the night, etc. When I pointed out that he speaks rudely, and I don’t understand w

We stayed for the weekend and were not disappointed. I’m one of those people that do tons of research before choosing a hotel. This one is priced well and is so cozy and welcoming. We stayed in one of the city view rooms which I would totally recommend. The night before I got a notification on the Hilton app saying it’s time to choose my room and I was able to choose a corner room with a view of the city on both sides and it was quite large. Being able to choose your room and know which one you’ll be in when you arrive is great. This hotel is in a great spot and only a few minute walk to an L train station for all of your transportation needs. The neighborhood is pretty quiet from what I saw. We loved the full size pump bottles in the bathroom of body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hand soap. The front desk staff was always welcoming and answered any questions I had. I would recommend the skyline room. We stayed in room 1815 and had a great view of the city. The only downsides were that the windows were quite dirty and the parking garage was tiny but I understand those aren’t necessarily problems that can be fixed easily. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone else looking for a place to stay in Chicago.

This was my 4th time staying at the Sofitel and it remains the only place I’ll stay in the city! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are very modern and extremely clean. I love their bathrooms, they are very spacious with a very nice soaking tub. Beds and bedding are very comfortable. I haven’t dined much at the hotel I usually will order a simple room service breakfast - they make even a simple English muffin and coffee seem luxurious! The serving tray, the beautiful blue and white dishes, the carafe for your coffee… I look forward to my breakfast in bed there every time! Their French Press coffee is AMAZING. The location couldn’t be better - walking distance to so much great dining and shopping! I am a single mom and I come for solo weekends in the city and I love how safe the neighborhood is as well as the hotel. Most of all the staff is incredible. From the moment I check in I feel very valued and special. They have accommodated me in so many ways and gone above and beyond to make my time away in the gift so special! I absolutely recommend the Sofitel as one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, as well as the best value!

The hotel is very clean and tidy. The biggest feature of the room is the floor-to-ceiling windows. The scenery outside the window is very clear. Although there is no bustling Michigan Avenue, it is still good! There is a bar on the 18th floor of the hotel, not big. The hotel has a restaurant on the left side of the hotel entrance, named Somerset, in the room can also book this restaurant in the room dinning, about twenty or thirty minutes to deliver the meal to the room. I really like the bathroom's minimalist wash suit, which is white tea, especially fragrant and comfortable. Shopping, dining and entertainment are nearby. Not far from there are Chinese restaurants, such as Imperial Lamian, Old Sichuan, MingHin Cuisine, Shanghai Terrance, which are just a few minutes from Uber. Royal chef and old Sichuan are very popular! It is also 10 minutes from the hotel to the famous scenic spot Michigan Avenue, which is also close to Navy Pier and Millennium Park. The fly in the ointment is that the sound insulation in the hotel is not good, the guests from the opposite side of the room can hear the opening of the door, but the overall is good!

This was our first visit to Kimpton Gray in Chicago, IL. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) & used 76k IHG rewards points (the price later went up to 122k, so book early!). ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: We arrived before check-in, but thankfully our room type was available. ROOM: Prior to arrival, I called & emailed the hotel to request early check-in, a quiet room on an upper floor & possible room upgrade. Thanks to my Diamond Elite status, they placed us in a 1 King Premium Deep Soaking Tub. Unfortunately, they could not accomodate the high floor request, so we were assigned room #601. I appreciated the welcome amenity of Acqua Panna Natural Spring Waters & dark chocolate w/ sea salt. • Amenities: Coffee maker & mini refrigerator. You can request a microwave be delivered to your room free of charge. • Bath: Plenty of hot water & decent pressure. The soaking tub is divine! • Bed: Bed & pillows both very comfortable • Cleanliness: So so. I called housekeeping upon arrival to request the team vacuum our room & wipe down surfaces. I also requested a freshen up the next day. Both were taken care of! • Decor: Average. A bit tattered around some edges (see photo of mini fridge). I did like the accent wall behind the tub though. • Heating/cooling: Worked well • Sound: Mostly quiet. The hotel does appear to host a lot of events, so there were a few loud guests walking the halls late at night. • TV: Average; no movie channels that I recall • View: A building & street • WiFi: Worked well DRINKS/FOOD: • No free breakfast offered • Boleo was closed both evenings for private events, so we could not check-out or enjoy the rooftop bar. We tried to use our $20 raid-the-bar credit at Vol. 39 on Saturday at 8:30 PM, but the bar was also closed. Thankfully, a front desk rep allowed us to grab $20 worth of snacks. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Good. We especially loved being able to contact the team via text! Super convenient. LOCATION/PARKING: Prime location. Parking not needed. OTHER: • Note: You can not use the Kimpton $30 spa credit as the hotel contracts out their spa services. • No pool Would I recommend/stay again? Not likely for full price if paying cash* (vs points). *Rates in October for this room seem to run $467.31 - $556.54/night on a Friday & Saturday. Although location is central, customer service is good & bed soft, the hotel is lacking in 4-star amenities, particularly for a Kimpton property.

We got to the hotel at around 7am from Seattle and it’s our first time in Chicago. Overall the workers in the hotel they are so helpful and accommodating. Specially Anastasia and Enrique they helped us out with the parking and stuff to see in downtown Chicago. We ate at the bar that night and the bartender was so helpful. We know that he was busy but he was still nice. We had a good experience in this hotel and can’t wait to go back with the whole family. The location was convenient you don’t need to rent a car. The train is just there as soon as you leave your hotel. Shopping is just around the corner. The coffee at the goddess is a must. The bean is just a block away. We really enjoyed staying in this hotel and will visit again soon. Thanks again to Anastasia and Enrique you made our stay memorable.

River North

The place has a hip almost Arts and Crafts / Southwestern veneer but the rooms are cramped and they lookout on either a grizzly parking garage or a large pit of a dank light well. All the walls are dark colors not unlike the bathrooms of college town bars. And, I suspect the reasons for this are more or less the same, if you know what I mean, and I think you do! For example, there are a limited number of mini refrigs. If you ask early, a hulking staff member drops one in your room but then you have trouble either getting into the bathroom or out of the room. I have the feeling the Freehand folks bought a tuckered out Flop House and added a touch of paint and panache and it's been a gravy train ever since. This was my mistake. Maybe we can all learn from it. Customarily I write positive reviews, as who wants read yucky stuff but this review is, if not the truth, then at least my truth. Buyer beware!

I had booked a last minute trip to Chicago's Virgin Hotel to spend some time with my daughters. From the first minute we walked in the service was impeccable. This continued throughout our stay everytime we walked in or out of the hotel (many times). The location was perfect to shops, restaurants, Riverwalk, beautiful architecture, and many other visual attractions. The only downfall to our visit was it was Covid season and many restrictions to places we could go to watch the football game and/or eat as the restaurants were all closed in the hotel. That was a safety issue for the guests so it was appreciated they weren't open. The one thing I'd recommend is for them to have a list of what was open nearby and what was offered (dine-in, delivery, take out, etc.). We were able to find places on our own, but it would have saved us the time from searching/calling around. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

Heart O' Chicago Motel

This place is better than the typical big city motel/motor hotel, it is older but not worn. It was clean, no smells and no bugs. Hot water pressure was good, and individually-controlled central air conditioning worked well. The room had a table with 2 chairs, a separate small desk with chair, and the room and bathroom were plenty big not cramped. Despite being on a main street, it was quiet other than the occasional siren, and there was no noise from rooms next door or other guests outside. It was under $100/night with free parking, a bargain for Chicago. The CTA Red Line train is a 15-minute walk away, and we always felt safe in this neighborhood. There is a Starbucks and White Castle Hamburgers down the block. A downside is that there is no online reservation system, you must call. You get no email confirmation, just a credit card receipt upon payment, which is required at check-in, along with a $5 room key deposit. It is a basic room: no coffeemaker, frig or microwave oven, but there is cable TV. There is no Continental Breakfast, although it is listed on their website and on a sign on their building. The room has a standard double bed (not King or Queen), so may be too narrow or short for some couples, and it is a bit uncomfortable but tolerable. There is no elevator, but 50% of the rooms are on the ground level. If you want to charge your cellphone on the nightstand bring an extension cord, as the only outlets are on the side walls. This motel is just fine for a short stay in Chicago, as long as your expectations aren’t too high and all you want is a clean and convenient location.

Hotel is very nice and kept up well. The only reasons I have three stars include lack of parking, lack of towels in the room and lack of plates, bowls and flatware at breakfast. On arrival, the check in process was smooth and staff was friendly. We received bottled water. Parking was non existent. Apparently the hotel has only 20 spots for more than 200 rooms. They have no arrangements for off site parking. Though parking is at a premium in Chicago, this is ratio of available parking spots is not reasonable. It took close to 45 minutes to find a parking spot, in front of the McDonalds Hamburger University. In our room, there were no towels of any kind. We asked for towels and they were brought up promptly. Breakfast was sufficient, but at the time we were there, 9-930a, plates bowls and flatware were always missing and weren’t replenished for prolonged periods of time. The room with kitchenette and sofa bed was well kept and clean. It was quite roomy for our family of five. Only complaint was the loud music from a neighboring building that was heard by our room’s outside wall.

We stayed at ES mag mile in October. There were 2 couples and since we arrived early morning I called ahead and paid 35$ to have a early check in in one of our rooms. Only one was available for that. We appreciated being able to leave our luggage, freshen up and do a little exploring. I have to say we were only able to do one complimentary morning breakfast since it ended at 9:30. It was fine and a basic breakfast. We did not have to wait long and there was seating. The evening social was pretty sp**** and really no more than salsa, chips and a few veggie sticks. Our room was dated but we had a comfortable bed and a pretty good view of the river from the 11th floor. Water pressure was low and the bathroom lighting was very dim. I did makeup in the room window for light. Overall the room was clean and mostly quiet( noisy neighbor) and we rested well. People were nice and as helpful as possible.

The rooms are medium in size and located in the city center. The surrounding facilities are complete, there are shopping malls and a lot of restaurants. For downtown hotels, the price / performance ratio is very good! Hilton's Samsung Hotel, but this brand can meet the four-star standard in China. I personally like this brand and recommend it!

The rooms are tiny and the bathroom is even smaller. When we walked in someone had pink hair at reservations. I know you can not discriminate based on a person's hair color but that set the tone for our stay mediocre and lackluster. I was very reluctant about booking anything with the word Inn behind it but being that it was last-minute travel and I needed to see a family member I bit the bullet and booked this hotel and I think I should have paid the extra coins for a better hotel. I did spend 250 a night plus 75 a day parking at this hotel and it was easily worth 89. The positive about this hotel it is conveniently located and close to everything downtown. I only recommend staying here if you are a single person of 1 otherwise you will be very uncomfortable in the small bathroom and room. My valet experience was very rewarding and professional

We attended the Chicago International Miniature show at the nearby Marriott O'Hare. Because that hotel was full, we booked the Springhill Suites. They ran a shuttle to the other hotel with a super nice front desk staffer driving. The hotel itself was fine and the free breakfast was above average. Parking was on long surface lots on both ends of the hotel, but there is also an underground garage. The onsite Outback steakhouse was a plus. Rooms were good, nice and quiet despite being near airport and freeway with a microwave and small fridge

First of all, it's convenient and clean. OK... I was doing a business project and was having - what was not obvious to me - ”trouble” with it. One of the associates, Elizabeth, caught my frustration and obliged me with a simple and necessary fix. Without her help I would not have been able to make my deadline, and my entire trip would have been useless. Thanks so much, Elizabeth!!

While attending a conference I was worried because there were no rooms at the conference location. I found Le Meridian Essex and booked my week there. I must say everything was phenomenal from the time I walked in and throughout my stay. Hotel staff were kind and more than willing to help. Taniya, Natasha and Jazzlynn at the front desk were always patient and friendly. Concierge was helpful and welcoming. The hotel provided a good voucher each day for the Grant Park Bistro where again the staff and quality were definitely 5 star! As for my room, it was clean and had many little amenities to make my stay comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for everything I have mentioned above as well as its beautiful convenient location.

It's a good hotel for the price. Location is excellent with Museum Campus Metra station right in front and bus stations nearby. You can also walk to downtown. There are Walgreens stores and a Target store nearby so you can buy anything you might need. It was cold in winter but the heating was good. Radiator had some noise but ear plugs can easily solve the issue. Definitely a budget option. I was happy with it because it was a business trip.

This hotel was great in proximity to Wrigley Field. It has an old, historic feel with modern touches. The room was clean and beds very comfortable. Rooms are quiet, albeit dated. The only downfall was parking to check in, and then parking to stay. You'll likely have to use the parking ramp behind the hotel unless you're lucky enough to find street parking: if you enter the alley immediately after the hotel, you'll need to do a Y turn to get into the ramp. One thing I'd like to see changed is that they don't fill the fridge with beverages (no room for late-night pizza leftovers), and a microwave in the room would have been nice. If you're looking for a room with all the amenities of a ”chain” hotel, this isn't it. It's basic necessities. I would stay again. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
