We were on the fifth floor, in a studio with a lounge/diner/kitchenette with bathroom, and bedroom on a mezzanine level. Opposite the palace and next door to the wonderful Cafe de Oriente, this was the perfect location from which to explore beautiful Madrid, whilst also being very quiet. The building is old and sympathetically updated, with period looking furniture and ornaments, whilst also offering all the modern comforts like heating, aircon and a fabulous shower. The kitchenette offered microwave, fridge, oven & hob, along with a kettle, tea & coffee. A lovely touch was the Cava in the fridge and bottle of red wine on the side, laid out with suitable glasses on arrival, very welcoming. The staff were fabulously friendly and helpful, offering great advice of where to visit, which we took and had a lovely time. The only negative word we’d have is we found the bed and pillows (only one pillow each) very hard and comfortless, so unfortunately we did not sleep well. Otherwise, it was absolutely lovely.

I think the location is excellent being close to the major tourist locations and the facilities are very clean. The staff was very helpful and the room was very big. The price was pretty affordable for last minute bookings. The only thing that might be an issue would be the windows but honestly as a traveler it’s not a big deal as we were out most of the time visiting cultural sites. I would stay here again.

We stayed for 3 nights in a double room- we found this hotel to be in an excellent location- ideal for sightseeing and in a great neighbourhood. Near the metro stop but walkable to most things. On a city break, we find location to be the most important thing. The room itself was basic but pleasant. Nice towels, clean bathroom and enough space. Reception were very nice and accommodating. Tea/coffee, TV, toiletries etc all included. We did find the bed a little hard but this didn't affect us too much. I would certainly recommend this place as a good base for exploring Madrid.

Escala Opera Hotel, Madrid, - A review The photographer who took the publicity pictures for the hotel deserves a prize! The hotel was presented as a cross between Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Sheik Abdul Badibu in the Emirates. Unfortunately a comparison with a Calle Luna (Madrid) streetwalker would be more accurate. Peel away the paint and underneath you see the real thing. The Escala Opera is advertised as a “Botique Guest House with luxury rooms and individual décor. It has views of the Oriente gardens and the Royal Palace.” Perhaps from he building roof but not from the rooms. It’s not a ‘hotel’ but a mishmash of rooms, probably an old apartment (and I mean OLD) creaky floors and ill-closing doors are standard. My room was separated from its neighboring accommodation with a rickety screen type device through which the light could be seen shining where it didn’t quite meet the ceiling. The air conditioning didn’t seem to be cooling until I realized it was underneath a table. That had to be moved to the other side of the room before any semblance of cooling took place. Then it made the room livable, but not cold. Obviously the management knew about the temperature because no blankets at all were provided, just a very thin sheet on the bed. Two large and one small pillow were to be fought over by sleepers. One outlet only in the room and another in the bathroom. Ah! The bathroom. A large hand sink was welcome but pressure in the shower did not always allow the button controlling release of water from the overhead shower head to work. On the floor rested a mat with a large “U” shaped piece either cut out on purpose or eaten by a wide-mouthed animal. Strands of the stringy material sprouted everywhere. Grout filled the spaces between the bathroom tiles. Not a good sight. The room was quiet when the library located immediately outside, was not occupied by chattering guests. The walls of the room were hung with drapes. Flimsy, dusty long drapes that hung from curtain rods and served to disguise the ugly walks beneath. We found clothes left by a previous guest and reported these to the front desk. They responded by removing my soiled clothes in a plastic bag, from the room. This set of a search that lasted an hour before the bag was located, stored by the cleaning person somewhere in the depths of the maze. Getting in and out proved difficult, downstairs was very dark and difficult to see where the door release button was. The elevator, another antique and unless, unless one shut the two sets of door tightly. It would not move and could not be called from another floor if this wasn’t done. The staff, I admit, very willing to assist and allowed us access to the computer to print boarding passes. However, I would not return and would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

My wife was worried that this budget place would be a dump. Far from it, it was quite nice. The room was nice for the budget price, and service was excellent during the hours it's open. They speak great English, so no more struggling to revive my rusty high school Spanish here! Location could not be much better. A/C worked great in the room. The noise from the street was significant at night, but that's a feature of Madrid, not of the room. Highly recommended if you're not looking for the full fancy hotel treatment. Don't let the Spanish word "hostal" give you the idea it's a "hostel" (English).

Because this trip benefited from everyone's comments on the hotel, this is the hotel we stayed on the last day of the trip. The hotel rooms are small, but there are triple rooms with sofa beds. But the room is still very particular, very close to the Royal Palace of Madrid, and next to the Opera House, the location is good. Breakfast was good. Dinner was good too.

Out of the subway station, walk to the hostel in one minute, the traffic is very convenient, there is no breakfast, there is a bar opposite the hostel, you can have breakfast. Out of the subway station, followed by navigation to the scheduled hotel, yes, yes, I booked the hotel, the location of the navigation is also very accurate, the navigation prompts. I once again stood on the side of the road in a daze, this is the horse, what broken navigation brought me to this broken place, although in the city center, but the house is very old, like the ancient city, take out the order comparison navigation Repeatedly confirmed, yes, it is here, but where is the hotel? Didn't see it. Looking up to the heights, I finally found a small hotel signboard, and more than half of it was covered by leaves. I want to sing a poem. "There are thousands of people looking for him in the crowd, but when you look back, the signboard is in a dim light." Looking for the door to the upper floor, looking for a long time, using the exclusion method to initially determine a more likely door, press the doorbell, the speaker on the doorbell is talking, but I can't understand, I asked the first sentence. Still "Do you want to speak English", get the other party's cold "No" and then no more... I then ring the doorbell, no one cares for me. Hey! Pull out the cool and cool. In the end, there was no trick. I used the mobile phone to dial the phone number on the signboard. When the phone was connected, I wouldn’t be polite with her. "Labor has set a room on the Internet, I am standing outside the door now," and then it will not be inside the doorbell. English-speaking people started to speak English... The hotel may have been newly renovated and tastes very heavy. The other room is small, there are some, the bathroom door can only be opened half, because of the narrow, blocked by the wash basin. There is a refrigerator in the room, the drinks in the refrigerator can be eaten, but you have to pay.

Overall, the price is very high, and the trip is close to the Atocha train station, but it is very tiring to push the suitcase. There are 2 supermarkets near the hotel. It is convenient to buy daily necessities, and it is also near to Lichi Park . You have to clean the room by yourself. The room is quite large. On the last day, you must pay attention to LOCKER who checked out your luggage. Otherwise, it will be used up by others and there will be no place to send it. . . . .

The hotel is centrally located, shopping and eating are very convenient, the service is particularly satisfactory, breakfast is not set, but there is free bread and cereal jam at the front desk downstairs, candy in the afternoon, fruit in the evening, tea and coffee throughout the day, downstairs There is a supermarket, you can cook in the apartment and eat chocolates every night, because of honeymoon trips, I also gave champagne. The disadvantage is that the air conditioner is louder, and it is more obvious at midnight. Lively, but too tired to hear, no additional city tax charged, overall satisfactory

We stayed here for 2 nights during a trip to Madrid & Seville. Positives It worked really well for us, the apartment was large for 2, with a table & basic kitchenette, I wouldn't have been cooking meals in it, but breakfast would have been fine. Good bathroom & great shower. All had been recently decorated. We had a balcony with a great view & the bed was comfy (I can't honestly remember if we booked a room with a balcony, we might have). The reception staff were friendly & helpful. Location was great for us as we had 2 nights & were looking for a bit of down time, good food & local culture not exhausting ourselves with lots of sightseeing - there are tapas bars on the street & the street with a lot of tapas bars & atmosphere is a 5 min walk, even less when it's quite chilly in November! We'd recommend El Bombin Quinteria on Calle Agulia... we went twice in the end, full of locals & good tapa & friendly staff. Negatives - nothing major but warrants 4 stars instead of 5 There isn't a kettle but there was a coffee machine (which seems to be quite normal in Spain!). We just used a pan to boil water... The metro from the airport requires a few changes, we were fine arriving midday & on hand luggage only but you might want consider booking the taxi service they offer if you have more luggage, or your arriving late, it's a good hour on the metro & quite a bit of walking at the airport. La Latina metro is a 10 min walk which was fine for us.

My sister and I stayed at Behap de las Letras for a few nights recently and we were overwhelmed by the hospitality, kindness, helpfulness, and friendliness of Alvaro. He had emailed us beforehand with details of contacting him once we arrived. We were also told that the office is closed for 2 hours in the middle of the day. The apartments are lovely, with cooking facilities as well as a washing machine. No dishwashing liquid is supplied so you need to provide your own. The bathroom is quite small, and one has to be careful which shower knob you turn on, as there is on overhead shower knob as well as a middle knob. The location is great -there is lots of atmosphere in this area of Madrid & it is within 500 metres of the main station; is close to cafes and there is a supermarket just down the road. There is a great Argentinian bar/ restaurant directly opposite, which has delicious food. The CaixaFirum and the Reine Sofia ( which houses many of Picasso’s paintings, including ‘Guernica’ are a short walk away. I loved Madrid, and I would definitely recommend Behap and Barrio de las Letras as a wonderful spot to stay and to explore. Thank you so much Alvaro for making our stay so memorable. We both loved you!

Facilities are complete in all areas, except for the basics without slippers. No pre-authorization deposit or compulsory consumption is required. Especially the service is very in place. When checking in, the waiter pours water, then leads the guests to the room, and then explains the location of the facilities on each floor of the hotel. It is really a smile service, and it is also for the Chinese. It is unique in the European hotel industry. When checking out, I will also talk to guests about some things in Madrid, and I will send blessings before leaving. Four Seasons Hotel may not be able to achieve this level of service. Live here The special location is also excellent, just outside the hotel is the Plaza de Espana and the Royal Palace of Madrid is to the south. Let me talk about location and environment. Good location near the center of Madrid, convenient and quick. But it's not the standard four-star hotel, it's just an air b & b, where is the price, so you can't expect too much. The face of the door is very small, so small that you miss it accidentally. You need to pay attention to the b & b sign. After entering, there is no reception hall of the four or five-star hotel, but there is a friendly, warm, warm and lovely reception desk, and the room will be available after going up. It's clean and tidy, with everything you need, two beds, small shelves, storage space, writing desk, and separate wet and dry bathroom. But the space is smaller than the hotel, not suitable for children. Breakfast is the same. It is open 24 hours. It is self-catering. There is a coffee machine that can provide a variety of hot drinks. There are also simple cookies and fruits to eat. The dining space is simple and clean. If the weather is good, you can go to the elegant and clean terrace outside. . It is worth mentioning that the waiter thoughtfully put a bag of cakes on the door handle in the morning, and it felt great. Can not be measured by star hotel standards, but overall the price is very high.

I was really happy with my stay here. The location is fabulous and I walked almost everywhere I wanted to go. It's a busy area known for good eating and drinking, but there was no rowdiness. The only downside was there was just one power point in my room, but I survived. The receptionists don't speak English, but they were patient and happy to wait while I typed into my translator. I mentioned that I liked the view from the room shown on Booking.com and they gave me that exact room, even though others would have been similar. My room was surprisingly quiet, but you still might like to use earplugs if you're an especially light sleeper. The balcony doors were double glazed and it was really pleasant to stand out there in the evening breeze and watch the world go by.

The apartments are of different sizes, interior and exterior units, one or two bedrooms etc. The most distinctive features are that they are kept clean -although some renovations wouldn't hurt, and the location is perfect! Smack right in the middle of the famous "Golden Mile" of Madrid. Metro Station about 50 feet from the Building's entrance, good internet connectivity, safe building all around and staff worth it of a at least a 4 star Hotel. The cost-benefit analysis of these Apartments is great if you compare to equivalent hotels. We highly recommend it

We stayed at this gem the first week of 2020 and loved our stay. The hotel is very well situated, we took the train in from the airport to the hotel and walked from the Sol metro stop. The hotel is also walking distance to the Atocha train station. We walked everywhere. The hotel staff was absolutely amazing with their suggestions and assistance with anything we may have needed. The room was very clean and very well stocked. I loved that there was a full length mirror and a magnified mirror in the room. Also had a great coffee machine and a well stocked mini bar. The bed, pillows and sheets were amazing. We truly enjoyed our stay. Great restaurants around the area, most museums very close/walking distance. The Prado the Gran Via all very short and beautiful walks. We must say Madrid in January was beautiful, the city Christmas lights were spectacular the three kings parade was beautiful and the energy of the city was just great! The location is very good, located on the edge of the Tirso de Molina metro station, from the hotel to the West Side Square in the east of Madrid, the Alcalá Gate, the Retiro Park, the Brado Museum, or to the west The Plaza Mayor, the Plaza Mayor, the Segovia Viaduct, the Royal Palace, the Temple of Debo, and the Plaza de España are all within walking distance; they are very close to the Sun Plaza. The surrounding dining and shopping are very convenient. Although there are many immigrants nearby, there is no sense of insecurity. The hotel is small, the access control is convenient and safe, and the staff at the reception desk are warm and friendly. The rooms are small but the interiors are completely renovated and are completely different from the old building. The indoor sanitation is relatively clean, the facilities are complete, the bathroom is hot and full, and it is very comfortable to use. I asked for quiet when making a reservation, so the room is at the end of the walkway. There are windows in the room and bathroom, but the window is outside the window, and the lighting and ventilation are OK. It is worth mentioning that the hotel adopts a frame-mounted blinds. It has excellent shading effect after pulling on, and you can choose how many window holes to cover at will, which is very convenient! Pros: Good location in central Madrid, with quite easy access to nearby metro stations. Sadly that’s pretty much it for the pros Cons: Shower: was annoying because the hot water was about as reliable as a knitted condom and the thing which holds the shower hose was broken so you literally had to hold the thing in your hand the whole time. Room: (1st floor, double) was simply ugly with dull walls and an all-grey bed. Far too small for a double room. The woollen blanket was dirty with clumps of hair and stains from past guests in it. The bed was also slightly too small, although to be fair I’m quite tall and it was quite a negligible issue. WiFi: 3 different Networks. All of them require the same tedious password. All of them promise you 3 bars the whole time. None of them work. I hope your 4G works because God knows this place’s WiFi doesn’t Breakfast: Yeah no. They give you coupons to be used in one of two nearby cafés. This lets you get the ‘breakfast option’ for free. If you want anything else you need to pay standard rate. Well what is the ‘breakfast option?’ I hear you ask. Simple; one croissant, a coffee and an orange juice. Key & access: No elevator which isn’t that bad to be honest, but is annoying when you have heavy luggage. They give you one key (non-electronic) which you need to use to lock you door, otherwise it’s just closed. Not overly difficult, just a bit old fashioned which isn’t really my style. Also when you want to go in the main entrance you need to ring a bell like in a block of flats and ask the receptionist for permission. To be fair to them they did always answer quickly, spoke English and did let me in all the time, It just made me feel awkward to bother someone every time I came back. I mean I’ve been in worse hostels before and I don’t want to come across as snobbish it’s just when you pay €266 for two nights in a place that presents itself as quality, you wouldn’t expect to find something like this. In summary: if it were cheaper and clearer what exactly it was it would be fine, but in reality it is overpriced and very underwhelming, but does have good access to Madrid

The location is very convenient, coming out of the train station and walking along the square for 10 minutes. The entrance to the apartment is a subway station, which is uniquely endowed by nature.
