0.38km from Cafe AmonWhile Costa Rica is a wonderful destination with much to recommend it, the capital, San Jose is not much of a town. It is singularly lacking in charm, in attractions...in nearly everything that makes a city worth visiting. That said, this is truly an outstanding hotel that in itself makes a stayover a true pleasure. The location is the best in town, the architecture and design both inside and out are stunning, the rooms large and supremely comfortable, the service impeccable, As a Gold Hilton Honors member traveling with my wife and another couple, we were all offered a myriad of special privileges and amenities. These included what is arguably the best free Happy Hour we've ever experienced. The included breakfast comprised an extensive buffet of perfectly prepared items served in the spectacular roof-top lounge. If arriving or departing from San Jose airport, do yourself a favor and spend a night or two here.

0.57km from Cafe AmonThe hotel is located in the center of San Jose. Downstairs is a main pedestrian street. It is convenient to eat and go shopping. It may be because of the country's reasons. The hotel feels old and it feels a little unsafe to go out at night. The hotel is decorated in an old-fashioned style, and the hotel lobby is on the second floor, very retro style. The breakfast is relatively rich, but after two days of eating, I feel that there is nothing to eat. It may be that the Chinese stomach is not used to it. Fruit, juice, coffee, a lot of milk, this is great. The bathroom in the hotel has only a shower head, which is very inconvenient. In addition, the drinking water is installed by the hotel itself, and it is always not safe to drink.
0.6km from Cafe AmonThe rooms are super small, and most of the domestic express hotels don't have any. The hotel's breakfast is good, the location is OK, and it is close to Chinatown.

0.65km from Cafe AmonI will make a quick list of Pros/Cons but before that I have to note that the hotel is smaller than the pictures make it seem like. The breakfast is good and the café is cozy, the swimming pool is depressing, and the views are non-existent. The hotels best strength is it's location, only 2 city blocks from the Jade Museum. Bye far it's worst weakness is it offers no parking, forcing you to park your car 1 to 3 CITY BLOCKS AWAY at a rate of $20 a night! Pros: -Great Location (Close to tourist areas and many restaurants) -Nice Bathroom -Good Breakfast -Café -Secure access -Good rates -Wi Fi included Cons: -No Parking (Adds additional $20 a night to cost AND parking is far away) -No A/C -No views from hotel (Giant wall with barbed wire blocks your view from all the rooms) -Swimming Pool is very small -Hard to find (Does not have big signs that say the name of the hotel) -No elevator

0.71km from Cafe AmonPROs: As budge accommodations go, I thought this stay was ok. I think it really depends on your expectations and the price at the time of your stay. The price was cheap during the off season in mid-July - $30/night for a standard 1 bed room. For that price, the room is a very good value in San Jose. You would be hard-pressed to beat that. They actually charged me less than the reserved price on booking, which was $40/night. It would've still been ok for $40, but I don't think it's worth more than that. The breakfast here was small, but good. Guests can choose from a menu with about 4 different choices that are then cooked for them, along with a side of gallo pinto. The breakfast area was pleasant and spacious and the staff was friendly. The bed was only average in comfort, but the sheets were crisp and clean. The A/C and the fridge both worked well. The bathroom space was decent and the counter was long. The room and floor were clean, and the maid service was good. The location is very close to the 7-10 bus station - about an 8 minute walk, as well as about a 10 minute walk to the central avenue and downtown sights. There is an AM/PM convenience store a block away. The girl at the front desk was friendly. CONs: The standard 1 bedroom was definitely NOT 300sq ft. as advertised. It was more like 200sq ft. The room was a little small and the "balcony" was a narrow ledge with standing room only. The Wi-Fi was spotty and did not work the last day we were there, but there are 2 computers with internet that are available (free) for guest use. The neighborhood is a bit darker than the other downtown streets at night, but I did not see as many prostitutes or drug addicts here. There were many homeless people asking for money, but they were not threatening. I didn't really feel unsafe walking around the area day or night, but I did remain aware of my surroundings and vigilant. There really isn't anything in the immediate area except street markets and Chinatown. There are some fast food pollerias nearby, but the food isn't good. You really have to walk to downtown to eat.
0.74km from Cafe AmonThe hotel is located opposite Morazan Square. Surrounded by chaos. Very close to the downtown pedestrian street. No extra bed available. Breakfast is generally not tasty. Not suitable for children. If you are traveling you can choose to live here. Not recommended for business trips
0.78km from Cafe AmonTraveling to all countries of the world, Ctrip accompanied me all the way! Feel good about the hotel! Three-story small room, reasonable price, good service attitude, good

0.78km from Cafe AmonEven in Paradise s#£t happens. As we were three weeks into our exciting six-week round trip of Costa Rica we had to return suddenly to San José for urgent eye surgery. We had already had a good experience at the Hotel Santo Tomas at the beginning of our visit and, luckily for us, they had a free room — not a given as it’s a popular place. After the surgery I was instructed to stay put, mostly sitting, for four weeks before being allowed to fly home, so instead of rambling through rain forests, sloth-spotting, basking on beaches or venturing up volcanos we were stuck sitting in the hotel. This is where the owner, Thomas, took pity on us and offered us a deal on his smallest room to help us out in our hour of need. His offer turned the word “generous” into an understatement. He saved our bacon! We will be forever grateful. Thomas obviously has the right feel for choosing his staff as everybody who works there from the guys on reception to the chambermaids and the people making breakfast could not have been more friendly, helpful and concerned. Once you are through the gate, Hotel Santo Tomas is a peaceful oasis in the middle of busy, bustling San José. The house once belonged to a coffee baron and the dark woodwork and colourful floor tiles lend the place a classy and authentic atmosphere. I couldn’t use the well-equipped fitness room but did enjoy the hot tub almost every day. We can’t possibly thank everyone by name but thank you David and Dave and special thanks go to the lovely Omar, philosopher and gentleman who enriched our stay. When in San José, stay at Santo Tomas. Highly recommended!
0.79km from Cafe AmonIt's not the most luxurious but you wont get that in San Jose. It's perfect for short stays in San Jose. Close to all main tourist attractions and parks , shopping areas too..breakfasts are fine and nice big pictures of surrounding park and super coffee, and rooms are nice. Service is very helpful.
Hotels Near Cafe Del Barista Aranjuez In San Jose Review
The staff give a food service and very nice the room is very clear, the location of the guesthouse is convenience to shopping and It's nearly to the train station.
We tend to stay at Casa Lima in the beginning of our trip because it is close to the airport and family. We had requested an early check in and was told it would be ready but it wasn't. This was not a big deal. They let us store our luggage, change into shorts and we walked around the neighborhood and went out to lunch while waiting. Our room this time was a 2 bedroom apartment. It was on the ground floor with a living room and 2 couches (one a fold out) a kitchenette and 2 bedrooms one with a full size bed and one with 2 twins. Each bedroom had a TV but the picture was pretty bad. There weren't any windows in the bedrooms and the apartment was pretty dark. It worked for us but we would have preferred a 2nd floor adjoining room like we had our first stay. The staff were friendly. We love the garden, turtles and Koi. The breakfast is simple but we always look forward to it. We will be back but will most likely get a an adjoining room next time over the 2 bedroom apartment.
Cheap and comfortable environment
We spent one night here on our way out of the country. Initially, we'd planned to park our things and see a bit of the city, but we arrived tired, and there didn't seem to be much near the hotel, so we decided to stay put. We enjoyed a beverage and snack at the charming bar while we waited for our room (we were a little bit early) then we settled in, had a good workout in the clean, attractive little gym area (sheltered, but open to the sky and the view- water and towels provided, and a sweet herb wall) and went downstairs for a delicious dinner with excellent service. Our top floor suite was a delightfully eccentric pastiche of Victorian and Spanish influences, altogether a great space, with a very comfortable king bed, dark panelling, vintage tiling, plants, a city view, a coffee cart, a safe, snacks, a jacuzzi, everything you could want for a restful, luxurious night (the shower stall could stand an update at some point, but not terrible.) The cleaning staff must be excellent- the room was impeccable. The next morning, after a delicious breakfast in the courtyard, we wandered the hotel taking pictures. The eccentric, rambling decor delighted us, like walking through a collage. There's a greenhouse area full of jungle plants, a pretty fountain, a collection of wall clocks, lanterns, lattice walls, antiques, photos, etc. Prettiness, interest and fun. When it was time to head for the airport, our cab arrived promptly. Altogether, a fine experience. My only suggestion would be to ensure the desk staff greet people warmly and offer every assistance. While they stored our luggage for 1/2 hour on arrival, which we appreciated, they did not suggest where we might sit to wait, or where we might go for a walk. We had to find our own way to the bar, after a brief attempt to go walking. When we booked our cab, we also found them efficient but a bit cool. Overall, professional rather than friendly. But that's a small matter compared to all we liked about this hotel. A last, happy memory of Costa Rica.
The hotel is not bad, the rooms are quite big and the sanitation is good.
There is a stuff at the door, supermarkets and more!
Breakfast is average, breakfast environment is good.
Worth the next stay.

From individuals to Beijing
coming from a long trip to Costa Rica from NYC i arrived at 4pm very hungry and tired . the txi driver took me to Inca Real Hotel. i saw right away A secure, safe hotel. i was relieved. i asked the receptionist for the BEST seafood restaurant in San Jose, he called a cab for me and i scored a number one best seafood place here and i would compare it to the best in NYC! so to sum up my stay at the Inca Real i will tell my friends and for sure will be coming back here the room and especially the shower were the best for a very very fair price.thank you.
Very good hotel, equivalent to more than four stars in the country, the room is spacious, there is a small balcony, you can see the woods of the back mountain. The facilities are very comprehensive, the gym, the swimming pool are all, this season is a bit cold. It is convenient to park, familiar with the surrounding terrain, and feels like it goes in all directions. It is convenient for our consular department and the Ministry of Commerce to be less than ten minutes.
Great front desk service! The apartment is really comfy and we had a great stay there! Strongly recommended
I have stayed at the Terrazas de Golf on 3 occasions. The hospitality, warmth and customer service is exceptional. It is family run, with Cecilia, Mario, Irene particularly contributing to a relaxed customer experience beginning with reservations and then every step along the way : checking in and out, car rental, free transfers to the airport, and a wonderful Tico breakfast . Cecilia spoiled me with a treat of fresh juice and lady fingers on a late night arrival. The hotel is a beautifully built house on the golf course which has been converted to a small hotel. Rooms are spacious with great bathrooms and particularly comfortable beds. Very convenient to the airport. A true find.
I have been coming to this hotel for 10 years or more and it has had its ups and downs but a down is certainly not the case now. Kurt was there the first time I came all those years ago and I can't tell how fantastic it was to see him there again this trip. The hotel is spotless and the staff bend over backwards to ensure that you have everything you need. The continental breakfast or for a few dollars you can order eggs and bacon or gallo pinto. The hotel is close to downtown so you can walk everywhere. There is a great rooftop terrace to relax on and the music from the nearby bars is gone. The best thing now is the hospitality extended by Kurt and Angel. Be you there for dental work or a vacation they go out of their way every day to make you feel comfortable. They are great travel guides and wonderful hosts. You can't ask for better.
Stayed for five nights visiting San Jose and surrounds. Lovely room with excellent facilities and good air con. Great shower, high quality line and really comfortable bed. We had only the one king-size bed and plenty of seating space which was welcome. Staff were very helpful on all counts. Good breakfast. We enjoyed the roof top pool after a day sight-seeing and found it a handy spot for buses and taxis.
Great value for money in this small, off-the-beaten track boutique hotel in San Jose's hip Barrio Escalante. Literally TONS of cafes, bars, restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance, in a safe neighborhood. Rooms are small and basic but clean, Wifi and TV work great.
Selinas Hostel in San Jose, Costa Rica is safe, secure, and clean! Fernando and Marcelino are great assets to making Selinas stand out above and beyond any other hotels or hostels. They are talented, personable, and are very good at first class hospitality. I feel welcomed and part of the Selinas family. Peace, love, positive, joy, bless, and respect for the atmosphere they provide day and night, night and day. My brother and I come here every year on our way to Bocas Del Toro, Panama for our annual surf trip. Carribe shuttle service is also very helpful includes, boat, lunch, border crossing, and transportation to Bocas. Our trip gets better each and every year thanks to these guys at Selinas, San Jose, Costa Rica. You always meet the best people here at Selinas, thanks guys for all you do! Looking foward to next year Pura Vida Mae!
It is located 5 mins walking from Estadio Nacional. It is like a Rooming House with a shared Kitchen and a beautiful Garden area. We stayed at Room #1 which had a Smart Tv (Netflix/ YouTube), 1 big bathroom, 1 king bed and Desktop Table + Ergonomic Chair for business. Wifi worked perfectly all the time. Nice place. Thanks!
We stayed at this hotel as a family for two nights. The accommodation itself is beautiful and spacious. The breakfast is also nice and you can sit outdoors if you like. There is a big and modern shopping mall with stores and restaurants in walking distance. Basically we have nothing to complain about the hotel itself. What ruined our experience was the driver the hotel booked for us to drive us to the airport. This is someone the hotel uses all the time for this purpose. I don’t know his name but he drives a grey SUV. This driver drove like crazy, changing lanes like he was racing and so fast although we had children sitting in the back. My husband had to tell him to slow down. Then at the airport he tried to overcharge us thinking we did not know the currency. Please do not go with this driver.
I come to San Jose allot. Monthly, I always enjoy this hotel. They have several types of rooms price range 65 to 250 a night. Different rooms have different views and are positioned in a few areas through the hotel. The hotel has great food bar open daily from 8.30 to 12 pm. Always have sports entertainment, and working girls arrive daily from 11 till 8 or 9 at night. They have allot of beautiful working girls on Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday nights. Good music and good atmosphere. The showers have good water pressure, and hot water, every room has air condition , 24 hour on sight security. Solo male travel won’t be let down try this place. Fun hotel for the single male looking for a few nights of fun in San Jose.
This tiny slice of paradise is just a short Uber ride (15mins) from the airport. As we checked in we were buzzed in at the front door, greet security. I always felt safe and relaxed here during my stay. The wonderful Liz and Omar helped us check in and helped us to our room with our bags. We settled into our room with a king size firm bed with a flat screen tv and large walk in shower. No a/c but with the amazing weather who needs a/c? During our stay we got to met the incredible staff who went above and beyond. In all my travels I’ve never met such incredible hosts. The owner should be very proud of the amazing team that works here. I’m kinda jealous, i wanna work here. Hugo and Renato are two of the most hospitable and caring men in this industry. Our talented Nestor who will whip up any drink was great. Yorling’s cooking was dynamite. She prepared us some authentic local foods. Thank you also to Anthony and Andrea. They have coffee everyday from 6:30 am to 10:30 am but if you are like me, i drink it all day. Usually there’s always coffee. The place is clean, comfortable and just a peaceful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a grocery store, liquor store and small convince store all within just a moments walk. The pool was refreshing and clean, never saw any mold. Our towels were the typical hotel towels. The room and furniture in our room were not stained and it was cleaned everyday. Is this a 5 star resort, NO, but is it a resort that is clean, comfortable, affordable and have some of the best staff around YES!!!!!!

Very good, very good, ok.
This was our 3rd stay. We had a 2 bedroom apartment, this time it was on the first floor which didn't have a balcony but was really convenient to the pool, restaurant, lobby, etc. We love this hotel. We use it as a home base at the tail end of each of our Costa Rica trips. It's convenient to family, the airport and shopping/restaurants. The hotel is spotless. The staff are friendly and the housekeepers do excellent jobs. The 2 bedroom has a queen bed in the master, 2 twins in the 2nd and a sofa that can also be slept on. The bathroom is small but clean. The kitchen offers everything you need. We love the breakfast here and even enjoyed room service one night which they hadn't offered 5 years ago when we stayed last. We really enjoyed hanging out by the pool in the evenings relaxing and reading. The swimming pool is beautiful and very clean but also very cold. We've never really utilized it but always try and others around us braved it out before heading to the sauna. We used the laundry facilities which are so nice to have after being at the beach for 10 nights. We used their private shuttle to get to the airport very early in the morning and it was inexpensive. We will always stay at La Sabana when we are in San Jose! I definitely recommend it for the location, amenities and beautiful garden.
The hotel is more than 20 minutes away from the airport, with a garden-like pattern, more flowers and grass, good air, and lots of parking spaces. The house is a two-story building, separated one by one. The room is a family of 2 rooms and 2 halls, with outdated facilities. Although there are refrigerators and cabinets, it is not necessary for people staying in the hotel. The most important toilets are small, the shower heads are poor, and the hot water is not hot, so people ask for repairs. It may be that locals are used to showering with warm water. There is very little variety for breakfast and average for dinner. The overall evaluation was embroidered pillows, which were not useful. Poor check in experience!
I arrived at SJO airport, got easily with an Uber to the hostel and stayed for one night. My girlfriend arrived in the following night and continued our travel the next day. The hostel is very nice. Especially the inner garden including the pool, lots of places like mattresses for chilling, the bar/restaurant and more. The rooms were totally fine and I liked the small curtains in front of every bed in the dorms. The bathrooms were basic, but cleaned. The staff was very helpful regarding our future travel. They gave us a lot of tips and informations for the buses for example. The city is about 10 minutes walk away and the Grand Terminal for the long-distance buses is ca. 20 minutes by walk. A very nice service for „free“ from the hostel is the possible storing of your suitcases during sour further travels. They just want another reservation after your storing time and then you can leave your stuff in a separate room in the basement till you finished your stay.
I had a wonderful three night stay at Casa Del Parque, the hostel is in a converted heritage building which I'm sure has a lot of history too. I stayed in a private double room downstairs which was a grand, beautiful room. I would have been very comfortable there for a week or two if necessary. It was a little cold at night but with an extra couple of blankets it was all good. I would stay there again if I return to San Jose. Jonatan was a super friendly host and helped me a lot with organising bus travel to my next destination as well as booking Uber taxis for me on his account as I didn't have a smartphone to do it myself. Mil gracias amigo, pura vida!
Hopefully that title got your attention. This place is unbelievable in the VERY BEST sense! Truly there aren't enough superlatives to describe the excellent staff at Plaza Real. From Alberto and Eric at the desk to Ricardo the cab driver to the housekeeping staff and the restaurant staff, these folks know how to make you feel at home. They can't accommodate you enough. All will go above and beyond to assist you with whatever you need for your stay. We were so impressed with their friendliness and sincerity. Once you stay here, you will definitely return. If you have business at the Immigration office, it is very close, just a few minutes' cab drive, and Ricardo was kind enough to accompany us there and guide us through the maze that is the Immigration offices. So we'd give Plaza Real a 10++++ and 100 stars if we could. Don't think about staying anywhere else in La Uruca. This is the ONLY place to stay!
The hotel is located opposite Morazan Square. Surrounded by chaos. Very close to the downtown pedestrian street. No extra bed available. Breakfast is generally not tasty. Not suitable for children. If you are traveling you can choose to live here. Not recommended for business trips
Very good hotel, high cost performance, convenient transportation, supermarkets and McDonald's, the hotel restaurant level is good, the price is relatively good.
This was a good place for our first 2 nights in Costa Rica. They are more than just a hotel though as they can help with planning your whole trip if you want. They provided lots of useful information in advance which we really appreciated and they were quick to respond to our questions by email. They have multi-day packages and lots of tours which you can book on their website. In our case we already knew where we wanted to go but were unsure about booking shuttles between our destinations and which companies to use. We provided Adventure Inn with our itinerary and they were happy to make the shuttle bus bookings for us (4 with Interbus and 1 with Desafio - all punctual and efficient). An excellent service and free of charge and it meant we could relax knowing that all the transfers had been taken care of. We also booked a day tour through Adventure Inn to La Paz Waterfall Gardens in advance as we wanted to make sure we could visit during our short time in the San Jose area. The hotel itself is small and quirky with lovely gardens with interesting statues, a small pool plus a little fishpond and colourful murals. It was really nice not staying at a "chain" hotel and it felt much more friendly and personal. The free fast wifi was great too. There were just a few negatives though, including not getting picked up from the airport when we landed, despite having requested this and confirmed our arrival time. We waited ages before finally having to take a taxi. When we got to Adventure Inn the lady on reception queried why we'd taken a taxi with a particular company and made it sound like we'd done something wrong. She refunded us the taxi fare which was good but it made for a confusing start which we could have done without. There was also no apology for not being picked up. We were told we'd been given an upgrade which was nice though we were not sure if this was a gesture related to the pick up issue or not. Anyway the room was huge and very comfortable and quiet, so all great there. The only issue was in the bathroom where there was a jacuzzi bath (which we didn't want and never used). There was no separate shower and you had to step up onto a makeshift box to get in and out of the bath. This is dangerous and we could have easily slipped, so we had to be very careful. Breakfast on our first morning was very good but on the second morning our cooked breakfast order didn't arrive and when we asked we were told it had been forgotten but that we could put in the order in again. Unfortunately we were on a schedule and had a shuttle bus pick up which meant we didn't have time and we had to miss it. Finally we were not impressed by the included dinner option. We thought it would be easier to book dinner with our accommodation but it's a set menu with very little choice. So it's best to stick to a la carte and pay as you go. Maybe we were just unlucky with these few things as in other aspects the service was good.
