My wife and I stayed for two nights in the double suite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room and in fact the whole place was immaculate, the staff were all welcoming, friendly and attentive; the breakfast was just what we needed, the bed was comfortable, the shower was excellent and the stay was peaceful. We didn't see the other rooms, but they must be finished to the same high standard and there is also a pleasant seating area and outdoor terrace. The hostel is close to the city centre and we were able to park our car very close, although the local birds did seem to find it a little too often during the two days. We would definitely stay there again and thank the staff for helping to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing. They could not do too much for us.

If coming by car there is a huge dirt lot before the city gates with free parking. It was just a straight 7 min walk up to the hotel. There isn't nearby parking. There are no elevators here but when we buzzed to enter David ran down to greet us and helped carry our bags to our room. Our entire 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal and this was the best reception. Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom is tight. You can use the toilet while showering almost but it wasn't so bad. You cant flush toilet paper but you throw it in a trash can with no bag. That was new for us and I guess the pipes cant handle toilet paper and they dont want to waste bags. I feel bad for the person that has to dump out poop toilet paper. Overall a great experience.

Guest house located in the main centre of Évora, it has different floors and rooms with private bathrooms. The guest house is a bit old but is well conserved. They have a great staff and hospitality and you can take some fruit/biscuits and tea for free. Our room was simple and with all the needed facilities. This Guesthouse had everything a traveler could imagine. Our room was very comfortable. the bed was just right for us and extremely comfortable. The bathroom shower was the best that we had. The towels are extra large and soft. The breakfast is very filling with lots of variety of bread, homemade pastries, fruits, scrambled egg and bacon, several different juices and lots more. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable about things to see and do and places to eat. they helped us find a driver to take us to Sintra and Lisbon and it made our trip. I know it may not be entirely their fault but this is a hostel and not a hotel or an Inn. There are posted rules but no one to enforce them. The room we were given was right off the kitchen and another family was out there eating and yelling until almost midnight. I ended up having to say something and they finally went to bed, but I’d rather not have to be the hostel police. Also the WiFi didn’t work all night. We finally located the router in the morning (it’s on a high shelf in the kitchen for those of you who have similar issues). We unplugged it and reset it and everything worked fine. But since there was no one to ask for help after the store downstairs shut, we were pretty much on our own all night (with no WiFi). Common areas are cute and funky but this is most definitely a hostel and should be charging and advertising accordingly. Plus they told us we could drive into the walled city of Évora to drop bags but the police yelled at us for about ten minutes before finally letting us through. If my partner didn’t speak Portuguese, we would have been toast. Btw once you’re inside there are places to park between 2pm Sat and Mon morning that are free (inside the walls).

Here is the note we sent to the owners outlining the terrible conditions we experienced. Dear owners: We are contacting you to inform you of very uncomfortable conditions during our 1 night stay at your apartments. We stayed in room 2.3 on 29-12-18. The heater was not working when we arrived at the room. We tried for 30 min to get the heater working. The temperature in the room was approximately 55 degrees F. The front desk attendant came to our room to look at the unit. During his visit the heater began to run very slowing. We hoped the room would heat up in a few hours upon our return from the day. When we arrived back at our room around 17:00, the room was still very cold. It was approximately 60 degrees F. The main room was still 55 degrees. My 9 year old daughter slept in the main living room for the evening and the temperature never increased above 55. During the night the temperature dropped to 50 degrees F in the main room. My daughter was very cold and we were all cold the entire night. We hoped in the morning to take a hot shower and warm up. We needed to catch a transport at 10 am. Very unfortunately, we had no hot water in the morning. So, we had to skip our showers and begin a long journey cold, tired, dirty and certainly not happy. We also found it somewhat dangerous to walk into the bathroom and bedroom because the doors did not open completely. In the bathroom a person needed to step into the shower to open the bathroom door. In the event of a fire, this could be disastrous if trying to exit. In addition the entry door to the bedroom only opened halfway. Again in event of a fire, this could be disastrous. We stayed 3 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel common spaces were beautiful, especially at night when lit with myriad candles. Our room was large, comfortable and quiet (with one small exception - see end). The staff was amazingly helpful. We have never met such friendly helpful people in a hotel and probably never will again, sadly. Breakfasts were delicious, nutritious and aesthetically laid out. I am not a cake eater but could not resist tasting the cakes which were great. There was plenty of fruit, good breads and hot dishes made to order. We had a light lunch one day to save time and it was also delicious (soup and salad.) This hotel has spoiled us for any other hotel! Our one discomfort was the tiny shower stall (and we are tiny people). It was so tiny that it was impossible to shower without inadvertently touching the shower handle which immediately sent hot or cold water pouring down. However the enormous fluffy bath towel acted as compensation. Highly recommended!

The hotel is close to the Evora station and close to the old city. It is a very suitable location for tourists. The size of the hotel is large, the service attitude of the main station is very good, and there is no problem in English communication. The rooms are large in size and have large balconies. Unfortunately, the balcony is quite noisy on the main road. Of course, the soundproofing effect of the room is very good. The floor-to-ceiling door of the balcony is closed and the room is very quiet. The room setting is slightly old but complete, well maintained, the interior style is moderate, the bedding is clean, and the bathroom is hot. The only thing that felt a little lacking was that some of the hair found in the corner of the bathroom floor could not be cleaned up.

Extremely well located hotel, within walking distance of Évora's city centre and main attractions. Very well designed infrastructure, although some materials feel cheap (ex. fake stone on some common areas). But the worse is the service and maintenance. 1. Spider cobwebs on the room terrace; 2. Ripped shades on the room and stained blinds on the window separating the tub from the room; 3. Noise from the corridors and halls from the cleaning team, using the vacuum cleaner in the vacant rooms with the doors opened ajar since 9:00 am, not the nicest wake-up call....; 4. We left the room before 10 am and went back after lunch past 15:00, but the room was not serviced and then we get a phone call at about 18:00 from the reception to check whether we wanted the room cleaned since we have allegedly stayed in during all day with a non disturb sign at the door (!!!!); 5. Less than 1 m distancing between tables at breakfast in total disrespect for the current laws for mitigation of the COVID-19 outbreak; 6. Loose tiles and other broken parts on the floor of the swimming pools; 7. We forgot a pair of socks on the room bathroom, but according to the hotel nothing unusual was reported by the room servicing team (probably the same people who didn't service our room); 8. First night at the bar and ask for a quite expensive single malt whiskey which is served with 3-4 huge ice rocks, totally ruining the experience; 9. Second night at the bar, ask for single malt whiskey and stress I do not want ice, the nice barmen explains the barmaid in the previous day was not experienced but he knows it all, but I ended up to have to point to the bottle of the whiskey I wanted (from their menu of course) since he seemed never to have hear of it, although it was on the bar menu and on display at the bar....; 10. I have complained of many of these issues at the reception and was promised to have feedback form the management, none received....

My wife & I stayed at Lucia and George's property for a few days while visiting the Alentejo wine region. We were met by George who welcomed us with a pitcher of fresh lemonade made with lemons from the yard. Our room was spacious with vaulted ceilings and a full kitchen. Each room has a large patio for relaxing outdoors. There is a fresh water pool with lounge chairs as well. Lucia made sure we had credible itineraries each day and was ready with many useful recommendations. If you want to escape city and enjoy some peaceful time in the country stargazing from your patio, we highly recommend Monte da Serralheira

As Evora is a walled city there are few hotels within the historic town. The Evora is a large, low rise modern hotel on the western edge of town with open views across the Alentejo plains. It is a mile or so into the centre of town - there is a fairly infrequent local minibus service and the Evora City tour bus has the hotel as one of its stops. Otherwise, its a pleasant walk or a reasonably cheap taxi ride from town. The hotel has a large car parking area and Evora also has a good complement of car parks around the periphery of the walled town. Check in was very efficient and we were given a room with a pleasant view out towards the countryside and a balcony. The car park was below and coaches parked there can irritatingly run their engines while parked. Rooms facing the other way look out over the hotel's pleasant outdoor pool area. There is an adult and a children's pool with grassy surrounds, loungers and a bar. There were quite a lot of insects floating in the pool on our first visit but less on subsequent dips. The room was fine with reasonable beds and bathroom. The air conditioning was a little weak. The hotel does host conventions and also two or three coach loads of tourists on many nights. This can make breakfast very crowded, although the restaurant area is very large. On the second day, breakfast was expanded to have two buffet tables, one at each end, and this helped greatly. Breakfast choice was adequate but not outstanding - fruit was mostly out of a tin. The pastries were good, as usual in Portugal. There is also a gym, indoor pool and outdoor walks and a driving range. Bikes can be hired but it would be nice to see the rates lower than the quoted 10 euros for four hours.

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It is very tasteful in a historic building (the monastery). The biggest achievement of this trip to Portugal was the discovery of the Pousada series. On the first day of the 1800 room, there are two small living rooms and a small garden at the entrance. Breakfast is very good, just coffee is almost, but you can order espresso. I didn't feel far from the train. I walked over, and I was a little tired on the way. When I took a taxi, I went to the bus station. It was ten minutes, five euros.

I booked this based on price and location...my husband didn't want to book it as he felt the low price meant low quality. He need not have worried! It is an unpretentious atmosphere in a very old building within Evora's very old walls. It is on a square, near the north gate (hint: try to park outside the gate...trust me, you will thank me. GPS sent us through some narrow alleys and streets that bear no name) Our room was huge by guestroom standards...the bed extremely comfortable. We had our own washroom and shared lounge and kitchen on our floor...with coffee/tea/fruit. Wine by the honour system. It is clean and nicely decorated. We love finding unique places to stay...Avis Guest House ranks at the top of our finds. Restaurant next door.

. When we booked from New Zealand, we timed this stay midpoint in a one month trip, realizing we would be ready for a couple of nights in our own space( and possibly for fun of cooking regional ingredients in our own kitchen) ...The villa was a perfect, private piece of paradise. It is positioned on its own, about 400 meters from the main building but only about 200 meters from the wonderful swimming pool. It is set among vines, olive trees, and pasture. Beautifully private and peaceful, we were lucky enough to have a huge moon rise while we ate alfresco on our first night. Bed very comfortable and good airconditioning. Great kitchen and bathroom with spa bath. Could have easily stayed on here. Breakfast up at the main house was delicious and the staff wonderful. The main house is beautifully presented and a pleasant place to enjoy a drink in the living spaces or patios. While many rush to sightsee in Evora, our highlight was a trip to Monsaraz. If I have one suggestion it would be improving your after-hours communication network. Thanks for lovely stay guys and remember if you find my travel journal( see photo) please let me know:)

If you're looking to visit Évora and have a car, this is the ideal place to stay if you prefer peace and quiet. This hotel is in an idyllic countryside location, just a few minutes' drive from the centre of Évora. The hotel consists of a main building, which houses the bar, restaurant, spa, indoor and outdoor pools, gym and lounges and the rooms (all suites, with living room, bathroom and private terrace) are spread out across the property. This means that you may have to walk a bit to get to and from the main building, which is fine if it isn't raining or too cold. The room decor is cosy yet minimalistic, as you would expect in an eco-resort - super comfortable bed, whitewashed walls, tiled flooring. Air conditioning and television sets in both room and living room. Bathroom has basic amenities only - shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and soap, and shower cap. There is a blow drier. No hand held shower, only ceiling shower. Two chairs on the private terrace, perfect to sit outside and read in the winter sun. There is a coffee and tea machine with four coffee capsules and two tea capsules, and there is a complimentary bottle of water provided on arrival. Any extra capsules or water bottles ordered are charged. Breakfast buffet selection is great. Good coffee, great bread and croissants, homemade jams, fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, the usual you would expect. Restaurant staff is really friendly and do everything to please. They remember your orders and check if you want the same the next day. For swimming in the indoor pool, swimming cap and slippers are required, so take some along with you, or else, you will be forced to buy them. The indoor pool is large, but only mildly warm. It can get busy, especially during weekends. My husband and I both had massages, which were absolutely brilliant. Definitely worthwhile, as the prices are inviting and the staff extremely professional, friendly and efficient. There is plenty of parking. There is a Tesla charger and other chargers for electric cars. Look out for the friendly resident donkey!

There are some hotels that the minute you get to reception you just know you are going to be disappointed by your stay and this was one of them. Lured in by the alluring pictures of sparkling pool and reviews we booked this hotel. Arriving on the hottest day of may so far we discovered the pool was closed.Nowhere on the booking companies site or the hotels site is there any indication of the pool being open or closed for any particular time.Never mind though. However the 4 hours of constant pool filtration system noise akin to concorde taking off was a bit of a slap in the face and prevented us using the rooms balcony or even opening the door. The booking site page said breakfast included but turns out it wasnt and the family with screaming kids was put in the room next to us.The mattress was so thin you could feel the springs and there was a plastic/rubber sheet that was hot and uncomfortable. Not sure how many incontinent customers they get they need a hospital grade rubber undersheet but was not a good nights sleep. finally, we noticed the fuse box in the room had a broken cover that had been shoddily repaired and wondered why.Well the volume of buzzing and humming coming from it during the night was incredible and explains the frustrations of previous occupants no doubt whacking it in a futile attempt to silence it. All in all glad to leave in the morning.

The InterContinental Hotel is next door to the Four Seasons Hotel, the price is 3 times cheaper than the Four Seasons! The room is relatively large. This is one of my favorite hotels where I have stayed in so many five-star hotels in Lisbon... It takes 3 minutes to walk out of Liberty Avenue and Edward VII Park is on the side! Hotel rooms are divided into old and new. Generally, you don't need to add money for booking the old ones, and you need to add money for the new ones. The front desk will suggest an upgrade-it seems to be an extra 30 Euro! The breakfast is so-so, not many varieties, and the taste is average! Bar is great! Two drinks in the evening! Stayed here for almost 1 week! Hotel services are pretty good👍

The hotel is located next to the square, adjacent to luxury and super-luxury hotels such as Four Seasons, and has convenient transportation. The room is relatively large. We brought a 9-year-old child and no extra charge for extra beds. Think of a hotel in Rome that charges 35 euros for an extra bed, which is too expensive. The indoor pool is open to children in the morning, although only for one hour. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent, pleasing to the eye, and the staff were very polite, and we were quite satisfied.
