0.12km from Cafe ToscanaOur 1st visit to this hotel. A very welcoming hotel , Its settings is a great location about 20 mins to city centre, and byers road area about 15 mins. Kelvingrove area 5 mins walk. The 77 bus stops next to the hotel for access to the city and back, weather dependant. The Room 323 is front of hotel an excellent room and size, great shower. The curtains in the hotel block out any chill areas. Some traffic noise, but would not stop me visiting again. Great drinks selection in Bar area, all staff very helpful with any quires we had.My next visit I will ask for a back room or side room. excellent value for a 3 night stay.

0.17km from Cafe ToscanaMyself and my fiancé stayed here after spending a day exploring Glasgow in the sunshine. We knew it was cheap so didn’t expect a lot... when we arrived we found the tiny car park around a back street, closed via an electric gate. We tried to call several times to be admitted into the car park however, the hotel phone lines were down. My fiancé ran round to reception while I waited and was told the gate would be opened. We waited patiently in the car, but no luck. He then had to go back round to reception and ask again, and eventually we were let into the car park. Pros: it’s quiet and secure. Felt the car was safe. Upon checking in, the Staff were really lovely. Can not fault the customer service at all. They noticed I was pregnant and so offered us a “nicer room”. And we checked in early too. Fab. We seen the website stated double rooms all have baths but this isn’t the case. Our room was lovely nonetheless. Recently refurbished and clean, comfortable with everything you need for a nights stay. There was some damp on the ceiling which could be looked at but to be honest it was a £40 room, didn’t expect much. The walk from the newly refurbished reception through to our room where the old reception was, was cold and dreary, the building looked really rundown, clearly undergoing a needed makeover. We spent a gorgeous day in Glasgow sight seeing and enjoying some lunch, to then return to our room at around 8.30pm. Unfortunately that’s where the good stuff ends. We were neighbours to a “passionate” couple, who at 9pm were clearly enjoying their evening. We laughed it all off and they soon went quiet and seemed to disappear out. Although at 9pm the hotel wasn’t silent and it made us feel uneasy at just how much we could hear! We could hear them whispering and kissing, I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.... Being tired and pregnant after a day of walking we turned in for the night about 10pm, to be wakened repeatedly throughout the night from street noise- drunks, fights, sirens, traffic (sat night, to be expected in a city but some double glazing wouldn’t go a miss to muffle the noise), I also felt uneasy as we were ground floor and our window faced directly on the busy road. Even the noise of people innocently walking past the room in the corridor to get to their own rooms woke both me and my partner, it was so loud! This is not the other residents faults clearly, just a lack of soundproofing in the rooms. Our love bird neighbours returned at 3am to have a party with some music followed by some more Loud “extra curricular activities” up until 6am when we decided to just get up and head home as their party continued. We mentioned all of the above at check out, an apology was given, but the stay has left a sour taste in our mouths overall and we will not be returning by any means. Again, a cheap night but you at least expect a sleep. Perhaps during the refurb you could invest in some soundproofing, throughout the whol
0.18km from Cafe ToscanaOur group of 4 had a great stay at Kelvingrove hotel! We rented the triple room, which was sufficiently spacious for us to share. The beds were comfortable and the room came with all the amenities we needed. But the highlight of our stay was Joe at the front desk. From our arrival, his lovely personality was welcoming. We only stayed one night, but he really made the hotel feel like home. He was ready with recommendations, witty jokes or interesting stories about Glasgow every time one of us found ourselves in the lobby. Even after we returned the hotel past the check-out time before taking off on a road trip, he happily accommodated our requests and even offered coffee to-go for the trip. He went above and beyond his duties to make our stay in Glasgow and beyond memorable and we couldn’t have been happier to meet him! Stay here and he’ll easily make your stay at Kelvingrove Hotel.
0.21km from Cafe ToscanaGood, affordable, very close to Glasgow University and the Kelvingrove Art Museum... Old hotel, very convenient for travel, nearby restaurants, supermarkets. Clean and tidy, the staff are very welcoming, the breakfast is good 👍
0.24km from Cafe ToscanaThe hotel feels very comfortable, both in appearance and inside. It is very warm, the room is small but full of Scottish atmosphere, the bathroom is clean and tidy, the heating is very good, especially the breakfast, it is delicious, it is full every day, and The service is also in place. You can also add boiled eggs to the Chinese. Here we are infected, how much we eat every day, never waste, eat up the table, put the dishes together and wait for the waiter to clean up. Then return the chair when you left..., a very satisfying experience!
0.24km from Cafe Toscanai must be honest I was slightly worried when i was advised that I had room 14....but being a frequent lone traveller - feeling safe and a reasonable standard of cleanliness is the most important to me - of which I had both in the room and hotel Granted the room is small- but i didn't intend to spend much time in it. There was a small wardrobe between room door and bathroom door - and it was large enough for my case to fit in. Bathroom was small but spotlessly clean - towels fresh and white- and yes it is a good idea to grab your loo roll before sitting on loo, save twisting round to reach it - but it was not a big deal. I did have to go over the road for my daily breakfast ( a delicious buffet of cereals, fruit and hot breakfast) but again not a big deal - just had to put coat on and as the dining area was a cafe open to the public during the day - it was very well decorated. It was extremely good value - and i would have no hesitation in booking on my next trip up. Oh and staff were wonderful too Wifi / phone signal not very good in room - but excellent choice of channels on TV kept me occupied the few hours i was there in evening before going to bed.
0.3km from Cafe ToscanaI've been to the Alamo before for a work trip & always had a lovely time with excellent value for money. On this occasion, for a 3 night stay with my partner joining me on the second night, we opted for a bigger room with a bath AND shower. We weren’t disappointed. The rainfall shower is perfect, & the bath a real indulgence if you want to wash in front of the telly! The bed was incredibly comfortable, & the room is peaceful & cosy - heating works a treat but can be controlled by guests if you want it cooler. Lighting, sockets, storage space, tea & coffee choices are all ideal. Add to this a warm welcome & delicious breakfast with a huge array of choices & you really can’t do better. The location is perfect whether you are hoping to explore the West End, the city centre or other parts of Glasgow. We’ll be back!
0.52km from Cafe ToscanaRoom was clean and modern. They had everything that I needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice. This hotel has extremely high standards for the money. Book breakfast the night before otherwise you may be turned away. Really close to glasgow town centre. We got an uber there because we didn't realise how close town was. We walked back

0.62km from Cafe ToscanaCouldn’t get any where else booked at the last minute on the last night of Eat our to help out. My husband phoned and was told they had a limited menu but that pizza was on it. When we arrived we were a bit worried to see a totally empty restaurant except for one person. We were given a menu, and tried to order. The waitress came over to tell us that there was only scampi or gammon steaks available. We ordered scampi, to be later told that they only had 4 pieces of scampi left so not possible. Options left were ... tomato soup or minestrone and a toastie with cheese or tuna or a baked potato with cheese and beans or tuna or chicken tikka. If only we had been told this, we would have stayed at home and had delicious home made food! Sadly, we had ordered drinks(not part of the deal) so we’re obliged to stay. Soup-tasted like tinned tomato. V basic cheese toastie. Baked potato with chicken tikka bland with limp salad. Soooooooo disappointing. For an empty hotel restaurant in the heart of Finnieston with a full our door beer garden and hotel opposite -what on earth are you thinking of????? Was looking forward to a discount on the drinks we had bought before we realised our big mistake.... didn’t happen! The only other one dInter in the restaurant who had had the v unusual one and only sounding pizza on the menu signalled to us in no uncertain terms to avoid it as it was awful. Please avoid at all costs! The staff were v pleasant and extremely apologetic -the restaurant should never have opened and I’m not sure with the 2 or 3 options that they did serve, and should have excelled at, that they ever should -def to be avoided at all costs
0.62km from Cafe ToscanaWe stayed here for three nights in CRM room and our daughter was in Thistle room. Both are spacious and beautifully decorated, with good supplies. Our bathroom, also well supplied, had underfloor heating which was wonderful. The house is opposite private gardens, close to Kelvingrove Park, and within walking distance of Kelvingrove Museum, the Science Museum and Riverside Museum. We didn’t want to go shopping, so can’t discuss proximity to major shopping areas. There is private off road parking and overall it’s a lovely place to stay. Breakfast is served in your room, I’m not sure if that’s usual or just due to Covid and there’s a good choice on the menu. Supplies can also be found in the fridge in the sitting room. The owner is very helpful with local information and places to visit. We had a good stay here and would be happy to com back especially if something resembling normality ever returns!
0.69km from Cafe ToscanaA huge thank you to the Radisson RED Glasgow team for turning a nightmare weekend into one of the best gathering of our friends in a long time. We were supposed to be travelling to Germany but then the coronavirus outbreak hit and we could not travel. We were stranded for options, but then enter the RED Glasgow team (Elizabeth and Graham) who came to our rescue, arranged their super Sweet Suite (WOW, what a room with a pool table, what a view of the Clyde Crane, Hydro and Armadillo... recommended!!!) plus a few other rooms in the hotel, and our weekend was saved. We had everything we needed in the hotel, from good food, live music, and wonderful staff who went the extra mile (warm welcome on check-in, Moretti beer keg in room, warm welcome in the incredible Sky Bar (shout to Morgan and Marcus), ice buckets and custom drinks (thank you again Elizabeth!), party props, and so much more!) all weekend to ensure we have a brilliant time. Can't wait for us all to return! Thank you!
Hotels Near Cafe Toscana In Glasgow Review
Stayed at Point A last weekend for two nights, in the double room with window. On arrival the two staff on duty were friendly. We really liked the bed, (it was comfy and so were the pillows) The lighting is really fun to mess around with, the amount of times I switched this during stay. Especially rainbow rave mode! The location is great, it's close to many shops, bars, food places etc Being able to go on Youtube when Saturday night TV wasn't the best was also a plus point. Really liked the shower, better than other hotels we've stayed at! Good price Staff really helpful The only things that weren't too good but nothing major was the street noise, but the bonus is that it is in such a good location this is expected. I did ask if there was any other quiet rooms that could avoid this noise but unfortunately there is shops and roads surrounded. The room was quite cold, no matter how high we turned the heating system on and even trying it with different settings. On the second night we contacted reception who managed to sort us out with a mini heater, the guy who brought this up was really helpful and we were glad they had something like this to solve that issue! Although it was a negative the hotel went out there way to sort that so we can't fault this. Only one socket by the beside, we're so used to having two at each side (for charging phones) There is also one side with the socket and tables whereas the other side without the socket had nothing so if you like to sit your drinks or even phone beside your bed it didn't have this - We hope from this review that it's maybe something that could be added to the rooms, even a little table or something so both sides have :) We would stay again, as any issue was small or easily fixed.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Glasgow, very close to the city center. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious (depending, of course, on the room you ordered). The check-in process was effective but less pleasant, however. The hotel employee who was working at the time at the front desk, seemed like we were disturbing him (in doing nothing). As I said, the process was quick and effective, but not pleasant, nor welcoming.
The strike at Heathrow Airport resulted in the cancellation of our flight. We changed other flights to Edinburgh first, and took a taxi to go to Glasgow overnight. It was already at 3 am, and we asked for Ctrip to help, the front desk and the manager have been Waiting for us, there was no room in the hotel that night. They sent us to the Hilton Hotel for free for one night and provided breakfast. We picked us up at noon the next day and returned to the hotel for free. We prepared a lot of desserts and drinks for us. Really very moved, thank you Li Wei, this is our trip for a month, travel to four countries in Europe, the most intimate hotel in 11 cities, leaving us an unforgettable memory.
I had a confirmed and payed booking in place. Given all the covid issues, I sent an email to double check they were going to be open. They had opened some of there hotels (as they were allowed to) but chosen not to reopen this one yet. On further investigation, it was discovered that they were not closed due to covid, but because they had chosen to start a building project on top of bookings, and without even informing us of there cancellation. It looks like my insurer is going to attempt to charge them for the extra cost of getting a room at the last second. They could have told me months ago, but they kept me in the dark and my funds in their pockets. This is simply and totally unacceptable, and I will never be doing business with these people again. I have no idea of when or even if they were planning to let people know.
Having booked blythswood square for a 1 night stay with my partner, we were very limited to access of things. We paid £189 for a superior king room with the hopes of using leisure facilities, spa treatments and also dining in the restaurant for breakfast. Although due to current situations regarding COVID-19 we were unable to do really any of these, which we understand fully. However to not be offered anything to make up for the loss of the facilities is shocking. So we paid £189 to be isolated in our room basically, which is far too over priced when you are not able to make full use of the hotels facilities. Also, my partner had experienced a sharp screw - which was hanging out of the wall in wardrobe - to his fingers and jacket when reaching for it, which in turn has ripped his jacket, which is now going to cost roughly £200 to replace. Furthermore, whilst in the bath the cover for the plug opener/closer kept falling off. Black deposits started falling into the bath due to this. However, when the news of closure of cafes, bars and restaurants was released we received a letter through our door explaining all soft drinks were complimentary and breakfast would be via room service, which again, I feel breakfast shouldn’t have been charged at full price considering you don’t have full use of the buffet. Blythswood square is a fantastic hotel and we will definitely be making a return when we have full access to facilities. However, we have just been left feeling deflated with this stay and having to purchase a new jacket due to faults in the room. I have attached pictures of the rip in the jacket and also the screw/plug.
This hotel is close to all the main atractions in Glasgow. Rooms are nice and big and well kept. Beds and pillows soft and you can get a very good sleep. Staff is very friendly. Excellent breakfast. Nice bar/diner. Good value for money. Will definitely go back again.
