location is great, next to Gambetta square, museum, 5 min walk to main square Place Carnot and 15 min walk to the castle and it's bars and restaurants, generous size room, for France, and clean, but tired looking bathroom, comfortable bed, optional breakfast offered. The hotel is modest two star, but clean and well presented, good value for money for what it offers and where it is, was fine for a weekend away.

The hotel is very good~ the location is great too! Breakfast is also very rich for 15 euros. In fact, you don't have to eat at the hotel. There are many bakeries nearby, you can solve it. Parking has public free parking, under the bridge not far from the hotel. The staff will tell you the location on the map. No need to stop paying

I drove to my hotel in Carcassonne - just near the old bridge to La Cite. I had asked for a panoramic view of the cite and boy did I get it - have a look at the view from my balcony. I then went to dinner and the view was even better. The room hada balcony looking across the river to an uninterrupted vioew of Carcassonne, which, at night, was even more spectacular. The parking was easy. The room decor was top notch and the service excellent. I could not fault this hotel or its restaurant. It was just a walk acros the old bridge to Carcassonne and a little the other way to the intersting new(old) town. The latter should be visited on Saturday mornings when they have a fine produce market in the main square - lots of atmosphere.

If you are looking for a low cost place where you could relax, have a shower and air conditioning temperature, this is your hotel. It’s very easy to reach from the motorway and have a free and surveilled parking lot just in front of the rooms. To get to the old “Cité” my best advise is to get a cab ( 15€ Only)

We visited Carcassonne to celabrate our weddding anniversary and my birthday. We chose this hotel from the Trip Adviser comments and it was a perfect choice. It is close walking distance to the old city and we had a perfect view of the castle from the window in our room. It was quiet, clean and all the staff were very polite. To Sebastien, Charlotte and Nicholas - you are the perfect team. Thank you for making our holiday one to remember for a long time!

A bit of a hike from the train station and the 'new' town this hotel has functional apartment-style rooms around a pleasant central courtyard. Bring some food and wine and cook your won meals. The location really becomes worthwhile when you can 'sneak' into the cite through the porte de l'Aude (at the opposite side to the regular tourist gates) and arrive at the Basilique St Nazaire long before the hordes.

We arrived a little early. Greeted by a very friendly receptionist. Room was ready. As planned, we left the car (free parking) and walked the 2kms to the old city. It’s a straight mostly-flat walk, along a residential road. Paths are narrow though, definitely not for buggies. The hotel is in a quiet area beside a LeClerc supermarket. The room was fine and the bed comfortable. The carpet could do with a clean or replacement. The shower was clean. The bathroom itself suffers from the fact that, due to the placement of the shower-head, it is impossible to avoid water spilling onto the tiled floor. The floor, skirting-tiling and the bathroom door need to be refreshed. There was no “Do not disturb” sign for the door, so the cleaners knock. They will come into the room, if you are not quick enough to respond. This may be a tactic in hotels to get guests moving, after 09:00. We would definitely return.

This was one of the more unique hotels we're experienced--and we've experienced a lot! It's one of only two hotels inside the cite walls, I believe, and it's clearly the best. The building is clearly historic, the rooms are darling and the grounds behind the hotel are just lovely, even offering a nice view from one spot of the city center below the castle and great views of a portion of the keep that gets lit up at night. The ancient cite is at your doorstep. You're steps from the Cathedral. But honestly, it only takes you about an hour to casually stroll the streets of this place. If you want to buy a ticket to the castle, you can get a walk on the ramparts and a tour. But you can also exit through the walls of the main structure and get nice views of the city proper below the castle, from a perch above the outer wall which was added some time after the original. There are tons of places to eat, many of them with little courtyards covered in trellises, trees and vines, and surrounded by ancient stone walls. It's so amazing that places like this still exist! And we found that staying inside the walls made it so easy to access. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice. The building itself is like a museum. Bring nice long pants and dress up a bit if you want to feel truly at home in this place. We felt a little under-dressed at times in our shorts, but ten, that's the case in much of Europe! By the way, go ahead and drive here. Just set your GPS to the hotel's parking outside the wall, which is listed on the site. Then have them drive you and your bags up. The drive is an experience of itself, as the driver negotiates a route that doesn't seem designed for cars at all---it's a real treat! About the only thing you sacrifice staying here is the night time view of the exterior of the castle which is up on a hill and, I'm sure, stunning when they have it all lit up at night. But being inside? It was more than a fair trade-off, especially when your lodgings are so lovely and so historic.

Excellent service considering that I had to book at last minute after another hotel refused me on grounds of not having vaccine pass to even stay the night. The Mercure were extremely supportive and welcoming, offered me a room with garden access as am with two pets. Even got complimentary stay for the pets after they felt sorry for my previous experience with the SOWELL hotel. The room is lovely spacious, clean and quiet. Enjoyed a delicious room services dinner which was very tasty. Staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, simply a delight to stay here. Second time now and will definitely come back!

I visited this hotel from the 6th July 2020 and stayed for 4 nights- so this is when the lockdown restrictions had been eased and the travel corridor to France had been opened. Very clean, staff taking all precautions for safety against Covid-19- perspex shields in reception, staff wearing masks, regular cleaning and gel available everywhere. What I like the most about the staff is that they were very friendly and helpful despite my french being poor. They often went out of their way to make sure we were happy and didn't need anything. You could tell they were happy to be back at work and were grateful for customers visiting restoring their livelihood. The staff were that good I would employ them myself. The room was very clean and spacious and the hotel is located a 5 minute cab ride from the airport- roughly 6 euros in a taxi. The pool area was clean and well maintained, the pool was the perfect size and very clean. Pool towels were in abundant supply- we didn't have to ask for anything it was perfect. The hotel is located close to a large supermarket, there is also a chinese restaurant close by called Woks which was awful so don't be tempted to go there. At the hotel there was a full selection at the reception bar from fine cognac to fine wine, also Stella beer and an array of soft drinks- all priced fairly. This hotel also offers food, I didn't try it but it looked and smelt amazing, breakfast was continental all fresh and plenty of juices. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers, it is good for families, singles, couples all ages. If you plan to visit the Medival city of Caracassonne it is about 20 euros in a taxi, the town is about 13 euros in a taxi and the train station is about 13 euros. Taxis arrive generally in about 10 mins once ordered in reception. I'd recommend a day trip out on the train to Narbonne-which has a wonderful cathederal that allows you to view the bishops living quarters and a museum that houses paintings and a bust of Louis XV1, it also boasts a beautiful canal showered in floral decoration. Also Narbonne Plage which has a gorgeous beach and coastline unspoiled by tourism this costs about 2.50 euros on a bus from Narbonne. Tolousse is also 40 mins on the train- lots to see. Caracassonne is a great base. A special thanks to- this is where I'll apoligise in advance- the lady on reception with short short blonde hair, the lady with bob length blonde hair and the girl whose name begins with 'O' think it was Othellio- unsure but they are excellent stand out members of staff.

“The initial welcome on arrival was positive, my French is not particularly good but the staff made the effort to communicate effectively, they were friendly and helpful which includes the cleaning staff as well. The room was fairly basic and reminded me of military accommodation (bare walls) but the bed was queen sized and comfortable, the room and ensuite shower/toilet were very clean and the towels were changed every morning, didn't use the TV but the WiFi was very effective and able to download films to watch without buffering. We were lucky as were accommodated in one of the 50% of rooms with a view across the neighbouring vineyard and all the way to the Mountains Noir about 20K away. Well located halfway between Carcassonne and Trebes. Very good cold continental breakfast with considerable choice and no obvious limitations.”
