8.01km from Carey Cox Memorial ParkMy husband and I were in town for one night and needed somewhere to sleep for a few hours, so we booked a nearby, inexpensive room. The only reasons I gave two stars instead of one is 1) the front desk clerk was courteous & 2) the shower was steaming hot. As for the unpleasant: first, the nonsmoking room wreaked of stale smoke and filth. All the items I had in my bag carried the odor with them to my home and had to be washed. Second, the room was dingy. There was dried food spilled on the counter and nightstand, dried mucus on the shower wall, and grime on other surfaces. Surprisingly, the only clean part of the room was the bed which we stripped to check for bedbugs. Third, the bed was very uncomfortable. It was like laying on fabric covered springs, and the pillows rattled like plastic pieces. Fourth, the walls are thin, and I do believe there was a lady for hire in the next room based on all the action we could hear her getting over there throughout the night and morning. Fifth, we arrived fairly late, and there were a lot of people loitering outside, drinking and smoking. Also a black SUV was parked just outside our room with a scantily dressed woman who kept going in and out of the motel. There was a man waiting on her in the vehicle. I don’t even want to know why. Nonetheless, we got a couple hours sleep, had a hot shower, and would never go back again.
